genuinely did not expect this to smell like actual dirt and moss and stone like the reviews said. i've been disappointed by so many indie perfumes that promise this incredibly unique and specific smell, and then i smell them and it's much more generic and boring than you'd imagined. this one does not disappoint! i wanted something earthy and stony and my god does it deliver. on initial application i get straight up soil (in a good way, i love the smell of soil and it's why i got this sample), and as it mellows out i get much more of the stone and moss coming out. similar to gaea but, as their names would suggest, gaea leans a little more green/foresty/fresh and st louis cemetery leans a little more stony/human/nostalgic/old. p.s. i received this sample from their "curated" sample set, where you tell them the scents and images you like, and then they pick the samples for you. very pleased!! they did not disappoint on delivering my desire for earth and mold and wood

Big fan of this one. It smells exactly like it's named. It reminds me of neglected pools and drainage ditches. It smells like cement, maybe with some hints of gasoline, definitely like moss, algae, wet dirt. I agree with sentiments of it being cold, wet cement specifically. Even when I picture a graveyard instead of a ditch, I envision an overpass highway up near the graveyard, so something about it definitely reminds me of car exhaust. I can understand the associations with mold. To me it is a southern scent, and a summer scent, because so many things are wet and overgrown and a little moldly in the summer in the south. But it's not a wild smell; it is unmistakeably marked by human infastructure.

i agree with the other reviewers who feel that this has less of an earthy, decaying foliage scent and more of a 'red clay after heavy rain' scent . i also can't disagree that it's somewhat one-note and a little too medicinal, but it's just so reminiscent of my childhood in the ohio valley; i'm completely on board. you walk around athens on a late spring afternoon and you smell the wet leaves and the overcast and walk on those red and brown brick streets and you go Damn, this smells exactly like alkemia's saint louis cemetery #1. would be perfect layered with honeysuckle.

The most amazing graveyard dirt/stone-after-rain smell. One of my all time favorites. I like to wear this on summer’s days, it helps cool me off. Smells so fresh and calming and earthy, I want to smell it all the time. Unfortunately, I can’t wear it much to work as it may not be everyone’s favorite (do many regular people want to smell like wet mossy dirt in a graveyard?). Love it always, had it for years.

This scent is what started my perfume obsession last year. I saw a review on tiktok and I knew I wanted to smell like a cemetery. This is perfection to me. It truly smells like a mossy cemetery. Paired with a terre note, the dirt really jumps out. I'm obsessed.

Interesting perfume! During summer it gives me an impression of mold, like, living in a house with a severe water damage :D But as the summer fades the perfume becomes alive. I am shrouded in an autumnal forest and becoming part of it.

Upon first application, the primary impression I got from Saint Louis Cemetery #1 was that of amber. After spending some more time with the fragrance I can smell the earth, clay, and concrete notes in a more notable way, as well as a slightly spicy greenish opening, but to my nose amber is still the dominant sensation with this one. However, it is also absent from the notes list -- so maybe it's not so much the literal scent profile I'm picking up on as the fragrance's figurative meaning. Like my favorite amber fragrances, Saint Louis Cemetery #1 has the same sort of pillowy solemnity that is somehow reminiscent of both the boudoir and the grave (definitely more the latter in this case). To put it in synesthetic terms, it has the meditative, slightly uncomfortable sweetness of a sustained C Minor 7 chord. With its melancholy, resinous complexity, this would be a great signature frag for a 1920s Habanita flapper who survived into the Great Depression: a woman who "dressed in the clothes of a period that must end" and has no regrets about it. Saint Louis Cemetery #1 is an intriguing, stylish momento mori. Yes, your future is in an oblong box -- but is that really so terrible?

Just like resting your face against a moss covered headstone near freshly turned earth while it’s raining. cool, earthy and mineral. While wearing it I found myself questioning when I’d want to smell like cold damp cement, perhaps in a particularly pious situation? Pairs incredibly well with Alkemia’s Memoriam.

This smells like patchouli, clay, and fresh mud. It has a clinging, wet scent. I like it quite well, though it's very obviously just a few scents, not really mixing to create as believable an impression of a place as some of the other Alkemia scents. At the most basic level, it is a very nice patchouli scent.

That's a very obvious cement smell, not a freshly poured one, but old, wet from the rain and covered in moss here and there. Reminds me of Industrial Sabotage scent, like it's a smell of the same place, but now abandoned and partially overgrown.

Opens up with a cold wintergreen, which quickly dries down into a peppery, mossy patchouli, with the pepper becoming the dominant note. Very masculine, but in an intellectual way. I can't stop smelling my wrist, and I don't even know why because there is nothing about this that I particularly love. It's just very interesting and transforms as the day goes on. Doesn't last nearly as long as most Alkemia selections on me, sadly. And sillage is next to nothing. I could see this as a daily driver on the right person. Someone who wears tweed, probably. Not me, though. This smells serious, and a little intriguing. Not a fun scent, by any means, but unique and certainly not unpleasant. Definitely worth a sample.

I had the chance to try a sample of this scent. At immediate application i thought the scent was so extrenely nasty, i could not imagine anyone wearing this. After a minute or 3 the scent evolved into something nice. It does indeed smell like a cemetery in the woods after rainfall. But after about 15/20 minutes you could not smell it anymore, it's just completely gone. I'm not buying this to have to apply it every 20 minutes. The scent is very intimate, of anyone is setting next to you, they would not smell it.

Astonishingly on the nose with the name; it’s like someone sealed moist soil in a bottle. A very nostalgic scent; probably because it reminds me of an abandoned house that I used to explore as a child, that was entirely shrouded in black mold. Personally, my skin manifests a rosemary quality to the fragrance. Would never wear out in public but it’s truly a work of art.

I got this in the Curious Oddities sample pack, and I really have no idea where to settle on this. I gave it time to settle before sniffing, and it still came out really strong alcohol/acrid. As it’s drying down, it smells more like concrete, then moss, then mossy clay. Frankly remarkable. It sits really close to the skin.

somewhat disappointed, the "mud, damp cement, dirt" notes are not there at all... it is an enjoyable scent but the patchouli is incredibly overpowering and covers the interesting notes of moss. too sweet for the descriptions it receives.

yeah no... I don't know what I expected but it literally smells like dirt. If that's your thing then you will enjoy this much more then me.

Had to give this a few weeks to settle after shipping from the US to AU and tonight I finally put it on as the new game Resident Evil (Requiem) is released and I get ready to play it. It starts off with a red brick and sterile/medical smell and I can already tell from the first wear that this is one I will forever repurchase when finished. In saying that, it is not for everyone and if you want a earthy/mossy/soily/decay like perfume to fill a 'dark/death' genre in your collection, do not get this one as this will not fill that brief. SLC is a classic Mitti Attar perfume for Westerners. Mitti attars are originally from India and are intended to mimic the smell of rain hitting dry earth. It is achieved through a long and tedious process (where I believe) they combine fresh water and clay and steam it. They then distill it into sandalwood oil over days to the desired scent throw intensity level. If you can't imagine what this smells like, get a stack of terracotta pots and wet them with the hose in your backyard and put them under the sun for an hour and give it a big ol' whiff because that is literally what this smells like. It is petrichor and terracotta pots but with a subtle sweet nuance from the sandalwood oil. In relation to the name/imagery of this, this is specifically the bricked mausoleum after a hot wet rain and only that. You won't (in my opinion) get anything soily or mossy or death/decay like (but keep in mind this is my specific genre of fragrance collecting so I am not as sensitive to these notes as some as who may not have a lot of experience with unconventional/Decay scents and therefore are more senstive to them). I love this because it specifically makes me think of the 'Herbs' in the Resident Evil Games (which are a big part of my life and interests). It specifically makes me think of the scenes in the original game where you find herbs in the varied outdoor courtyard sections. When I ordered this I had a suspicion it would be a Mitti attar-like fragrance and I am not mad that I am right because I would've bought this/had this in my collection anyway purely for the name and label as I also love Interview with the Vampire/New Orleans Aesthetic and AHS: Coven. I will probably occasionally layer this with my other creepy mossy/earthy/soily perfumes to give it variety as it is a pretty linear scent once it blooms on skin but I am also enjoying it by itself but it needs a specifix environment/mood. If you left the house in just this though, people will think you were repotting in the garden or buying pots at a garden centre. I am a very very happy girl and I am already considering a back up bottle because it is so nice on a humid aussie night after heavy summer rains. EDIT TO ADD: I am revewing the FS spray perfume and I will also add it is very oily which surprised me but then I remembered it was an 'alcohol free spray' so that makes sense. Btw A little goes a long way. This has major projection so don't spray it all over your body like I did. One on each arm is more than enough and rub it in a little so it doesn't leave oil marks on your clothes (not sure if it will but oils sometimes can)

This is a very light, very faint fragrance. It is pleasant and you can pick up on the clay elements if you inhale deeply. The cement here is closer to the cement smell I expected from CDG, but I doubt any body who didn't know the notes and elements of this cologne would assume there was any cement in the scent. It's not bad at all, but it's soft and sweet on my skin. Wearable, but it almost reminds me of a vanilla milkshake.

At first this really does smell like rain evaporating on hot pavement, then it becomes mossy, and lands firmly in the patchouli zone for most of the time. It makes me think of visiting an old cemetery in the summertime specifically, but it's still a Halloween-worthy scent, especially if you want something more unusual than pumpkin spice!
