All Hallow's Eve

This actually smells like Hallowe'en night. Wrapped in spicy, incense-y liquorice. I'm not an incense fan, but this is good incense, a warm thread of warm smoke through the scent of a perfect, crisp, amazing October night. It's dark and sweet and rich and cold and spooky, with a brown-sugar sweetness running through it like the flickering light of Jack o' Lanterns. It smells like the fun and anticipation of Halloween, dressed as ghouls and monsters, crunching through crispy autumn leaves and watching your breath condense into ghostly clouds in the frosty night air. It catches that creepy-fun feeling so well in a weird olfactory memory that it's almost uncanny. I only really wear this one around Hallowe'en. Any other time of year, it'd feel wrong. I do love Hallowe'en, and autumn in general, though, so sometimes I dip into this when I need a little boost of comfort, confidence and to feel a little bit unseasonably spooky. It's one hell of a pick me up. I'm pretty sure the version I have mentioned orange or something orange-y in the notes, but I only get the ghost of an orange, a faint citrus spectre. And maybe the slightest hint of something very dark and mossy? There's a powerhouse anise-liquorice thing going on, something very cold like autumn night air, a big wallop of warm and inviting amber- incense- smoke, a hint of a campfire, and of course some sweet, sticky, fluffy, ever-so-slightly powdery slightly-charred marshmallow for the obligatory 'treat' note. The finished product is some kind of magic. It's the kind of perfume I'd wear if I were to spend an October evening telling ghost stories around a campfire in a spooky haunted wood...just before the guy in the hockey mask turned up. If I couldn't cut it as a "final girl", at least I'd go out smelling both spooky and delicious.
