Ghaliyah Reflection

Ghaliyah Reflection is absolutely beautiful and didn't disappoint, you got hit with a heavy dose of delicious Oud in the opening, only a slight hint of barnyard in the first 10min but it's not fecal or offensive, carrying by the minty camphor that is very recognizable from most pure Oud attars, rest assure the minty camphor from this isn't forward or overpowering, it is there to remind you that the shizzo being used here is the real deal! The Hindi Oud is wonderful and reminds me of the EO1 Manipur, while the animalic notes are very reserved and tame, more like a kitten than a tiger. The musk is more of an afterthought, not as heavy or wild as the deer musks used by Russian Adam. Someone mentioned this reminiscent of Oud Infini, I agree only to the atmospherical aspect of it, but this is MUCH better, the Oud is way more prominent and apparent, and the rose isn't jammy or anything, more like a light rose water, coupling along with other floral notes to provide balance and support to the Oud. If you're familiar with pure Oud attars you will absolutely love the Ghaliyah Reflection, so glad I got my paws on this one. The bottle is so tiny and cute, with excellent sprayer, very fine mist that you could control how heavy you want to spray this stuff. Longevity is decent enough, aligned with most natural Oud fragrance, projection is nothing to write home about either, it's a close scent bubble that I think most Oud fanatics would absolutely enjoy. This is unisex, can be enjoyed and rocked by both man and woman, wear this all year long and adjust the sprays depending on the season.

Big, oud and civet opening. The oud is Hindi, strong and leathery without being funky. The heart is a beautiful dry, slightly spicy rose. I get a fair amount of sandalwood, too. The drydown is resinous amd softly musky. This is an EXCELLENT perfume. A friendlier version of Oudh Infini. Too bad it is or will be sold out as of this review. I am new to Dixit and Zak/Amelia and they have made a lifelong customer out of me.

Great stuff.......stronger than what may seem on initially wearing...I believe outstanding sillage. Quality is there. I know it was a good oud when my wife didn't care for it. hahah....but I love it. On my A list in my collection, a great find and buy.

After sitting a full day with this fragrance I was able to recreate the scent in my mind as I lay in bed. What exactly was I smelling? What were the florals and the animalics? I try not to look at note listings anymore until after I’m firmly rooted in what I feel is reality. With that being said @dixitzak have created a wonderful scent for Amelia Perfume’s first offering. I understand why they chose to release this under a different brand entirely. To me this is a fresh take on Oud based perfumery in a world where everyone is scrambling to appeal to Western palettes and often butchering whatever the original goal was in the first place by castrating the wonderful power of raw Hindi Oud. I’m sure you’ve all seen it before in dozens and dozens of scent descriptions “we used Hindi Oud but DONT WORRY it won’t smell anything like it”. Well guess what? Ghaliya Reflection DOES capture the essence of Hindi Oud without destroying the character and essence we all love. I think this is the first fragrance that is appealing to the western palette that showcases the powerful scent profile of deeply resinous woods, bubbling ouddy incense and animalic leather without feeling offensive and simultaneously having mass appeal within the mainstream niche community. Ghaliya Reflection modernizes the traditional Ghaliya recipe and gives it subtle nuances that can only be achieved with expert blending and high quality materials. Overall this is a huge step forward for these gentlemen and I hope they continue to explore this direction

From the opening of Ghaliyah Reflection, I get some citruses, the main citrus note I get is the grapefruit but it vanishes within seconds as the Indian oud starts appearing along with the civet. The oud here is a beautiful leathery Indian oud and it is present throughout the life of the fragrance. After that, some florals start appearing, mainly tuberose. The floral notes are followed by a rose note which is combined with musk to produce a beautiful and sensual heart. I detect some spices like cumin in the background. In the drydown, a noticeable ambergris note starts appearing in addition to some animalic notes. The main animalic note I detect is the civet. In addition, I think the castoreum emphasizes the leathery side of the oud. There is a touch of creamy Sandalwood in the drydown. Overall, Ghaliyah Reflection is a beautiful fragrance which has many layers and it keeps changing throughout the wearing, I detect new facets with every wearing. The longevity of Ghaliyah is surprisingly great on my skin.

Dixit & Zak - Ghaliyah Reflection 2 sprays on the each side of the neck and you good to go for 10 hours. It's a beastly perfume, with first spray I sneezed (No, I didn't sprayed it in my nose) but it's that strong. It's a Civet heavy scent where you get a lot, a lot of castoreum and Oud. It's like a wild Mustang as soon as you take that cap off the bottle and it literally filled my room with its aroma. Indian spices, saffron, Rose, Musk. Too much going on in here and it layers out in a pretty awesome manner which keeps you wondering what else is there in it? Unlike Kashmir Nuit, it's texture is pretty bold and on your face right after first spray. It kind of remind me of T Rex, both are different but both are STRONG. Ghaliyah is pure art in a bottle which you won't want to miss for sure. This is a kind of perfume, Mike Tyson would love to wear since he is making a comeback at 54. Man this is fierce for sure. #dixitandzak

This has to be the perfume of the year 2020 for me personally, I have tried so many Oud based perfumes and I dont even mind the skanky fecal openings of Musiqa Oud by Nishane. But Man, let me tell you this is one good crafted blend, this is a true Artisanal perfumes. Perfume of the year for me hands down. The Natural opening is not sharp, its actually floral oudy smell, which dries down to such a mix of things that it becomes difficult for me to put my finger on what am I smelling. There are not many reviews out there but the one from MrOZ describes it the best way. Highly recommend it if you are use to Niche and Artisanal perfumery. My only gripe is that its only 30 ml, I wish they sold it for 50 or 60 ml.

A Masterpiece. The best fragrance so far by Dixit and Zak and one of the best fragrances period. They recently introduced 3 new fragrances( including one by Amelia) This the best by far with rising Mysore 2 next.( Kashmir Nuit has an awful medicinal quality and is barely a skin scent) This one has too many notes to mention but it’s “ Beast” and smells incredible. Beg borrow or steal( well not really) for a decant as bottles you would have to trade a kidney for( almost worth it)
