Susan

This a seriously strong perfume. I've had it for over a week now, but after trying it a few times without being blown off my feet and disliking it intensely, I've put some on layered over Lattafa's Raghba Classic, just to 'ground' it a bit. It's been on 30 minutes now, and it's not wall-to-wall flowers , just gently floral, and I can smell the Raghba coming through, sweet and heavy. It's now 40 minutes after putting it on, and it just 'amped up' (I've only got the two layered on the back of my hand), and it sent wafts of a beautiful, soft flowery-something, not quite rose, could be gardenia? Not sure of notes, but it smells lovely, and still quite strong but because it's got the Raghba underneath, it's sort of mellowed it out. So, if this is how I have to wear it, I really won't mind at all. I hate giving up on any perfume, and like experimenting with layering, and I've managed to salvage a few this way, that didn't agree with my chemistry on their own. I've never smelled Amirage so I cannot compare the two, but my new 'niche' perfume (Amirage Classic, anyone?) is absolutely fab. Just off to apply to other parts!! NB. I have re-applied this on it's own this afternoon, and I now know what it's about. I still get blown away by the opening, but after 10 minutes I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! (Sorry for the shout). Husband says I smell 'like a lady'!

I used to have Amarige when very young. I remember loving it very much. Lately I haven't even wanted to try it since the fume that I smell from the cap makes me recoil. I also need to add I am not a huge fan of most florals as they fall flat and smell like a vase of wilted flowers with some mold thrown in on me. This is different, it might be due to the carrier being oil and not alcohol but this is one rare floral that I truly like. It's full and rounded and non-cloying and even though I can smell it hovering over the precipice of that dusty moldy soil that I get from almost all the others on the market, it doesn't fall into it. I'm very glad for this! This to me smells very classy and will be nicely paired with an elegant dress, dinner and well behaved conversation and my hair in a strict chignon! Sillage and projection: 5/5 Warning: this, along with the rest of the Al- Rehab oils is very strong smelling. Apply in the tiniest dabs to test your tolerance. Longevity: 3/5, even though they smell strong I find they don't last past the 4-5 hour mark. No problem, keep the tiny roll-on in your purse for a quick and discreet application if needed! Fragrance: 3/5 I would highly recommend this but since I'm not a floral girl I know that I will only sporadically wear it. I'd say it will be amazing for a floral lover and a cheap blind buy.

Susan, my dear, you are a beautiful lady with an intoxicating personality. The notes mentioned is very general and not very specific. But to me Susan smells like a very creamy and vanillic blend of tuberose and gardenia, with an ambery and slightly spicy drydown. The last whiff of Susan reminds me of an old alley in an arab city, close to a herb and spice market. The drydown is such a surprise, because it is very different from the opening and the heart of the scent. It's like smelling two very different scents. From creamy, heady floral to dry, shadowy cobblestone and wicker baskets filled with strange herbs and spices. Susan, you are extremely intriguing! The sillage is phenomenal, don't put on too much of the stuff. And the longevity is amazing. I can smell Susan on my skin, faintly, after 24 hours. Susan is becoming one of my favourite scents actually. And I can't believe that such a gorgeous fragrance costs so little. Such a bliss to have discovered this perfume oil! <3

When I first got this, I got lots of florals and some musk with little fruit. Now I get a distinct white floral of Jasmine and tuberose, but initially, there is a bright citrus note cutting through. It's not overpowering at all. Just a nice break from the typical floral bomb. Upon further sniffing, apricot appears for a moment. But it's rather brief. What this scent settles into is a gorgeous and sophisticated white floral and musk. I've only tested Amarige once, and don't much remember specifics. But this might be close. I sniffed a few tuberose scents today, and this might be my favorite. I'd like to experiment with layering this under Kim Kardashian Kim Kardashian, one of the Michael Kors Michael Kors fragrances, or even with a leather like Gres Cabochard or Pierre Balmain Jolie Madame. It dries down to a gorgeous scent that I could wear all day any day... And I'm not so partial to florals. This is a love for me.

Love love love. Beautiful dry down. Definitely like Amarige but less sharp. very nice. Update: last night after my bath, I put on a few swipes of this and then put Everyman Lotion, Cedar and Citrus on with it. When I woke up this morning, it still smelled so good. This is quite a bit less expensive and still very strong and very nice. If you like Amarige, you will like this. No doubt. I think the best value would be to buy the 6 pack if you can. I did just order some online and the roller ball is not working well, so I poured it all out in a spray bottle and added some perfumer's alcohol, so now it is a spray. And if you have Amarige, maybe this would extend the life of the original. Update: I'm obsessed with NR Amber Musc, but I wear the dupe oil from either Arabian Perfume Oils (APO) or Universal and I wear my amber oil with Susan. I like it better that way.

(This review is about the Roll-on oil) What a great hidden gem! The original Amarige seems to lean a bit more floral whereas Susan turns a bit sweeter as time passes by, and therefore i like it better!! Susan starts off as a loud powerhouse vintage cacophony of "stemmy" green-yellow-white florals, however that quickly goes away to reveal the elegant tuberose and jasmine mix typical of Givenchy's Amarige. 2 Hours after application is when the real magic happens, the scent turns into a somewhat fruity, ambery and floral vanillary scent that lasts throughout the day, making it 1 of the best Al-Rehabs i have tried. Can only highly recommend the oil version.

Oh, this is so nice! I used to wear Amarige years ago, but haven't in quite some time. This is pretty much identical to Amarige. I just received a bottle off of Amazon for a little over $9 and I couldn't be happier. I don't know how the oil is, but I can tell you this, the spray is very strong and long-lasting, just how I remember Amarige being. It's sweet with an abundance of beautiful white flowers and just a bit of fruitiness. This is not a perfume you are going to want to overspray on yourself. It radiates outward quite a bit, but if sprayed carefully, it's quite enjoyable. This really is a beautiful scent and very affordable!

My mum wore amarige when I was a teenager and I loved and coveted her bottle, but it felt too grown up for me. Fast forward 15 years. I wanted to try amarige again but I didn't want to commit to yet another space-hungry bottle so I bought Susan instead. And yes Susan smells the way I remember amarige, and Susan lasts and projects for much longer. For anyone not familiar with the smell of Ms Susan Amarige: she smells like happiness and sunshine, clean bright tuberose, floral nectar sweetness, a beautiful woman walking through the crowded city in a bright yellow floor length voluminous flowing gown.

So delighted I saw this online I immediately purchased it. I read somewhere that this is an exact dup of Givenchy Amarige, one of my beloved perfumes of my youth. So I had to try it out for myself, right? And after spraying it on my wrist and taking a whiff of it, I can say it truly is! And I got it at a fraction of the price of even a small bottle of Amarige. Susan is now my favorite scent cheapie, taking the place of Soft. One has to be gentle with the sprays, though. Just the right amount will make one smell so heavenly, but too much would be ghastly.

I have received to day a small bottle of 6 ml of perfumed oil Susan and I could applied it on the left hand and a sample of Amarige on the right hand. At first : it was a smile : the head note is here ! After 8 hours, the scent on the right side is very light : and my husband find it "dry" On the left hand, Susan has been here for four hours, and is still on my skin, deep, faithfull, and my husband find it soft, flowered, nice. OK I Thank you friends of Fragrantica ! I shall ordered the edp 30 ml bottle when I will find it awailable.

A cute and fruity Amarige dupe that outperforms many 'fumes thrice as costly. What's not to love? I also love that her name is Susan. I have a friend with that name who is also lovely, and it makes me think of her. I'm not sure I would be able to tell it from Jamila by Swiss Arabian in a blind smell test, but I have Susan as a spray, so even if the differences between the two are minute, I'll enjoy having this in two different forms. I could even imagine wearing them together, since they have so many (all?) of the same notes.

BIG GARDENIA, no seriously, BIIIIIIIG gardenia. Like attack of the 50 foot gardenia, with some peach and tuberose and other stuff in the background. Honestly? I love it. I love this incredible gardenia monster stomping in, kicking a** and taking names. This gardenia doesn't eff around, it comes in, smashes up the joint and continues on its gardenia-monster-y way. Yeah there's peach and sandalwood and mimosa, but they're like the non-Beyonce members of Destiny's Child, nice to have around, but not the main attraction.

This is my 1st Al-Rehab fragrance purchase and there's not much that I can say about this that hasn't already been said. It's soft and commanding at the same time. It makes me feel beautiful and confident. The smell is indescribable but it's such a pretty fragrance. The projection is great. I've loved Amarige since I was in Jr High so there's no wonder that I'm in love with this fragrance. And to round it out, the quality is pretty amazing for the price. I can see myself purchasing this over and over again.

Susan. A very strange name for this perfume, but I'll let it pass. On me, this has definite LouLou vibes. It doesn't smell exactly like LouLou, but it's got something in there that is very similar to LouLou. I compared this with my mum's bottle of vintage LouLou EDP from the 80s, and side by side, they're nowhere near identical. More like...cousins. It's absolutely gorgeous on me.

Oil roll-on version. I love this oil so much. The floral and musk mingling beautifully. I kept sniffing this. The floral... either jasmine, tuberose, or lily. Not really sure. I prefer to put this on my clothes instead on skin, the scent will stay longer this way. ----- The scents similar with cheap but not too long lasting scents, Puteri Body Splash White Lily.

It's Amarige...and it's amazing. Anyone who is 35 and older remembers this well and most of us who are Givenchy fans love it. I would wear this and unabashedly tell people I'm wearing Amarige...it's just that good. It's got that strong, oily base that Givenchy is known for so it's long lasting and sensual...pure woman in a bottle...delicious.

salty, watery white flowers! mostly Ylang and borderline-rotting, salty jasmine (in a good way somehow). somewhere in the middle it smells like rain. Maybe twenty minutes after applying it I can definitely sense some nineties in here but not as strong as in Nadine

This is identical to Forever Florals Hawaii Pikake. And i LOVE IT! I swoon over this it is GLORIOUS! Soft, sweet, softly spiced, warm smooth sweetness😍 its gorgeous spiced tuberose but the tuberose that is identical to indian jasmine a.k.a pikake jasmine.

Oil Version: Oh my god, this is so goregeous! And it is straight up Amarige for such a tiny price. This is nothing more than flowers than me. I smell Mimosa, gardenia, Ylang-Ylang, jasmine and carnation. If you like Amarige and florals, this is for you!

This smells exactly like Amarige but for a fraction of the price! To find a big 80's style floral, with 80's staying power and projection is the stuff that dreams are made of ❤ 6 bottles of this gem or 1 bottle of Amarige..hmmm...I'm going to stock up!

this is a beautiful 80s/90s style golden and honeyed amber fruity floral. i finally tried amarige recently, and this does remind me of it, as well as other vintage perfumes i've tried. really lovely, glad i tried this one.

I agree it smells exactly like Amarige, so if you want to sniff that to make sure you like Amarige, you'll know what you are getting when you order Susan. LOVE IT!

It's a Friday evening in 1993 and I'm in the toilets at work - a little second hand clothes store in Notting Hill - getting ready to head out into the night. I'm wearing MAC Spice lipliner topped with lashings of Carmex lipbalm from the imported beauty shop on Portobello Road and a pair of platform embroidered suede sandals, which earlier in the day Vivienne Westwood complimented me on when she was in buying an 80s rara skirt. Before I leave to hop on a bus to the West End, I douse myself in a cloud of effervescent tuberose/bug killer/juicy fruits that is Amarige. When I come into work in the morning, the cloud will still be hanging in the air, as indelible as the hangover I'll bring with me. Susan is Friday nights in 1993 and is pure nostalgia in a tiny bottle. A powerhouse, but still, slightly gentler than its juggernaut of a sister; this won't harangue those Saturday morning hangovers when you're up for work at six even though you didn't get in til gone two. Something I definitely would have welcomed thirty (THIRTY?!?!) years ago. And cheaper than a single vodka and coke in Zone One at 1993 prices, to boot.

Susan - what a delight! Cheapie gem, this is. From what I remember, it definitely does smell just like Amarige - I haven't tried Amarige on my skin (because the screechiness put me off), but Susan just smells a little more tame to me. More soft, buttery, alluring. Could be because I have the perfume oil. Beautiful fruit and floral bouquet. Tuberose with no screech, just smooth with lots of tropical fruits. My husband likes this one, too - it's the only perfume oil he's ever liked because it doesn't smell like a typical attar. Lasts for absolute ages. This is one of the highlights from Al-Rehab, in my opinion. Check it out if Amarige has always been a little intimidating for you.

It smells nice, but only spray it a little because it is loooooud,. When over sprayed, this could easily smell like a grandma perfume. If I smelled this on someone, I would not think it was an Al Rehab. All the reviews below mine describe it perfectly! It is a creamy floral with a little musk and a slight tinge of sweetness. I would personally only wear this in the Autumn, Spring, and Winter, but I'm sure it could be worn in the summer too. There is no perfume I can think of that smells similar, but I saw someone mention Amarige, which I've never smelled. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves creamy florals.

The graphic-design similarities between this and Givenchy 'Amarige' are too strikingly-similar to dismiss... Isn't Fragrantica a remarkable thing- to have this database at our fingertips?! I've never smelt 'Amarige', but the notes on that page are far-more accurate for 'Susan' than the ones that appear here... Definitely a sweet, white-flower bomb over an oriental base with subtle fruity notes. I like it. I know that it probably lacks the complexity of 'Amarige', but the balancing is quite nicely-done!

Susan (attar) is a hard wear, if you are heavy handed. Although not listed this fragrance seems JASMINE forward. In moderation it can be quite beautiful. You will definitely stand out in a place where it seems every one is gourmand happy these days. This is great for cold weather and warm weather I'll wouldn't do Hot because it can become stuffy

Starts out smelling quite similar, but it then becomes much sweeter than Amarige. Its still nice to have, but certainly not a "replacement." It doesn't have the magical, beautiful nuaces that Amarige has. However,for the crazy low price, its nice to have and is generally very similar. Check out my review on YouTube, Fragrance Memoir 🫶

smell like jasmine in my nose. this is female fragrance. but i like it. but not my signature scent. i like more sabaya and rasha for my female signature scent. for unisex i like dalal, and soft for best, for males i like al fares,, blanc, champion black.

OMG...this perfume is just...floral...I can t feel any of the other notes just flowers.It is not bad,just a garden of flowers.Never smelled Amarige so I can t tell if it is simillar but I am sure Amarige belongs to Givenchy and not Lancome.

A big fruity floral in the vein of Amariage. Sillage is substancial and very feminine. A great alternative to the Givenchy classic or a fun birdwalk into the big fruity floral genre without breaking the bank.Bring it on vacation. Fun.

This is such a lovely everyday scent! It's definitely floral, but not overpowering. I get a hint of fruitiness and spice too, which makes it really interesting. Susan lasts for hours on my skin, which is a bonus!

I bought the perfume oil version and loved it. That lovely burst of citrus followed by sweetness, floral notes and musk. I loved mixing the oil with body lotion at night. BUT, the sweetness soon turned cloying as the weather got warmer and I think I would've been able to appreciate this little gourmand if it had some woody notes to balance it. It began to smell heavily floral-synthetic so I decluttered it.

This is beautiful. I never understood what people meant when they described florals as “creamy”. Well, here we are. Susan is a creamy floral, soft citrus and fruits peaking through, musk, and a little of vanilla, followed by the barest hint of amber in the dry down. Lasts all day, just stunning.

Yes, this *reminds* me of Amarige, but in my opinion, it doesn't *do* what Amarige does. Amarige (I have a vintage version from when the box still had the pattern all the way around the edges, but I don't know the actual age of my bottle) is complex, powerful, lofty, sweet and spicy, deep and bright, layered beautifully in a way this perfume oil isn't. But that is not why I don't enjoy the perfume oil. I realize no bargain perfume oil will compare to a good vintage perfume, but the reason I'm not a fan of this perfume oil is that the peach note specifically is flat and stale.

This used to be phenomenal and my favourite al rehab. However, I am really not sure if the batches now being sold on eBay uk is the problem but the oils I've purchased since mid 2016 have all smelt horrid and plasticky. No more Amarige or any beauty at all here. I bought a pack of six in mid 2016 which smelt terrible and then 3 more oils June 2017 just in case I'd bought a bad batch. Same horrid, plasticky unrecognisable smell. Sadly, I really think the word is now out on these oils and standards are now dropping big time or there are now fakes on eBay uk.

Very similar to Lancome Amarige yet doesn't contain that one putting off cat piss note that Amariage has. Today I bought 3 Al Rehab scents - Susan, Elena and Sandra, yet Susan is the only oil that I tried to wash off my arm.. Twice! Very strong synthetic smell. I really don't like it even though I hoped I would. From those 3 I'd say that the most beautiful is Sandra, Elena is quiet nice also, but Susan, well, lets just say - it's not for me. I am into Oriental Florals, but this one, on my skin, is a bunch of very strongly smelling synthetic flowers.

I bought this attar after some positive experiences with other Al Rehab scents, but this one just fell flat. It starts out with a strong, very synthetic smell-- very chemical, very fake floral, and that kind of drowned out any other scent that might have been lurking. The entire scent was gone within an hour. I hope I'm in the minority-- the notes listed for this one sound delightful, and I really wanted to like it :(

All I smell is pure ylang-ylang

Hate is a strong word but oh my God do I hate this. Granted I don’t even like florals but this one has an an overpowering Air freshener vibe to it. Very aggressive spicy floral, it was a blind buy for me and I heavily regret it. I mean it’s very cheap so my wallet is not bleeding or anything (thank god). Judging by the reviews yes it’s very accurate 80s floral spicy grossness. I don’t know what I was expecting but to me this smells like cheap floral air freshener or even a car freshener. There are some floral-based fragrances I enjoy although I’m not the biggest fan of florals but this one is a HARD NO.

Susan made me realize just how beautiful Amarige Givenchy really is. I was ridiculously excited for Susan to arrive in the post... looked forward to ripping open the package and proceeding to do a side by side wrist to wrist wiff test. Amarige is one of my favorite perfumes, and for a long while it was my signature. I wasnt so much hoping for an exact perfect replication, as much as I was curious to find the different nuances the two would have in contrast to each other. Actually, I was slightly hoping for an exact replica, I suppose. It certainly would have been a nice surprise. But no Susan is not a perfect replica. I cannot pin down the note... But I can tell you that Amarige unfolds, and just keeps unfolding, while Susan is linear. Susan begins almost exactly like Amarige... Big white floral opening... Very very close to Amarige.. and it just sort of... stays there. Amarige contains a wonderful soprano harmony... a higher note that just carries. Susan never goes up that high, and instead it drops into a sour wet hay thing, and not in a good way. The Sour-Hay thing is always there. Its discordant and slightly harsh. Its not going to be noticed by others in your vicinity, but whenever you get too close to your wrist you will smell that amarige-like big white floral opening and thenyou will be quickly dropped into that off-putting hay. So... I dont know if I will continue playing around with Susan. I may. My Amarige is getting really low and I am not in a position to buy more at the moment. We'll see. For now, allow me to describe my experience in this way: Amarige is like your first trip to Paris, including the exciting airplane ride, full of promise... its on to the eiffel tower, the Sacré-Cœur , the montmarte, the louvre, and then some fabulous cafe, then an incredible restaurant... Then meeting a really cute french guy.. on and on. Amarige is that magical month in Paris when you were 25. Susan is the airplane ride, but then you never get to leave Charles De Gaulle airport... youre stuck there... Maybe flirting with some guy from Slovenia who is also stuck there. but hey, at least youre in Paris.

This is not a review for Susan, but for another floral smell - alike from Al Rehab ~ Organdy! Yes, you guessed it. Organdy is a dupe of Organza, in the nicest possible way. They open very similarly and have the same pleasant vibe. But where Organza has a lot of high quality greens somewhere in the middle, Organdy stays linear throughout. Also lacking the vanillic and sandalwood base notes of Organza, Al Rehab's version is surprisingly fun. I enjoy spritzing with abandon, secure in the knowledge that I'm not spraying liquid gold but smell fabulous! I assume that Organdy has been discontinued, as limited availablity is an issue. It appears to only be available in the US through Al Rashad in an alcohol - free spray version. Like the one for Susan shown on this page! Larger than a roll on ~ the bottle is still small enough to tuck into a purse, and longevity isn't an issue when sprayed on fabric. To me, these little bottles are rather cute and definately nifty. ;) The nicest thing about many Arabian scents? Their layerability! Having the 'oud' note in common seems to help this considerably. Organdy is no exception. In place of the greens in Organza, this little darling contains oud! It's TRULY a middle eastern take on a classic. Best of all, I can layer it beautifully with my new favorite oud scent - Jovan Intense Oud - creating a rich and cheerful aroma. The combination is both lively and seductive. Recommended, if only for layering!

I recently purchased several Al Rehab oils. I have burned through 2 vintage bottles of Amarige EDT and I still have my pure parfum. WOW. The oil version of Susan is a twin of Amarige, except the tuberose in Susan is smoother, more satiny than the tuberose in Amarige. The tuberose in Amarige is almost fluorescent to my nose, quite high-pitched. I have always adored Amarige and I have to say, that I like Susan even more than the EDT (vintage). Susan has all the florals that Amarige does, but the edges are smoother if that makes any sense. Amarige also needs to tone down a bit for about 30 minutes before I really enjoy it. But Susan is good to go straight out of the bottle. Just know that Al Rehab oils LAST A LOOONG TIME! For extra kicks, I rub my palms with several swipes of the oil, and scrunch it into my hair. I just love this.

I love Susan, she is a beautiful and classy lady.I have the rollerball. I have owned Amarige in the past, and I find Amarige, while fairly similar, more of a powerful, screechy old lady perfume (from what I recall) than this. Susan is a huge, blooming bouquet of jasmine, tuberose, honeysuckle, and lilies, in that order. It is a bit like Balkis also, but that is more lily-forward, and has something a bit sickly and 2 dimensional about it. Susan is very 3D. In a good way. A very well made and well rounded perfume. It projects very strongly from my skin initially, and can still be detected hours later. I have tried many Al Rehab perfumes, and I consider Susan a favourite.

This stuff is insane! It's a true dup of Amarige for sure! I got the oil and the spray. One drop, literally, of the oil provides enough for all day. It's crazy! The sprayer is a bit much. But, both the same scent. The first day it was intense overload and gave me a headache, (thankfully I was home) but now I understand that one or two drops is plenty! Trust me, this teeny weeny bottle of oil will last forever. And it was $8. If you think you have COVID and you're worried about losing your sense of smell -- just sniff this -- you'll know! Who needs an official test? LOL If you love Amarige, get this. Amazon - $8. Enjoy and stay well everyone.
