Incantation Vanille

The first time I tried this I thought it was a little flat, too straight up smokey vanilla. On second try I couldn't stop sniffing it, then it became a real comfort pleasure. Since then, it's become a top favourite, like coming home. I don't really use it as a main perfume, more a subtle undertone when I want to add some gentle, creamy murkiness. It's my palate cleanser whenever I've overdone it with something else or tried something I didn't like. I absolutely love mixing it with other fragrances that might otherwise feel too light and airy for me on the day. It gives them a beautiful, but not overbearing anchor. I can't imagine being without it anymore. It's easy to love, in just about any situation.

I almost passed this by because of the reference to vanilla in the name; I'm so glad I didn't! Incantation Vanille lights up the same part of my brain that delights in vintage animalics. There's a soft dark sweet muskiness here that's very cozy and sensual, yet also understated enough for workplaces and hot weather. The smoke and resins are delicate, adding a quiet magic to the whole. The overall effect is calming and introspective. I love animalics, incense, and smoke, yet I don't always want to wear a powerhouse perfume. Incantation Vanille is perfect for those times when I want to indulge my tastes in a quiet way.

Incantation Vanille is a perfect balance of benzoin, vanilla, and leather that morphs a lot over time. It's a soft fragrance for personal use or snuggling up close.

This is interesting, there is something sharp almost bitter that is really unexpected.. I agree with Cherry_Darling there is an unexpected coconut note here, which I'm not sure how! The vanilla is a nice, creamy, almost muted note. It's nice, it's a bit warm, a bit inviting, a bit unique, not too much of anything. 6/10

This is vanilla incense with exceptional lasting power. The vanilla dominates the composition for a few hours and then far into the dry down after the vanilla fades, benzoin and frankincense persist. This is a soothing scent for cold evenings.

Hmm interesting. My first whiff was waxy, smoky, fruity coconut with a hint of myrrh. :D Looking at the notes well, nope! I don't get leather. It is sweet but not the typical vanilla. I think Alkemia perfumes often have that waxy smoky alternative shop quality,(the one that sells incense and tie die genie pants) I guess the fruit was an odd one out sweet note association, but I'm sticking to my guns on the coconut smell. The real kind though, with that waxy inside and stringy earthy outside. Drydown: I'm definitely getting a big leather. Still smoky, like tar.

Call me crazy. But it kinda reminds me of Snake Oil by BPAL. Incantation Vanille is so good. It's got like this chalky dusty leather note, powdery vanilla that isn't gourmandy. It's a beautiful cozy cold weather fragrance. Longevity is impressive and sillage is good for maybe the first hour or so but then becomes a skin scent. Stuff is worth the price and then some. Great buy and a must have for vanilla lovers. You won't be disappointed.

Wow. I got something entirely different from this one! I didn't get any vanilla, and I think I got something old-time "perfumy". I wanted it to be a gourmand (its ingredients list vanilla and tonka, after all), and I got nothing of the kind. However, I am far from an expert (a relative newbie, in all honesty). So take my two cents with a grain of salt. I almost think my sample was mislabeled.

This was a complete fail on me: I got plastic birch tar smoke and God Yul soap, which smells like beeswax , vanilla and pine. And here, add in that plastic smoke note. It's not as bad as that sounds, but I sure don't like it.
