Valensole Lavender

I just love Fragrantica. It's a fun way to learn. They appreciate so much the visual aspect of fragrance packaging and fragrance essences. I mean, sometimes I get hungry looking at all the beautiful photos. So hot Well, Dunhill Valensole. If I say Lavensole one more time I'm gonna scream. I am a truly fanatical disciple of Dunhill. I collect and cherish them. I have come full circle. I love nearly all fragrances, but I turn to Dunhill because they just have the elegance without the absurdity. Dunhill is a well-grounded house with a deep history of adhering to 'Gentlemanliness'. What is that? I don't know but it seems like quality without being declarative is about right. 'Gentlemanliness' is a person that will roll up their fine shirt and do some just plain dirty, hard, work. 'Gentlemanliness' remembers the dirt we all came from--and what is right. You see. . . . I own good things and take care of them. With Dunhill Valensole you can get it right. You can enjoy this for a long time with no questions asked! Gorgeous pale lotus purple juice is so nice to behold while having breakfast, or a quick spray at sunset heading out for fun. Straight to It: Top note: Lemon, Saffron, Nutmeg Middle note: Lavender, Sage, Cardamom Base notes: Vetiver, Amber wood, Guaic Wood The open is a bright burst of Lemon and something I don't know--maybe Saffron as a sort of offset. The Lavender is present just briefly, but it is exquisite, clean and not soapy. It leaves fast with a dreamy, faint, memory. ( Valensole is in France. It is supposed to yield some of the best Lavender in the entire world.) The Lavender is accented delicately with some Sage and is 'made quite sporting' with Cardamom from the old days of spice trade with India and the Middle East. (Gorgeous and strategic spike of cardamom.) On to Vetiver: I always hated Vetiver, until I smelled that of Roja Dove. I had to go to the mountain of Roja Dove to get the Vetiver calibrated in my snoot!! Now, I love Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Guerlain Vetiver plus many others. The Vetiver found in Dunhill Valensole contains a bright and cheerful Vetiver, it has no mineral mud scent (which I sometimes love). It contains no Earth scent, or 'rootness'. A visual of Dunhill Valensole Vetiver: This Vetiver is a cheerful day with the sun bobbing in and out of the clouds. The plants are just loving the slight drizzle of rain from the morning. You receive a cheerful hello that inspires good cheer and confidence that it will all be alright. And my goodness. . . I really need that sometimes. Of course, the Amber Wood adds a natural and solid base that helps longevity. Still, Longevity is not the point here. This fragrance is not the oaf that will not leave the party until the booze is gone. You will not be married to Dunhill Lavensole and pound your laundry to get it out. You can control yourself with Dunhill Lavensole, and be filled with the joy that you have your head screwed on and accidentally made a rock-solid buy. The Valensole is part of the Signature Series and I recommend Leather as well--different and they really nailed it. You are not in a wet trench hunting a wild boar. (Great way to get yourself killed!) Unique understanding of leather with Dunhill Leather. You can get a 'variety pak' on the discounters such as Fragrance Net. This is so much fun, and will not create a budget conflict. Signature Series Leather, Amalfi, Desert. I think you have to search outside to get a decant of Valensole. A bottle is not cheap about $110. In evaluating the purchase please note: This is a fragrance that will never be off trend, out of style etc. Dunhill always makes sense, and is a delight.

Okay.. I was really hoping I would like this one as much as I did. In fact, I think I like it more than I could have imagined. To me, this is extremely similar to Ralph's Club (which I adore and the haters are irrelevant) but its maybe even.. more interesting? The saffron and spicy notes here make it a bit more unique than the clary sage in Ralph's Club, but it retains the bubble-gummy lavender-spicy profile. I absolutely love both. Valensole provides more push and brightness up top which makes it even more versatile, IMO. Performance is above average and the "mass pleasing" factor here is strong. This, like Ralph's club, is a comfortable and easy wear that's bound to solicit positive responses. Its undiscovered by a majority of the fragrance community, but I would argue that if more people smelled this one, its name would be around a whole lot more. I'm glad the YouTubers hated on this one because the prices are great for a 100ml.. this ended up being one of my favorites in a 60+ frag collection, and I got it for less than 60$, full size. If you like lavender with some spice and sweetness, its hard for me to imagine that you'd dislike this one. Dumb reach all day with a unique twist that not many give. Also, the bottle is nice af. Dunhill needs WAY more credit here.

Had to upgrade this to a love. Was dying for a new natural lavender. Well, pretty happy! Extremely smooth and a very decent performance. The fact that it is remarkably like Eternity EDP (which I also received this week) doesn’t faze me nor the fact that it smells very much like Perry Ellis Reserve. It smells smooth and refined. The citrus wears off quick Leaving a quick revealed sweet lavender (not so much the fleshy dark part) buoyed by just enough saffron that helps body out the lavender just enough that you have to check for the saffron. The end result is a cheap vibrant smooth lavender - the antithesis of Tom Daxon midnight saffron which is a strong saffron bomb with generous lavender on top - sorta Turned up to 11. Both awesome. Though comparisons to eternity are a bit of a stretch though I geddit. Well done Dunhill - thanks for not ripping me off and selling me a low performance knock out...

After my first impression I immediately knew this was made for me. I managed to get a large sample to really live with the fragrance. Of course I Just ordered a full bottle however it’s not really easy to get due to the recent pandemic. Beautifully done by Dunhill, they are often underestimated.

Very nice lavender fougere. Reminded me immediately of Cartier Pasha EDT with it's lavender. Very nice. Not the most unique or different. Might be reduncant for me, but if I didn't have many lavender frags, I'd definitely get this. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7

On paper, the composition suggests a fragrance built around the clean, aromatic elegance of lavender, supported by bright citrus, warm spices, and a structured woody base. Let’s see how this fragrance blossoms once it meets the skin. Opening: The opening is aromatic, citrusy, and spicy. The primary notes I get are lavender, lemon, sage, and cardamom, with lavender and lemon leading the composition. True to the name, lavender immediately takes center stage. It presents itself as aromatic and slightly powdery with subtle sweetness and spice woven throughout. The effect is very clean and classic, evoking a traditional barbershop freshness while still carrying a soft floral elegance. Lemon quickly joins the lavender, introducing a bright and refreshing citrus accord that brings a crisp, zesty energy to the opening. Its sharp, slightly tart character lifts the fragrance and keeps the aromatic elements from feeling too dense. Sage follows closely behind, reinforcing the aromatic backbone of the composition with a distinctly fresh and herbal tone. As the fragrance develops, the lemon from the opening has fully faded away, allowing the sage to become more pronounced. The sage reinforces the aromatic structure with a fresh, herbal quality, maintaining a clean and masculine tone with only the slightest hint of earthiness. Around the seven hour mark, projection quiets considerably, falling within arm’s length, and the scent trail becomes faint and only barely perceptible. The fragrance transitions into a skin scent around the same time, resulting in a wear that opens strong before gradually softening into a more intimate presence. When to Wear: Valensole Lavender is an exceptionally versatile fragrance that can be worn year round and works equally well during both the day and the evening. Its focus on a fresh, clean, and distinctly masculine profile makes it a scent that feels appropriate in virtually any setting. Final Verdict: My introduction to Alfred Dunhill’s Signature Line through Dunhill Valensole Lavender was a positive one. The fragrance delivers a clean, refined, and classically masculine profile that feels both polished and easy to wear. The lavender is handled exceptionally well, striking a balance between traditional barbershop freshness and a smoother, more modern elegance. While it may not be a powerhouse in terms of performance, it still provides a respectable wear that aligns well with the style of the composition. Where it ultimately falls short for me comes down to redundancy. I already own several fragrances that occupy this same fresh, aromatic space, and while Valensole Lavender executes the style very well, it does not necessarily offer enough distinction to immediately earn a spot in my collection. That said, it is a fragrance I can absolutely appreciate and enjoy wearing. If I were to come across a bottle at a fair price, it is something I could easily see myself picking up, even if it is not an urgent addition. I recently released a review of this on my YouTube: "Rotten Rebel". I had this scent for some months now. The opening is all about lemon and saffron. A fantastic dose of lemon which blends with the saffron in a smooth, bright and nice way. Soon after the lavender enters the blend and it's a sort of spicy and aromatic lavender which ultimately dries down to a blend that leans towards something a bit woody with the lavender on top. Can't pick up the vetiver at all.. And I'm usually sensitive to vetiver. I think this is a nice release, but I feel it lacks that something extra to make it an amazing one. And the performance is not very good (at least on my skin.) This is some ways gives me the same kind of feeling that I get from some other modern designer fragrances. It has something woody to it, something fresh to it and it feels modern. And it's VERY easy to wear and mass appealing for sure. Ultimately, this to me is something that smells NICE. It's a nice release. But it's missing something and the performance is not good. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it is mass appealing.

Valensole Lavender is a really good masculine lavender fragrance. It opens up with a strong lemony citrus, quite sour almost nostril burning. That didn't last long and the very pleasant and relaxing lavender made its appearance. The lavender is quite strong and stays with the fragrance for the duration. The woody notes form a subtle base. Sillage has been average but longevity has been pretty good, better than average. Although I like Valensole Lavender, I have to make the same comment as with Dunhill's Nordic Fougere. It's not a unique or standout fragrance. If you're looking for a nice lavender, this can be it. However, if you already have one or more nice lavenders in your collection, Valensole Lavender would be redundant.

I'm a Dunhill fan in general. This smells like a watered down, weaker intensity Ralph Club EDP. This actually last longer and performs better in terms of longevity and projection, but the scent itself is subtle and too mild for my liking. I couldnt even smell anything when i first sprayed it, but after 20 mins it had developed. Leaves me feeling dissatisfied. Definitely not worth the full retail price.

Valensole Lavender by Alfred Dunhill Signature Collection is an aromatic woody fragrance. Initially, it smells like men's shower gel, but it soon transitions to more Invictus-like notes. Throughout, the scent remains very subtle and stays close to the skin. While it's not as distinctive as other fragrances in the Signature line, the overall rating is average.

#515 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I really want to like every Dunhill scent, mostly from nostalgia. This is the third scent in this collection I'm trying. The first, Arabian Desert, is a fine scent. I liked Moraccan Amber also, though it was less potent. This scent is a very standard woody-spicy that's unremarkable. Nothing unique going on. Chances are very good you already have or have had an equivalent in your collection that's just as feeble and boring and you aren't wearing. Those pointing to Legend Spirit and YSL La Nuit De L'Homme as similars are correct and the potency of this scent is not really better than EDT Spirit. Honestly, this scent, Spirt and La Nuit should all be $15-20 scents at best. The citrus is a little sour at first but goes away in the dry down like most citrus, then what your left with is a vague, weak scent like Cuba Blue that will not offend because it will go unnoticed. There is no use for this watery, very poor quality scent. Don't waste your money.

Rotten Rebel described it pretty well. This immediately strikes with its semi-sweet, candied lemon spice. Any bitterness or sourness from the lemon is balanced with a mild powdery sweetness. The blend is pleasant and people pleasing, but not particularly smooth. It's sort of scratchy and nose-tingling up top with the amber and spices. As the sweet lemon fades and the lavender becomes more prominent, it definitely gets smoother, but still feels a bit rough to me. This is definitely not a fragrance best suited for sniffing up close, as the blend smells a lot better in the air than close to the skin. Unfortunately, as a waft or sillage scent, there's not much nuance or uniqueness. I wouldn't describe it as overly bubblegummy, but you wouldn't be crazy if you caught a whiff in passing and thought it was something from Paco Rabanne, JPG, or Versace - at least until the rubbery, leathery guaiac wood comes out well into the drydown and hardens up the composition I find a lot of these recent Dunhills have a similar sort of modern, sweet, musky base. I've tested this and a few of the Icon Racing series and while they don't necessarily smell similar, they all have this nondescript bubblegummy mall accord that's just overdone, noisy, and generic. Up to this point, the Dunhill Signature line has been a step above, putting out quality (albeit way overpriced) designer scents that sometimes border on niche (Agar Wood and Egyptian Smoke come to mind). Valensole Lavender, while a marked improvement over many youthful sweet scents (you know the ones...), just doesn't do enough to be part of a more upscale, expensive line. Though it did get a massive compliment from one of my female friends who is not a fan of fragrances, so there's that!

dunhill once again done it, a masterpiece work of art take on aromatic fougere. the composition of notes is well blended art concoction, it's likely portrayed like the Valensole of france. ill explain all the note accords in this stuff. #Top Notes-Fresh Spicy & Citrus Fresh start of Citrusy Lemon,Harmonise with Saffron & Nutmeg to Balance out the Sharpness Note of Lemon note a little, the first act of lavender will begin to be noticed, gently & smooth. #Mid Notes-Herbal & Aromatic Lavender Note in The Mid part is alot Noticeable & Prominent, it is Accompanied by a Fresh Herbal Sage & Cardamom to Enhance the freshness & aroma of the lavender. #Base Notes-Warm Spicy & Woody although at the base that the Lavender still a star of the show, the dry down of warm spicy begins with a warm amberwood & manly vetiver to mingle with lavender note, & lastly a touch of woody tone from guaiac wood to make a woody masculine statement in the last act.

This smells like body wash. Without looking at the notes it makes me think of that old spice body wash with the "3X clean" on the big red pump bottle. I used it for so long. It has a synthetic opening but is fresh and clean throughout. Not a typical Blue style, but it also is.

This perfume was launched before Ralph Lauren clup , So we have to give them the credit for this awesome product, honestly I don’t own it & never smell it but I have RL clup & it’s such a good masculine casual scent

I see nothing 'signature' about this scent honestly Its pretty close to Spirit by mont blanc, although with better projection
