Cobra

I don ́t think this is a Poison dupe. It actually has the same spirit as Poison and Opium and other big classics from the 80 ́s, or even older spicy classics like Maja. But I don ́t really smell the grapes here. The first thing I smell when applying this beauty is cloves. Strong and fresh cloves, followed by dry bay leaves and perhaps thyme and bitter orange. At this point this is more like a men ́s classic fragance (I smell Agua Brava by Puig). About 5 minutes later there comes the oily tuberose and the indolic, dirty jazmine enveloping those cloves and bay and more citrus (perhaps bergamote or bitter orange) and some acid red fruit. When the tuberose and jazmine show up this turns into a very feminine fragance. There is some sweetness under the spicy cloud I can ́t identify. Vanilla?. Lots of inciense too, the kind of ceremonial inciense in Catholic churches and processions. Very rich, opulent inciense wich is very different from the incense sticks you can burn at home. That ́s the kind of inciense I smell here. After some hours this beast calms down into something woody, somehow cleaner and a bit soapy, reminiscent of black Magno soap by La Toja. And actually some hours after the dry down, all I smell is old black La Toja ́s Magno soap, as if I were right out of the shower and had scrubbed myself with La Toja ́s Magno bath gel. At this point this is totally unisex and clean. This is utterly beautiful, but not for the faint of heart. This is a bold attention seeker. If you love big, spicy classics, you ́ll love this. Smells like a very expensive vintage and lasts sooooo long I can smell this the following day and even after two showers. If you can get over the men ́s cologne opening this is absolutely beautiful and sexy.

New Update: I combine this with some amber musc and White Musk by Al Rehab. very pretty. Worth a try - When I first received this, I was not sure that I would like it because it is not my standard thing. But it turns out that it is beautiful and very long lasting. I am so in love with Arabians. What a great value!! When I think of how much regular perfume I have - bursting at the seams here - and I always reach for my Arabian oils - This one in particular is strong and long lasting. On me, it has a very fresh and pretty dry down. Update: I had this on yesterday (no Prada) and was helping my son move, of all things. My husband showed up mid-move and walked up to me and said, "you smell really good". shocking. I wore it to work today (not a lot) but no one noticed or commented. I do notice that my bedroom smells beautiful when I wear this. I think the dry down is very different on me than what others report. On me, hours later, this smells very fresh. I actually do get a lot of compliments when I wear this. A stranger in the elevator just yesterday told me that I smelled amazing -

Review for the oil attar : Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Syrupy tuberose over dry incense. It would be great if Frangantica added the notes above. What Cobra smells like on me : - top notes (an hour or so) : red fruits and berries, tuberose. - middle notes (6 to 8 hours) : more and more tuberose. Some dry spices, perhaps cinnamon and coriander. Slightly indolic jasmine. Sandalwood. Powdery musk. Cedar and vetiver maybe, but I'm not sure. - base notes (7 hours and so on) : dry and smoky incense. Loads of it. More sandalwood. A touch of vanilla. Indistinctive white flower mix. White musk, which was a big disappointment for me. I HATE white musk, but I feel like it's mascarading itself as powdery goodness here, along with the velvety feel of the sandalwood. I love Cobra ! Honestly, I don't think it's that similar to vintage Poison (at least on me). Cobra is cleaner, drier, fruitier, not as dark. Sillage was moderate, and longevity enormous like most oil-based frangrances. If your skin is anything like mine and eats up frangrances like crazy, this may last for 10 hours tops on you.

literally no clue what the notes are, but I LOVE this, or rather LOVED this. I used to wear this every single day a couple years back. So now smelling it reminds me of being on a public transport on my way to school as I was doing my makeup and applying this perfume. I still really like this but I think I'm a bit over it now. many people think I'm wearing cologne when I have this on. I can see that. It smells strong and protective and safe. Like if I imagined a "dream guy", you know a man with only green flags, a man that is unconventionally attractive, a man that everyone wants cus they think he's within arms reach, the type of man people settle for, but are happy to settle for, that man would wear this scent. I liked this scent as it would last all day, and people could smell it on me as I passed by. It smells a little smoky, a little oudy, a little ambery, but not too much of anything where someone would identify what the smell was. When I ask my friends what this smells like they just say "it smells like you", not able to attribute any specific notes to it.

Gonna try with this one...it's Poisonesque. It's similar but not a dupe or a "in the spirit of" perfume. It definitely has its own unique combination. I feel slightly helpless because I could not find any definitive notes for this and I can only say this is delicious and I want more! I know there a heady flower that remains throughout and from the above descriptions above, most say it's tuberose but I have never smelled tuberose that wasn't surrounded by copious amounts more white florals. This has something different. Something heavy and deep almost like fruit just ripe to eat...maybe plums or berries? Then a smoky honey smell...I'll be honest, I haven't smelled Poison since the 80's so I really don't know if these two smell anywhere close to each other but all I can say is YUM! If you like heavy hitters, get this. If you like beasts, get this. If you enjoy fragrances like VW Boudoir, Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant or Tigre..this may be for you! For the price it's worth it. I do believe it's unisex. And, I am thrilled with my purchase!

*** * The Vibe **** Very Intoxicating **** This is a favorite of mine. I was standing near an attractive woman in a store and I was smelling the best aroma ever! It was leaving a trail. I HAD to ask her what perfume she was wearing, and she said "Dior Poison & Patchouli oil" . When I went home I tried it. I was in heaven! * My Poison is gone and I have replaced it with Cobra. ( I can't tell any difference. ) * Scent lingers for hours. * Warm rich incense, sweet tuberose, creamy musk, carnation,sandalwood, maybe cedar is what I smell. * Makes your eyes roll back with joy! It smells so good. * I have the Cobra roller ball oil. I only apply a small dab of this on my wrist. (with Patchouli oil next to it) Believe me ,a small amount radiates up. It's very strong. Cobra is easily a stand alone perfume. It's also great for layering. * very inexpensive...unbelievable! Long lasting / Big silage Rating it a 10/10 .....Can't stop sniffing...... I'm so happy I asked her what she was wearing!

I absolutely love this perfume - I'm a woman, by the way. I don't agree that it is a man's fragrance, as my husband could not possibly wear this, he wouldn't want to go around smelling of luscious flowers because it doesn't 'go' with a rugby shirt and beard! Some men could get away with it, but for me, it's totally feminine - 'floaty silk scarves and pretty blouses' smell. I think it's a matter of what individual people can smell, and how it mixes with your own personal chemistry. I didn't like it to start with; it just smelled 'strong', before I understood what I was smelling, but I won't be without it now. It lasts a good 6 hours+, but I don't find people recoiling from the silage, so can only presume it's moderate on me.I do have to apply quite a bit to get a good fragrance going and for it to last - not sure why it lasts so long on others - wish it lasted longer on me. Fragrance 10/10 Longevity 8/10 Silage 7/10 Confidence support 11/10

Powdery, dry and intensely resinous oriental with a heavy dose of white ivory soap (almost reminds me of Irish Spring). Very, very white floral and very, very '80s! Definitely has nothing to do with the modern Poison as there is nothing fruity or sweet about this. Very unisex and would wear as well on an '80s big-haired power suit woman as it would as a man's soapy leather barbershop fragrance. By far the most beautiful, rich and expensive smelling Al-Rehab oil I've tried so far, and those who love '80s classics like Opium and Samsara would find a lot to love here so long as you don't mind that '80s heaping dose of baby powder soapiness :) the oil lasts for several days too and while it's mostly linear it becomes more woody and sensual as time passes. I'm a total fan! And that's coming from someone who generally doesn't like tuberose, and this has so much tuberose. An absolute steal for the price.

I smeared the roll-on attar up and down my arms, and now I'm in luxurious heaven! To my nose, Al Rehab's 'Cobra' is very-similar to Jeanne Arthes 'Cobra', which I found from a Russian seller who periodically lists a few for sale. It's been discontinued, and in short supply. Honestly though, I like Al Rehab's rendition better: it's stronger/more potent, and far less-expensive. I understand the references to 'Poison', but the prominent grape-tuberose accord is not noticeable to me in 'Cobra'; rather, it opens with soapy aldehydes and sweet florals, and as the top fades, the spiciness becomes apparent... so I can see comparisons to Samsara and Opium that others mention. yet, it's its own thing... I think any lovers of vintage spicy orientals should grab a bottle. It's lovely, long-lasting, very 80's-era- love it!

Since the main notes are missing from the page: Top: Tuberose, Spicy Middle: Musk, Vanilla Base: Fruity Notes, Wood I have the oil. On my skin, I get a very soapy musk. I am hoping that the other notes will develop if I let this sit for a while. Update: I know get the sweet, animalic incense I think it is supposed to be. The berry note is so faint that it is more of a suggestion. I love it so much that I purchased a 6 pack. It layers beautifully with other autumn and winter fragrances. If this is what the original Poison was, I mourn never having smelled it. I have the current Poison, and that is so fruit forward that it is more reminiscent of a BBW fragrance. It's just a shadow of the richness of this fragrance.

I remember Poison from the late 80's and I couldn't stand it. However, being inquisitive, I saw that Cobra is likened to Poison and instead of forking out on vintage Poison, I thought I'd try this and see if I like that kind of fragrance now. I've been wearing it all day. I do like it. It's not a typically sweet white flower perfume you might get with a tuberose heavy scent. It is sultry, deep, sexy, powdery, vintage and definitely reminds me of that powerhouse vintage Poison. Now I'm a little bit older (how time flies!), I appreciate this dupe. And it most certainly is a dupe of the vintage, because apparently it was first produced a few years after the first Poison went to market.

Wow what a badass fragrance! Not for the fainthearted... While this is an extremely potent and longlasting attar I do encourage you to try and give it some time to develop on the skin. It is a warm day today and I rubbed some onto my wrist...I get tuberose and spices including coriander in the opening, then lots of incense, animalic notes and vanilla. A bold statement fragrance that gives you something to think about as it unfolds. Cant' see how anyone would call this one a meh... it's more of a love or hate thing here. This could easily be passed off as a very expensive fragrance and of course it is not, so give it a try and see if it floats your boat.

POTENT. It's very love/hate. Spicy floral oriental...something. It's loud in the same way that Paloma Picasso is loud. I kind of love it, though What are the notes? Who knows. I personally smell cinnamon, clove, saffron, rose, jasmine, geranium, tuberose, and I dunno, a whole bunch of other shit? I cannot emphasize enough that it's HYPER-POTENT. Like, when I got it, I left my *tiny, tightly-capped* bottle on a bookshelf behind my couch, and it created a 6-sq-foot aura of like spicy 80s bitchy sexy big-hair power-suit shoulder-pads lady that lingered for days. I hope you like this stuff, bc you will never get away from it once you open it

I fell in love with this beautiful scent first time out of the gate. I then gifted my new rollerball, then recently replaced it. This is a white floral scent. It's beautiful. But in the AC, and with Susan on my other hand, this has almost a plastic note that I didn't get before. I think it works better in the heat. I get patchouli, fruit, and sandalwood in the development? It's another elegant scent, but less opulent than Susan, I think. It also has less obvious tuberose. This is more about the overall bouquet than the single bloom. It's a gorgeous scent that absolutely thrives in the heat.

Bought this based on reviews. Thought it might be suitable for my boyfriend. When it arrived I tested a little on my inner elbow. Oh man. I am a lover of heady sillage fragrances, and spice, and white florals. This ticks all the boxes. It's fresh, spicy, some kind of zestiness in the heart reminds me of when you dig your thumbnail into an orange and the bitter oils spray up towards your face. I have ordered a second one for the boyfriend, as this little bottle of attar is mine, all mine. :)

Big, powerful, entrancing, complex oriental. Only needs a dab of the oil, I think it would become a bit suffocating if applied too lavishly, in much the same way as over-spraying with Poison /Opium /Samsara or similar can choke out a whole room. Used sensibly it is a sensuous delight with development over several hours and a delightful drydown of incense and hints of vanilla, amongst other notes. Very happy indeed with this one.

This smells exactly like my memory of Poison. Maybe a touch more powdery, but I'm dredging Poison's scent from memory from around 1992, it was one my mum's friend always wore. It's spicy, it feels a bit incensey. Very strong. Performs brilliantly if you happen to be in a room heated by a log fire, incidentally. The smell of wood smoke mingled with the heat, and this fragrance, it's an experience that is just amazing.

Looking at the many recent negative leaning reviews, I am wondering if this Al Rehab oil has been reformulated? Sure, the "old" Cobra was never an easy to love crowd pleaser, but it used to be a fifty fifty between lovers and haters. I hate to think that nowadays even the cheapies might be killed by formula changes ...

I honestly don't understand all of the comparisons to Poison. I have Poison and I have Cobra. The two smell VERY different. Yes, they are both strong orientals - but Poison has a dominant plum note while Cobra has more of an eastern vibe. Cobra is totally Head shop incense - while Poison is simply Poison.

I’m impressed with this, it has the backbone that current formulation Poison lacks. I have the rollerball oil version and I use the newer Poison sprayed over top. I then get the 80s vintage version I remember! It is great on its own though as I love the incense note it has. Great value!

Larger than life. Stronger than death. Lasts for eternity. Narcotic, opulent tuberose and incense in the spirit of Poison. Love. Remind me why I've been paying £££ for designer fragrances when this is available for next to nothing?

This stuff smells on me, exactly like unreformulated Poison. Spicy, gigantic, gorgeous to some and unbearable to others, a true powerhouse of a scent with spices and wet dark fruits and flowers in the opening.

I don't usually wear florals and loathe tuberose as a noticeable note, but this is gorgeous. Warm, fruity florals, and incense.

Others have said it much better than I can so I'll use just one sentence. Glorious tuberose 1980s bomb.

I get tuberose and jasmine, and its amazingly strong. Too floral for me. I might try blending it.

the smell of Oud is very strong and obvious

ive never smelt original dior poison but through all the research ive done about fragrances, original vintage poison has always been recommended to me. as im unable to access that right now (maybe if im very lucky one birthday in the future) i heard there were comparisons made with this oil. at first i really didnt like it.. very rose heavy and heady to my nose but i couldnt shake this strange nostalgic feeling whenever i smelled it. mind you, im unable to possibly be nostalgic for a fragrance ive never had the pleasure of smelling, and im unsure if its the vintage-like profile that it making me feel like that... but theres something comforting in this scent for me. its warm and musky but after letting it air out a little its soft and floral and somewhat fruity in a very unusual way. i got the roll on of this, not the spray.. and i wont be reaching for it very much as it is INSANELY strong.. but i do love it. maybe in a past life dior poison was my signature scent and it tugged on my heart strings in some way.. who knows c: <3

I recently order this because of the great reviews I read here. I can't say that I am head over heels in love with it, but I don't necessarily hate it either. It is extremely strong! I only ordered the oil, not the spray. You might think that it may not be very potent in oil form, but it is knock your socks off strong! To me, it smells very much almost like an incense scent. I mainly get inscence, musky wood, zero fruitiness and only minimal floral. I know there is supposedly tuberose, but honestly I can't pick it up. I wish I could, because that is one of my all-time favorite notes. This oil is a monster in terms of longevity. I dabbed a little on around 10 a.m. and it was still going nearly just as strong as first applied, at 9 p.m. at night. To help soften the scent, I layered some vanilla scented lotion before applying, and that seemed to sweeten it a bit. As for the comparison to Poison? I don't really find it similar at all. It's not too bad of a scent. Would I order another bottle once this is done? No.

This is for the 6ml oil Wow! What a powerhouse! There is tuberose, jasmine, spices and amber for sure! You're nutz if you can't smell incense in this! Also some Sandalwood, citrus and musk. Cobra surely deserves it's name. Super strong, creamy, dark and even a little dirty! Oh my, there's a little animolic note later on. It's tiny and almost smells like castorium. Maybe it's just a trick on my nose caused by vanilla and some sort of musky spice or seed but the castorium note is convincing. This is pretty complicated for such a low price! No real woods, balsams or purple fruit in this but it still reminds me of other big scents without actually smelling like any of them. It's in the same vein as Poison, Giorgio, Tabu, Opium and the like. I've smelled them all and Cobra doesn't smell like any of them but all of them at once. Cobra is crazy heavy like Al Rehab Randa (which I have trouble with) and maniacally floral like Al Rehab Nebras (which I flat out hate) But I really like this. Go figure!

Aha! It's here at last, and I'm smitten. :) Since I've never tried Jeanne Arthes Cobra, I have little to offer by way of comparison. What I HAVE observed is that Al Rehab's Cobra has a ton of spices and incense in it - resembling some of those 'health food store' perfume oils that claim to be made of real frankincense etc etc. This is a better blend than those, IMHO! It layers with astonishing good nature, transforming my Al Rehab Red Rose into a sultry beauty. Bargain Delight! Update - I now also smell jasmine and especially sweet tuberose. How did I miss that before??? TO sum up - Tuberose Incense with lovely undertones. I find it heavy handed on it's own but excellent for layering with sweeter, more girly scents to make them richer and deeper. The spray is less potent, and more useful for this purpose, somehow, than the almost industrial strength of the oil. Even so, a little of the spray still goes a long way!

Cobra did NOT match its name at all. I thought I was going to get something dark, oriental, incensy and woodsy. Instead I get a very sweet big white floral fragrance. It is not to say that it isn't lovely, it really is. If you like sweet white florals it is very nice. It's just not what I expected. I'd love to know what the notes are though, simply because my review does not come close to matching the others here? This fragrance is very pretty, heady and long-lasting. And it is not at all uni-sex...I cannot believe that my review is for the fragrance listed above, really doesn't match at all? But, I am wearing Cobra..I'm looking at the bottle now. lol.

I wish I knew the notes in this because I'm not able to distinguish one from the other. I will say this.. It is STRONG and I am thinking that I overdid this one. It is however very nice and perhaps sweet. Not in the gourmand fruity sweet kind if way, more like Tabu sweet., at least on my skin. It was a blind buy and so far no regrets on this one. It is funny how I wore a Serge Lutens to church this morning and a few hours later it was barely detectable, and the sillage on the SL was never that strong. However, this little roll on could literally take your breathe away. I would love to smell it on a man, with the right chemistry it would be beautiful.

For around 45 minutes, the scent is horrid. But then, the scent change into Poison by Dior. Not the one that I purchase years ago (around 2010) at airport duty free, but the small version (sample/mini) that I've had sniff from my mother's when I was a kid (around 1990). That dior scent only last for around 3 hours. Yes...the Dior from my mom slightly different from the one I purchase. So happy to purchase this only for 1$. --------- After 3 hours the scent change into woodsy or incense with a touch of smoke. With that kind of scent at the end, not really sure I'm brave enough to use it on public.

For a $6 oil clone, it's closer to Poison than I expected. It has it all; the deep juicy berries, spices, honeyed tuberose multifloral, vanilla, amber notes, and smoky musks. It develops to be very musky. Cobra resembles the heavy, glorious 1980s "kitchen sink" disasterpiece more than the lighter, wispy reformulation of Poison. I get headaches easily, and this is a concentrated, strong oil. A small dab of is plenty, applying any more than that could be fatal. Tread lightly, this Cobra bites.

Cobra reminds me of the flowers&spice part of Poison, but without the rich plum and maybe a bit more oriental. It is a heavy fragrance, so do not overapply! It has a vintage feel to it, and I think would be more suitable for the evening. In the beginning, the spiciness is very distinct. Later on, the sweet flowers come more and more to the foreground. It is a beautiful scent, but not that easy to wear for me. Maybe in winter to keep myself warm? (The review is for the oil.)

I might have let the ball roll one complete circle inside the crook of my left elbow. This warmed on my skin and filled the hall as a wall of scent to the elevator, six floors down, onto a streetcar, down into the subway filling my section of the car turning heads in confusion, amazement, and revulsion, following me home, into the shower, a night's sleep and into the next day. I'd call the sillage Titanic but this would have sunk the iceberg.

How is this so cheap? A beautiful perfume but a real knock em dead type. Don't go overboard with squirts or you may clear a room. I can't really smell Poison in here, not on my skin at least but I do smell Ysatis quite clearly. Must be my skin chemistry but it's lovely either way. If you like the heady 80s perfumes this will be a hit with you, and if not, at the price it is, you won't have broke the bank.

It's good sensual fragrance. But the proper way to apply this fragrance is this. Unscrew the cap touch roller ball the back of ear loob. Do the same with other ear. Do not and I repeat do not roll the ball on your skin for a stretch longer than 1 inch and never smell from the roller directly or you will be haunted by cobra for ever

This is a powerhouse!!!! Few drops (i've the oil version) will be enough to fill an entire HOUSE (yes...not only a room lol)! Excellent longevity (12+ H) and amazing sillage!.This is a bomb! The fragrance is good!! It's unisex and addictive, but be carefull, it is really super strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/10.

Opulent and narcotic, this is a love for me! Very potent and bold, white flowers packed with lovely incense and spices. It's everything that the reformulated Poison fails to deliver. This powerhouse stays with you all day. High end smell for the cheapest price, I don't see a reason not to try it.

Cobra is one of those perfumes that I keep around because they are lovely, but haven't really figured out yet when to wear them. As I see most think of it as a Fall/Winter perfume - well, it reminds me of Easter due to it's heavy sweet smell. Floral and honey tones are definitely there too.

A pretty strong oriental tuberose bomb. I dont think its like poison..but it is along those lines. Super long lasting and sillage for an oil. Theres something attractive about it. This isnt for meek or light scent lovers.

A rich, dark, cross between Passion and Poison, but not completely like either of the two. Definitely unlike the modern perfumes we're used to smelling.

very similar and very close to "susan" al rehab. but i like more susan than cobra. this is very powdery with hint smell i dont know maybe venom. this is potent strong oil.be careful. i am just Ok with cobra.

!My wife purchased this based on reviews from some woman here claiming this is feminine. Unfortunately my wife found this to be very masculine and gifted it to her brother, and he loved it. She first offered it to me but it smells too musky for my taste. As for the ladies here calling this feminine? I disagree. It's definitely a man's scent. My wife is extremely feminine so she only likes the real girly scents, which I prefer on her as well. As for her brother that received Cobra from her, He's a 250+ pound 6'2" bodybuilder and former semi pro football player. If he likes it, then I would assume he finds it masculine as well. All in all, another great buy from the House of Al Rehab. P.S. No offense to the women that wears this, I realize some women like to smell masculine, but I'm so happy my wife is not into these manly scents. This is one rugged, musty, in your face fragrance. There is nothing feminine about it. It's dirty like a man's locker room.

My friend blind-bought Cobra and was horrified by it. So she gave it to me ha. I have never owned Dior's Poison but I have tested it in the shops, and I cannot understand the comparison of Cobra with Poison. I agree with the reviewers who say that this smells like the incense they burn in those quirky alternative shops. I'm not sure what the particular incense is called but it is not Nag Champa and it is not liturgical (frankincense/myhrr etc). It's dusty, floral, almost talc-y, POTENT; not a bad smell in and of itself but it is a "smell" rather than a "perfume". I've tried to find a way to make it work but I feel like my nose is being assaulted when I wear it. I resorted to rolling it on my car upholstery and hoped it'd be better as an ambient smell but it's still just as overwhelming. And it smells so very strongly and it lasts so very longly!! I think it's going to need to go to the perfume afterlife aka I think I'm going to throw it away.

When I first put this on I kept getting wafts of LouLou, which I love. After a few minutes it turned into a bag of holiday potpourri from the dollar store or a very cheap, low quality holiday candle, or a loud carpet deodorizing powder. It’s been an hour now and it’s still staying strong at this unpleasant aroma. Choco Musk and Golden Sand are wonderful but this one freaks me out. When I read that it smells like vintage Poison, I had to try it. I have a scent memory of when I was little, in the 80s, and my mom had a little splash of Poison in a green bottle that I would steal sniffs of because it was intoxicating. Maybe I’m just remembering it wrong, or maybe she had a different formulation, but this isn’t what I hoped for.

If you are searching for something very heady on incense with the aura of the vintage Poison, give this a try. It's like a sweeter version, but with a big blast of incense. It's actually quite nice, but also strong and heady, reminding me slightly on head shops filled with incense sticks. Like Poison, this is an bold attention seeker. Edit: Had just a dab on my wrist - was forced to wash it off and open all windows, that I could breath again properly. Very potent indeed. For my liking a little too much of the incense.
