Tangier Cafe

I received a 5ml sample of this as part of my most recent set of Alexandria samples (I’ve sampled 56 Alexandria frags and own 7 full bottles). This usually wouldn’t be the type of frag I go for based on the notes listed, but I think it’s really good, and I really enjoy it. There’s a muted blueberry-honey sweetness with dash of warm spices. The scent is round and syrupy-smooth, but not heavy. Because this sits somewhat close to the skin, I can actually see this being worn in the warm months as well as the cold ones. It’s really very comforting. What this is NOT is powdery, lipsticky, chemically, synthetic, or cloying. The floral notes are very light, and this does not at all read as a rose or flowery fragrance. This wears down to an amber base. I think this one is very well done, and probably in my top three Alexandria frags. I will be ordering a full bottle for sure.

This is pretty darn good! I will say that I do not like the opening 15 minutes - It reminds me of a niche woods perfume I once tried that felt like it was suffocating me. The drydown, however, is worth fighting through the opening. Deliciously rich amber and a very well done musk with just enough spice to keep it interesting. The blueberry is present but not dominate. I find this easily unisex - it works well on me, a woman, but it could work on a man just as well. I requested this as a sample but like it enough for it to be a full bottle purchase. I find it much more rich and interesting than the bottle of Nubian Queen I bought.

I LOVE the opening of this fragrance! It’s starts out very deep and resinous (I get myrrh), and I also get a tobacco that actually has a boozy vibe. In the mid I get a bit of a molecular (ambroxan or Iso E), but it's not too much (I'm not a big fan of overly synthetic molecule notes). There is also some slightly sweet spice. On me this sits close to the skin, and is best for cooler weather, and lasts ALL day. I definitely want to add this to my collection-can't be the price. Also, what I pick up as far as notes do not match what is on the Alexandria website.

I dont leave many reviews but since im the first to try this let me just say this is really good! While its nothing earth shattering different It literally transports my mind to morocco, and dont worry the blueberry is not sweet at all! Id say the musk/amber is way more in control here only accented by the floral rose and berry- very nice again by alexandria. Ive loved almost everything ive tried by them so far except a small few, the biggest letdown being valley of the kings for being too weak and their signature one is soso. Enjoy this one though y'all!

A sweet, heavy, dark and mysterious gourmand-leaning scent, Tangier Cafe strikes the perfect chord for nighttimes indoors with brick fireplaces, old wood/leather furniture and bold liqueurs over smooth soul music. The individual notes listed don’t paint the full picture of how complex and exotic TC ends up being, or of how it creamily sits on the air around you. Leading with blueberry and anise creating a cool spiciness up front, the rose, amber and musk fill out the scent profile and give Tangier Cafe its luxurious weight while the honey plays off the anise note to provide the sweetness. While the scent leans gourmand overall, the amber and anise spice up the creation and prevent it from becoming “foody,” while the blueberry provides a fruit/berry cooling effect. Ideal for someone understated who can manage the attention of a distinct, evocative perfume that demands to be noticed with heavy, exotic sweetness rather than with loud, brash edges. Made for quiet, interesting, self-assured people who let the attention come to them.

Very low key, melds into your skin and vibe (willing to be led instead of leading). Smells like a Moroccan influence from a native, subdued Moroccan perspective instead of a hyped up Disney or Vegas cartoon version of how a Westerner would re-imagine Morocco. Meant to be an everyday jeans and t-shirt effortlessly polished feel rather than a get all jazzed up for a rare, special event feel. Well blended as the individual notes don't readily jump out at me, unless I really search them out. Thinking of layering this with a soliflore coffee frag (from Demeter or Ganache) for kicks and seeing if it perks up in an agreeable way. I would re-order the accords (which are in the top right of the page) as: amber, musky, floral, warm spicy, honey (and not include sweet or fruity at all).

I love this house and this is listed as an original but this is obviously inspired by 24 Gold from Scentstory. That's cool because Raghba,Wood Intense and Nabeel Illusion are variations also. This is thick and heavy. 2 spray max frag that lasts all day. Honey musk and amber dominate with a hint of florals.

This has very similar notes to Kalemat by Arabian Oud. I wonder if Hany took inspiration for Tangier from that perfume. Can anyone elaborate on this? Has anyone smelled the two and can give a comparison? Thanks!
