Green Carnation

I did not expect to like this, but it's amazing. Richly textured carnations (with dewy green stems and leaves) and an underlying sweet spiciness. The entire composition is strong but still manages to be "fresh", without being a stereotypical aquatic/grassy/white musk clone, and spicy without turning into Autumn. I don't even know how all of the notes fit in, as it is so seamless. Later in the drydown, I sense more sweet rum and a hint of light patchouli, but they only serve to enhance the multifaceted carnation. Totally unisex, and wearable during the current heat, and I believe it is wearable in cool weather too. Amazing.

As a huge Oscar Wilde fan, I had high expectations for Green Carnation, and it did not disappoint. It's truly Decadent. A sweet and spicy narcotic floral with hints of earthy patchouli, absinthe, and musky honey, Green Carnation is refined yet intoxicating; a bit dangerous. This is a scent for artists, bohemians, and well-dressed rebels. I like to think Wilde himself would enjoy wearing this, perhaps layered with a drop of Psychédélique.

Ethereal is the only word I could use to describe this one. It haunts you as much as perfumes you. It opens with green notes but these pass reasonably quickly and it becomes the most hyper-realistic carnation I have ever encountered, like thrusting your nose into a bouquet. It even matches the scent intensity and behaviour of the natural thing. A very well executed soliflore. Bravo.

I think this is my very favorite Alkemia. I just bought another bottle and it's so lovely. It goes on very soapy on me and strong. The dry-down is gorgeous, becoming spicier and warm. The longevity is amazing. If you love this already or are on the fence... it's being discontinued, so act quickly. I think it will sell out in the annual summer sale. 💚

A wonderful totally unisex carnation scent. Its a totally wearable carnation that is not overpowering but neither a shy flower. If you love this flower then one not to miss. I get moderate longevity and it stays close to the skin.

It’s not bad. Very spicy and a little bit green, the patchouli is not unbearable here or giving insect repellent. I’m not sure it’s me, but I think this was well crafted. On second thought, it is addictively spicy, like other reviewers’ comparisons to red hots. But not in a bad way, I keep wanting to smell the swatch. I think this would be fitting in winter.

My absolute favorite from Alkemia. The carnation is instantly noticeable along with the green scent of fresh cut flowers. As it warms up the boozy spicy notes of the absinthe and rum trade places and the florals retreat to the back. I also love the nod to the history of Oscar Wilde and the green carnation. A lovely fragrance and a conversation starter.

I really wanted to like this one, as I love carnations. However, as soon as it dries on my skin it turns into absinthe-y potpourri. The dry-down is pretty nice, but it just reminds me of fancy soap. I can definitely see the red-hot candy comparison someone else made. I will note, however, that my skin magnifies spicy notes and herbal notes almost always go bitter on me.

This smells very Victorian or at least old-fashioned; it's a damp ancient liquor cabinet holding pressed flowers, grandmas perfumed garter and a bowl of old red hots candies. Sorry to the lovers of this fragrance I have a different impression.

I’ve had my sample for several months, so the smell should’ve improved, but it’s just barely doing it. It’s very much a skin scent for me, but my husband can smell it across the room, and he doesn’t like it. It takes about an hour of drydown for me to detect any carnation or any patchouli, which are favorites of mine. Most of my Alkemia samples have been disappointments. I don’t know why. I wonder if I would like the alcohol spray versions better.

This one is interesting, and I honestly quite like it. This has the nice clovey carnation I fancy, with a wormwood absinthe punch and some supporting patchouli. After sniffing, I can feel a slight boozy burn at the back of my throat. Fun.
