Amberfig Eau de Parfum

Amberfig EDP is part of the Amberfig Les Parfums collection, which was conceived to celebrate the two years of the brand, launched in 2014. This collection brought three homonymous fragrances, but distinct in composition and in concentration (EDT, EDP and Extrait). Amberfig EDP has top notes of fig leaves, galbanum, peach and bergamot. In the body of the fragrance, notes of fig, coconut, Damask rose, iris and cocoa. The base has notes of amber, tonka beans and everlasting flowers. Amberfig EDP does not have the same fruity output as the EDT version. It is much more intense, licorous and pungent. While the cognac note in Amberfig EDT was unnoticeable to me, here it would fit nicely into the description, even though is not present. Amberfig EDP may even bother for being so strong. On my skin, the fragrance comes down to the notes of galbanum, bergamot, fig, coconut, cocoa and everlasting flowers, in that order. It opens bitter and slightly citrus, walks towards the juicy and soft fig, whose pulp has had its creamy content amplified by the coconut and then, gains the bitterness of the cocoa and the sweetness of the famous immortelle. Unfortunately, I did not notice the presence of the rose, which I would like to see more prominently. In my opinion, Amberfig EDP smells fruity, creamy and almost alcoholic. I can see the connection with the EDT version and the growth from one to the other, along with the percentage of diluted essential oils (16% according to the perfumer). My only concern is with the repeated use of the immortelle note, because as happens with tuberose and beeswax, this note ends up leaving the perfumes always very similar and less trained noses can confuse the fragrance of Iris d'Or with that of Amberfig EDP, at some point. And as one is not a flanker of the other, maybe a collector will not want to have both, at the same time, in his/her collection. That said, I think these two fragrances in the Les Parfums collection complement each other and I dare say that the EDT version should be worn by the wife, while the EDP by the husband, telling a story and sharing moments. Particularly, I still prefer the EDP version and I suggest using it with caution, as it is a very strong perfume.
