Luster

Well, there’s clearly some very divided opinions on this but for me this was immediate LOVEEEEE 🤩 I blind ordered 5 travel size perfumes from Alloy and I’ve truly been enjoying all of them. Each one has a unique character, wears well and none are like anything in my collection. A sample of Luster was kindly included with my order, and as soon as I smelled it I kicked myself for not having ordered it as well. It’s SUPER cozy, yes, sweet, yes, intense, but for me - at all the right levels. It’s a familiar, comforting, foodie scent profile that projects confidently and would smell ahhhmazzing in autumn! I think I know what my first full bottle purchase from Alloy will be 🍂 🍠 🫶 🥰

Sweet(!) potato dusted in cinnamon and nutmeg. This is a good scent, but I can't blame the reviewers that say this smells like a candle. This is a liquified thanksgiving dessert, and it is INTENSE. I think this is a well crafted perfume, but you could find this scent in other places- Candles, scent infused pine cones, diffusers, etc. I would advise against blind buying.

The copy says sweet potato pie, but to my nose, the fluffy starch accord combined with the brown sugar and condensed milk reads as a taro milk tea with boba. Almost like the air in a boba shop. Usually cinnamon accords become dominant my skin but it's very balanced here. This will be perfect for cooler weather and might be the sample I end up upgrading to the full size.

genuinely the most candle adjacent perfume i’ve ever smelled, and that’s saying something when majority of fragrances smell like either shampoo or candles. there is a candied sweet potato note on the drydown, but you’d have to endure for a while. genuinely just not worth it.

Smells like you're at TJ Maxx in November with your mom and she hands you the most toxic soy candle that is covered with a dozen fluorescent orange mark-down stickers and the sickly sweet smell of a generic, live-laugh-love "Fall" spiced vanilla assaults your senses. Nothing subtle here; this is a nuclear, yet charmless, gourmand that isn't even all that starchy for a hyped-up sweet potato accord. At $170 for a 50mL, the juice quality just isn't there, which is disappointing. The branding and marketing materials are on point though, I will give them that.
