Beach Hut Woman

Today, I will analyze one of the most hidden midnight flowers . Beach Hut Woman is a unique masterpiece; I have never encountered a fragrance with a similar olfactory profile. I may lack imagination, but the scent is perfectly expressed by what Chong outlined in the concept: a desolate beach, probably in winter. For me, Beach Hut Woman carries an emotional duality depending on the season in which it is worn: in winter, it has a melancholic, nostalgic scent, like when you think of the sea during winter, but the cold surrounding you transforms that vision. In summer evenings, however, it is pure joy, elegance, and brilliance. Speaking of Amouage, it goes without saying how exceptional the raw materials used are, especially the patchouli, whose pungent presence softens into a sweet underlying sensation. I am quite sure that frankincense is hidden in the composition as well. I have a special relationship with cashmeran. I don’t know exactly what it smells like on its own, but I feel a strong connection to fragrances that contain it, almost as if they were embracing my heart. Beach Hut Woman creates nostalgic addiction, a deep attachment. I only had the chance to buy it now, after years of smelling the fragrance from a friend’s bottle in awe. Considering that, unfortunately, Amouage’s management has decided to discontinue it, I absolutely had to get my hands on it (luckily, at a great price). I dare say that I believe the perfume was discontinued due to the ignorance of the masses, as happened with other masterpieces like Myths Man, Bracken, and so on. Art is always a victim of ignorance

A true Amouage, this is a shapeshifter. It opens very similar to Oud Minérale, with a twist of ylang alongside, then comes the cashmeran. For a while, I could only smell the cashmeran, but then it shifted again, and I started getting a rich, realistic wood feel. It seemed simple, turned out to be very complex, and I love it. This one is strong, but not overpowering. There's definitely more going on than the notes suggest. I'm getting a touch of sweetish mint, somewhere between geranium and spearmint, and possibly a whiff of jasmine, although maybe that's the ylang in disguise. Underneath it all is exceptionally high quality patchouli, leaning bone-dry and without a trace of pickle, and the cashmeran resurfaces to warm it slightly. The more the wear goes on, the more addictive I'm finding it. It's also worth mentioning that, while there's no identifiable incense specifically, there is the general feel of incense, I guess the house DNA, which is heavenly for me as an incense lover. It doesn't resemble anything else apart from the fleeting twinkle of Oud Minérale, but that's probably just the calone. Calone can be horrific with one tweak in the wrong direction but this is genius. One last thing, as others have said it's nothing like BH Man, I beg to differ, I think there are clear common threads, woods, mint, salt, to name three, and it feels related if you're familiar with both. Like its counterpart, it's easy to overspray so be careful, it might not seem nuclear but it is.

I’ve had and loved this for a couple of years, shortly after it was discontinued I’m sure. It’s a rare Amouage feminine that is both incredibly transportative and chameleon-like. Everyone gets something different and on different days you will perceive yet another facet. Personally, I appreciate each encounter and the fact it’s a foil to many of my other fragrances that are decidedly feminine. I like unisex fragrances especially those without the annoying “blue” notes I baulk at that signify straight-up masculines, to me. This is one of those. Wearing today on a dry and breezy summers days with stunning blue skies the citrus and ozonic/metallic nuances are up front - fresh and crisp. The woody base gives an astringent dryness and a slight buzz of spice. No real individual notes are apparent, more it’s a “feel” leaving you with hints and perceptions. I am curious how the Ylang is woven in. Perhaps that’s the thicker slightly creamy soapy aspect - reminding of clouds of sea foam on the shoreline, woven through the drift wood as it dries in the sun. I associate this with happy sunny summer days that are unbound from workday rigour and structure, bare feet, sun warmed skin and days that stretch into the distance.

Probably the single most beautiful scent experience I've ever set nose upon. There is something in Beach Hut Woman that strikes a primal nerve. It must be the cashmeran some claim smells of wet dog. Here, it makes me want to dress in fur pelts and light a fire with nothing but sticks and stones. There is plenty of pale dry wood to ignite that flame too.I'd say this fragrance is smoky in an ethereal way. Just a single spark and a thin tendril of gray smoke rising up into the fog. Lisylang natural brings in an exotic sweetness though very diffuse, like a hidden flower. I keep wondering what color it is. Are it's petals thick and waxy? The mineral element is one of heavy wet clay. It's the kind I long to squish through my bare toes because I know its going to feel better than a pedicure in heaven. There is also something good to eat here. Something in the vegetable family. Possibly a type of melon. Suddenly I'm starving. I need to find this fruit and consume it in a single bite, skin and all. Throughout all this longing and wonder, I realize just how dead sexy Beach Hut Woman has become. Now I long to find a mate to share in this scent, or at the very least, I'll re-read Clan of the Cave Bear. FB must.

I found the opening freshly arresting. And arrestingly fresh. Like a combo of melon and cucumber. Soon after, there is rising warmth and to me, it smells like the warm fur of a cat that's been soaking in the sun. Like I'm buried deep in the cat's coat and sniffing it. Weird. Apart from some subtle seashore nuances in the late drydown, I'm not getting very strong beachy vibes here, unlike Beach Hut Man. Nor is Beach Hut Woman as complex as the men's. But I'm liking this one quite a lot. It's rather avant-garde. There is nothing homely, ordinary or every-day about this fragrance. It's for the adventurous gal. Or an icily beautiful Dutch fashion model in a leather jacket. (Or maybe a mermaid - ha!) It conveys to me a cool and detached sexiness. Or is it just me? Other sniffers, please share. UPDATE: Wow. I just applied 3-4 sprays from my sample to my neck and the experience is completely different. It's like being immersed in warm sea water and I get images of the rolling waves further out to sea. Weird. Just weird. But so well-done. Not sure how they achieve this effect, but they do. This is a true aquatic But like the best one I have ever smelled ...

I’ve really been on a journey with a small 2ml sample of this. I bought a bunch of Amouage samples early on in my fragrance “hobby” which developed in earnest during COVID. My first sniff and wear of Beach Hut W I thought it was awful, and I couldn’t understand who would ever like it. All I got was mineral notes, dryness, and maybe some wood/cedar. Coming from my designer sweetness up until that point, it was quite a shock. But interestingly it’s been on the back of my mind since that first spray 10 months ago. I tried it again 2-3 months ago and wasn’t sure. But in the past week or two, I’ve been wearing it frequently and it’s grown into a love I think? I’m definitely considering a full bottle. I still get the mineral notes and the driftwood, but I appreciate them now AND also I get the florals intertwined (ylang, I guess!). It’s really understated and lovely. Wearing very well in the record temperature “heat dome” we’re currently experiencing. Definitely worth getting a sample and spending some time with this one! I understand the ratings here, but with some time this may grow to be a love for others as well.

A monster on the skin, but crazy in the trail 😍 That's why I'm both afraid and adore it. This fragrance needs air and space, it is not a fan of closed spaces and close hugs. It is not the kind of scent that you apply to your skin, breathe in through your nose, wrap yourself in a warm blanket, and fall asleep with it. My associations with it: "The sea coast, a cool, wet breeze playing with sand that hasn't been touched by a tourist for a long time. The area is wild. There is a large piece of wood on the sand. It has been here for a long time, dried by the sun and cracked. For a moment, the edge of the water touches its surface, because the strong wind today is making big waves. The air carries the smell of dry wood, cool sea moisture, and approaching rain." Wet, cool, memorable, with a beautiful trail. I have seen that some people perceive it as "melancholic". For me, it's different, it's 'meditative'. With it, time somehow slows down, calmness comes, I close my eyes and find myself on a wild shore. I want to sit on this shore alone, watch the restless waves, and think about something of my own.

This smells like the storage room of a beach house. I don't see the "cold, dark, wintery" beach people are talking about. But I do smell the driftwood reminiscent of palapas and docks. The opening is definitely unisex, somewhat airy and aquatic, a love for me. It soon transforms into this spicy, dry wood scent that I really like. However I find the third stage to be absolutely masculine, after-shavy, old-fashioned. Opposite to some experiences below, for me it doesn't change beyond that stage. My husband really likes this scent and though I wear it from time to time, I'd rather smell it on him. EDIT: After escaping the winter in the tropics, I can say this is one of the best beach scents out there. The hint of dried up palm leaves and salty air just blends wonderfully with the environment, day and night. Contrary to what I stated before, it didn't feel too masculine in the right setting. As I wear it on relaxed sunny days it will be forever reminiscent of my last vacation. This quickly turned into a love for me.

I’ve read before of people sampling scents where the opening was gross, then 15 minutes later they are swooning over the drydown....and it finally happened to me. Absolutely detested the opening, a disgusting melange of wet dog fur and assorted chemicals. But then the drydown happened, and I finally picked up the mineral—salt specifically—and wood notes. There’s nothing tropical here, so this beach is sitting somewhere in the northern hemisphere. And, it’s nothing like it’s counter partner, Beach Hut Man. That one I fell in love with immediately. With mint, ivy and a nuclear vetiver, Beach Hut Man has been one of the most complimented scents I have worn in 2019. Back to Beach Hut Woman: I think it squarely sits in the marine aquatic bucket. I like that it doesn’t smell like others in its genre. Completely unisex in my opinion, just like Beach Hut Man. This is a good one, don’t be put off by the first few minutes. I’ll be looking for a deal on a gently used bottle.

This is a deep scent that gives the illusion of smokiness. There's a depth to this that feels like contemplation and life-changing realisations. The smell itself isn't what I'd call beachy. There's a saltiness to it from the driftwood, Cashmeran, and Bergamot. The peppery patchouli deepens the scent and the mineral accord is introspective and solitary. The Ylang ylang brightens this but only slightly. The over-all vibe is intrigue and exotic. I cannot stop smelling my wrist at all it's so good. This fragrance is gorgeous but not for those who prefer anything sweet or gourmand. I do not detect a gender from this scent; I believe it could be worn by men just as well as women. The over-all effect of this for me is grounding and calming. Silage is soft to moderate and longevity is outstanding. This gives me no issues with scent sensitivity. @autoperk is correct in saying it touches a primal nerve. I can't even describe how much I love this.

This scent is definitely associative. One early morning in spring, I was wakesurfing in the mist. The sun was breaking through it, sketching the silhouettes of high-rises on the shore. The wind was blowing, and there was a taste of salt in my mouth from the falls. My mind was utterly blank - total nirvana - and I even landed a new trick. It felt so surreal, as if the world had already dissolved, and the wakesurfers had woken up in their own paradise where there’s only freedom, flight on the wave, fog and laid-back music. That morning, all my doubts about Beach Hut evaporated. I bought it and was wearing it all day, carrying this blissful morning feeling with me everywhere. It’s like a scent that decided not to just exist, but to bend the concept of time and space around itself: one spritz and you’re back in that mist, the world erased, just you, the wave, and the sense of weightless escape.

I absolutely love this fragrance and never would have thought driftwood and my mortal enemy, patchouli, could smell so good together. It's a summer scent but it's not like one of the many suntan lotion, citrusy fragrances out there. And while I may enjoy the fragrances I just mentioned, sometimes you need something different. Beach Hut Woman is cool ocean air, you're on the beach alone - you prefer to be alone just watching the waves. It's not a sunny day, it's slightly overcast with a storm coming your way - but none of that bothers you because at this moment you feel peace even as the storm builds up around you, the waves crashing down more violently. Even as your life crashes down around you - this is the one moment where you can be free. Do try this on skin, not on clothes - especially if patchouli is not a note you like very much - it's better on skin.

When I first sprayed this it was a confusing punch in the face...one YouTube review said it smelled like cigarettes and I can see that I guess... but it mellowed out soon after and I fell in love. It also lasts forever on my skin! It's the smell of the dunes of a beach in the cooler months...driftwood salt and seaweed but the sun is shining. Someone mentioned the smell of straw hats and I get that in the opening for sure. The bergamot really remains through much of the duration. At times I get a more masculine vibe (which I love) but there is a constant gentle warmth and subtle sweetness coming from the base...maybe the cashmerean. I can see why some may not enjoy this one but personally I love it. Its unique and makes me feel relaxed. It lasts forever. It's just my cup of tea. But you should really test on your skin before buying.

I realize that everyone has their own unique chemistry and olfactory experiences with fragrance, but I'm perplexed by the negative reviews of Beach Hut. It's a gorgeous fragrance that absolutely does harken to every note and intent in its note profile. You get the minerals, the sun-dried driftwood, an overcast blanket of cashmeran, and seaside rain cut with the crispness of patchouli and bergamot. That said, this is not a feminine fragrance (perhaps that's the reason for negative reviews)? At best, it is unisex, if not decidedly masculine-leaning. It's been discontinued so bear that in mind in case you love it as much as I do - pick one up while you can - there are quite a few from reputable discounters that make this beauty an absolute must-have.

I know this fragrance is either a love or a hate. If you went to the beach as a child and stayed at a wooden cabin this will bring you back. I himmed and hawed about purchasing this but I had a wonderful childhood and my parents loved to go to the beach, Jersey shore and Cape Cod to be exact, so I wanted a memory from that part of my childhood. We also had a pool cabana with the same fragrance memory, so this is why this was a definite purchase. Longevity is very good on my skin and this is a gender neutral scent which I love. Way in the back I do smell the ylang ylang. This is a definite summer scent for me anyway! Recommended if you don’t always want floral and something unique for summer! 8/10 this is not a blind buy at all

Dang this is so good. It’s unique not a safe blind buy- you can tell that from the reviews. Sweet citrus up top mixes with those mineral notes. The cashmeran makes this really cozy and relaxing. The patchouli adds some earthy spiciness. The driftwood note is so good... yea it smells you’re hanging out on the porch of a weathered beach hut baked in the sun. It’s a lazy day flip flops scent. A relaxing exploration day on an undeveloped beach in a very remote area of the island- it’s just you or maybe just you and your SO. Very spa like scent. To me it’s stunning- earthy, spicy, woody and a bit sweet citrus with that slight metallic smell you get with something that’s been weathered by the salt of the ocean.

I love this - it really brings a certain image to your mind, one that isn't the typical sunscreen, warm sand, sunshine and a pina colada. This beach is cold, there aren't tourists sunbathing, there isn't that ever pervading smell of sunscreen and it most definitely isn't sunny. I wear this when I'm not in the mood for any of the typical summer perfumes, instead I want to be taken on that journey to the chilly air, the waves crashing against the shore - maybe a storm forming. This isn't one I wear often, but the artistic value draws me to it every now and then. I don't think you need to be a certain age (or gender) to enjoy this in all its glorious melancholy. Amouage did a wonderful job with this one.

(Sometimes in the morning in about 9 to 10 o’clock i deeply consider running away; to somewhere far far from here. Somewhere that the sun shines brightly and people are innocent. and when i get to the ocean i feel the warmth of sands under my feet...and the horizon smiles at me). Beach hut woman is the most artistic way to capture a desired depressed oceanic solitude in a bottle. In the world of perfumery working with marine notes is quite risky..because they can easily tend to feel plasticky synthetic with just one little mistake. But here is an exception. Beach hut woman is what freedom can smell. Although longevity and sillage is not a thing with amouage; it won’t disappoint you. 8/10

Beautiful...the marine notes, the driftwood..the way a beach really smells, without the fake ocean accords or the sweet coconut so many have. I'm instantly transported to a wild, salty ocean with large imposing rock formations, seaweed, sand, a petricore experience, wind whipping through your hair, crabs crawling, empty shells and beach glass dotting the coarse salty sand..although it's a summer scent , this is a cold beach, sweater necessary. It's not cheap even on sale and it might be discontinued, but this is my beach scent. Figment is a favourite but this one? A back up FB is in my near future.i WILL find it.✨

Another Amouage LOVE for me. My other loves from the line are Epic woman and Bracken woman. All are FB worthy in my collection. I agree with others who say the name is misleading. IMHO, this is neither aquatic nor beachy. On the contrary, the combination of mineral, wood, molecule and patch notes gives me a very bright, unique, urban vibe. Not a flowery, blushing violet, traipsing-thru-the-tulips scent. Definitely unisex. Not a traditional French style fragrance. Think cool Nordics. Long lasting with moderate sillage. P.S. Though a love for me, not a safe blind buy. Highly recommend skin test.

I actually LOVE this scent. Amouage hit this one out of the park. The scent reminds me of both the time I've spent kayaking and sleeping on sandy beaches in the Ten Thousand Islands of the Everglades, as well as camping in the dry and open air of the Omani desert. Not for the faint of heart, and most enjoyable about 15-20 minutes after the first spray. Not a sexy or provocative fragrance, but a beautifully chaste, salty, woody smell that is great for spring and summer days. A soft/light application in the hot hot heat is when this fragrance shines!

When I was a child we always had our holidays in an old beach house. It was made of fibro, had louvred windows that were always coated with salt, and old rattan floor covering. The rattan was laid in squares and had definitely seen better days. Years of happy holidays with sandy feet, wet dogs and dumped fishing tackle had left the rattan worn and shaggy. And as it gradually aged on that floor it permeated the house with the glorious aroma of rattan and sea air This is Beach Hut Woman. I’m very happy to have this in my collection.

My taste in fragrance has definitely evolved, and this one really proves it. When I first tried Beach Hut Woman, I respected it more than I loved it. It felt very green and a little sharp compared to what I was used to. But over the past nine months I kept reaching for it, and it slowly clicked. The fresh ivy and that airy, windswept coastal feel started to feel refined and calming rather than challenging. Now I genuinely love it — enough to buy a full bottle. Sometimes a perfume doesn’t change... you do. ❤️

Heard this was being discontinued and my heart broke a little. I absolutely love this. I have and have had many amouage fragrances but this is by far my favorite. Thankfully I already have a back up bottle. But I do want to say that you have to get to know this one. When I first smelled it.... I hated it! I was repulsed.... It smelled like cigarette smoke to me. And I hate that smell. But after a few wears I began to recognize the individual notes and I fell in love!! Oh my goodness I love this so much!

I like wearing this. I get salty driftwood, softens and a muskiness comes forward. This is straight up unisex. Not feminine at all. I like this as an alternative to sweet bergamot heavy summer fragrances. Not a safe blind buy. Not a love at first sniff. You have to wear it on your skin to get a good feeling for this. It is more of an experience type fragrance. That being said I love it enough to go FULL BOTTLE.

My favorite scent for hut ocean Summer in New Jersey . Fresh, but with lots of personality and adventure. Driftwood, broken boat, pirates and cocktails on the beach, fishing in Atlantic Ocean. Salt and Margarita. Reminds me my favorite Spring Lake Beach. Doesn’t last forever, have to add every 3-4 hours. But still it’s amazing work. ❤️☀️🏄🏻♂️🐚🐠

Gorgeous masterpice! Totally unisex.It is fresh,dry and warm,all at the same time. No sweetness of what so ever whitch is perfect for me because I don't like sweet parfumes. It is long lasting and projects very well. All of my reviews are for original bottles not samples / dupes.

One of the best ever created summer fragrances of all time. It is not like the others; it gives you the whole sea experience in one sniff. It blends your sea memories with your dreams in seconds. It is a masterpiece and an artistic perfume.

Driftwood, vetiver, minerals. Very nice scent. I enjoy it a lot. Unique and reminds me more of a cold beach than a hot one. Not summery, you could wear this any time of year. Very intriguing. Low sillage, not much projection.

This is not feminine by any mean. The best it can be is unisex, but It definitely leans more masculine, especially with the presence of the driftwood note. Its very fresh and aquatic. Great performance and projection.

To me, this is a sandalwood ambergris. I have been getting whiffs of salty sweet woody heaven scent throughout the day wear. It is truely a new love discovery for me!

Top Notes : Bergamot, Mineral Accord Heart Notes : Driftwood Accord, Lisylang Base Notes : Patchouli, Cashmeran I'm a lover of Amouage both old and new, I have many bottles in my collection from both eras, and I have the same experience as Giacomofragrantica and Magellan0101 regarding this fragrance, this smells to me exactly as intended by Chong: a maybe deserted beach in winter, or at least colder weather. “This aromatic ode is a vintage flashback to the mesmerizing beaches and forgotten summers. Beyond the weathered beach hut and soft, white sand dunes, a garden full of bright wild flower blooms despite the crisp, wintery air,” said Chong. “The juxtaposition of warm and cool elements create a scent that gives us all a sense of nostalgia.” I love the sea in any state and I've travelled enough countries to say this smells exactly like the beach left to its natural state, when barely any human is around and the few that you can see around are collecting sea shells, with algae both green and also a bit decomposing, the fresh mineral salty sea breeze, empty sea shells, earthy, some driftwood, humid cold / fresh / breezy / crisp air, but there's also a hint of yellow florals and green vegetation if you really think about it. Opens with a spicy mineral melon (must be calone) and bubblegum scent (tuberose), you can also smell geranium and spearmint, and possibly a whiff of jasmine, definitely green frankincense too. Then the sweetness goes away and the saltiness and cashmeran remain. I wouldn't say it lasts that long, I'd say moderate projection (but I'm not an oversprayer, I always judge all my frags by one spray on skin, on my arm only) and moderate lasting power, especially on skin (batch made in Oman 2021). I love it so much! I'll probably never wear it in public though, though some people apparently got compliments, but I just love to wear this for myself, in house, when I miss the sea and wish to relax, to calm down, it's so refreshing and soothing at the same time, invigorating! But that's because of my associations with the sea, maybe someone who is afraid of water wouldn't feel this way... However my husband doesn't like it, he first said "it smells like an old lady powder", when I asked him why he couldn't say, when I told him it's maybe the driftwood, he said "fine, it smells like an old house of an old lady!" and we usually have the same preferences, like 90% of the time we agree... blind buyers be warned! I don't like patchouli, I can barely stand it in even fragrances like Coromandel, but in here it's just earthy, vegetal, petrichor like. The lisylang note is there but only if you really think about it, it's not ylang, it's "a rare specialty distillation of ylang ylang, removing the heady and narcotic properties that the more common essential oil variety is known for. It has a soft, floral bouquet reminiscent of white lily with jasmine, monoi and frangipani undertones." Cabour beach in front of Casino Partouche smelled like this in April and that's a very clean beach, as well as any beach in Europe or South Asia that are not catered for tourists at that moment, and yes, it has to be out of season, in colder months or early morning or on a cooler night, when you can smell the sea and the rocks (wet pebbles or large cliffs) more than anything else. If you're looking for modern tropical type of fragrances, with lots of yellow flowers like Terracotta, Aerin Hibiscus Palm and such, this is NOT it!!! I don't like those as an idea... And this is definitely unisex but I would never associate this with a person but with pure raw nature. Though the bottle is gorgeous, I don't know why this colour was chosen, or the name, since it smells more like the sea and algae and wet sand than wood, maybe that was Chong's beach hut he stayed at for real (Google "yellow beach hut" and you'll see what I mean). Also for people who are looking for perfumes to smell "perfumy" this is also not it, this is more like a room fragrance, it portrays something real, a scent to invoke a memory, to transport you to a different place and time. But maybe for people who have no idea about the name or intent it will just smell like a very green yellow flower?... I'll start asking around :D Definitely don't buy retail or above price, purchase worthy only if you can find it less than half price, which you still can! I couldn't find any samples, so I just bit the bullet, worst case scenario you resell it, in which case getting it for a good price does the trick, but it's definitely a risky one, like all great people, things and scents: polarizing!

This stuff hits like a brick when it first goes on. I thought it would be melony, as that is what it smelt like in the vial (and I love melon); it was not. Strong, chemical, salty, woody... It goes on like something highly toxic and yet, very familiar. I want to say wood preserver? But, I don't think it's that. Something that comes in a tin with a warning on it. Yes it smells like a beach - but, more like a highly polluted beach with an giant oil slick on it. I spent a lot of time, as a child, on a long beach, in the North West of England, where even at high tide the sea was still a long way out. Most of that beach was nice. Lots of people visited it and it had lovely sand dunes. However, part of it had an oil platform just off shore and sometimes, when you walked out to the sea where that platform was, it smelt a little like a (far less strong) version of this fragrance. Normally, when there were streaks of black oil on the shore and a rainbow sheen in the pools... So, in a way, it's accurate in what it claims to represent and it's interesting for that; but, it's also pretty pungent and unpleasant, at first. It calms down a bit, after a while, the ylang ylang kicks in and it gradually starts to smell more like a fragrance than a chemical weapon. At that point, it begins to remind me of a fairly pleasant perfume I smelt as a child (which I also can't quite place?). However, it's still, shall we say, more on the slightly challenging side than the pretty side. It becomes a bit tea-like. Tea in a deserted beach hut, on a polluted beach. You know when you were a child and you liked the smell of petrol, but could tell it wasn't really good for you, at the same time? I remember it heightened my senses and made me tingle, slightly. This is kind of what this fragrance is like. Not that I'm tingling and nor I am saying it smells exactly like petrol, or oil. But, it has that same strangely pleasant (even exciting, in a way) and yet worrying, toxic feel. If you are looking for an experience, or like to be challenged a little with your fragrances, go for it. If you're looking for salt, seaweed, hot sand and suntan lotion, probably better to look elsewhere. 7/10 for me, because it is both interesting and (eventually) quite pleasant on some level. Would I buy a full bottle? Probably not. Edit: The drydown is not unpleasant, but it leans a little too much to the cold/masculine side, for me. It's still quite sweet, musky and salty, but it becomes quite earthy and minerally (like a pebbly beach), rather than woody. It actually smells rather like those hard pebble sweets, which you can buy at the British seaside, taste. (Not to be confused with the soft, fruit centred US ones.) It's an interesting continuation of the theme, but it's not how I would choose to smell, for any length of time, personally. So, to summarize: This is a fragrance that starts off very pungent and oily. It then becomes sweet, tea-like, woody, salty and somewhat feminine and pleasant, relatively briefly. Then, all too soon, it begins to descend into rather cold, more traditionally masuline, rocky territory. I would definitely say it has the potential to be unisex - but, only if you are happy to smell like you are wearing a more traditionally female fragrance, at one point and then (increasingly) a more traditionally male fragrance, later on. As opposed to it straddling the line, equally, all along.

I can't decide how much I like this one, I like it but I may need to sample it again. This opens pretty salty, citrus and salty. Definitely getting the Ylang Ylang blending with the citrus and salt giving a slight floral accord, a little banana in there I think from the Ylang Ylang too. I didn't get much "driftwood", I notice it, there's a slight woody note that comes in the mids, but I wish there was more of that here. I do get the cashmeran in the dry down giving it a fuzzy warmth. It's a nice blend of notes, and the kind of marine/aquatic scent that I like, unique in comparison to typical designer aquatics. This reminds me of milesime imperial, with undertones of beach hut man. I have clones of beach hut and milesime imperial from Alexanderia fragrances, and I've layered them together and it has a similar effect. I actually just sprayed the two on top of each other on paper and I think I like the combination of those 2 better than beach hut woman. Creates a very similar vibe but with more complexity. I do like beach hut woman it's a nice fragrance, I either want to sample it again or maybe pick up a bottle. What I don't get with beach hut woman is the description for the fragrance, moments of serenity on a deserted beach. And some of these comments about feeling like sitting on driftwood on a cold solitary beach with warmth from the cashmere sweater. I just don't get that. I'm sorry, for 30 years I lived on basically a large island surrounded by the ocean in northeast US, I lived 5 minutes away from many different beaches, I spent plenty of time on the lesser known ones. And the majority of my beach time was typically in the off season when no one was at the beach during the colder months. I fished, surf cast, with my dad at plenty of bays and ocean sides on plenty of non beach days. I also used to go with my dad every weekend during oyster season typically starting around October until the weather was too cold to shellfish and I would go for jogs on the cold deserted beach while he picked his oysters. These were beautiful moments of serenity within a beach environment and this fragrance does nothing to connect me to that environment or feeling. This wears like a perfume, amouage has some wonderful fragrances that replicate environments and atmospheres, beach hut woman smells like a perfume, not an environment. I'm not upset with the scent, it is nice but I had high hopes for something more challenging and fitting to the description. Overall first impressions, I like it, but not sure how much, seems like it could be the type that would grow on me if I decided to get a bottle.

To me this fragrance is an enigma. If you were to read the notes here I'm not sure you'd get an accurate picture of what's going on? Perhaps the Ylang, cashmerean and bergamot are all represented, the drift wood mood is also evoked throughout as it was in the men's version which I liked. This is something Chong and Amouage's various perfumers do really well, making fun-house mirror images of the masculine and feminine release concepts. I get a kind of wetter, tulip/hyacinth/narcissus in the opening but only for a very fleeting moment becoming sweeter more exotic, lightly powdery and violet like. It's not as sweet and characteristic as a straight forward violet, but that's all I'm capable of describing it as right now. Ionone dryness here to me. The dryness of this 'acquatic' or seaside fragrance should be contradictory but this is where the driftwood note is so apparent. It's more liked to something which has imbibed those, salinated, seawater qualities over a long period, drying out in the sun but still seeped in it, and waiting to be soaked again by the next tide. The woody attack at the start is similar to cypriol or papyrus and works well with the florals but is a bit of a challenge too. I think they just judged this right and when settled and dried right the way down this quality fades in to a much more musky, hazy character. I love Cashmerean but it's much maligned as a cheap, aroma chemical way of building a bit of warmth and structure, and although I can't ever really describe it as prominent, the effect is here in the latter stages for sure. So this is a very unusual fragrance then, which evokes the sea without resorting to the usual 'blue' cliches, citrus (well there's some) acquatic, ozone, salty, seaweed or generous application of the Calone molecule. It doesn't lean on these crutches in the same way the masculine counterpart doesn't either. I'm not mad about this fragrance and although I like the opening a lot, the mid part less so (is weird) and the drydown is good. Lasts well but is mellow, it's got a lot going for it.

A sample of Beach Hut was included in my coffret of Amouage samples. I find it hard to believe that this is a bestseller, as the description of the coffret would have you believe. It is an unusual scent, more of an artistic interpretation of a coastal place than a wearable perfume. I second beata4u2 below: there is no sunshine in this scent; instead, it smells of silt, salt and the exposed rock face that is typically found in coves and constantly bombarded by the sea. It is like the coast during the winter - stormy, cold and damp. BH opens with an unusual mineral accord that smells exactly like the aforementioned exposed rock, together with sea salt. Dark, damp and brooding, it is quite well-rendered. Bergamot follows, its dark tartness enhancing the minerals perfectly without adding sunshine. There is a barely-there hint of floral thanks to the ylang ylang note, but it is almost imperceptible. However, it is well-placed, giving BH a much-needed little lift. As it develops, it becomes dry and woody, and musky cashmeran emerges in the background. It is quite salty here - very much a driftwood-like accord. It is in danger of becoming metallic, but it is well-composed, with the patchouli note rescuing it in the nick of time, here cosplaying as seaweed. The drydown is woody and salty, playing out on a cashmeran backdrop. Sillage is moderate, and longevity is surprisingly long-lasting. Marine-like, moody and melancholic, BH is a well-crafted piece of art. It is unisex, but not the most wearable scent despite being reasonably fresh and discreet. Too wintry to be worn in winter, BH perhaps works best as an unusual spring/summer scent. Really interesting, but to be appreciated from a distance rather than loved and worn daily. 3/5.

This fragrance was on clearance with no tester so I bought it for my wife without smelling it. First time she used it, she got a headache. I think she was a bit too generous with the number of sprays. So she tried it again another day with a lighter touch and arrived at the same conclusion - Beach Hut Woman is not for her. So I happily took it off her - for a fragrance marketed For Women, this is decidedly unisex to masculine-leaning. It opens mineralic with a smell of damp wood- the wood smells like it was soaked in brine. The flowery, citric notes are very quiet in my bottle and it dries down to a slight earthy scent. This is not a compliment magnet. However, if you like marine scents that stray far from the mainstream fragrance paths, I think you'll like this. Works well outdoors if you have a light breeze blowing or the weather is cool. If you use this in a confined space with other people present, they might not thank you for it. Good longevity (circa 8hrs minimum) with moderate projection. As it is discontinued, I'd recommend sampling before splurging on a full bottle.

Citrus on a beach. WOW that initial spray is a shock. It literally smells like a salty beach with old driftwood, rattan mats, and drying moss and seaweed lying about. This is one of those fragrances that I appreciate because it so clearly evokes exactly what it says it will - a beach hut. It's an environment. It's a fascinating journey. Beach Hut reminds somewhat of Zoologist Squid (though the incense in Squid makes it more romantic). And now I want to take a trip to a beachy place. But do I want to smell like this? Hm I'm not so sure. Though I'm still returning to it on my wrist/arm with no desire to wash it off. After a good while (5+ hours) it's a kind of soft watery floral scent. Lol what the heck happened! So well put together. I could see smelling this on a man and it working - still leans toward more unisex. But in its first hours this is such a brown sea-green dried salty wood I picture an old man/beach bum... or a pirate, flowers in his/her hair.

Beach hut woman belongs in an odd genre of beachy marine scents. That leads things wide open to interpretation. Amouage decided to play on a beach in the winter where a mineral marine accord joins in with a driftwood note and a citrus ylang tries to brighten the composition from going into a melancholy decayed vibe. The cashmeran makes things hazy like the sea sprays off the beach at the end of summer at sundown for the final time before the cold winter storms roll in. There is a certain fading warmth about it. Its more a mental contemplative experience in a bottle type of scent. Keep in mind it leans very base notes in its idea.Soft skin type of scent. Sillage is low. Try before you buy. Those that like CK reveal/Olympea or Avqa Divinia shouldnt have an issue with the scent. I add Ciel to it for some florals and lift.

This is an interesting fragrance as it gives a unique interpretation of an aquatic fragrance. To give you an idea, Imagine you are on a nice beach coast and everybody takes a photo from the sea/ocean but somebody finds an old, wet driftwood on the coast and takes a photo of that in the sea background. This is how we may see/feel a scenery in a different way. I really enjoy the mineral, and driftwood notes of this fragrance. My most loved fragrances are those that connect me to my childhood. I was not born in a coastal town, but if you were, this would be a very interesting and memorable fragrance for you. Not a safe blind buy. 8/10

I went to the shops and tried out all Amouage scents and this was by far the worst of the bunch. But then I got home and smelt the paper and it was honestly the best thing I'd ever smelt in my life. The first spray is definitely horrible so I agree with the other reviewers, do not put it to your nose at first. I'd suggest you apply it only on dry skin (i.e fresh out of the shower, no lotion) if you don't want the harsh notes to stay with you. If you blind bought this - also consider layering with floral scents in your collection like "Si" or Dior's "Absolutely Blooming".

I actually really like this one a lot! I didn't experience any of the negatives others have mentioned - just a creamy, sophisticated scent with a slight sweetness. My problem lies in that it goes to a skin scent in less than an hour - I have to put my nose up to my arm just to smell anything. The initial sprays are fantastic but it all but disappears in the dry down. I'm confused because before purchasing I read reviews mentioning what a performance beast it is. Maybe a bad/old bottle?

My wife and I tried this together. It smelled very different (and better) on her skin than mine. Mine I got amped up patchouli and mineral accord with a teakwood dry down. Decidedly more masculine on me. On her it was much softer, with a gentle beechwood and suede. She asked me how much a bottle costs which is a subtle hint she wants it. Unisex frag to my nose and a strong performer. I think I like this a little bit more than Beachhut Man. Overall for me 8/10 Performance 7.5

To me, this smells exactly like the name, like one of those palapas along a tropical beach selling souvenirs to tourists. Or a dive bar/cafe along a tropical beach. Or a private beach cabin. It conjures up some wonderful vacation memories for me. I definitely love this smell and cannot stop sniffing my inner elbow where I sprayed it; however, it is not a scent I would generally wear. I would really enjoy this on my husband though.

Judging by Fragrantica votes, this is one of the least popular Amouage fragrances for women. Purely from a marketing standpoint, this should have been a men's release, I get a strong, piercing mineral note with salty driftwood that smells incredibly masculine to me. There are a lot of men missing out on this fragrance, because it does smell quite nice, it's potent, it shoots through the air like a sea breeze.

With a name like that, Beach Hut, I expected vacation vibes. This is not it at all. I imagine cloudy windy day with lightly stormy ocean. A beach with a lot of driftwood. The little hut is old, and the roof is leaking. To me it is as gloomy as it is beautiful. Somewhat similar to El Passajero, but darker and not sweet at all.
