Ambre et Diamant Noir

This is a very beautiful scent, I see it is listed as unisex, and I am never one to say only one gender could wear, because we are all different, but to me this is definitely a feminine leaning scent. I am surprised to see no reviews until now. I have only sampled this on my arms, haven't given it a full test run, but I will share my initial impressions seeing as there are no reviews yet. This is a beautiful, airy, powdery, soft floral type of amber, think along the lines of Monegal Ambra di Luna, Molinard Ambre, Mona di Orio Ambre et al. This sits firmly in that line up, this is not one of your resinous, sweet heavy ambers like ambre 114, blue amber etc. On application this opens bright, airy, with some light slightly sweet powdery florals (iris, narcisse, soft ylang and a hint of orange blossom), a musky powdery quality, the slightly salted tang of ambregris and a sweetly animalic edge, although this never - for me at least - veers into dirty/skank territory. The sweetness of the castoreum makes the opening very reminiscent of Ambra di Luna, or the same kind of castoreum found in Alameda. The civet is not strong although it is present and adds depth. Soon oakmoss joins in, and a faintly woody note, along with the benzoin. As it progresses it becomes more powdery and the civet and oakmoss are slightly more detectable, though still safely in clean territory. Sillage seems to be pretty good, and longevity is reasonable, will add more on those points folloing full wears. It isn't the most original within its category but it is very well done, balanced, attractive, feminine yet light and playful, I really rather like it at this stage in my trials. I would say it is most similar to Ambra di Luna of the scents I listed, and this works out at much better value. It out-performs the much cheaper Molinard ambre by several hours and better projection. But if you own one of the others you probably don't need this. Worth checking out. UPDATE - longevity on this is actually really good, a single spray from the sample onto my wrist lasted a good 12 hours - I fell asleep at that point so it may have lasted longer! I can still smell it clearly on my jumper the following day and it even transferred a little back to my skin. This scent seems to have got under my skin, and really grew on me over the course of the test. I said before that it was not especially original, but although there are definite comparisons with other scents this is really very good in its own right. This had way better longevity than the Monegal and the Molinard, it had the animalic edge that MDO lacks, created a gentle sillage trail and lasted ages. It feels well composed, elegant and smooth. This is replacing the Monegal and the MDO from my wishlist - better price for more juice, IMO better scent and much better longevity. FB worthy.
