Sigil

This is probably my favorite I've tried from Alkemia. It's a kind of hard scent to parse, in keeping with its abstruse name. There's a lusciousness to it from the opium and honey. The churchy resins give it a really nice dryness, it also has a soapiness that I find in a lot of Alkemia fragrances and happen to like. I own both the regular and the ultime versions. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite of the two, but I would probably have to pick the regular. The regular has more of a crisp soapy quality and the ultime has more of a deep sweetness.

My favorite from Alkemia. Dark, sweet, soapy, airy. Bewitching. I had no idea it had oud in it--normally I hate oud but I guess it works here.

This smells a lot like black opium or good girl supreme maybe. Not really any oud, maybe in the background but not really noticeable. Same with the coffee. It smells dark and fruity. Very strongly resembles black opium to my nose but it’s maybe better. It does smell really amazing! I want to try more from this house as I was only gifted two samples from a friend, this and hexennacht. I liked hexennacht a whole lot more though just bc it was closer to my signature scent profile I go for- dark and Smokey. But these are very good, very well blended, they smell high quality. Looking forward to placing my own order from them <3

It's sweeter than I tend to like, but the drydown has an interesting smoke/wood/coffee/incense profile. I wouldn't call it a flowery type of sweet, it's likely the honey, full and rounded and made mature and mysterious by its base notes of agarwood and coffee. It's nice, but not as otherworldly as the description made me hope for. It's currently summer, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if I come to like this scent a lot more during the autumn months!

I may need to let this one rest for a bit and revisit; it smells like warm flat cola to me. It’s not totally unpleasant, and I can tell it’s got a lot more going on, but that’s the overall impression for me on first wear. So I’ve worn this a few more times and it’s actually amazing. It’s sweet and complex with the coffee playing a supportive role, it has an effervescent quality to it, and there’s something bright, warm, and almost metallic at the center that I think is the ‘quintessence of gold’. It lasts a long while and has excellent projection. Probably 5 hours after putting this on I walked past someone who commented on it smelling great. I’m very glad I have this a few more chances because I absolutely adore this one.

I love this scent so much - the different profiles blend together to create a perfect vaguely floral scent that blooms into green wood and frankincense. It's hard to tell the different notes apart from each other, which I love. There's some agarwood too - maybe that's the woodiness that I'm smelling? It makes me feel fresh and powerful when I wear it. Sigils are protective or magical signs, so I also like to set an intention when wearing it. It's so unique!!

fancy soap/pot pourri, no coffee, sweet, but more floral or fruit (plum, fig?) sweet than gourmand/food sweet, pretty warm but feels like it would be good for fall/spring rather than winter proper, it’s interesting, I keep smelling it to figure it out. reminds me a lot of the fig candle I have from IKEA. the fruity note mellows out as it goes, but it remains calming and yummy and figgy. Not powdery. It is confusing but I like it a lot?

LOVED this on paper, especially for the dry/woody/coffee aspect in the heart. On skin became a persistent, generic, ‘fragrance oil’ smelling, feminine-leaning musk which I detested. There are a dozen Alkemias I ‘like’ (out of the 40+ I have sampled) but the only one I really REALLY like is Arcanum.
