Dunhill Pure

Dunhill Pure is absolutely amazing while being completely subtle and "under the radar". Slightly aquatic without the usual suspects, PURE takes leaves, flower parts and spices blending them into something that is at once ethereal yet lasting... I must concur with Eros, in that this opens fresh and watery, but becomes creamier in the end. In the opening lotus give a very soft floral nuance; very watery but also soft and silky. The pepper (white) warms this a bit, but it does not become sharp or pungent. Iris/orris keeps it "cool" and adds some earthy green to the smooth sexy cardamom. This is neither too spicy nor too powdery, but the best of both without being too much of either. This is truly gorgeous! I was always a fan of aquatic scents (until they all started to smell the same), but THIS is superlative. Fresh and alluring with just enough spice and floral feeling to smell quite different than any other "water" scent. This is clean, fresh and sooo smooth. A delight to wear and a definite compliment getter. Sexy without musk or heaviness, elegant and refined, refreshing without being generic...a definite full bottle worthy selection for anyone who likes to smell subtle but stunning... Sillage: good Longevity: very good Overall: 4.5/5 As far as the other reviews below go...if my cat's urine smelled like THIS, I would let him pee anywhere he wanted!! Perhaps some need to try before they buy as skin chemistry does do some strange things, but as for me: I am in LOVE! I get the aquatic vibe for sure, but underneath there is such unassuming beauty waiting to emerge...pure is the perfect name for this scent. Nothing dirty or "sinful" here, just unadulterated joy!

I've really developed an appreciation for masculine floral fragrances. This was one of the first I really loved. This is light, fresh, elegant, and restrained. Despite the note pyramid above, I get whiffs of white florals, primarily neroli. It could be the interplay of the lotus leaf and iris, who knows? I sure don't, but this is just so lovely. I see others comparing this to the likes of Acqua di Gio, but to my nose, it's completely unique. The light, fresh, "aquatic" thing has been done before, sure. But not like this. Performance is restrained and sits close to the skin, as with many British perfumes. It has an understated elegance and ethereal quality that I've not experienced elsewhere. This is one of my favorite summer freshies. Unique, refined, fresh, elegant, and so very British. Very cheap too. As long as this is available, I'll likely have it in my collection for summer.

if you like Armani Acqua di gio, get this instead, discontinued yes, but still can be had for 35 dollars tops for a 75ml, fresh, spicy, oceanic like the color of the juice in frosted bottle, and its so soothing, manly....confident, Im slowly starting to appreciate what the house of Alfred Dunhill has done over the years, sad that they dont get their due love in community. this is not a masterpiece definitely but so beautiful in terms of composition, i get mild fruitiness from it too with the marine floral accord 8.5/10

Alfred Dunhill has done it again! This masculine floral aquatic is a great option for the summer.. The bottle is frosted with a heavy metal cap.. Great for summertime fun in the sun.. I agree with Joy that this is a great cheaper alternative to acqua di gio.. Very easy to wear.. It’s hard to imagine anyone not liking this scent.. I heard it has recently become discontinued.. Great work Dunhill! Rating 8.3/10

I love this frag unconditionally. This is a fresh modern, definetely the lotus leaf brings up the scent higher than anything around. This cologne makes me happy while being energized, not a type that would kill your sensory and give nausea. Lucky I got this while there are tons of others I haven't actually get used to.

sweet but fresh, a lil bit powdery due to the iris note, sillage is average, long lasting (easily could pass 5 hours on my skin). good for summer. i really love Pure. but it only comes in 75ml bottle. haha i wish dunhill could produce a 125ml of this juice. haha. 2 thumbs up.

A beautiful fresh, bright and clean floral & citrus Dunhill. Only moderately potent but, it's a lovely smell. For Summer it's a must buy!! Great frosted bottle. Silage is moderate also. But when I run out, it's a "must replace" for me.........that's how nice it is.

This cologne smells good! Let's make it simple. fruity floral smell (in a manly way), iris is all in the scent life. Then it turns 50% woody smell. I wish it projected more & last longer. 8/10 if it were stronger & last longer 12/10

the only fragrance from dunhill which i really love kind happy sweet dreaming sexy on my own nose not many stupid ppl know or use it

Dunhill Pure is a good scent but doesn't last long on my hydrated skin. If you want a better version try this hidden gem: Astbury Fragrances 'Metal For Men' by K.K.Downing . The ex Judas Priest guitarist partnered with Astubry Fragrances to create this modern,masculine little known frag.He now owns and runs a massive golf course in England. Before you laugh send for a sample. This frag shares similar notes with both Dunhill Pure and get this- Valentino V Pour Homme (rare iconic frag),in the Cedar,Jasmine and Pink Pepper. I own Valentino V so I identified the similar note structure plus Metal For Men lasts 8-10 hours on my skin,as a skin scent 10-15 hours and on my shirt 2 days later. I have had many compliments from women in public and a few men ask what I'm wearing. I am in NO way associated with Astbury Fragrances and not a sales rep,I simply wish to enlighten my fellow frag enthusiasts :) I'd leave the link but this site won't let me.

I'm finally wearing this one, after months since I got it, and it is nice, no harm, and does not have any resemblance with Dunhill for men, except for the same shape of bottle and cap, only this one has frozen finishing. I did smelled citruses as some here mentioned it but there are none listed in the ingredients. Well is nice but not outstanding, second buy? most likely not.

Mildly-spicy, mildly-woody, mildly-soapy, fresh scent. Everything about it is mild & laid back. Inoffensive as the next floral fragrance. This is, theoretically, Dnuhill's interpretation of Issey's L'eau d'Issey pour homme. A decent & likable causal for daily day wear. I love the frosted glass bottle. A like from me for this one.

It's a mixture of 70%Aromatic and 30%Aquatic. I get a small resemblence to L'eau Par Kenzo Homme. It is fresh, clean, sweet, and simply effective. It also has a tiniest trace of florality and something powdery but nothing spicy. The bottle is cool-looking and scent is definitely worth having a bottle.

i ordered it online for my boyfriend, and just recieved it! ive fallen in love immediately!!! i can get every single note! its fresh, sensual, sexy soo yummy!!! i think you wont pass unnoticed if youre wearing pure :) it has a good sillage and last on and on :) a good buy, especially now, for summer!

Great for tropical climate, clean and refreshing. I like smelling this on a family member, not so in me, so I gave it away, kinda synthetic smelling for me, perhaps due to the winter season when I first sprayed it. Great projection and longevity with 3 sprays. Wonderful heavy bottle and lid.

This was pretty weird stuff. Like, but not love, as it was generic floral laundry I guess? Some fruit and wood, I dunno. I paid $40.00 for a 50ml in 2011. Better than a lot of Dunhill smells(Black, desire silver, desire black, lol) but not as good as the brown, fresh or london.

Wonder aromatic. Beautiful mix for summer. I would rate it like this: Smell: 8/10 Projection: 7.5/10 Longevity: 7/10

I have a special appreciation for the Dunhill house and like many of their fragrances ! I appreciate the fact that their fragrances are reserved, never loud but still exhibit quality in their respective scent profiles. This one was however a disappointment ! All I can smell is the floral Lotus notes and some pepper with hints of Iris, nowhere near the quality of the likes of Dunhill Fresh. A disappointing blind buy for sure! Not terrible but not for me! A 5/10.

Subtle, fresh+soury & soapy. Projection within 30mins or less. Longevity 1-2/3hrs. IMO its a unisex scent. Bought it in 2007, wore only a few times. It was such a bore to my nose and had somehow misplaced it, gone like the wind. Btw luv the bottle design, lol. My advice - Dun blind buy ROT(Rule of thumb). Test it. Dun be tempted to the positive reviews. Everynose is unique.

Sharp and synthetic cardamom... that's all I smell. It's terrible. Offensive to the nose and smells very cheap

Alfred Dunhill's Dunhill Pure is an elusive scent. A very soft and floral aquatic scent with an aura of mystery to it given how hard it is to find the real ingredients to this one listed anywhere. Iconoclast is correct in noting the citrus in the top that does a lovely job of balancing the florals, I can't tell specifically if this is lemon verbena, lemon tree or some synthetic form of petitgrain (orange leaf) or possibly even mandarin, but it should be noted that citrus is in some form or another indeed here, at least fleetingly at the top before fading after 15 minutes as the floral mids take control. The florals are well balanced, the iris is extremely toned down and blended well into the lotus leaf, which is the real star of the show, giving Dunhill Pure an ozonic hue with a touch of green without the spices ever really showcasing. The first two hours are mostly just the iris, the lotus leaf and some sort of aquatic, ozonic element that gets stronger towards the dry-down until around the 3-3.5 hour mark you are left with almost exclusively the aquaitic, ozonic element that lasts into the 5th to 6th hour before fading. On my skin, even after five sprays, projection is very scant and soft and takes a good deal of effort to make out ten minutes into application. It remains a very faint skin scent the rest of the way through and never really develops. This is extremely subtle and in 85 degree weather this simply did not perform whatsoever. I will give it another go later this summer, but the first few impressions have been of a fragrance that simply doesn't have enough muscle or a strong enough base to handle drier skin under warm temperatures.

Hey, it’s impossible not to ‘like’ this fragrance. But to love it? Well that’s a different story. I think it lacks the character and bite that I always look for in my scents. It sprays on like a very watered down version of Lanvin Oxygene Homme with the white pepper in evidence backed by some ozonic and citric qualities (by the way, I can’t believe some type of citrus is not listed in the ingredients). Over time, it progresses into a more flowery scent with the refreshing citruses still evident, whilst retaining a pleasant watery vibe that reminds me overall of Azzaro Chrome. I usually have to spray about ten shots at a time to get any half-decent longevity and sillage out of it, and thus have been going through my bottle alarmingly quickly – but thankfully it’s not too expensive in the first place. This is one of the most feminine male scents I’ve had in a long time and the first one I’ve had from Dunhill. It has undeniably cool, modern and attractive packaging, bottle and liquid colour, with a surprisingly heavy cap too. All very modern and good for warm weather, and it's nice too, but my final verdict is that I don’t think you would be missing too much if you overlooked it and I doubt if I'd buy it again.

Probably the best among modern (as of Feb-2009) Dunhill's series. "London" is too exotic and disbalanced, "Fresh" is not bright and not strong, but this one - very classic and forever young. The color of the begining scent of this perfune IS NOT BLUE (despite its bottle), it is rather of "cofee-milk" color. It is warm. While it is fresh, the beginning is NOT AQUATIC IN ANY WAY, but the drydown - yes, fresh-aquatic.

I really like Dunhill fragrances, but not this one. Is this what Pure smells like? To me it's synthetic and forced. Not a keeper, for sure. Thanks God the sillage and projection are very low, so no-one will notice it. Bottle is beautiful, though, with a heavy cap, so there is the real quality. But the smell is too forced, to feminine, to not-pure. Forgettable!

This is a great summer fragrance if the longevity and sillage can improve! It only last 3 hours max on me. It is very mild and airy scent of freshness with hints of floral scent, in fact, it is too similar with Azzaro Chrome Sport! Great for active person and it does give you instant boost of freshness!

While in today's era of 2025 most of the fresh Marine scents do feel like lab made synthetic crafts this one do feel like natural freshness in a bottle. 7.5/10 Likeit . Basics and classics are real charming thing . Lasting is very good considering a freshie.

it does long lasting,the bottle even look cool!!! for me it really smell "cold" minty. seem the bottle look very interesting, i think is very good buy keep it as collection and some more it last long... can have a try ...

At first. Very light, almost smelled like nothing at all. 15 min later citrusy and aqua. Nothing much to this. There are better Dunhill scents out there. This one is just nothing really special.

The smell is simply soft, elegant & fresh and yet its not "typical" type of freshness. One perfume that can never be wrong.
