Samhain

Lovely boozy, woody winter perfume.

Seems like I've smelled so many perfumes in my lifetime, that most of my reviews just end up being comparisons to others I've previously smelled. I definitely get the Oak in here―it reminds me of Chêne from Serge Lutens, but without the immortelle. That's a good thing, as I don't care for immortelle. I also get a pretty good cedar note. I can't tell if it's natural or synthetic, but it's not your run-of-the-mill "woody aromachemical" cedar note, at least. This cedar note with the whiskey note remind me of my recent introduction to Tartan by Sarah Baker Parfums (but created by 4160 Tuesdays Sarah McCartney!) which I think I love. All in all, Samhain is pretty good, but with some synthetic smelling background of white musk, fruits and spices. This perfume is mostly woody, which I consider completely unisex, and I voted that way, too. Gourmand and clean floral lovers would probably rate this as "more masculine" but it is definitely not out of place on feminine skin. I'll enjoy and finish my sample, which should be enough to give me multiple wearings. I don't think I'll purchase the full size 5ml oil (of this one, at least), though.

I grew up in oregon and was a scout for eleven years. one of the camps we would go to every summer was a giant wooden lodge in the middle of the woods. it was old but well maintained, had a huge open floorplan. this smells like sitting outside the giant lodge in the woods, eating trailmix we made ourselves that had too many m&ms in it. much like my childhood, seems like this fragrance is discontinued.

Very strong cedar under pepper powder and a bit of metal. Pretty nice.

Initially it is very whiskey on me, then dries down to smelling like straight vetiver. It is nice, but not my thing.

strange but cool almost papery moldy on the top before becoming a vaguely uninteresting amber, fun to smell not to wear
