Jasmin XXX

One of the most beauitful jasmine's I've had the pleasure of trying. It is a modern take on the flower and being completely natural I am surprised how shining and bright the perfumer was capable of making this perfume. Not at all indolic, you won't be cringing away from this note that gets a bad rep of being antiquated. Jasmine XXX is the jasmine for 2022.

Jasmine dominant perfumes are typically pretty dense, but in this case a 'cool' fresh background really lifts it up. Very light-weighted scent with a touch of spice. Love it. Good for spring.

I want to love this so, so badly. It's unfair that I don't. The reasons why this scent excels are the same reasons it just can't crest that border from interest to adoration for me - and this is a problem with me, not the scent. A truly spectacular jasmine. One of the best jasmines I've ever smelled. A strict and alluring jasmine, a midnight chill jasmine, a pure organic chemical jasmine made supple by the woodiness. And the bergamot touch here is masterful, brings this pavement-concrete stone coldness to this fragrance - the backbone of Altra. Altra as a whole is so tough and cold without being masculine, it's my favorite part of the house, and XXX is a beautiful example of it. This is a wonderful scent. But it can't be mine. The citrus simply tramples the jasmine - which is such a shame, because it's also what makes the scent as a whole so special. Again, I want to love this, and it deserves to be loved, and I love all its components... but the bergamot simply dominates, the more time I spend with it. I'm still in search of a noble and cold jasmine, and this is the closest I've found, but it's just mixed too 1:1 with the bergamot. Half of it is a blunt bergamot, and half of it is spectacular jasmine, and I wanted more of what it's best at. I highly recommend this to jasmine lovers, but even if you are one, if you are also a citrus critic like me, this won't go the full mile.

Amazed this already had a review, it's only just come out! Plus I have just seen it on Ebay, if anyone fancies. This is a strange one, I've only tried it twice n it's behaved very differently. First time lovely jasmine, was that just the power of suggestion? This time it's soap, cardboard boxes n cleaning products, like Mrs Mopp's cupboard or a utility room. Evokes flowery pinnies n hair in curlers, like your 1960's cleaning lady. The jasmine does come back again later a bit, Mrs Mopp has a tea break :/
