CLEOPATRA

I discovered this by accident. I love it so much, and my room smells like a sweet. Very delicious. I suppose it can be classified as gourmand. It should be more popular. The price, a total steal! Love it!!

Not a point by point clone of the current Magie Noire formulation, but it has similarities with the woods and spices at the mid and drydown. This is smokier and more leathery than Magie Noire and lasts for several hours on my skin (12+ hours, could be longer if I didn't bathe). 50 SAR is a steal for a bottle and its juice.

Cleopatra by Al-Rehab Everything stated about this fragrance is misleading. Even the ancient Egyptian styling on the bottle isn't consistent. The cap is actually shaped more like an mushroom beginning to decompose, or perhaps one of those oversized floppy berets common in the 16th Century. (However, the hieroglyphic cartouche shown is one historically used to signify Cleopatra.) As for the fragrance itself is not primarily a vanilla or tonka scent. Indeed, most of its listed notes seem wrong. Nor does it smell anything like Magie Noire, except in the general sense that they are both volatilely powerful scents. Instead, Cleopatra is the most overwhelming, piercingly sharp floralchouli scent I have smelled in quite awhile. Imagine ylang-ylang, peony, fruity notes,and patchouli all dialed up to 11 on a scale of 10, and pitched as treble as possible. This is rather amazing, ...and for most people and situations, entirely unwearable. If you are familiar with Al-Rehab's Rasha (which is also truly a patchouli scent, though not listed as such on Fragrantica), then know that Cleopatra is vaguely similar, but much, much more screechingly sharp. To be honest, the unsuspected blindsiding shock of Cleopatra's true nature leaves me flabbergasted. Edit: Two days later, on the blotter, the scent has died down to a bearable, but still rather bold, woody floral. Amazing, really.
