Dehn Al Oud

I must agree with No True Scotsman. A lovely, wearable oud which layers beautifully. Though not for the oud beginner (then I would recommend the soft and sweet Sultan Al Oud), this fragrance truly impresses me with it's simple goodness. My first impression was quite different. It seemed to me rather strong and hard to wear, but intriguing nonetheless.... Why? The top notes are louder and what a friend of mine terms 'nasty' wood. So true, but I quite like nasty sometimes! A certain aspect of the opening reminds me of a pet shop - all those cedar shavings. There's an edge here that could also conjure up gasoline fumes. This opening phase is short lived on me. Soon a surprisingly well blended oud takes over. Far less funky smelling than the opening led me to believe! It's mild mannered and perfectly balanced as unisex. Slightly peppery, slightly sweet. Like others here, I smell a gentle something with the wood which could easily be beeswax or a hint of honey. NICE. In fact, comforting and grounding. Woody fragrance lovers take note. :) To sum up: Dehn Al Oud could easily be done better by many a middle eastern perfumery, but I doubt it's been done better at this price! For what it is, a very enjoyable, dare I say classic, attar. Three Stars - Four if it had greater longevity. But for three dollars, I'm certainly not complaining!

There is so much perfume snobbery towards Al-Rehab. They almost all begin with an overwhelming, overly complex blast of competing notes but usually settle into something well worth waiting for. I also totally understand why so many buyers more used to western fragrances just don't like oud (it is different!). That is unless it has a hefty price tag or a cool brand attached to it. Maybe it's the hippie pacifist in this man but I love smelling of calming, reassuring, warm woody notes. There's definitely an air of soft beeswax here which works wonderfully on me. Maybe a very, very slight amber as well. It has an incense type vibe and reminds me a little of how 1990s hippie shops used to smell in the UK. Dehn Al Oud is no pheremone bomb for young people to woo each other at a club. Instead, it's a very comforting outdoorsy, dry foresty smell that will suit people 35+ who are accepting of their own identity. It can be worn day or night and lasts well.

Was really scared of this perfume because of all the negative reviews. Many people do not understand oud-type scents and find them revolting or weird. Not me. I know this is a synthetic our,not the real deal bit I like it a lot. Yes,it has a strong medicinal undercurrent in it and it is bitterly woody. Past the first few minutes,it becomes a nice incensey skin scent on me. It is Summer now and the warm woody smell suits my mood v well. It seems exotic and comforting in the same time and I know I wear something less usual. This can also be layered w other warm scents like Coco Musk which is vanillaey. Dehn Al Oud is also v animalistic and attractive ,IMO. I mixed Sultan Al Oud w vanilla scents before and it was a perfect head-turner. This will turn out similarly. Right now I am wearing it on my own and keep sniffing myself.

I am an avid Arabic oud collector and this one works well on my skin and is remarkably similar to Dior Leather Oud, with its beeswax, animalic and oudy notes. I agree that this smells horrible when first applied as the animalic note is very prominent on application and for about 25 minutes. Please let this settle on your skin before scrubbing, as it will settle to a sweet, dirty fragrance, albeit one which is perhaps an acquired taste. For lovers of civet and oud, this is an absolute masterpiece. As others here have said, this is not a sillage monster, but longevity seems above average, as is the case with most Al-Rehab perfume oils.

I'm going to keep this review very simple. I smell musk, oudh, frankincense, myrrh, cedar, cinnamon, dates, and honey. I think if this composition had an evocative, abstract title like 'Wooden Villa', or 'Honeyed Dates on a Wooden Plate', it would receive more praise, instead of the criticism for its tiny portion of oudh. I find it calming, irresistible, and nourishing for my soul. Love.

This smell like Montale Dark Aoud, but more softer. I smell this in a store and i was like " this smell like my montale , i will buy it " I dont have any complain ,except the 2h lasting on my skin vs 24h on skin and 1 mounth on cloathes lol. But 80% of fragrances last on me 2-4h and that is ok i guess. Also i will carry the roll on with me and use it when i want.

Im back , i was wrong about the performance on my skin , it last around 4-6h and first 2h are good, then is close to the skin. But you have to aply a little more. I compare this with montale dark aoud , is almost the same fragrance (for me montale have the better quality ) this smell a little bit more sweeter , maybe becouse of the honey note.

I wish I'd tried this one sooner. The initial blast was like a light version of Wrights coal tar soap, which I love. It quickly settled down into a very pleasant wood. Its lovely, round and smooth. I'm wearing this on one wrist and Rawan on the other, and they complement each other beautifully.

I think it's something like church incense. Somebody mentioned beeswax, it definitely does have that scent in the mix, I think some patchouli too. I'm using the oil.

I like it very much, this is my dream scent, people who like oriental perfumes can appreciate the good wood smell

Bought this out of curiosity. The first five seconds were awful.Bitter. I almost want to wash it off. But then...... The scent calming and change into something that reminds me of a temple in Japan...very woodsy and calming. A scent that I can imagine to smell it from a male. I don't think I want to put this scent on me due to too manly, no feminine scent even an inch. Maybe...just maybe. I will mix this with Cherry Flower or maybe something smell rosey to add a feminine touch. ==============mix update============== Dehn al oud x Cherry Flower Lots of CF with a bit of DAO. I love it. The girlish CF mature faster, so no dizzy effect anymore. It's no longer just flowery but also woodsy. The dry down is feminine woodsy. Al Rehab is fun for playing around.

3ml oil. More of a woody variant of an Oud scent. For me - Sharp, synthetic, simple, soapy. Strong and long. Not particularly complex or pleasant for me, but recommended to buy if you are exploring Oud. One finds out what one likes by trying, and at this price, it is a no-brainer! Our body chemistry and lifestyle are half of our impression of a perfume, methinks. Read my review of Mokhalat for some more comments on the Al Rehab perfume range and Oud. There is also a warning about fakes in that review. Yes, 2.50 euro fakes of 3 euro perfumes! As with all Al Rehab oil fragrances - apply to pulses, start with wrists, and be aware it might actually get stronger after an hour or two. Tread lightly!

It smells great. Not as avant-garde as Musk Makkah, but it's among Al-Rehab's more challenging ouds. I'm hit with peppery spices, the warm, piquant smell of cumin, cedarwood, amber, musks, smoky leather, and tarry oud. Strangely, no honey to be found here. Warm, woody, smoky, peppery, very dry. It might make some think "barnyard", but I've smelled plenty of barnyards, and I think this oil smells like a good BBQ sauce. All the same, not a beginner friendly oud. It's certainly more weird and challenging than the cavalcade of syrupy sweet, gourmand ouds. The oil is a golden color, and the box suggests Al Rehab is using natural components. Take care, a lot of them stain clothing.

I originally purchased a set of Al-Rehab oils back in the spring and after trying them all, this one landed in the "re-home" pile --- well I was revisiting my perfumes set aside to get rid off and tried this one again --- Wow! Perhaps now that it is cold weather, this smells different, but it has moved back onto my keep shelf! :) I do get the earthy, dirt type scent upon first application, but I like it because it smells interesting and different -- quickly this dries down to a really nice dry woody, almost sweet mossy scent that I am loving. I am getting "Alaskan rain forest vibes" from this scent and am glad I retried this before getting rid of it!

🙂 the reviews for this one were fun. there was everything here from barns, to wet kittens, to the home depot's lumberyard. this was my very first time trying "oud". initially, there was an unpleasant tar-like, rubbery scent. (like when the street's being re-paved.) but within minutes it completely morphed into thee most authentic, beautiful, wood i've ever smelled. it's a very raw, freshly cut cedar. definitely, definitely masculine, but if layered with something sweet, it'd be nice on a woman. longevity and sillage are good. autumn to winter. for adults of either gender. adds substance to "flat" fragrances. natural and "earthy".

I can't say I get a strong honey in this. More of a beeswax? There is some sweetness, but overall it smells very raw. Like the whole comb. Dehn Al Oud is woody/peppery. Sometimes I use it for layering, but mostly I like to wear it on it's own. It's quite strong and 3 swipes of the rollerball will give you pretty huge sillage. I recommend buying this first if you have never tried an oud fragrance. Easily obtained between $5-$10 and pretty straightforward.

I get wood and vetiver. Honey only in the beginning. I have the oil version, and I sprayed on the top Tea Rose on one wrist and Jovan musk on the other one, and it smells better. I do not like mix fragrances, but I am trying with this one to decrease a little bit the fecal sweet smell I got after 2 hours of wearing it.

I was certainly not expecting the scent of deep wood whenever I opened this bad boy up, but the best way to describe this fragrance is a humid forest, the wood is saturated with the moisture in the air, and the green envelops you into a completely natural world, so foreign yet so familiar. The scent of the forest floor and a whiff of sweet swap seeping out of a redwood tree. This smells like a dense, wet forest. Incredibly earthy and familiar, yet foreign and alien in a special way! Definitely unisex, but leans more towards a comforting older male figure. Like an uncle or father!

I can’t explain this, but the fragrance smells like the Metropolitan Museum of Art to me. It opens in a very harsh and unpleasant manner but a few minutes later, it’s dried down and an hour or so later it actually smells sweet as surprising as that sounds! I had to try it because of the very strong reviews it receives! Definitely not my favorite, but not as bad as people say

Sweetened, resinous woods and a slightly animalic oud are the main features in this one. Reminds me very much of the underrated Halston Man Amber, but with some added lumber yard and barnyard in there. Not in a terrible way, but enough that some may find it a bit challenging. Not bad.

I bought this from amazon out of curiosity, as I was determined to find an oud that works on me. This little bottle is so pretty and the unique packaging (oblong triangular box shape) gives the impression of something really special. Alas, this is wretched; not just on my skin but as soon as I took off the cap I got a distinct medicinal scent that reminded me of something that I've wracked my brain trying to figure out. Cedar closet? Tincture of Merthiolate? Cough syrup? What?!?! I applied some to my skin and within an hour had to wash it off because it is just pungent and unpleasant. No miraculous transformation on my skin as I had hoped. I do not smell honey, neither do I detect anything floral, sweet or fresh. Then the other day it hit me like a bolt from the blue: it smells just like mothballs soaked in Robitussin cough syrup. I'm keeping it because I like the bottle but the scent is hideous.

This was a blind buy since I love some soft oud fragrances and saw Dehn Al Oud on Amazon so I bought it. Pretty bottle for perfume oil that lasts a long time unfortunately. I love amber and honey scents so I assumed this will be perfect for me - wrong! It has an animalic scent at opening that caused me to race to wash my hand where I tested it. This is perfume oil so that scent stayed with me after after scrubbing with scented soaps! The best way to describe this scent on my skin is a freshly washed wet kitten, not bad if you like animal scents but this is not how I want to smell! This was a fail for me! Try before you buy this perfume oil.

well I have liked the ouds I have tried so far, and I have also been very pleased with the al-rehab range that I have tried. This however, no. It did not work for me. In the bottle it smelled OK, very oudy but once I put it on my skin this transformed into something terrible - something like a 3:1:1 ratio of creosote:cigarette ash:faecal matter. Not good. I didn't detect any real oud smell, no sweetness at all, definitely no honey or floral notes. This was a disaster for me, a shame as I have enjoyed the others I have tried so far (saat safa, aroosah, al-shariquah, dalal). This may work better for others, but a definite no no for me!

I really wanted to like this since I'm such a fan of oud and wood-forward perfumes, but this is just too sharp for me. It doesn't smell like turpentine to me, but it's just too sharp/vintage medicine cabinet/freshly cut lumber for me and not enough warmth and restraint. The dry down (which doesn't take that long for me) is a little more rounded, but still sharper than I like my wood scents. However, I don't find it nearly as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be, just too sharp, like freshly cut, wet cedar, without enough depth or spice to round it out and balance the notes.

This review is based on the attar version of this perfume. I really wanted to like this one but it was pretty bad. My wife made me scrub it off immediately (first time she's made that comment about a perfume). it is very MEDICINAL. The comment about mothballs is pretty accurate. After scrubbing at it twice with alcohol pads and washing my wrist I still had a light skin scent.

Simple, slightly sweet, lots of wood, some oud. Simple. I don't get much else, perhaps a bit of cinnamon and leather in the background. I really didn't like this one for myself so I gave it to my husband. He wore it the other day and I really like the way it smells on him. He likes it too. This one seems to be geared more toward a man's chemistry.

The first minute is awful! Then you can feel the classic Oriental scents, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Pretty average wood - oud combination. It can work as a daily wear, but I'd advise against it for most Western men. You have to be a personality of a kind for this to work on you.

This is for the 6ml oil Starts off oud al cedar chest with heavy myrrh dry down. Not bad but not very unisex in my opinion. Dehn Al Oud is extremely manly. Not feminine at all or at least not by it's self anyway. Maybe layered it would give a strong dry wood note.

This what a smelled when i was going to the doctor at my chiled hood ..no way this is a perfum..this is on my skin..mybe for someone else its good...but to me Go for sultan al oud its is way way superior.. Thank you

Not oud at all. It is just a blend of a 3-4 synthetic esters (benzotes and salicylates) in vegetable oil. You get what you pay for. Not impressed at all.

So NOT for Women, in my opinion. Nothing remotely feminine or unisexual about this. Disappointed because I love all the other Arabians I've purchased...

It smells exactly like turpentine to me, I read a bunch of reviews and some people claimed it changed over time so I left it on for about an hour and a half on a spot on the back of my hand.. I have no clue who thinks this smells nice.. after an hour and a half and developing a mild headache I finally washed it off, it had faded a tiny amount and you could start to tell there was some kind of wood scent buried beneath the paint stripper but it still smelled strongly of turpentine to me, I don't care if this transforms into the nicest smelling wood in the world after it fades down, you'd have to spend hours smelling exactly like you've gone mad and soaked yourself in turpentine first, I might put some on a test strip and see if it ever changes but it's never going back on my skin in a million years, do not blind buy, it's the worst scent I own

Bought this after trying "Golden Sand" and using it as a fragrance additive. Figured this would also work as a fragrance additive component since these oils never project or leave a good trail. 24OCT22 (Arrival day): Phewgh...this is NOT what I expected! Such a biting hit to the nose on first application. I didn't expect this to be so...uh...sharp (As the previous reviewers mentioned). I'll have to try and tamp down the biting profile of this with some vanilla and see if I can make it wearable. Cause the way it comes from the factory...that isn't gonna wear well AT ALL! My friggin eyes are watering...lol. EDIT: Oh hell no...this ish smells like someone took WD-40 and put it in a damn roller bottle. This is awful!! Even the drydown doesn't smell good...wtf is this!? A waste of $8...that's what. Straight to the trash!

This is not for the faint hearted, or for those who faint easily. It is one of them rotten-like oud fragrances that I cannot stand. Unfortunately, I blind bought it which was the biggest mistake of my life. I feel sick to the stomach smelling this. I am sure some people enjoy these types of fragrances but I cannot be anywhere near it, despite being arab myself. Very strong and very oudy, not sweet in my opinion and smells almost like rotten wood IMO. Please do not take offence if you like this and by no means am I judging anyone, you do you. But DON'T BLIND BUY.

Hi, Guys, This is to all the perfume lovers, there is oud, some wood/cedar and myrrh at the background lingering, but I seriously doubt whether their is real oud in here, it might something of synthetic oud mixed with tinge of real oud, its like masking synthetics with something real oud, to bring forth the quality of barn like feel of real oud,the projection sits close to half a feet and after that its a skin scent, for those people who don't mind barn like oud or medicinal oud its for them,could be done a lot better like Al Haramain oudi is comparatively far better option than dehn al oud here, however if you go forth the intial half an a hour the scent comes along with honey like sweetness in a tiny bit lastly but the juice quality for the prize is amazing but the scent itself is for hardcore oud lovers, tried to layer it with Ajmal Dehn al oud and I actually died I have to remain in shower for half a day so please do not try and layer with other heavy oud scents if you care about your nose Regards Shajan

I just received this, opened the oil roll-on cap, and was immediately greeted with a time warp back to kindergarten age me, in the early to mid 90s. Something hugely nostalgic and beautiful about this. It might be playground wood chips mixed with plastic childrens furniture. Hard to say, but I am looking forward to revisiting this and understanding more. Blown away by the low price and weirdness explored by some of these Al-Rehab oils. It's refreshing exploring the huge range of price and quality out there, and then finding my way back to the cheapest options out there. Highly recommend checking out this Saat Safa, Sultan, Sultan Al Oud, and Musk Makkah for some outside the box cheapie fun for those who like more challenging, old school, or earthy scents. They give some scents that are 10x their cost a run for their money.

Ive tried a lot of al rehabs & been very impressed with nearly all of them..... except this one. I get hardly any oud from it, more a dry wood note with a little honey in the background. for the price you cant really complain but with a name like Dehn Al Oud, id expect to be getting something closer to a traditional oud scent. This is maybe the weakest Al Rehab ive tried too, but again for the price, you cant complain or expect too much.

I always read negative comments carefully being aware of the potential of biased attitude of the reviewer which distorts the actual true nature of the perfume in question! And mostly negative reviews are a result of haste and lesser experience of a person. All the best buddy! Keep up the great work!

My nose has evolved over the past 2 years (my fragrance journey) I absolutely hated this first whiff, I sat on it for 6 months to rediscover it. It's very dry and woody. If you like fresh scents, you wont dig this. If you want something slightly daring, Id say pull the trigger. I get dry animalic wood with a small touch of honey. Goes great with a bbq or campfire

This is a very honest wood, the kind you might find laying around the fireplace. It isn't really sweet I don't get honey i get more of a very natural wood that might have some dirt on it. (Patchouli note perhaps?) And a bit of spice. I think with these Al rehabs all the notes aren't listed. Id definitely say patchouli and spice cardamon or clove.

Starts off a bit screechy but quickly levels down to an awesome blend of cedar and myrrh. Great on its own but shines when you layer. I like to combine this with al rehab's Avenue (Aventus dupe) which adds a slight touch of fruit and smoke. That combination has gotten me more compliments than any other fragrance I own!

It's a cheaper version of luxury ouds and quite synthetic, but heck it's $7. It comes out of the bottle as a total mistake (like cheap incense) but once it is on the skin it transforms into dry cedarwood with a sweet background and, of course, oud. Layers like wonder with floral, frutal and sweet citrus attars.

I am surprised at how many bad reviews there are. I get a lovely deep scent of dry wood, a bit of leather and soft tobacco and wax instead of honey. And maybe a little railway bridge, summer, dry grass. Cozy and soothing for me, a pleasant therapy. It takes about five hours. Very good oil for the price.

Yep, I also got a strong medicinal, almost pure dirt smell when I first applied it. Within 2 mins, it softened down to a gorgeous woody with notes of beeswax scent that was lovely. I would love to layer this one with something exotic like sandalwood or gourmand.

No honey sadly as I love honey notes, just woody out fragrance with a powdery note. It smells like what some of the older ladies wear in the masjid, it’s oddly comforting in that sense.

To me, this is EXACTLY the scent of deep rainforest. It's incredibly restful to me. My only gripe is that it is so light and the longevity isn't great.

Very pleasant smell, honey comes first then wood .The whole thing is simple and sweet , no harshness at all.It was a blind buy gone well. :o)

I love Oud Fragrances, especially the ones with Rose. This one is mixed w/ a 1920's medicine the Doc brought over in his bag. I hate it.
