Fumée (Smoke)

Fumée by Alkemia Perfumes (Sharra Lamoureaux) is a smell devoid of light, contemplative, mystical, restlessly eerie and unfathomable as the future. Fumée envelops like eternal darkness, tightly and silently. Fumée is a campfire in a forest in the middle of dry autumn that is full of magical herbs and extraordinary vegetation. The smoke present in the composition is rich, complex and smoulders not only of resins, but also ethereal herbs, wood and dried juniper. The smoke is thick, almost tarry. It silently weaves between dry twigs, crawls lazyly in the moss, and flows around tree trunks and slopes. It is a dry and warm night, without any dew drops shining in the pale moonlight. No chirping of crickets, no hooting of night birds - only the rustling of dry leaves and silent crackling of smoke covered smoldering twigs can be heard. I had and enjoyed Smoke and Mirrors, but I wanted something a little more smoke and less vanilla, so I got this, and it somehow wasn't as good. Still miles better than the majority of mainstream smoke perfumes I've smelled. I can see it going a bit liquid smoke, as some say, but it definitely doesn't go barbecue sauce like A City On Fire.

Will overpower any other scent easily, must dilute to layer tbh. By itself it smells like charred meat.

Synthetic smoke "flavor" that comes in a little orange bottle in the spices isle. Pass.

Charred bacon facet = solid "nope" for me.

I was probably looking forward to this layering note the most, given that I (personally) think most of my florals could use a little smoke/ash to them. Welp folks... this is not the smoke I was looking for... it really does remind me of the liquid smoke you can find in the baking aisle. I love cooking with Liquid Smoke, but I most certainly do not wish to smell like this. HARD pass. :'(
