Woods on a Snowy Evening

Call me crazy, but I find this so reminiscent of port-a-potty "air freshener"/scent cubes that they throw in there. Im not sure why, but I cant help thinking of that. Regardless, its not necessarily unpleasant. Smells pretty cheap but not bad. Definitely not something id wear out in public but maybe ill throw this on every now and then if im looking for some fresher type piney scent. Note: I have both falling stars at winter solstice and among the pines, both of which are much better Christmas/pine fragrances. Ive tried hard to find fragrances that remind me of the smells of my favorite holiday. ATP is fresher and more realistic pine, while FSaWS has a prominent sweet and smoky background with a strong balsam fir note at top. I personally dont think this fragrance (woods on a snowy eve) is even in the same ballpark as the other two, I happen to get very different scent profiles for each.

A very simple but excellent offering from Alkemia. Woods on a Snowy Evening(love the name) is primarily the smell of balsam fir and a camphorous dampness. It's a very fresh and uplifting scent, more reminiscent of a spring thaw with new tender greenery than a snowy evening to me, but beautiful regardless. There is very little change in the scent after first application, but I don't mind at all. It was brought back again as part of Alkemia's 2019 Holiday collection, and I would say it's quite similar to the earlier iterations but maybe with a touch of icy mint. It doesn't last particularly long or project overly much in the oil format, or even the EDP, but hard to beat at this price range!

I love this fragrance. I guess I can vaguely pick up the aquatic aspect (salty sea!) of this but first and foremost for me it is all about an aromatic, fresh and woody conifer forest. This a dense and rich fragrance. Good longevity but like all perfume oils the sillage is not particularly good. Tip - layer fragrance - use the perfume oil as a base and spray another over the top. Laveau with Choco musk spray over the top is AMAZING and easily lasts 12 hours. You definitely get the best of both worlds. I gently smooth the oil on my skin like its a body moisturiser. There is no sticky issue.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and grew up running around in damp forests full of conifers. To me this smells exactly like those memories. The aquatic notes to me smell like rain and freshwater dampness, not oceanic. The cedar is very understated and you mostly get conifer notes. That makes it feel more cold to me, which makes it more atmospheric. I think this one is unisex but more masculine leaning.

This is something between Falling Stars on Winter Solstice and Mist Becoming Rain - it's watery at the start, and full of pine and firs, but without the Falling Stars' smoke. Bought it as a blind choice because the samples were all out, and i love it. May seem a bit diluted and not that strong, but i'm into it.

Pine trees - not air-freshener quality: totally authentic and beautiful. Another reviewer said it smells like the Pacific Northwest....I'm from the Southeast, and to me it smells like hikes up Grandfather Mountain: twisted pines on a breeze that whips though your hair, the freshness of high altitudes, a rainstorm on the way. It's so atmospheric, I suspect it will remind anyone who has fond memories of pine and water about that specific smell. It's pretty linear, and would be excellent for layering....or just for taking the simple pleasure of wandering around lush pines with you, wherever you are.

I normally love coniferous fragrances but this is a dud for me. I got a sample set and I really wanted to love Alkemia, but no luck. For the record, I tried everything on my skin twice. It's possible I just picked out the wrong ones, but to me they smell cheap and linear and remind me of glade plugins at best. I tried scrubbing this off but I guess it's going to haunt me for a few more hours. So yeah, longevity's good.

This is similar to Falling Stars On Winter Solstice, but something about it reminds me strongly of soap. If you want to smell a real pine forest, go with that one.
