Beloved Man

Beloved Man opens with a grapefruit and black pepper spark, sharpened by soft resinous undertones that immediately set a warm, aromatic tone. The introduction is lively yet composed—spiced rather than sharp, elegant rather than aggressive. At its heart, the fragrance unfolds as a smooth aromatic–spicy composition, inviting and balanced, with a calm confidence that feels deliberately restrained. This is not the bombastic, room-filling Amouage many expect. The projection here is noticeably more measured: not a skin scent, but far from nuclear. It wears closer, more intimate, asking the wearer to lean in rather than announcing itself from across the room. Longevity, however, remains solid and dependable, anchoring the scent comfortably on skin for hours. The comparisons to Thameen Imperial Crown are easy to understand—there’s a shared elegance and polished resinous warmth that places Beloved Man in a similar refined territory. At times, it feels as though Amouage set out to craft their own interpretation of Terre d’Hermès; less mineral, more resinous, and filtered through the brand’s signature smoothness. The result may not be revolutionary, but it is quietly successful: tasteful, wearable, and understated in a way that feels intentional rather than compromised. Beloved Man doesn’t shout. It speaks softly and with very good manners.

The Guest review below was mine. It was a great experience to me when Christopher Chong, Creative Director of Amouage, presented Beloved Man at it's first global launch in Hong Kong to the attendees with simple words and strips of mouilette freshly sprayed with this fragrance. Within seconds, he suggested to the participants to have the fragrance sprayed on their skin as he hinted that fragrance could be a rather personal matter and it should be felt and experienced in person instead of following the boundary being put around it by others. On my skin, this fragrance had a very fresh and rather long opening of grapefruit and jasmine that was unique from many other Amouage fragrances that I had tried and/or owned. However, probably due to different skin/body chemistry, this fragrance opened quite differently on other participants. Consensus among the participants on Beloved Man were that this fragrance was rich and the notes were intense as the perfume volume of this EDP was 30% rather than the usual 20% in other Amouage EDP or lower in some other perfume brands. Without revealing too much about Beloved Man before more people can have the chances to personally experience this fragrance, I happily disclose that I am now a satisfied owner of this fragrance and look forward to wearing it more in the coming warmer seasons.

Great to see Amouage changing tack a little from bewilderingly complex fragrances with lots of spice and quite frankly odd juxtapositions. This is a little linear...One might almost dare to say a bit boring for them and their freshest outing to date. I like this sort of creative variation and use of different noses for each new release, it makes for an unpredictability and chaos which seems to be a brand theme. The opening of this fragrance is quite simply heavenly and taking the fruitiness to another level. The only thing I can compare it to is maybe something like millesime imperial, or Agua de Loewe EL for gorgeous fresh fruity vibes that are just devine. It has more depth than your normal fresh fragrance which you would expect from Amouage. Cedar wood and musk in the base highlighting the fruit with touches of saffron, spice and a little floral quality...it's lovely, lovely stuff. I remebered all that from one try so it definitely left a lasting impression on me. Now I'm not sure when this was released officially but It only just arrived the other week at Selfridges in time for winter when Beloved to me anyway is clearly more suited to the summer months...suppose that's not important. I look forward to trying it again...and maybe one day making it mine.

For my birthday i got a few testers of amouage and this was one of them. When i first sprayed it on a paper i did not know if i liked this one. The next day i sprayed it on my wrist and i found it a bit overwhelming in the beginning. but in a few minutes it turned in one of the best fragances i have ever smelled. My nose whent positivly nuts of the flowery musky and leathery smell folowed by the fruity smell that is a bit overwhelming in the beginning:). this is definitly a fragance you must try on your own skin. The next day i sprayed two times in my neck and that was enough.i felt good with it and gave me positive energy with a calming smell but please dont overspray this one or the whole room smells like it.for about 8 hours i could smell the fragfance myself and other people for longer got about 6 compliments that this fragance suits me well and people asked me wich fragance it was. This was the first time i have ever tried a exclusive fragance and i am gonna try more of them.i dont know yet if its worth the full price for a bottle cause i want to try it more but i am convinced that this is one signature worthy for me. Ps sorry for my bad writing :)

Beloved. A well deserved name, and it will always remains a beloved of mine. This one was my third Amouage after I started to get them. Sad that it looks like to be discontinued. At one point in time, and a while after I got it, it looked like everyone wanted to get it. Hence it became an expensive one among the other Amouages. Now, some people are downplaying it. I'm my opinion, without a real reason, and by comparing it, or describing it in way that makes me go and say: are we smelling the same thing? Also forgive my arroganse: where is you olfactory sanse? This one, together with Jubilation 25, are what I call, the romantic duo. Calming, balsamic, soft Aromatic in the dry down. Comparing Beloved to some designer perfumes is sacrilege since this has the Amouge signature all around it. I am not a guy who is looking after compliments, but this one gave me some unexpected ones. Why Amouage decided to discontinue it will remain a mistery for me. Beloved is in my opinion, a Jewel in the Amouage portafolio.

The more I use it, the more I love it!! :) Don't hate this because of the "lack of uniqueness" or simply because of the price tag! Yes, it is overpriced, as this is a limited edition! I don't say that this automatically validates the price tag , however I have to tell that whenever I smell an Amouage frag, I always feel like I would pay whatever price they ask for! Not because Im a fan of the house, but the quality, the creative process, the ingredients, etc. Everything speaks value here! I think they are one of the only houses with a clear concept what they want, and what they want to tell with their fragrances. No bullshit here. You get what you paid for. Period. This little pricy bastard meant to light up those moments in your life when you feel like you wanna remember forever for that moment. It could be a date, a girl, a man, whatever. It still can be an everyday scent, but I feel like in heaven wearing this every time I put on! This is true ART!!!

EN It's a mysterious perfume, which feels like no other and at the same time recalls the memories of many perfumes. Only after an hour or so you can "understand" its final notes and therefore useless to talk about an updated copy of "One Million". The most valuable thing is that every time sniffed manages to accentuate a different note (every time the only one!!!), slightly masking the others. For me it is a real magic of the perfume. IT Questo è un profumo misterioso, che non assomiglia a nessun altro e nello stesso momento richiama i ricordi di tanti profumi. Solo dopo un'ora circa si riesce a capire le sue note finali e, quindi, inutile parlare qui di una copia aggiornata di "One Million". La cosa più preziosa è che ogni volta annusato Beloved man riesce ad accentuare una (una sola!!!) nota diversa, leggermente mascherando le altre. Per me questa sia vera magia di un profumo artistico.

More of an observation than a review. This smells nothing like a $50 frag; it actually SMELLS expensive; which is just as well, because it really is very expensive. If you can point me to a $50 frag that smells just the same, I would be most interested to know which one it is. Now for the Jazz comparisons. Laughable. Nothing similar at all. I happen to own a full bottle of Beloved and full bottles of BOTH classic and La Collection Jazz. Am testing the Amouage and the YSL side by side right now. I cannot detect any similarity except in the most abstract and fanciful way. Again, if you are qualified to comment on this (that is, you own both, and can do a proper comparison) please let me know what the points of similarity are. Unfortunately Beloved makes my "beloved" Jazz smell cheap and inferior by comparison. And I am a huge fan of YSL Jazz.

Lacking in distinctive character, and that is one thing I look for in, nay, DEMAND from an Amouage fragrance. More like an ultra-high quality designer scent, very commercial. Nothing wrong with that, but I crave more, and need more, especially for this price tag. The dominant note I get is lemon, probably a combination of the grapefruit with the elemi resin. I don't feel the need to smell like this much lemon. Later in the development, more like lemon meringue pie ... UPDATE: Wore this today in warmer weather and found it to be a pleasant experience. However, Reflection Man does a similar job in the fresh-creamy-citrus-floral department and is cheaper and (probably) slightly better. UPDATE (2): Oh no. Wore this again today and I fear I'm falling in love with it. Gorgeous scent. I want a bottle. This Amouage habit is dangerous.

This is a scent for a strong, powerful and I'd dare to say dominant man. Definitely a man, not a boy. Somebody in their late thirties, forties, early fifties. A fragrance that exudes confidence and self assurance. Amouage Beloved is for a man who doesn't have to prove anything to anybody Because he simply knows he is great just the way he is. But this man has also softer, warmer side. I would be happy to surrender myself to a man like that. To give up my need to be in control all the time, and be a strong woman all the time, knowing,not in my head, and not even in my heart but deep, deep in my gut that I can trust that man and therefore become a woman who is comfortable when being taken care of. I am yet to meet such man. And then I'll buy for him Amouage Beloved :-)

A breathtakingly beautiful Floral Spice Oriental from the never disappointing Amouage, Beloved is a spellbinding mix of florals, resins and spices that has to be worn to be believed. The perfume starts off with a burst of elemi resin, cardamom, pepper and grapefruit. As it begins to dry on the skin a beautiful saffron note, highlighted by patchouli, jasmine and geranium is revealed. Then as it moves towards dry down, a woody leathery base combined with musk takes center stage. Moderate to strong in sillage /projection with tremendous longevity, this can be easily classified as a unisex fragrance. Not for very macho men, but more sensitive, artistic, and creative types. This is one I will never tire of. Beautifully haunting and breathtaking!

This is Devine!! Very rich, deep scent with extraordinary silage and moderate projection. Christopher Chong's background story always compliments the fragrance perfectly and this one is no exception. Very romantic scent with a sophisticated structure. I think it's still very unique even amongst the house other creations and so long lasting! I believe Amouage fragrances really worth the price tag. I never got disappointed with them. Beloved Man is a limited edition so no surprise that it even costs 50% more. Nobody should blind-buy this but if you tested and you fell in love with it like me i think it's really worth the price tag. I really don't exaggerate when I'm saying that this is one of the best perfume I've ever smelled!!!

Got my hands on a 10 ml decant of this sadly discontinued offering. My initial thoughts in the air was that this is Amouage does a blend of Grey Vetiver EDP and Terre d'Hermès with some add-ons. I was getting citrusy elemi, vetiver and orris mainly. Realistically speaking it opens up spicy alike Grey Vetiver but resinous elemi replaces pimento. Then it has more depth and noticeable powderiness coming from Orris root. On my second wear I notice the sweetness more and more as there is a lot of guaiac wood in the base, giving this creamy vanillic facet. It is essentially what I was smelling in the far dry down of my first wear. As for any Amouage, there are surprises every wear so I will be spending more time with it.

March 2021. Got the sample I ordered and I experienced for the very first time this happy and grateful opening, instantly providing in one of the best spontanious acts its richness of wonders equivelant to paradise. To me this is sofisticated. Very very good in my opinion. Not offending at all. Not loud. A nice fresh sexy floral blend down there in the vivid wrapping of light cheerfull velvet, perfectly in balance under the sky of the sunny freshness of the top notes and floating like an adored and beloved king seated on his throne on top of this superb creation of the magic of the base notes. It fits seamless. This castle as I have not experienced one before becomes a palace with the ball of dancing beauty.

Just fantastic. Well balanced in the sense that it has notes from many different genres and mixes them into something that is neither too light nor too heavy, not too sweet nor too dry etc. It makes it wearable for a long time without getting tired of it. It feels somewhat sweet and very friendly. The fruity notes combined with the cardamom and florals give me an impression of something a bit bubblegummy, but on an oriental base. It strikes me as a sweet floral, but maybe that's because it's so well mixed that no note in particular stands out. This is the one that should be called Sunshine Man. Wearing it on an overcast summer day, it feels out of place. It's extremely cheerful.

hmmm..a gentleman perfume for men, with burst of citrus smells, then woodsy pencil shaving smell of gucci homme( th eold one not the new one ) on skin it develop fast than on cloth, the one that i like is the drydown musky leathery oud smell... i have been waiting for amouage to come up with the rendition of classic barber smelling of the style of knize ten, habit rouge pour monsiuer and PDN New york etc...this is their rendition of it.. i love it, i may purchase it...i love the smell of gentleman with strong charisma...and a gentleman smell that is both in european and arab world.. it is worth every penny..in my opinion, got to start saving now

A bite of lemon cake—creamy, melting effortlessly on the tongue... Smoky resins jostle for space: Omani frankincense and Filipino elemi... Dry cedarwood and guaiac intertwine In perfect harmony with leather (isobutyl quinoline). My beloved from Amouage, A 2013 release, Now, sadly, discontinued. My paradoxical love— As dry as aged wood, yet as moist as cake. Smoky like burning incense, yet as serene as rich spices. Radiant like spring blossoms at dawn, yet as dark as a leather coat on a cold night. In its essence, it carries the legacy of its ancestors—Jubilation XXV and Ubar.

I know very well the amouage line. Beloved is an unicum among others. It has the same rich amouagey colors but it has an extreme easy going mood. All seansons creation. Perfect for the warm italian spring/summer. Opulent elemi is the cpmposition prince, light white flowers come after a bit. Really nice, easy, relaxing. I usual wear it in home after the shower for my personal plasure only. It's a private plasure, no louds at all. Poore projection and sillage but it's enought for home. Other choices for night and office. My private escape to comfort. 8/10

Oh my, is it a long lasting one! Sprayed once on my forearm and I can still feel it on the skin some 27 hours later. Just wow! The scent itself is pleasant and very summer-y, invokes the memories of sunshine and and warm breeze in a lazy afternoon. Also, I'm obliged to admit that the first moments (up to 15 minutes) does have a medicinal vibe which might be not for everyone's liking. Doesn't seem to be very radiating around - I consider it as an intimate perfume. Absolutely unique, there's nothing to compare, in my estimation.

This stuff is Stunning! Absolutely gorgeous...first time i sprayed it on i wasn't convinced this was any good.....second wearing i found out i was convinced this scent is one of the top scents of Amouage...(Lyric and Ciel are my other Favorites) I haven't spent enough time with it for a breakdown of the notes but you need to try this if you love Ciel or Lyric....not in the same vein but if you really dig those you are almost guaranteed to think Beloved is insanely good. I may edit this one as i spend more time with the scent.

Beloved Man feels natural in a way that very few modern perfumes can. It's sweet, but in an aromatic way. Clean without falling into generic shower-gel territory. Spicy without ever becoming overpowering. Resinous without turning funky. Citrusy without any harsh sourness. Everything is perfectly balanced. It almost feels like the blueprint for Honour Man. They share that same sweet, resinous, spicy DNA, but Beloved refines every part of it and, in my opinion, pulls it off even better. (Wearing this at time of review)

Imagine Kouros or Antaeus if they were made by Amouage. More refined and more wearable. That's this fragrance in a nutshell. A must have if you are a fan of 80's and 90's powerhouse scents. It's got an air of luxury to it that really makes the wearer come off as a wealthy corporate businessman type. Along with Beach Hut Man this is definitely one of my favorites from the house. This one along with Micailef DesirToxic and Arquiste El are like Neo 80s 90s powerhouse fragrances and I'm just loving them.

Beloved Man definitely smells familiar... like something my nose remembers from the late 80s or early 90s. It almost has a CHANEL kind of feel. And this is what I love about it. Not every niche fragrance needs to smell obnoxiously challenging. More important is smelling expensive (with good performance). Beloved Man is classy, clean, woody masculine, a little sweet, performs well, and projects moderately. Something that smells this good, and also delivers on performance, is worth the money to me.

This is one lovely perfume, its will fill the whole room with its smell if you slightly over apply it. its the sweatest and softest manly smell you ever can wear, deep mix and hard to describe, you cant describe it as spicy or woody, or even floral, its nicely mixed to a level where nothing truely dominate. my wife did like it alot, she kept complimenting this perfume the whole night like she never did smell a perfume before, am even considering getting a new bottle of this magic.

Amouage Beloved Man is such an amazing yet peculiar fragrance. In my opinion it’s the fougere of fougere fragrances. It somehow manages to merge the perfect barbershop fragrance and the perfect blue fragrance. It’s fresh, masculine and in my opinion Amouages best year round scent. Imagine Ingenious Ginger with a blue twist on it. Lasts a good while but isn’t too crazy on projection so overspraying is okay. Amouage NEEDS to bring this back, I already have a backup bottle.

I remember when I bought this 2 years ago, I was struggling with its performance. I used to spray it heavily to overcome the issue but it ends up consuming 1/3 of the bottle in few weeks. Despite of the average/weak performance, this smells luxurious I remember when I wear it and took Uber, the middle age driver told me that he’s into perfumes and what I’m wearing is something unique, beautiful & smells very expensive. Scent 9/10 Performance 5/10

It's like Bleu de Chanel but wifh the quality and opulence turned up from 10 to 1000. OK, now I'm a couple of hours in, I have to say it's much more than I thought. The jasmine really starts belting out in the dry down, and reminds you it's Amouage, baby. It bears strong DNA resemblance to Silver Man and Dia Man. Update: it is a shame that the dazzling opening is gone in seconds, I can see myself burning through loads just to keep smelling it.

I can see how the snobs can hate on this one. This is a very clean, citrus opening, spicy resins, fresh, woods scent done with maximum quality oils. It may seem like your average fresh pour homme, but man o man, does it have quality. It's not a unique scent profile, but it's easy to love, hard to hate sort of deal. 10/10 done well in my books. I would put this in the realm of amyris homme by MFK, but I prefer this one over Frankie's anyday.

I bought this in a hurry after I tried it on paper in muscat duty free. Now I remember why the salesperson sprayed 3 or 4 sprays on paper when I asked to try it, unlike reflection man; she sprayed once. The initial blast in beloved was way beyond beauty. When I tested it on hot weather I found it with no silage after 30 minutes, and became a skin sent, which is disappointing for the price I paid. I love the scent though.

This is a light fragrance that smells a bit like baby powder when applied but man o man have I receive so many compliments in just the two times I've worn it this far. It also lasts a while on my skin but does not seem to project that far. But with people within three feet of me asking me what I'm wearing after having applied 6 sprays 5 hours earlier, I may not be giving this fragrance it's due. My new signature.

Ginger heavy (accord of, it's likely the elemi, cardamom spice and citrus) but with fruit and floral mix in the opening, which must be the geranium. Right on the very edge of being feminine at first but it starts to go darker with its spices and wood in short time to take it more masculine. Has some reminders of 80's powerhouse fragrances as it dries down, kind of an old school warm oriental vibe done very well.

My sample just came in! I wasn’t expecting much but here are my first impressions: Aromatic and fougere done to perfection. Opens herbal and spicy, dries down creamy and green. The opening reminds me of tom fords beau de jour, the drydown reminds me of amouage reckless leather. This is fantastic, and hopefully not too expensive or hard to find! The only frag I’ve not spritzed from the Amouage 12-piece set. The timing on a cold evening is perfect. The opening is spicy and zesty with a luxurious dry down. The pepper, cardamom, woods and leather absolutely bang in this scent. What a fantastic concoction. Classy, elegant and mature. Nudges its way into my Amouage top 5 easily. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another one of AMOUAGE masterpiece , Very attractive and a crowd pleaser , Compliment getter and according to most women ; Its their most preferred AMOUAGE for men, But thats what they say about all AMOUAGE perfumes . The perfumer behind this is not Bernard Ellena but instead Alexandra Carlin. I was told this by Christopher Chong himself. Hopefully this information can be updated, as a lot of the reviews on blogs and other sites are listing Bernard Ellena as the perfumer, and presumably they are getting that misinformation from here.

Great floral-balm profile. Don't get a lot of herbs, but citrus in the opening. Saafron mixed great with the balms and herbs later in the dry-down. After 10 hours still deliciously sweet. Supernice, year round, but especially spring / fall. Wow. 92

Hands down my favorite amouage. I got a backup since apparently it's been discontinued. Damn shame. This could have used an extrait version Beloved 43 has a nice ring to it.

Those who have paid attention to my other Amouage reviews know that I tend to be critical of them when they step into Western hodgepodge perfume styles and play it safe. Like Daniel Day-Lewis deciding to do a primetime sitcom; no, it’s an incongruous waste of talent and I don’t want to see it. However, I am willing to admit when I get it wrong, and, happily, Beloved Man is here to prove it to me. Unlike the majority of reviewers here I get a masculine amber. But, I will concede that this discrepancy to many doesn’t mean that I think their assertion is invalid: it speaks to the part of Beloved Man that is the most “iffy”, that being it tries to be all things to all men. Sure there are fougere and/or chypre characteristics, but I get mostly woody amber. The opening is weird and interesting. Thanks to grapefruit and pepper, the resins and spices give off a strange acrid sulfuric and resinous quality that is, surprisingly, not harsh or off putting like you’d expect. It’s endearingly awkward. The spices and resins string down to greet a green floral and orris heart. The florals are restrained and cool in a typical masculine way, while the warm, woody, and earthy resins and spices give hints to the amber base that awaits. This next part is where it seems to generate a misfire for many because the woods in the base are a bit thin and grating. Patchouli and musk try desperately to round them out, which gives off an amber feeling in conjunction with those woods, but the green notes from the heart still have some life and accent an aromatic vetiver note - which leads some to either fougere or chypre interpretations. In the final skin scent, more than 12 hours later, it is more fougere-like in its character but it takes a long time to get there. Determining what Beloved Man is will be defined by how much weight you put on the time it spends on one character type. Since, for me, it spends so little time and energy on fougere characteristics, I call it an amber. Despite the iffy wood notes, which aren’t bad by the way, just unusually a-touch subpar for Amouage, Beloved Man sticks to name. It is loving, it is warm, it is friendly, and it is restrained, but it also has just enough quirkiness for that endearing quality that we find in our most beloved. When I want an “all things to all men” perfume but that smells, feels, and acts - generally speaking - like an Amouage, I reach for this because it does its directionless mishmash of masculine templates better than most. Shame I can rarely justify wearing it since it’s discontinued.
