Eye of Seven Hills

"This perfume reminds me of" means just that, not "This perfume smells like". Having said that, Eye of Seven Hills reminds me of Initio Side Effect (which I used to own and currently own dupes of). Also reminds me of Mes Bisous Tobacco Flirting with Vanilla, which I also own. They're different scent-wise, but have a big enough similarity that's better smelled than described. I agree with Mnewk31 below. I quote, "Is this side effect? No. Is this side effect’s older half brother that got the good genes and is dark and mysterious and beats up on his younger brother? Yes. Absolutely everything side effect offers that’s great without being cloying and kiddish." I totes agree. Such a good description. I love all three, as expensive as they are, and I waited over a year for the prices to go down just a teensy bit with coupons to cerebrally justify the purchases. I'd have to put Eye of Seven Hills in #1, Side Effect in #2 and Tobacco Flirting with Vanilla in #3. I also own Lorenzo Pazzaglia Evil Angel and I think they're much different. That one smells prettier to me, very sweet and candy-like. Smells like you could drink it. However, the overall scent profile gets kind of tiresome to my nose after a while, especially because of its great longevity. Eye of Seven Hills has this sophistication that I can't put into words, though. It puts me in a particular headspace. It's so good! Like the others I mentioned, it's unique scent-wise. You could have them all and not be redundant. They all smell very different even with the similarities. I see Beso Canalla and TOB/01 up there, which I also own, but they don't remind me of this at all. Totally different scent profiles and nosefeels. Great fragrances, though. I fully recommend them! To end this, Alghabra might make expensive dupes of pricey fragrances, but they do it in such a classy way. I have Rejoice and Cuban Tobacco, and they are so refined and uniquely Alghabra. If you've smelled some of their scents, you know what I mean. The price hurts for just 50ml, but only a couple sprays is enough to get you noticed.

I think many reviewers do the scent justice so I will not rehash it, but will say the notes look about right with the whiskey and saffron being the most outstanding, with the tobacco and benzoin chasing right behind. Sample first and if you like consider Side effect as well. Here is my description of their vibes and how they stack up to each other: A 30 year old man goes to a january wedding in a posh reception hall in NYC. He is wearing a suit with a cashmere crew neck underneath with Italian designer driver shoes on with no socks. All the 20 something brides maids flirt with him and his goal is to take one of them home or at least set up a meet up for a later date. He is wearing initio Side Effect. 30 minutes later in walks his 38 year old older brother. He has on a dark 3 piece suit that command ls respect from head to toe. He arrives hand in hand with his wife who is wearing a lovely black silk dress and as the guests tell him how nice he looks he spins the compliment to acknowledge how great his wife looks. The 20 something bridesmaids all notice him, but he doesn't notice them, he's too excited to be with his wife and watch another couple tie the knot. He's wearing Eye of Seven Hills. Get it.

#649 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is an eau de parfum strength version of Maison Margiela Replica Jazz Club. Anyone who loves Jazz Club as I do is thrilled to have an EDP strength version of that wonderful EDT (Sadly the evil empire Loreal discontinued Theiry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane which was the pinnacle of boozy tobacco scents). Jazz Club is one of the very few EDTs I've continued to purchase because it is sooooo good. But let me be the first person in this review thread to tell everyone on here that if you are an Initio Side Effect, Tom Ford Tobacco Oud, Jazz Club or Alghabra Eyes of Seven Hills fan, Zara has a relatively recent $30 entry called Zara TOB/01 Tabac & Jazz. Do yourself a favor and try it before you drop $190-$380 or more on Alghabra, Initio or TF scents. There's not a lot of difference. Certainly not $350 worth of difference. This Alghabra is a great scent at a better price than Tom Ford Tobacco Oud and Initio Side Effect, and I love it. Woooooowwie! Received as a sample and wanted to buy straight away though it reminded me of Initio Side Effect and HOS no.1, so I grabbed my bottles and... Sure enough... almost a dead ringer for Side Effect and not far off HOS no.1 reminding me of why I already own both. For the life of me I can not fathom what noseless voters downvoted the similarity to Side Effect - I mean really, you’re kidding me right??? Very subtle differences - no.1 being sweeter and more synthetic, Side Effect being softer on the sweetness and darker as well as tad dustier and this being brighter and more airy yet retaining a sweeter smell. It may just also be the stronger in Sillage and possibly more natural. I can tell a difference but you should try all three - someone described HOS no.1 as a cherried tobacco and I think it’s the best simplest description. When my bottles run out this will be the replacement...
