Lost Highways

I love it, it's absolutely beautiful. 9/10 From the site: Roadtrip around the U.S. in a bottle. A very evocative scent, like stopping at a gas station in a rural area. I get the farmland vibe and a sharp scent like smoke or gasoline. Unfortunately like many scents designed to give the impression of a scene, it's wearability is limited. The smokiness could be considered unpleasant to some.

From the listing on Etsy, the notes in this are: “Palm leaf, Spicebush, New mown hay, Acadian pine, Desert nightflowers, Linden blossom, White patchouli”. I sampled this based mostly on the fact that linden blossom was one of the components, as it is a scent I love. Sadly, my skin’s reaction is always, “Oh hey, I’m just gonna be lame and amp the spicebush in this, m’kay? You don’t need to smell anything else.” I think I get the palm leaf and hay mixed in with a citrusy scent akin to orange blossom upon application, but the spicebush really just overwhelms everything on my skin and is the dominant player even after 7-8 hours’ wear, which is when it was wrapping up. I did finally get the linden blossom and desert flowers at the 4 hour mark, but they didn’t last long. I don’t get the pine or patchouli at all. I gave this a few weeks to rest before trying it, but I will come back and make a note to this review if anything changes in the future. Over all good longevity, and not a bad smell by any means. I just wish my skin didn’t go crazy with that spicebush :/ It does invoke nostalgic memory of sitting in my grandfather’s old truck when it had been warmed by the sun, so I can make the connection there to “lost highways”.

This is sweet and fresh, with a little bit of clean musk. I don't smell much of the greenery. A pleasant springtime scent, perfect for when the days are just starting to warm up.

Mostly hay and linden on me, rather sweet - too bad i don't sense any bergamot to unsweet it, but overall this is nice.

It’s fresh, aromatic, and cool. It creates a very relaxing, outdoorsy aura with the pine, hay, and cypress. However, my boyfriend says it smells just like the “Black Ice” car air freshener trees, and now it’s all I can think of, lol. Maybe that’s what they were going for, with the name “Lost Highways”? It’s a very enjoyable scent, but it’s something I would probably enjoy better as a candle or room spray.

I don't really know why, maybe it's the yellow florals, but something about this is so gum like to me? It's like if trees were a stress ball. I don't really know how to explain it. I do like it, it's very good for summer, but I think I just expected it to be more woody

To me it opens very fruity floral sweet, then after settling it’s a sweet, sour, and spicy floral. I definitely get the sharp and spiciness of pine and maybe some cinnamon. Hay emerges after another few minutes. Not bad, but I’ve seen descriptions of flat soda at a gas stop and that’s all I can envision with this one. It’s a desolate area with a lot of plains and the sky is an orange-pink.

Very spring summer, I wear this when I’m not wearing my Alkemia As Dark Things Are Meant to Be Loved. I get a lot of compliments on it, it smells very fresh and fruity without being too sweet or oversimplistic. Reminds me of spring break and the desert. I have it in the rollerball. I will also wear this on planes or anytime I want to feel fresh.

starts very fruity and sweet, then gets more green/grassy. I definitely get the hay note. Something fresh spicy in the background that kind of warms up to a cinnamon/mossy fuzz, i like the drydown a bit more than the fruity opening

Guess what I found on the this lost highway? None other than . . . LouLou. She's changed her name, gotten a small (but tasteful) tattoo, and has taken up crochet. But I'd know her anywhere.
