A gem that's been sadly discontinued. Personal: 9/10 - A gentle, citrusy woods with a soft-fresh spicy edge that makes it interesting. I really enjoy it, and think it's one of the very few masculine white floral executions. Mass appeal: 8/10 – Very easy to like. Clean woods and soft spice make this broadly acceptable. Performance: 7/10 – Solid, steady performance. It lasts long enough without becoming loud or intrusive, and is quite reasonable for a freshie. Value: 6/10 – Discontinued and resale prices are only going up, but can currently be found on Fragrancenet for $75. At that price, it's a solid freshie, but not an instant buy. Uniqueness: 6.5/10 – Familiar woody-spicy DNA, but executed with a classy, old-school restraint. SCORE: 74/100 Full bottle buy? YES, a very pleasant and refined citrusy white floral, though increasingly hard to find. Blind buy? YES, fairly safe if you enjoy clean, masculine, woody fragrances and realistic florals. Recommend? It opens with a smooth blend of citrus and spice that quickly settles into clean woods with a subtle peppery edge. A soft white floral presence is maintained throughout its evolution, with the neroli being one of the stars here. Everything in Icon feels intentional and well-balanced, but also very safe. This is not a fragrance that tries to stand out in a crowd. Instead, it aims to be quietly confident and pleasantly mature. There's nothing trendy or youthful about Icon, and it does the job of being a very smooth, masculine, old school summer freshie without needing strange synthetics or gimmicky notes. I just love how beautifully the pepper, cardamom, and oakmoss play together here. They're softly spicy with a beautiful woody twist, amplified and deepened by a smooth, unobtrusive oud base. I truly do appreciate the refinement and craftsmanship. This smells like what someone in a linen button down shirt, driving a Bentley would smell like. The imagery is of a British, upper class summer, and I'm enjoying every sniff. Had it not been discontinued, this would have absolutely entered my must-buy shortlist, but in its stead, I'll begin a journey to find a sufficiently similar, highly polished summer freshie that captivates me for the same reasons as Dunhill's Icon. One of the best releases by a designer house in 2015. A MASTERPIECE...And from a house i've long since written off. WHAT A COMEBACK. This scent is exactly what i was hoping to get from DIOR. An interesting, unique, quality juice which is modern, a compliment magnet, performs nicely and is masculine. This scent is a mind blower from the presentation, to the sprayer to the scent. A very strong statement from DUNHILL. ICON is very MANLY...Men out there will love this because it has all the elements of what many women like in a men's fragrance citrus/fruity, soapy/fresh-clean, with a little bit of dirty spice for added sensuality. It does conjure comparisons to other scents like Terre de hermes and Aventus. I know, i know people always claim something smells like Aventus and this doesn't. But why Icon reminds me of the Aventus is based on their characteristics. They both are complex, clean, manly scents with huge emphasis on fruit and wood. It does share some of Terre's vibe as well in the opening based on the citrus and spice which comes across as earthy and dirty. But again this is a scent that is unique enough to be in its own lane. This can be worn in any season, any occasion, any time. Its an Eau De Parfum and lasts 8 hours with decent projection and sillage. Its not a beast but this is beast enough and with its awesome smell you don't feel cheated at all. I can go on and on about the beauty of this scent but i would just implore you to find this and try this. This is the type of scent the public should be paying attention to. Unfortunately the public are only trained to notice certain names. Icon has given me hope that it is still possible for an IFRA regulated designer house to make game changing juices. I would gladly pay retail for this scent if i had to (I didn't...lol). If DIOR or CHANEL made this it would be THE SCENT everyone would be raving about and rushing to buy. Branding and perception is truly everything. This is a scent that is as close to a perfect scent as you can get in these modern reformulated times. KUDOS DUNHILL for filling a huge VOID. I'll echo damightyheru's claim here that this is one of the best designer releases in years. I love it all the way from the stunning bottle, through first sniff all the way to the drydown. I agree with C@nn@rs review about this scent's development - the scent opens very fresh and bright, and has a sort of fizzy candied citrus opening (I'm guessing from the neroli?). There's a definite barbershop aromatic mid and slight woody, earthy dirtiness in the basenotes from patchouli, leather and oud. This develops about 3 hours into the scent when I can really start to smell the oud woody notes and spice (maybe a little vetiver) and as good as the opening is this is my favorite part of the fragrance. That little bit of dirtiness gives this scent a solid kick of sexiness in my opinion. Some sweetness remains and the combination makes this scent uber-versatile and uber-appealing, others love smelling it too! Back to the oud in this, it's faint and not a strong part of the scent but it's in there blended seamlessly. It really reminds me of the oud note in ADP Colonia Intensa Oud (which also happens to be my favorite oud ever). As for strength, this is true EDP quality with 8+ hour longevity and strong to moderate projection the first 3 or so hours then moderate projection until it dies off several hours later. Sillage seems good from what I can tell. If I had to describe this scent in a few words it would be Neroli Portofini crossed with ADP Colonia Intensa Oud and a hint of Terre d'Hermes. I am reminded of all 3 when I wear this, and to my nose it's as good as any of those as well. Icon is an apt name because this fragrance is an instant classic, it will achieve iconic status mark my words. Amazing job from Dunhill on this. If there is an Icon Absolute, I have to try it! UPDATE: After having this for several months it has become one of my most worn fragrances. Icon also seems to be a real compliment-getter - both by people around me at work and my wife adores this too.

To be known as iconic is no easy feat. With dunhill icon, you can certainly have people thinking, "an icon has entered the room". Dunhill icon is bold in all of the controversial ways. The first spray will shoot you back to a sunny morning in the spring, with a welch's grape soda in hand, the bubbles from the soda fill the air with the soda's sweet fruity scent. You have just walked outside of the barber shop on a cool morning, with a fresh shave, and cut. Your crisp new leather jacket is perfectly fitted, and half zipped up, and it smells like a brand new EXPENSIVE leather jacket. The scent of the barber-shop lavender clings to the skin of your freshly-shaven neck. Spring flowers are blooming on the dewy bushes lining the sidewalk. And, a nearby farmers market is selling fresh citrus fruits with the tangy bitter scent of their skin floating on the air, as the sun hits them. Your cologne from last night still clings to your clothing. You are just too iconic to have gone home to sleep last night. The sexy spicy scent of black pepper and cardamom, and crisp vetiver pop off of your clothes in the warm rays of the early morning spring sun. The faint scent of pine lingers in the air from the old, rugged, pine-dresser that you store your shirts in at home. You put on your sunglasses and notice the faint scent of iris. You turn to see a flower vender... Walking right up to the cart of flowers, you scoop up a few freshly cut, beautifully purple iris, as their waxy, sweet scent surrounds you. You purchase them... Someone this iconic has someone to give flowers to... Obviously. Enjoy this fragrance! It is FABULOUSLY iconic. The performance is just as it should be. It is enough to let everyone know that an icon has just walked by... But they will be wanting to follow, because your iconic scent won't linger around too long... Only long enough to leave an iconic impression. I would say this fragrance is best suited for transition seasons (spring or fall).

I am 27 and this is my signature. I feel it quite stupid when someone claims this is an older man's taste. I mean come on! This has everything that a signature scent needs. I get constant compliments from younger folks on this leaning more towards girls. They love the masculine nature of it. I never get tired of it in fact sometimes I ask myself why this smells soooo damn good. It's quite addictive. That Neroli somewhat reminds me of sparkling grape soda for sure and it has become my favorite drink since then hahaha... But, guys unique and high-end stuff... March 22, 2025: I have been having it as a signature for 3 years now and this is my observation. I still love this a lot but you need to know this, 1. Not everyone around you takes it as a grape soda smell on first encounter. In fact it's hardly someone. Most of the folks think this is a spicy and bit fruity agarbatti i.e. incense stick. 2. Carrying this is not everyone's cup of tea. Go hardly 3-4 sprays only. This bottle should last at least few years. 3. It has different character at different places and weather. Try it yourself. This is the reason why it still is my signature. It works everywhere you just need to figure out how many sprays needed according to the situation. 4. Once you point out grape soda to someone, they can't unsmell it afterwards. But, I have got reactions like: "oh yeah! This is grape 🍇 incense sticks.", "burning grape soda" idk what does it even mean rofl. 5. It's like love it or hate it but you can't ignore it. Absolutely a signature with a mystery, appeal and a lot of character. I may experiment on a signature soon as I'm still only 29 and why not. But, this will definitely have a great place in my heart and life memories. ❤️🔥

Forgot my usual juice at home. Panic bought this in a rush, already half-convinced by the Youtube mob it'd be shit. If Creed, Tom Ford or Dior bottled this exact same liquid tomorrow, every single one of these YouTube wallies would be greeting tears of joy into their cameras. The same formula in fancier packaging and suddenly they're all crawling over each other to lick the bottle clean. Charge 400 quid instead and watch these chancers reverse every opinion they've ever had. This is what Yukio Mishima would've worn. This is James Bond's scent before Hollywood ruined him. This is Aragorn, son of Arathorn, before he sat his arse on any throne. This is what Steve McQueen would've chosen. I'm keeping this bottle permanently. These Youtube parasites can choke on their commission checks while flogging overpriced swill to their subscribers. Some of us can smell past the branding and recognize quality when it slaps us in the face. 2015 was a solid year for releases, and this was clearly one of the better ones that got buried under the noise. Benaïm's work here deserves respect. The entire online scent world has turned into a groupthink theatre. Absolute disgrace, every last one of them.

An absolute masterpiece. I've smelled a lot of fragrances over the years but this one is unique. The smell is really good and I love it. I would say, this is like a TF Neroli Portofino with pepper, a smokey vibe and leather. So, imagine a Neroli Portofino but with more depth and can be worn in every season. Oh, and it doesn't smell like "grape soda" at all. The packaging and the bottle is premium quality. Nothing says "cheap" at all. Honestly, I'm quite surprised this fragrance is so affordable. Let's talk a bit about the performance. I would say it is average, which is not a bad thing. Sometimes, I don't want to have a beast mode smell which can everyone smell from two streets away. It is great and no issues. Although, I wouldn't use it in really hot Summer days, but it could be a perfect daily fragrance in Spring or Fall. I'm in my late 20s and this fragrance doesn't smell "old" at all. On the other hand, I think this fragrance smells new and unique with some touch of old barbershop feeling. It is awesome, buy it while you can.

This is a great choice if you are looking for an affordable, easy to wear, clean, elegant scent! It’s fresh, spicy and woody. To my nose it starts spicy, citrusy and then the neroli, the iris and the vetiver come to play. In the drydown it becomes sweeter and woody. It has a slight reminder of Terre D’Hermes from the spicy, citrusy vetiver but this goes to a more floral, sweet road in contrast to Terre that is dry, woody. The performance is good, not amazing but good. It’s very versatile, easy to wear and to like. It gives a gentlemanly, clean and fresh feel and it’s impossible to offend anyone. You can use it in the same places that you would use other “office” fragrances like Terre d’Hermes, Prada L’homme, Dior Homme etc. Overall, a great fragrance with good quality in a great price. The bottle is amazing, very heavy and beautiful. I recommend this fragrance if you are looking for an everyday, gentlemanly fragrance for every occasion!

Ridiculous that this has been discontinued. Honest to God, this is the ONLY scent I get compliments on. I have others that people who know me will comment on, often extremely positive (Bentley Absolute, Bois D'Encens) and sometimes vaguely positive (Minotaure, Fahrenheit). But Dunhill Icon is the only scent that has caused *strangers*, on multiple occasions, to ask me what I'm wearing. I've never found anything about it offensive, and if I were the type of person inclined to do this I would be able to spray it on and wear it to bed with zero nuisance. An all around lovely scent. Sort of pepper citrus/raspberry slightly woody with a hint of clean fake oud. There's something similar to TDH here, but Icon smells better to me somehow. I like TDH but I've always found it too broad, like an expensive shaving cream. Icon is not only good, neutral, inoffensive, but also complex and unique. Very rare mix.

Neroli-juniper in a suit. This is an "airplane" kind of fragrance. When you book business class, maybe even first, and need something which smells sophisticated, appealing, modern, but still as inoffensive as such a limited space in close proximity to others would suggest. First impressions even count on an airplane. You wouldn't mind sitting next to someone who smells like this for 8 hours. Also perfect for the office and similar places. Longevity was really great on clothes for me. Way less on skin. The bottle also presents itself well, with a good weight to it and a fitting weighted cap. Probably just stamped metal or galvanized plastic with all the weight coming from the glass itself, it nonetheless feels like quality. Bought it a year ago for around 15€. They are now asking more than double that. This is the only negative thing I can say about this fragrance.

I've enjoyed reading the reviews on this one. Sprayed it once and had to go back and get it. I'll admit when it was suggested to me to 'try the new Dunhill fragrance' I met it with the usual boredom associated with a Dunhill release. The bottle was enough to raise the interest, it is glorious, heavy, stylish and one you'd want on display. The fragrance is to die for. EDP so a good strength, with above average longevity. The opening is one of citrus notes, lemony, bergamot. I then get the lavender and an almost bubblegum smell which is wonderful. The latter life I get a slightly feminine light floral note, again which is pleasant, could have been marketed as unisex, but the bottle is very masculine. It's not a masterpiece, but it's pretty damm good. Those looking for Oud will be disappointed, it's not there.

I love this scent. This was my first bottle that I bought once I raised my fragrance game and it was bought simply based on the notes written above. After first spraying into the air to sample it for the first time, I giggled in contentment with the decision. It was hearty giggle, a honhonhon if you will. After sample many fragrances I have deduced that this bottle has all of my favorite things. The pepper is more of a top note and the neroli, while synthetic, is delightful and is carried to the middle. Aside from that, I think that the note pyramid is accurate to this fragrance. I layer this with Encre Noir by Lalique and it brings out the vetiver base immensely. If you do this be aware that it may take about 2 hours or so for Icon's top notes to fade.

I get the feeling that this is not considered to be very mainstream and more of a blast from the past! But being a young 65 year old I can tell you that my fragrance journey started back in 1973 I have many of this type of fragrance and for me this is the best. Id describe it as sparkly bright and energetic citrus neroli fragrance. Very long lasting and will last you a full day. I think Dunhill did a very good job of bringing a seventies perfume into the 21st century. Something to rival the sticky sweat fragrances that are the norm these days . And one of its most useful applications is summertime and there are very few if any that perform like this one does in the sunshine . 🌞

I added this to my collection in the very early days. Still really enjoyed the profile, and I can’t say that I have anything quite like it in my collection. I recall it was my exploration of Vetiver scent profiles, and this came up in a search. Neroli (prominent) Vetiver and woody notes. Pepper and and airy florals, it’s IMO summer oriented, but in the heavy high performing side. It will get noticed, and has that aromatherapy nature to it. I could see this being divisive for sure, but I feel it wears in a sophisticated way that is mature but spirited. Still around, can be bought on the cheap, and fitting for the summer months. Probably go light on the spray for best results.

I dont like neroli. In fact, only frags with it for me are Versace Pour Homme and Dunhill Icon. It is done differently in these. There is no clone, not even a similar frag to this one. It does smell like a grape soda and this is what has put me off so so soooo many years from trying it, because, who wants to smell like a grape soda, right? Wrong. This is amazingly well put together frag. A spring in a bottle. Smells ultra clean with a pinch of sweetness but it screams class as it has that upper class rich vibe to it. This frag is no joke and dont think you smelled anything like it. Some frags are in the same vein sure but they are not this frag.

I think that this perfume is a masterpiece. Dunhill brand understands men's needs. With Dunhill Icon the company managed to create a fresh fragrance only for men. I think the most important fact is that any age can use this. From a man on his 20s to a mature guy. It opens citrucy, but not annoying at all, then it really changes and transfoms into a velvety perfume. In the dry down I can feel something "purple". Longevity, projection is average. You can wear it anytime of the year, any hour of the day or night without hesitation. Similarities to other perfumes: NONE. Well done gentlemen of Dunhill Brand. You created something special for us.

This is is what Fraser Crane would most likely smell like, if you don't know who that is, you're too young to enjoy this fragrance. It's incredibly unique and luxurious without being pretentious. This would be a welcome sent in a hunting lodge or at the opera. It conunjers up images of old leather sofas, oak cabins flannel and a fireplace. And at the same time witty conversations over scotch wile relaxing after a day of golf. I absolutely love it, the scent profile is on point. The only real warning I would give is you need some Grey hair to pull off this one of a kind fragrance. 100% will buy Again.

I love this fragrance! The whole point of having a signature scent is to find a very likeable and versatile, but also unique and different scent. That excludes Sauvage, BDC and co. But Dunhill Icon does it for me. However I dont know how do you guys get a great performance from it. For me its average at best, especially the sillage. It becomes a skin scent after an hour or two, and the longevity is around 4-5 hours max. Would've been my signature if it performed better. And the saddest part is that I can't find anything quite like it but with better performance.

This is a solid neroli based office scent. Not offensive, doesn’t project too hard. Pleasant, a little complex without ever being challenging, all the notes are apparent without any shouting for dominance. Strict blending. Easy to wear. Performance is on the low to moderate side. Apply in the morning and it won’t be detectable by 5. Haven’t tried the popular laying with TDH yet but will this fall. Add to it the best bottle in the biz and the high value at discounters and you have a win. Just hope it’s still being made when I run out.
