Sultan Al Oud

For once I am not disappointed with a blind buy. I have quickly fallen in love with Sultan al Oud, it's easily one of the best from the brand. Delicious leathery wood notes, lit incense smoke, warm peppery spice, subtle amber, and a wonderful cozy musk in the base. Even though this oil has the fake oud base that smells like paving tar, it's somehow smooth and not overly phenolic. There is just enough vanilla to soften the edges without smelling distinctly sweet. Not quite an "old book" smell, but the cedar and vanilla come together in a way that gives me that feeling. It's earthy, leathery, powdery, and smoky as well. It feels very cozy. Normally I don't think synthetic agarwood blends do the real substance much justice, but Sultan Al Oud is probably the closest you can come. It's a thoroughly clever and somewhat realistic agarwood reconstruction using cheap naturals and synthetics, an undervalued and wonderful treasure. I was puzzled by other people's comparisons, but I developed partial anosmia to Oud Wood at record speed. Just like the other Tom Ford fragrances, it has always registered as a modulated, synthetic scent. I much prefer Sultan Al Oud, it smells somewhat natural and hits high above the modest price point. Fantastic value, I highly recommend it. EDIT: The people calling this oud "barnyard", dirty, animalic etc. are completely off. This is a demure, refined interpretation of oud. The oud of Sultans.

This is a unique warm spicy, musky agarwood (Oud) fragrance from my conclusion it is fairly gourmand without any prominent sweet accords. It resembles a woody, masculine translation of Cinnabon’s cinnamon roll spice mix and I’m NOT JOKING! The [?] icons below are because those are the floral notes I pick up from the scent but do not know definitely if they are in the mixture. Moreover, the suspected iris lends in spicy, earthy powdery accords while heliotrope further smoothes out Oud with the vanilla. Secondly, heliotrope adds a sweet, powdery floral aspect providing an almond-like aroma therefore directing the fragrance more into the gourmand realm. Thirdly, ylang-ylang blends in like richly ripe fruits which I believe is providing this characteristic of a “spiced dessert good” into the scent. Sultan Al Oud has potential to be layered with other fragrances is great in the fall, winter and early spring also has enduring longevity and good sillage. Rating: 8.8/10, just wish this had some more projection then the score would have been closer to 10. :) Perfume notes composition: Top; Woody Notes (Cedarwood, Sandalwood) and Agarwood (Oud). Middle; Spicy Notes (Cloves, Cinnamon & Cardamom) and Vanilla. Base; Floral Notes (ylang-ylang[?]. heliotrope[?], iris[?]), Amber & Musk.

I've never smelled Black Afaghano or owned an oud scent before. But, I have been around lots of artists in my life and this smells just like freshly cut (or sanded) rosewood to me. This has just a hint of sandalwood and cinnamon at the start and then settles to something a bit more creamy. This is perfectly unisex and is "sweet" in the way a handmade natural broom is sweet or a freshly woven dried grass or sisal basket is sweet. I didn't know what to expect when I blind bought this, but I couldn't be happier with the juice. Sillage and longevity are medium, which is pretty great for less than $10. My only quibble is that I don't like the cap for the 35ml spray bottle. You can't win 'em all. I can see mixing this with White Musk, or British Rose, or with straight sandalwood for a deeper experience. I expect this will be very versatile, though I have enjoyed wearing it alone so far. I could see this for any season, any gender identity, and any time of day. It really is that good.

Fragrance -Sultan Al Oud Al-Rehab Bottle from - 2016 Sultan Al Oud reminds me a little bit of a ancient trees in the amazon rainforest.It has some similarities to Black Afgano by Nasomatto and Oud Alshain by Tiziana Terenzi. It's a beautiful,woody,spicy,musky and oriental scent. Vanilla tones down harsh oudy notes makes Sultan Al Oud look like more appealing,more refined and more mass pleasing fragrance."Quality/Cost Ratio"is extremely high. Longevity - 10/10(10+hours) Silage/Projection - 8/10(nice projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours) Weather - best in autumn and winter Age - 30+ Compliments - 7/10 Scent - 8/10 Main notes according to me - oud,spices,vanilla,musk,flowers. The drydown is nice and i get some woodiness,vanilla and musk. Emotions - dark forest,mysterious,dangerous,enigmatic,mystical,dark vibe elegance. Occasion -perfect for special occasions and formal events.

For reference, I tried the roll-on oil version of this fragrance. It's fairly aggressive and oudy at the beginning - not animalic, just sharp and darkly woody. It has lowish projection, but is somewhat stronger early on. As it evolves, I can smell cinnamon and semisweet vanilla. It's a beautiful fragrance. After an hour, the projection is still low without being a skin scent - pretty reasonable performance on me. It lasts a while, but never with much projection or sillage to speak of. While you could certainly layer this with other scents, it's also interesting enough to wear on its own. As an oud fragrance, it's very approachable and would be a good a starting point for someone not at all acquainted with that note. Absolutely worth the (extremely low) price; if you don't like it, it might still be educational, but it's more likely that you will enjoy it.

I find this to be an excellent oud fragrance, very long lasting. The woody sharpness is softened just slightly with the addition of vanilla, great for times when you want a lighter scent. It's good on it's own, and also lends itself well to layering with a variety of other perfumes and oils. I totally agree with the many reviewers who say that the quality of this is FAR higher than the price. I've been trying to convince people for years that expensive does not necessarily equal quality, mostly to no avail - but I have personally tried samples of quite a few high priced oud fragrances, and find Sultan Al Oud to be as good as any of them, (better in some cases)!

All I can say is Wow! I've never smelled Tom Ford Tobacco Oud, but if it smells this good imma have to seek it out. The scent profile is wonderful, just the right amount of sweetness to offset the ouds skankiness. It smells like a 250 dollar fragrance for only 6 dollars. If it just projected a lil better it'd be in my top 5 all time fragrances. Overall this is 10/10 I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a nice smooth easy to wear oud that also works wonderfully as a base for layering. Lately I ve been layering it with Guerlain Santal Royal and the combo is divine..it adds just enough sweetness to the Santal Royal to make it more mass appealing.

This is my Fave Al-Rehab scent.I currently have over 20 Scents from Al-rehab including Soft,Choco musk,Lovely, Silver,Musk Al sabaya,Dalal to name just a few and this is the one that I reach for the most and it lasts long. The room spray is equally amazing, it will have your space smelling like an Arabian Palace and it seems to last longer than the perfume itself 🙄 It's a combination of woody notes,oud and vanilla that is so beautifully blended,the only issue here is it fades off within an hour but for the price,I'll gladly re-apply. I do get the Oud Wood correlation but I don't see any similarity Btw the two.

I had to review this..most of al rehab on me does not work . But i respect what they do very much. But this oil to me should not be ignored , it is very. Very good..not like dehn al oud which is hospital detergent...this one sultan al oud is in a much higher league its not complecated it dosnt need to be.. its just very very good oud scent with a soft vanilla but the oud scent is just so good perfum quality and perfurmance is just butifull. I need to get the 6 pack . Thank you ..marko. Update:after two weeks with this ...it became my new signature scent its a very very good perfume.

Ooh,this one is really really yummy! I bought it blind, but the Al Rehab's are so reasonable, that I think they are worth trying. I liked it instantly, and can't stop smelling my arm when wearing it! It is warm, creamy, sweet and exotic. The main notes for me are a really comforting woody mix of oud and sandalwood. It reminds me of a Hari Krishna temple I used to go to as a teenager, so a strong, very pleasant, woody incense vibe. I can't detect anything unpleasant or animalic at all. It lasts well too, and at the crazy low price of just over £2, a definite keeper! :)

This is as simple and appealing as a sunrise. There's not a lot of notes, largely cedar, everlasting daisies/wattle and some musk at the back but it so gentle and calming. It is also not particularly strong but extremely persistently with not much change in volume. I would declare this work safe. This stays very close to you and it's not the kind d of scent that would annoy people. My feeling is that if you managed to offend someone with this, that individual would be invading your personal space to a ridiculous degree and being very picky in their creepiness.

Takes me on a journey into the forest.It has just rained. Somewhere in the distance there is a campfire. Lovely and gentle. Skin scent that stays close to the body. I love the little bottles that fit nicely in a purse. The great price means that you don't have to break the bank in order to try it and can give yourself a little treat often. I just bought 6 and am looking forward to trying them all. I am now searching this line for a more intense oud with big projection. Any suggestions? Also wanting a jasmine and amber. I am a huge fan of Muglers Alien.

Smoky, spicy, yet surprisingly smooth thanks to the oud and vanilla. I've tried about a dozen oils from this house and this is by far my favorite (2nd is Choco Musk). Hidden gem. Very easy to wear, even in warmer weather since you can tell that there's a bit of cedar in here to give it a bit of freshness. This is easily one of the best layering scents ever, especially if you want to bump up the masculinity of another fragrance a notch.

Oud, woods and musk are the dominant notes. Musk I struggle with as it is too close to animal sexual glands for my taste. Oud too is an acquired taste, coming from rotten wood. That said, I love the dry wood smell, which reminds me of explorations I did of the uninhabited outbuildings and attics of the home I grew up in. Dusty, internal wooden frames of buildings from another century; haunted, dark and pungent.

I can smell prominent Virginia cedarwood oil and oud. The oud is the young, un-aged variety - typical of Al-Rehab ouds and having an oily, buttery and almost nutty quality. Overall, this is an absolutely wonderful fragrance. Very soft, slightly spicy, a hint of sweetness, but not too much. There are other notes in here, but they have been added simply to enhance the woods. I find this very manly and royal.

I'm smelling this for the first time. Really really nice -- same as electricmind, I immediately thought of Black Afgano too. It started off pretty loudly but 30 minutes later it has settled into a lovely, soft vanilla-oud smell - I'm really liking this so far! /EDIT - this is one of my favourite Al-Rehab oils for sure. The spray is great too but I've never actually worn it - only used as a room spray

This is a sweet soft version of Black Afgano. Light and fluffy... Not the dark smokey beast you get from the Nasomatto Rock Star. I think this is a great beginning point for oud! I got the roll-on and LOVE IT! An other scent that is a very close dupe of Black Afgano I got for Christmas, was Hates Elixer from DUA... Not listed yet on Fragrantica... Now this is crazy strong and dense.

This one is loaded with oud and mildly spiced with faint floral accord .The oud is joined by oriental incense throughout the entire trip .And vanilla kept oud in check, as I'm pretty newer to oud this was much easygoing than other hardcore ouds eg. Dehn-al-Oud, Oud Abiyad etc. The design/printing on box is superbly designed!

Of all the Al Rehab oils I've tried, this is one of my favorites! It reminds me of a cozy library full of wooden shelves and a fireplace. Very comforting cool weather friendly scent. Another great one is their Oud Musk for a nice, simple, true to center musk (especially for those who are somewhat anosmic to musks).

I love this scent, I find it deep and comforting. Am not great at picking out the individual notes, but love the wood in this. It also reminds me of Hajar al Aswad, Surrati, which I love, too. I am glad I discovered these oils as I am pretty sure I will not waste tons of money on overpriced EDPs anymore.

i love it, it's just so good. opening is bit harsh, but after 20 minutes it becomes very good oudy and woody scent with spices. like a prince of arabia or persia. for the price it's a must have. longetivity is moderate and the projectios is soft for me. i think it's more suitable for men, than a women.

I really like this one but I wanted to add a little more to it so I have layered it with Al Sharqia, also from Al Rehab. WOW! It’s taken some of the edges off Al Sharqia and made Sultan Al Oud more complex. It might not be for everyone but if you already have both, give them a try together!

I got this on eBay for £2 and it's a beautiful, sweet, oud with a hint of sharpness that lasts all day. The sharpness is lovely, it doesn't lean sour. Cannot be faulted on value for money! I wear it a lot, and also use for layering. I will continue to reach for it through autumn and winter.

So Musky ! One of the best animal/skin musk perfumes. Didn't expect this wonder. Nice projection and sillage. Lasts 3-5 hours. May irritate nose and throat if one is sensitive, in the initial 15-30 minutes. Very synthetic and chemical infused oil, nonetheless the fragrance is really good.

Its all about OUD.. LOUD OUD... soften by musky and powdery feels.. I try the spray 35ml bottle. Love to spray it on my pashmina or praying cloak. Very Arabic.. addition: It's not something I would like to smell all day, but its something I want to sniff it again and again.

Near barnyard oud with musk and deep, smokey, resinous, dark wood. Some sandalwood incense too. This is very different and somewhat mysterious to the western palate. I love this as a guy as it works well with my skin chemistry. On a woman it would be alluring and seductive.

Recently bought a decant of Tom Ford Oud Wood. The resemblence is uncanny. If you like TF OW but don't want to spend the money purchased the 6ml roll on oil. Let it sit in a dark cupboard for 5-6 weeks and swipe away. Best perfume you'll ever own. Great job al rehab

this is identical to ameer al oud by lattafa , only less harsh at the first spray and goes to the drydown faster .. amazing sillage and longevity but not as beastly as ameer al oud , and for ... 2$ .. amazing this reviews is on the spray 35 ml. bottle.

No digo que sea igual, pero se parece un montón a Nasomatto Pardon, incluso yo diría que es más fuerte, dura mucho más y proyecta y deja estela por todo lado, es mucho más oscuro el aroma, pesado, con un ligero rose de aceite creo que es suficiente

Creo que asimilarlo con Black Alfago es un error, no se parece, es a la nasomatto pardon a la que se asimila un montón, tengo ambas de nasomatto. Y como dije incluso es mas fuerte sultan al oud

Very very similar to Ameer Al Oud, a little less sweet & more woody than Lattafa's offering but other than that its pretty close, for the price these sell for its a bargain & a easy blind buy!

I love this one. its very spicy and warm but unfortunately dosent last very long on me. however when I do wear it I use the spray and oil together because I love it so much

Perfectly oud. It opens strong and sweet and earthy, then mellows to a creamy golden amber. It smells like an Indian imports emporium full of dark wood and golden objects.

Rich, smokey, woody and not a sweet, powdery floral in sight. Heaven. I love it. Unfortunately, none of the Al Rehab attars I have last more than an hour. Disappointing.

I don't so much get oud as .. ?sandalwood. This drys down to something that reminds me of Guerlain's Samsara. Hmm, not unpleasant but not quite 'me'.

Chocolatey and syrupy nature. It's very rich, and my favourite of all my Al-Rehabs.

Oud my heavens! This is my first oud fragrance, so I'm not sure what to compare it to (in terms of quality), but so far I LOVE this smell. Woody and a little strong to start, but within a few minutes it warms into this sweet and vanillic, ambery, soft spicy woody wonder that reminds me of the bodega-style middle eastern markets i'd go to when i lived on the coast. Oud is a masculine note to me, but here it's blended for a soft, comforting effect that I find very soothing and almost feminine. No surprise that it's unisex though, as this juice would smell awesome on a man. (Speaking of which, this also reminds me of my first true love, and the smell I remember from his parents' house. They were first generation refugees from Iran, and their house always smelled like this incense-y soft spicy woody note that I never thought I'd find wearable, but here I am, sniffing my wrist for the single spritz I applied, and smiling.) Sillage is strong enough for others a few feet away to notice when the breeze blows, but it's not overpowering. So far, I've only gotten compliments, but I would still recommend using conservatively, because it does project. This is also my first scent from Al-Rehab, which I thought would be a good bet for a blind buy because of their really cheap prices. And I was right - great deal for a blind buy, and for an introduction to oud. And to me, the overall quality is impressive, and the character of this fragrance and its notes are very unique, different from anything else available here. I swear I'm not done with this house by a long shot. I'll be ordering other scents like this one, I'm sure!

Feelin' like a criminal right now, because this stuff is a steal! This review is for the roll-on attar version of this gem. For me, this is first and foremost an earthy cedar affair -- slightly dirty in a cedar mulch kind of way, like a dialed down version of Tiziana Terenzi's Ursa, but with just a touch of sweet and some other things going on. The oud seems to me of a nutty, almost smoky variety -- which reminds me a bit of By Kilian's Incense Oud. All of this is rounded out with a very warm and subtle layer of spice -- not quite cinnamon to my nose, but perhaps a blend including it. On the whole, this attar really brings together many of my favorite accords into one absolutely delightful fragrance, scent-wise. So far, I'm not getting much in the way of projection, which is to be expected in an oil. Longevity seems about average, so neither good nor bad in that regard. In terms of scent, this one's an instant and unequivocal "love" for me. There is literally nothing about it that I don't like. Looking forward to trying the spray version of this one. EDIT: Got the spray version as well. Have to say, even though they are very similar, I think I like the roll-on version a bit better. There is a kind of slight dirtiness to the attar that's replaced by something just slightly chemical in the spray (just in the opening). After several minutes, they do come together, though -- so it must be something about the alcohol carrier in the spray.

I have worn this a couple times before, and it certainly isn't one of Al Rehab's stronger ones―for a powerhouse, try the beautiful vintage-y Saat Safa. It is not sweet, but based on another member's review, I purchased this one, and not Oudy. That user said something about Sultan al Oud being sweeter than Oudy, and since I'm very much an oud novice, I appreciated this oil's higher marks on the user-friendly category. The other times I've worn this, I got bored waiting for it to develop and soon layered it with the intense and skanky Dehn al Oud. But tonight when applying this, it seemed stronger than before, and I instantly noticed an intense cedar oil note, very pleasant. I get a hint of oud, and maybe a suggestion of "spices." I do detect musk, which is not my favorite, and which may be why other reviewers can't smell this oil, as many people are anosmic to certain musks. I recommend this oil to anyone who likes woody perfumes, or who is interested in dipping their toe (or wrist!) into the waters of oud fragrances, especially since it is so inexpensive.

This opens with cinnamon, and an incense halfway between Nag Champa and Bakhour, but mildly presented. Then comes a hint of nagarmotha, patchouli, and amber. Because it is oil based, it starts low and builds gradually, adding warm musk, cedar, playdoh and oud. The oud accord is medicinal, sort of like your doctor's office. I can't abide strongly barnyard oud accords, but they can't be found in this one. Not getting Black Afghano or Oud Wood AT ALL. This is its own thing, quite unique. It isn't a masterpiece, it isn't "niche quality", but it is interesting, satisfying and easily worth its price. One word of advice: If you think the oud is overpowering in this one, you should avoid anything else that says oud, because this is little league oud - just the way I like it!

Received today and tested a little. Super strong with oud, sandalwood and vanilla being most prominent to my nose. I get a similar vibe as from Scentstory Gold 24, i.e. sweet woody oud fragrance. I will update this later... So, here we go: applied very liberally and rubbed all over. Now I am getting a very different impression than the one I got from putting a little on my wrist! This is quite a smoky Al Rehab with lots of wood and oud. I was also a little reminded of Al Rehab Dehn al Oud. All in all a very good composition, try if you like spicy woody oud scents - this is really unisex although may appeal more to men.

I fell in love with the intoxicating smell of the roll-on so I thought i would purchase the spray to compare. The spray is just as intoxicating with what I feel is a stronger projection. There was however an odd almost synthetic vibe that made me feel nauseous that which wasn't present in the roll-on. I'm pretty sure this an isolated incident because no one else has mentioned it but I thought I'd still let it be known. I'll be keeping the roll-on though because it is still some seriously good stuff and completely worth the low price.

A bit heavy oudy woody spicy scent primarily for winter nights. When I rub my nose across my wrist it slightly smells like the fresh milky corn cob which is roasted directly in fire and that burnt kernel's smell. I like it and scent quality is pretty good have the 6ml roll on. Great value for scent and quality, if you like heavy scents for winters this one is a must have. Scent 7/10 Sillage 7/10 projects at arm's length for 3 hrs. Longevity 8/10 6+ hrs Value 10/10 $ 1.80 for a really good scent, no brainer.

I really like this fragrance, very sweet and woody - oud not 'in your face'. I wore it all morning today, after which it faded considerably. I have decided that it's too masculine for me, unless layered with something floral, to give it a higher note. Husband's collection has now swelled 50% - I gave him the Silver 2 weeks ago. The Silver layered over the Sultan al Oud is fabulous for men. I shall be borrowing it occasionally to add a good base note to 'shouty' florals, to calm them down a bit.
