I LOVE Oud fragrances. I didn't think I would, and the initial smell can be somewhat unpleasant, but they perform beautifully on my skin and create this depth of fragrance that others can't really match. I haven't smelled Royal Oud, but honestly, as good as this smells, I don't need to. Edit 9/27/21: Got a chance to smell Royal Oud at my local Nordstrom recently, and this is a good enough replacement for the general public. There's some freshness in the Creed original that this one doesn't quite get, but the longevity is better and as far as the dry down/opening is, it's close enough and anybody who isn't a complete fraghead would enjoy smelling this on you.

Fresh, acid citruses mixes with a spicy oud and dry cedar wood with a distinct musky note on my skin. A little bit of resinous galbanum hints in between and the pink pepper adds a fresh spicy tone, especially in the first part of this fragrances life. This is a fragrance that immediately contends for the spot of signature scent for me. It’s fresh enough to go in the office, it’s spicy and musky enough to be a date-frag and it’s versatile enough to go all year round. At least that’s my first impressions of it. I haven’t had time to try all season and all occasion yet. I had an instant love affair with this one on my skin

Bright, juicy citrus with tobacco and woods. Very versatile and can be worn in any situation or season. Bottle worthy and one of my favorites from AF.

Close enough, half the price - damn good.

bought this because i really do love royal Oud its one of my top 5 IMO. and i needed something to wear for work. Cheap, Good Scent & Performance was my goal since i really do want too wearing expensive Niche Frags to work BUT in my working environment that would be a expensive waste. Enter: Royalty. paid $42 for a 60ML of this juice. i can definitely smell its got that Royal Oud DNA. but its not quite their. id call it maybe 75% similar. the notes of citrus are a bit to strong & stay too long. the woods aren't giving me that rich creamy vibe. its still a Very good scent that's got some great performance. but i wouldn't go as far as to call this a suitable replacement for Royal Oud Lovers.

Beautiful mature DNA. Goes on with a blend of pepper and citrus. Extremely pleasant opening. Dries down to a beautiful combo of woods...although I personally get a bit more sandalwood. This is an extremely mild oud fragrance (great intro to oud for oud beginners). This is a great sophisticated mature DNA. Longevity is better than OG...8/9 hours while projection is pretty good for an hour or so before becoming a pleasant scent bubble. The dry down is close enough to Royal Oud, while longevity is slightly better, and cost is less...no need for me to buy decants of Royal Oud anymore. Definitely a recommend from me, although I always advise getting a sample before purchase of all fragrances.

Compared side by side with a sample of Royal Oud; my family could tell which one was the original although it was close. Royalty lacks the depth which you would expect from a dupe. Overall solid fragrance for the price point

Have never tried Creed's Royal Oud, so can't compare Royalty to it. I was pretty impressed with the opening - a combination of fresh citrus and pepper combined with a woody accord (cedar being most prominent). Thought it was a pretty unique smell. Very quickly though (maybe about 5 minutes or slightly less) the freshness was gone and all that remained was mainly the cedar. It wasn't pencil shavings or hamster bedding cedar, just a nice woody scent with cedar being most prominent. Royalty is very dry and masculine. Longevity was very good while sillage was more average for me after the first 30 minutes to an hour. Overall, Royalty is OK, nothing special. For occasions where I'd want to wear a dry woody scent, I'd much rather reach for a vetiver fragrance, something like Encre Noire Extreme than Royalty.

This doesn't even get close to Royal Oud. Awful attempt to duplicate this one. Even if you don't compare the two, it's still not very good. The scent is mostly damp, rotting, woody oud. The other notes aren't really there. Alexandria has some winners. But this ain't it!!! 4/10

Makes me sick. Don't get the hype.

A more citrus heavy version of Royal Oud, minus the smooth tobacco like dry down. Still very spicy, woody. Has slightly better performance (6-7 hours, moderate projection for 2 hours). Don't think I'll be buying a bottle of this. Just isn't close enough to the original (maybe 60-70%).

I didn't like this when I first sampled it, in fact I was a bit repulsed. A few months later and I decided to give it another try and it's settled pretty nicely. Not sure if my nose changed, or the fragranced matured but it smells better now. There's still a note in it that I am not a fan of, but it's no longer overwhelming the fragrance and other notes are balancing it out. It's a unique woody based fragrance, not amber woods, not sandalwood, definitely more in the cedar/cypress style. There is some brightness to it, but it's not citrus heavy.

It lasts and it is much cheaper than Royal Oud but they don’t smell all that similar. Royalty is much richer and heavier, the musk is less sharp and intense. Royal Oud is one of my favorite fragrances but I also appreciate Alexandria for their interpretations as well as their originals. With the current prices for Creed, which is heavily inflated from their previously high prices, I would buy a whole case of this if it smelled a bit closer to its inspiration.
