Ambre d'Automne

Very smoky. All the other notes are obscured behind a veil of woodsmoke. They're there for certain. And I can pick out the amber, cinnamon, and tobacco notes specifically. And what I think is the green bayberry. But I'm not familiar enough with the rest to recognize them under the smoke note. It's a unisex fragrance to me, but veering heavily towards the masculine. More "perfumey" than atmospheric. It reminds me more of a niche fragrance than an artisanal fragrance. Which isn't a criticism, just an observation. Most of the fragrances from alkemia I've tested so far evoke a specific mood or memory. This one just smells good. My husband loves it, I like it too. But I think this one is more to his tastes than mine.

Very smoky but this isn’t as sweet as Smoke & Mirrors or Bonfire Toffees and Woodsmoked Oud. The smoke is definitely woodsmoke and it doesn’t have even a hint of incense unlike a lot of other smoky perfumes by Alkemia. The smokiness doesn’t make this perfume heavy though. In fact, I sense a slight soapiness or a “clean” feeling once the smoke settles down a bit. I find this scent very dry which must be the amber. The tobacco note is beautiful but I would prefer it to be more prominent. I sometimes make my own granola in the oven. This reminds me of that smell of toasted oats, seeds and nuts which have been flavoured with maple syrup and cinnamon, minus the bonfire smoke element. Ambre d’Automne captures an outdoorsy autumnal feeling, but it’s maybe even too literal. It is a unique perfume for sure but not one of my personal favourites from Alkemia.

I guess all I'm getting out of this is the tobacco, because both in the bottle and on my skin, the scent reminds me of a less disgusting version of cigarette smoke. If you want to smell like a combination of tobacco and bonfires (prior to the drydown), this is for you. After the drydown, the scent becomes much cleaner, and I can see how it might be associated with fall air.

Received a sample of this with my rollerball purchase of Smoke and Mirrors. This amber is stunning.Smooth,rich and somewhat boozy/smokey/earthy/sweet IMO. This will be my next order from Alkemia for sure. Edit: So, maybe it IS true that these oils "mature" for the better..??? I let it sit for over a mionth..then sprayed some on today...and BINGO!!!! I am truly in love with ths scent !!!! I love the amber/cinnamon and earthy combo in this !!!! LOVE!

This is the epitome of Fall. I’m getting fallen maple leaves, the moist soil underneath, a bit of sweet amber resin, pipe tobacco, smoke, and a bit of ashtray. It sits closer to the skin, so it’s not cloying. It’s not overly smoky, not overly sweet, either. A unique scent for tobacco lovers.
