Luzane

Luzane was my first introduction to Al-rehab, probably about a year ago now. At the time Fragrantica did not have it listed in its database, but I'm happy they have since added it. More people deserve to know about this hidden beauty, in my oppinion. This little guy (I have the rollerball oil version) was the sole reason I then went ahead and bought about ten more Al-rehabs to try out. And even though I now own and wear quite a few Al-rehabs, Luzane remains my favourte. I simply love this stuff. My observations have led me to the conclusion that on the Fragrantica boards the most popular Al-rehabs seem to be Soft, Chocomusk and Nebras. I have all, like all, but feel none of those reach the heights of Luzane. Now to the scent itself. Simply put, Luzane is fresh. To me, it is the kind of a clean out of the shower fresh fragrance. It is sort of an aqua rose with a bit of citrus luring in the background. Freshness from the water, cleanliness from the rose, bound together by the lovely aroma of lemongrass. The citrus part from the lemongrass, to my nose is noticable but quite faint. I mostly smell the aquatic notes and the lovely rose, but the citrus is still there and adds a little something to the composition. This doesn't have a crazy projection but the staying power is good even though it stays close to the skin. But that is what I want for this type of fragrance. I would never be afraid to put this on in any type of situation (I even wear this to the gym). It just refreshes you. Even though Luzane's more gourmand and louder Al-Rehab siblings seem to be more extoverted and attention grabbing, the excellent qualities of the softer spoken, more introverted sibling should not be ignored or forgotten. I personally think Luzane deserves a lot more attention and praise :) If you like fresh and clean scents then give it a go, I think it's worth it!

I've had Luzane in my collection for a couple of years now, and I love it for the Spring and Summer. It lasts well and has reasonable sillage but not overpowering(I hate making people cough because of my perfume!) I get the lemon in the opening, which hangs around for while and then the rose comes out, a beautiful blousey pink rose. There is also another flower, could be a soft jasmine,but very nice. The drydown is divine, with the rose deepening and joined by what I think is a musky-vanilla warmth and candles - I know, weird, but there's a lovely candle smell there too. I usually make sure I have a back-up roll-on of this one, same as Susan and Red Flower, as these three get a hammering during the warmer months. Also very nice layered with Miss Tutu, Milton Lloyd dupe of Chanel Coco Chanel, but the Luzane outlasts the 'Coco' by many hours.

Oh, I love this scent! It's a little soapy, a little appley, a little aquatic, a little rosy. It's what you would get if Tommy Girl and J'adore Dior had a baby. And it lasts for hours. Definitely one of my go-to scents.

This is really nice. A rosy, aquatic soapy scent. Something fresh and not overwhelming like many other Al-Rehabs. This smells of body lotions and makeup, it is so clean and clear you can wear it even under our terrible sun at 45°C and no one will be suffocated by your perfume. It's light in sillage but still noticeable and last a good few hours on my skin. It's still slightly sweet and fruity but not one of those cloying gourmands. It reminds me to some of those Adidas EDTs wich are perfect after training and a shower. Gave this to a teenage girl who thinks my fumes are "granny scents" and she loved it.

Oil Version: To my nose this is similar to tommy girl, without the super strong alcoholic blast I sniff as soon as I spray it. Very clean and simple, femmine, there is surely a faint jasmine note in this as well, the rose is not so detectable to me. The composition is fresh, the lemongrass and the water notes are predominant. This is a pretty composition and very easy to wear. A valid and cheap everyday scent, perfect for work. Sillage is moderate, it lasts 10 to 12 hours on my skin (and that is fantastic, since my skin "eats" scents)

Rose? Lemongrass?! Whaaa? This is all lilies to my nose, airy clean lilies rounded out with a bit of waxy sweetness and soft, almost fizzy spices. Like a mix of cream soda and ginger ale with big, white Easter or Madonna lilies and classic muguet (lily of the valley). I have the 6ml rollerball - dunno if that makes a difference. Nice but very linear, might be good to layer with something tart and green or dark and earthy for contrast. Al-Rehabs are always fun and intriguing to play with!

I have the oil roll on and to me, this smells so much like Prescriptives Calyx. I wore that to my prom in the late 90's and everytime I apply this oil, it smells exactly how I remember Calyx.

whilst Tommy Girl is a light fragrance, this is a more heavy version of it. But only slightly. The sillage is still only moderate. It's a nice clean fragrance that smells like beauty salons.

Green note but not lemongrass, mostly aquatic. A generic clean type scent.

This smells like pure clinical strength deodorant on my skin. In the tube I get the gorgeous fresh spicy and bright citrus notes that are promised, but as soon as I apply it, all of that goes poof and it just smells like deodorant. Plus I applied this at 2 PM and by 4 PM it was completely gone! I expected an oil to be longer lasting but I was extremely disappointed in this in several ways.

This came in the mail today. I really wanted to like Luzane, based on the reviews and the notes. So far, I have purchased eight different Al-Rehab oils, which all have been pleasant - some even beautiful. I suppose when you travel a road long enough, there's sure to be a bump... My first reaction was almost instant nausea, and I thought "laundry detergent". It smelled very cheap. I understand what the creators were trying to aim for, but they missed. It seems like whenever my nose dislikes a scent, the scent is always powerful, headache-inducing, and nauseating. This is sadly true of Luzane. As time went on, I put up with the urge to vomit and the headache because I thought the top notes would mellow, but they did not. In fact, they seemed to get stronger as they warmed with my skin. Luzane began to remind me more of a household cleaner than laundry detergent. There is a very chemical feel to Luzane, something not quite medicinal, but... household cleaner. I have smelled this smell before, and it was not in a perfume. Mind you, I am familiar with the application of these potent oils, so I did not overapply. I am not one to throw away a fragrance. My budget is very tight. I am resourceful enough to find a use for perfumes that have been given as gifts that don't quite suit me, and even 99 percent of my blind buys aren't this bad. This is the first time in a long time that I have considered immediately tossing a fragrance in the garbage. I wanted to let Luzane sit on my skin and possibly unfold into something tolerable, but I couldn't take it. This usually never happens to me. But I had to scrub it off. I was going to hurl, seriously. I think there still may be hope for Luzane, but in VERY VERY VERY small amounts, perhaps layered with something woody that neutralizes whatever foulness that just wreaked havoc on my olfactory gland. Maybe chemistry is just that different? I mean, it obviously is, because I gambled on it due to other's good experiences with this fragrance. I did read one review like mine, and a few others that were "meh", but I dismissed them. It's just hard for me to understand how something so tormenting to my nose could work so well for other people. I'm going to give Luzane a few more shots, but I don't think I will ever "grow to love her". :) If something magical happens, I will update. Try this one before you buy, if you can. Four dollars is not much to gamble on, but it's still four dollars... and trust me, you are gambling with Luzane.

For me it opens up as a sharp, papery floral, with a slightly bitter green. I don't get the aquatic notes. It reminds me of the inside of Office Max, a little bit. Paper and ink. I can see the resemblance to Happy, which is also sharp and high. It also really resembles Ralph Lauren Romance to my nose. I don't like either of them, so there must be some shared quality in all these but just doesn't work for me. I wish I could smell some rose, but I don't at all. After two hours it gets a bit of mustiness but stays sharp and strong. It isn't horrible, but I don't really like it. It is actually a bit masculine on my skin, and artificial smelling. It sounded so promising, so I'm disappointed. i wanted to experience what Silly Sue did. Her description is exactly what I want in a scent. Unfortunately, Luzane is a miss for me. Still working my way through al-Rehab trying to find a hit!

I have just bought it and I am already in love beautiful aquatic rosy scent , which is neither screechy , nor heavy in flowers, so balanced . Funny enough I am an Arab who lives in the Middle East and have just discovered El-Rehab because of Fragrantica :D I am not into heavy orientals and Oud though I am Oriental.The glass is like other El-Rehab frgrances in the bottle spray form , but the glass is clear which I prefer to the cloudy ones like in Randa & Nebras . 50 ml of fine very long lasting scent for what equals 2 US $ !! what a great price :) Update : I tried it today and wasn't satisfied at all ..Maybe because I found out it had the name of someone 's mother that wasn't good to me , I felt it is rather " stale " than fresh ..Emotions aside , I decided to put a layer of Oriflame 's Air on it and it turned out BEAUTIFUL almost like Cool Water from Davidoff

Luzane is a fresh, clean floral with citrus notes. Inoffensive, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing impressive. Could be good for office environments on its own, and also for layering with other fragrances. So far I like it layered with XOXO Kundalini, Al Rehab White Horse, and Tory Burch Bel Azur. It's simple enough that it can add a fresh floral note or some extra staying power to a lot of different warm weather perfumes. It's a nice multi-purpose scent, especially at the price.

Fresh, Clean, Soapy, and slightly sweet. This is definitely one of those non-offensive clean scents for everyday use. Nothing spectacular, but not too boring either. I will definitely be using this during the warmer months. Sofia, which is a newer one by AL Rehab, is also fresh and fruity, but with an amber base.

Somewhere between J'adore and Tommy Girl on me. I'm not getting much, if any, rose, but I am getting a near-overdose of abstract white florals and pear. It's also fairly sweet. It's not really my thing, but it probably would be a good, inoffensive work scent.

Just purchased with yesterday and i can confirm this really reminds me of a cross between tommy girl and happy! Also similar to Lancome Oui. Except this oil lasts longer! Also it goes with my skin chemistry! Strongly recommended.

I have the oil concentrated perfume version. I get some saltiness mixed with citruses and some nuts (maybe nutmeg?). It's soft and powdery but I don't get the CD J'adore comparison. It's good for layering with some woody scents.

It reminds me a lot of Escada Especially! Which I love, I'm so glad I got it, actually, I regret not getting two!

Luzane in oil form reminds me of Tommy Girl and Clinique Happy type scents. Fresh and long lasting.
