County Fair

This is one of my favorite scents ever made. I have both the ultime bottle and an alcohol-free spray. I am in love with the kettle corn note. It is just that, fresh hot kettle corn, sweet and salty, but especially freshly buttered. But then I get mixes of cotton candy, caramel apples, and just the littlest bits of funnel cake and taffy here and there, and as a little time goes by every whiff of myself is a sweet new experience. None of it feels especially artificial to me, or too foody, but I'm also really into gourmands and sweet smells, so this might not be that great for those not so into rich, buttery, sweet foodie perfumes. I can see myself purchasing this until they stop making it and I need a replacement.

It's sweet & salt popcorn that turns into apple in the dry down. It is delicious and I don't care if other people can smell it on me or not. I wear it at home for comfort, and it doesn't trigger my asthma and allergies! County Fair smells almost exactly like Shay & Blue Salt Caramel because of the popcorn scent, but County Fair smells creamier, more potent, and more like food, while Salt Caramel is more for going out because it has elements in it that make it smell more like traditional perfume. They're also different in the dry down. If you have one, you don't need the other. I have both because they were both blind buys. I'm happy they're both mine!

Mmm! This is amazing! I think it's one of the best scents I've ever smelled. It smells exactly like this Hungarian treat that's basically puffed rice coated in candy (sort of like the type of candy that M&Ms are coated in). The popcorn in this perfume to me isn't salty or too buttery, it's more like the smell of puffed cereal like Honey Smacks. The cotton candy in this is very smooth, not fluffy or syrupy like in Calliope, just sweet. I was actually worried that this would smell to much like Calliope, but they smell nothing alike. This scent is more vanillic and sort of like a sugar cookie mixed with colorful Easter candy Jordan Almonds.

Imagine walking at a fair selling spun sugar, just baked donuts, pumpkin pie, funnel cake and caramelized almonds. This is thick, savory and lightly spicy with pumpkin and cinnamon facets . I've never found something like this before except the real thing, and no other pumpkin pie scents have managed to smell this tasty. I highly recommend this delicious gourmand, it's my absolute favourite, and being a gourmand lover, I've smelled many bakery scents, and this is my number one. Men love this.

I'm pretty sensitive to sweet scents, but there must be a little bit of magic in this because I love it. Somehow they managed to capture the exact smell of the county fair (big surprise) that I used to go to when I was little. It's buttered popcorn and candy and powdered sugar all in one before it fades into a nice musky vanilla. Don't know when I'm gonna wear it, but I'll make it work.

I mostly work from home, so a scent that's as yummy and comforting as this makes me feel happy in my self-imposed isolation. I find the sillage and longevity better than some of my other Alkemia scent samples This works best on me applied to the crook of the elbow, perhaps due to the body lotion that goes on before? Seriously considering a full size bottle. Yum yum.

Kettle corn, cotton candy and funnel cakes......need I say more. I have no idea how Sharra was able to capture these scents, it's is astonishingly realistic. Truly recreates the scent of a carnival midway in the most wonderful way. A gourmand dream come true!

This is a gorgeous fragrance. It opens up very sweet and candy like and settles down to a soapy caramel apple fragrance with nutty undertones. Projection and lasting power is also very good.

I recently order a Ton of samples from Alkemia and upon first sniff this was the one I was most scared for. Right out of the oil dabber it smelt exactly like a popcorn jellybean. While I enjoy them from time to time, I was mortified at the idea of smelling like one. However. I can happily say on the skin it smells utterly Delicious. I'm not sure that I can pick apart any one note but it all combines into this delicious, warm and heavy scent (much like the air that fills one's local county fair). It's sweet, it's salty, and it very much smells like some deep fried sweets (without any stale oil smell appearing thus far). I would most certainly buy this in a larger size if not just to continue exploring the notes in it a bit more. A very yummy 8/10 from me.

Delicious caramel apple scent with low to moderate sillage. Still trying to decide if I'm gonna buy a bottle because I have so much perfume but seriously considering it.

this is a sweet and salty kettle corn all the way through. the opening is delicious but the dry down is just okay. I picked up on whiffs of the toffee at times but not quite the apple or cotton candy. Might be good to layer with other similar carnival scents? But I just don't think this is the one i would reach for.

This opens with the similarly attractive cotton candy note used in Calliope, along with a salty but not unpleasant popcorn. Unfortunately on my skin it takes a turn for the worst, resembling a greasy funnel cake that smelled like I really had just come from a fair. Even worse, a public bathroom soapiness appeared, melding with all of the existing notes, and became too unbearable not to scrub. I actually see this scent having potential on the right person. It is one of Alkemia's stronger frags.

This frankly just sucks. So far I have not been impressed with Alkemia like I had hoped, but this fragrance is nasty. When you first put it on, there’s hope that this will be nice and gourmand, reminiscent of warm dough and cotton candy, but within 30 seconds it dries to the mustiest, waxiest, gag inducing odor. Luckily, it doesn’t perform well either, so it was easy scrubber. Please go for Kyse Gateau de Carnaval if you want a county fair smell. This is not it. 0/10

I have mixed feelings about this. I love the sweet and gourmand notes but the fried dough and salt of the kettle corn sometimes turn my stomach a bit. Together they can smell super oily depending on my skin, especially in warm weather. I think my skin amps salty notes quite a bit so maybe for me the savoryness is just too overpowering.

This definitely gives kettle corn, but I'm also getting something akin to a bathroom air freshener running in the background (which I notice in nearly all the Alchemia fragrances I've tried). It's a pass for me.

This smells like straight up warm kettle corn on me from start to finish and I absolutely love it! I've had to be in the mood for it though. Pre-pandemic, I loved it but didn't want to wear it much because, it literally smells like the kettle corn cart at the fair on me and though I love fairs and foody scents, I wasn't super nostalgic for fairs as I would go to as many as I could back then! I took my bottle back out today. It's been a few years. It has held up great and really reminded me of the fairs I love. I feel like I want to wear this more now because of how much it smells like what I miss. I never get a fruity note from this and nothing tangy ever appears on my skin, it's just warm, salty, sweet and buttery kettle corn the entire time on me!

A Gorgeous masterpiece! For all of you looking for that "Popcorn Note" that no longer exists in PR Pure XS, since it's been reformulated, or the OG Miss Dior Cherie...Well, it's ALL in here w/ other great Gourmandish notes. I LOVE it! It smells JUST like the Fair! I ordered a FB as soon as I got the sample & was SO afraid to run out of the sample before my bottle got here, so I used it sparingly. I WILL repurchase this & Au Lait as long as they are making it! I have over 500 in my insane collection, & I am downsizing. I really liked this and ended up buying the Ultime. It's mostly salty popcorn, with something sweet and tangy almost like a Sweet Tart. There is also a lotiony type smell to it that keeps it from being pure gourmand. I like buttery popcorn scents, but they tend to weird people out and are a bit much for the office. This one adds just enough "lotion" to keep it wearable and more perfume-like.

This dries down to a cotton-candy-influenced musk. I was hoping for more cotton candy and buttery popcorn scent, but those are really only apparent in the top notes, and the middle notes feature the apple scent prominently. I don't really get the toffee scent in particular.

My husband just said I smell like funnel cakes lol. Does not have that bread-like note that Hygge and Kitchen both have. I enjoy County Fair a lot more. Very wearable. Dries down to a lovely vanilla.
