Dia 40 Woman

This is the scent of like an opulent Qatari woman who spends her leisure browsing through luxury malls. Herself adorns in bronde beige flowy silken hijab much like the color of this bottle. She radiates a sort of radiance that I could describe someone like Angelina Jolie or Monica Bellucci leaving trails of this scent. An overall addictive fragrance it has a Chanel No 5 aldehyde feel but a totally different soapy note with tinges of white florals adding to its complexity. Very feminine very chic like mademoiselle had bottled herself which is justified for the price it’s unmistakably luxurious a true benchmark quality for high end niche fragrance My Verdict Smell : 9.5 ( The Most Textbook Luxurious Womanly Smell Bottle : 10 ( Regardless The Perfume I Would’ve Bought It Anyway Just For The Bottle Concept : 9.5 ( AMOUAGE Is never short coming with its story telling and fragrance lore Value : 7.5 ( Price is quite fair given its undoubtedly luxurious qualities I would argue that it’s one of the few niche houses that puts quality in the forefront of their designs A Safe Blind buy? If you’re kinda broke but want that opulent women aura it’s a definite yes. If you’re already wealthy and considering buying multiple bottles and turning it into a your signature scent so the Chanel No 5 girlies gets a whiff of what a true rich mommy smell like? Amouage went so far as to put “woman” on the packaging But I’m here to tell you, idgaf. This is a sweet, musky, soapy, floral, freshy, that I’ve sat on buying for months. I finally bought it, and still it sat in the box while I bathed in samples, and layering combinations. I’ve tried so hard to make sure I truly love it before I crack open the plastic. It can be harsh in the opening, which might scare some away. That super soapy opening; and I mean SOAP! But it dries down soft, sweet, fresh and floral. It just takes this very classy turn from soap bomb, to a plush bed of carnations and ylangylang. I know it says sandalwood, orris, guaiac and amyris are the base, but they really only play supporting roles to my nose. Something makes it a little spicy, but it’s such a velvety fresh floral after the dry down. As a few hours pass, it’s like you dabbed powder and and sandalwood with roses.. and all those aldahydes just fade away If you love soapy fresh, this is it. If you’re not a fan of soapy steer clear. If you can stand soapy and enjoy fresh, floral, and creamy clean scent, the dry down is for you. But for the price point, I wouldn’t experiment. $600usd after tax is a stretch to smell like SOAP. But for a “Woman” targeted soapy floral, I’m a dude, and I’m keeping it. It’s awesome and I’m glad I came across it.

Soapy, powdery aldehyde bomb. It feels simultaneously babylike and old ladyish, neither necessarily in a bad way. But for me, ultimately in a bad way. Babylike in that at first it reminds me of wetwipes or a warm bubble bath in J&J. Grandma like in that it's one of those old school powdery florals like the vintage guerlain or anais lines that pervasively wafted in the bingo halls in the 80s. At first, I thought she was a powerhouse, because 1 spray hit my nose hard, and this comes from a diehard perfume lover who doesn't mind if you smell me one block over. But for such a strong start, she disappeared unexpectedly within an hour, leaving only a vague floral version of a baby powder behind. If you love aldehydes like I do, you'll probably like this. Many of them disappear quickly (I adore lazy Sunday but constantly curse it's fleeting nature), and this is no exception. At the high price point, respraying will cost you like $10 a day. The original Dia is a lot better. Thankful to get to try and wear this through a travelling sample box from our fantastic community.

This smelled like straight up clean laundry/soap when I tried a sample. I was not a fan. However, it develops into a creamy, musky, clean scent which sweetens up in the mid notes and then gets woody as it wears out. There is also a rich body cream like whiff in the dry down. It is a all year round type of scent, however I feel it is more suited to the daytime. This perfume is for a modern, sophisticated, accomplished, rich woman in her late twenties to thirties. It has great performance and is one of the few scents I can smell on myself for hours in a lovely scent bubble. I normally run from "clean" scents as I often find them to be boring and linear - however this is simply stunning. It sparkles and leaves a gorgeous scent trail. I quickly bought a full sized bottle and I love it.

I own neither it nor the original, but I have tried the original several times, and today I have tried Dia 40 Woman. I like them both, but prefer Dia 40, and if I was going to buy either of them that would be my choice. This is very much a matter of my personal taste though. Dia 40 is a little more dusty/powdery/incensey/woody with a little less of the clear, sweet floral aspect of the original(peony perhaps?), and as someone who likes powder, incense and woods it appeals to me just that little bit more. The original is still lovely though. It should be noted, as others have mentioned, that they are both more in a classical perfume style than a modern one, which will attract some people and repel others.

Dia 40 completely stole my heart. It feels effortlessly elegant, soft and luminous without ever trying too hard. The composition is beautifully blended—nothing screams for attention, yet everything feels perfectly in place. It has that quiet luxury that makes you want to keep smelling your wrist throughout the day. To me, Dia 40 is comforting, refined and incredibly wearable. It doesn't overwhelm the room; instead, it creates a graceful aura around the wearer. This is the kind of fragrance that makes me feel calm, confident and feminine. Love at first wear. 🤎

Ok first of all people who comenting below by saying its a old school style strong fragrance either they don't own this fragrance or smelld it somewhere in malls or in fragrance shops never tried on skin This fragrance is one of the most beautiful clean fragrance with good projection and longevity, definitely smells expensive and people will notice you for sure perfectly unisex in my opinion obviously bit more feminine leaning but men can wear it easily as its clean fresh fragrance, 10/10

i smelled this in store and instantly fell in love with its expensive retired lady-boss clean laundry nature. it gives off this classy, elegant, sophisticated, put-together vibes. i just could not stand the high price point. it's SGD801! So i settled with Dia Woman and i'm still very happy. Maybe one day when i hit the lottery i will consider getting Dia 40. It's like the Black Birkin of perfumes. Simple everyday luxury. Love it!!!

The first spray was full of floral powdery scents. It's just like I put talcum powder over the body. But when it start to dry down a nostalgic moment came to my mind. It's scent of my mum's vintage wardrobe where she put few bottles of perfume between the clothes that was around 1980's. I love the dry down smells. Feels like very exclusive and luxurious life. Sure want to keep it inside my wardrobe to let the memory stay forever

Lives up to being a truly stronger, even purer form of the original, the aldehydes, florals , and musks all come together to create the ultimate luxury bath soap accord, very satisfying to wear and is simple but extremely elegant. Usually I don’t love the soapy powder white floral bombs that border on baby powder like in Gold which almost becomes Gold Bond but this is very well done not a total love but I can appreciate

Dia has long been one of my favorite scents as I love aldehydes. It is quite beautiful. Dia 40 is even better for all the same reasons and more. I love it a lot. The only problem is that all the things I love go away after about 30 minutes. She is super strong out of the gate, but then dies down quickly. I don't care, tho, I will wear her despite the longevity because she is just beautiful.

I love this scent. Long lasting, great projection. I get compliments every time I wear it. On my skin, it lasts 12-24 hours. The dry down is where this perfume shines with swirls of wood and flowers. One of my favs.

If you are looking for the best soapy vibe perfume, this is it, no doubt, don't over sprays this one otherwise you will choke out yourself, longevity is over 12 hrs with huge projection Dia 40 is 8.5/10

This is divine. I feel euphoric wearing this. It's a very airy clean perfume that makes me feel like I am floating on clouds next to a field of flowers. I just love it so much!

I had the old Extrait and would be interesting to see how this re-release compares. I am so looking forward to this!

This has similar facets in the background alike to Roja "Dhiaghilev" it's clean, floral, and very aldehydic.

Dia 40 Woman Amouage === EXTENSION 2 on February 6, 2025 === DIA40 has been on my shelf, I order my bottle 6 months ago and I do sniff the spray head for comfort overtime... I really like how tart-green sliver Tarragon highlight the flower. It is shooting. I notice lately that my bottle - the strong aldehydic property is starts to be calm down a lot. It there but much lumos. I now get the smooth ylang - ylang and sweet floral bouquet predominantly on creamy woody amber base. It's really called my name for new wear. DIA40 might be one of the scents that you shouldn't judge to soon. === EXTENSION 1 on December 10, 2024 === I have been wearing Dia40, 4 full wear already and I am really enjoy company of Dia40 during the day. it lacks opulent feel that normally present in Amouage release but this one offer gentleness and companion. Where do I like the most is the heart where floral show herself, carnation this time on the base of smooth talc cream. The far end of the scent, is something incensy but it white and twinkling. Very clean and calming, intact on your skin all day long. Frim like to love! === FIRST IMPRESSION === (blind-buy) When I receive my bottle of Dia 40, I open the cap. I sniff from spray head. "I feel, nope I am not gonna like that" I prepare to return my fragrance to the box. However, just a few minutes after, I know I want to test Dia 40. Something drawn me, I sit a few minutes more - reassurance, is my feeling true? Permitted, as I allow myself, I decided to spray Dia 40 on my arm. Dia 40 is good. I like this than original Dia. I think, I could be able to classified Gold Woman (Guy Robert), Dia Woman (Jean-Claude Ellena), Ciel Woman (Lucas Sieuzac). As realm of powdery scent of Amouage. All of them are too dry. which load of Aldehyde. Dia 40 is white and moist. I understand the fact that this load of aldehyde with wet powdery texture. Can remind texture of wet detergent powder when it is starting hitting water. What hide under high-load of aldehyde, is beautiful moist lucent powdery scent, creamy smooth. When sniff from certain range, it is a cloud of floral and smooth powder. It is not make up powder (Touche Finale, Jovoy) or Baby Powder (Chat Perché, Goutal). It is white powder but this, for a minute, make me think of Красная Москва (Red Moscow). Still, load of Aldehyde makes me slight uncomfortable, but not to the extreme. But I quite sure that she (Alexandra Carlin) takes risk to make wet powder with aldehyde. When it mellow out, cloud of moist powder lively and pure. It’s smooth, thanks.. Amyris. I like her spin off the most from Gold W, Dia W, Ciel W. This is fragrance for woman, I can say, I like Dia 40. (Ps. The far end slightly giving feel of Naziso Essense, but still creamy and moist.. It is still, keep me going.)

It is a nice, very feminine, floral - soapy and luxurious scent. More than anything, it smells of soap and maybe some expensive, old fashioned facial cream. It reminds (the feeling) me a bit of the new Acne Studios by Federic Mallet, only the latter is more dirty and modern while Dia 40 is more soapy, even a bit powdery classy floral. I find it nice, with solid performance, but for the price I would expect more. Also far on the dry down there is some scent that reminds me of faded inexpensive perfume - must be carnation and orris, and there is some piss like aftertaste the next day when the scent is still in your clothes. It is nice perfume overall, but I'm not sure of want to own a bottle, especially given the price.

Dia 40 is an ultra-clean scent with radiant aldehydes, a soft floral heart, and a powdery, soapy base. It opens fresh with just-out-of-the-shower energy, and a hint of lipstick-like sharpness. Elegant and long-lasting, it’s the cleanest of the clean. It’s impeccably crafted, though for me, more admirable than something I’d want to buy for myself. Edit: this has been growing on me (as have fragrances of this genre). Heinously expensive, but I’ve added it to my fantasy wish list.

Dia 40 is impeccably polished, ruthlessly refined, and not remotely interested in trends. It opens with crisp aldehydes, violet leaf and musk, with a distinctive vintage soap vibe, before melting into a spicy floral heart of rose, carnation and tarragon. The dry-down is powdery, woody, and velvety smooth, and the overall effect is ultra clean. Perfect for those who prefer their fragrances like their humour: dry and devastatingly elegant.

I am not a "clean" perfumes aficionado at all, but I love this. Both Dia and Dia 40 are beautiful. I have Dia on my right wrist, and Dia 40 on my left one. They are, of course, very similar, but Dia 40 is ever so slightly less soapy, more floral and very very subtly sweet. As always with Amouage, this is exceptionally well made, smells expensive (and it is). And what is unusual for Amouage is that it is actually work/office friendly.

Much more beautiful and compelling than Chanel No 5 or any of its flankers. Clean, elegant, no-nonsense aldehydic floral with a warm soft drydown. Powerful woman aura. Wildly overpriced but that’s Amouage for you.

This is a beautiful, clean, soapy scent. Very high quality for what it is. Performance is good, not wow.

Immaculately clean, ultra-soapy, and sparkling with aldehydes. The woman wearing this is composed, confident, stylish, and probably someone who gives the most comforting hugs. There’s something nostalgic here. I wouldn’t be surprised if many people have memories tied to a scent like this. Perhaps a face cream, a soap, or a beloved perfume worn by a mother, aunt, or grandmother. It’s not what I’d call an “old lady” scent, but it radiates a maternal warmth and grace that feels just a little more mature than where I’m at, personally, as someone in her mid twenties. Still, it’s absolutely beautiful. If you’re a fan of Chanel No. 5 or similar classic frags, this will likely thrill you. I'm going to enjoy my little decant at bed time, on the nights I treat myself to my bar of Chanel soap in the shower, and want to feel extra clean and luxurious.

When I first sprayed this on my skin, I really liked it, it smelled so clean and reminded me of Dove soap. I know, smelling like Dove soap isn’t exactly luxury vibes for the price, but hey, I didn’t mind. Fast forward three hours, though, and now it smells super strong, like flowers mixed with bug spray. I've washed my hands four times since applying it, and somehow it's still going strong, just as intense as when I first sprayed it!

Strong. Another one I had to wash off before the drydown because it was a cloud of powerful scent. A little bit sharp, but very classy. It reminds me very much of vintage 1980s powerhouses. If I remember correctly, this smells almost exactly like the OG Estee Lauder " Estee". It's not for me, partly because my mother wore Estee. But it's impressive. Worth the price? I don't think so.

To my nose Amouage Dia 40 is a more long lasting and deeper version (in the opening) of the original Dia. When I sprayed them side by side Dia 40 was a bit deeper for the first five minutes after which they became the same. Yes the lasting power on Dia 40 is a little bit better than the original Dia, but to me this does not warrant the need to purchase a full bottle of Dia 40.

Immediately upon spraying, all I could smell was Irish Spring soap. Very strong & clean, but unfortunately the notes listed aren't shining through for me. For such an esteemed brand, I'm also a little disappointed that the scent doesn't seem to develop or change over time at such a high price point. It's a pass for me!

I don't get much difference between the Dia 40 and the original Dia... both are very dense aldehydic fragrances. It's a style that is a bit dated, like EL Estee or YSL Rive Gauche if i remeber correctly. I love aldehydes but I'm afraid this is still a bit too heavy for me.

Points for stellar stamina. Dia 40 has an old school, floral and musk vibe, thanks, in large part to a healthy dose of aldehydes. If you like classic, vintage perfumery, I can imagine this would be your jam.

Alexandra took Tesori D’oriente Muscio Bianco, made it into an extrait that wont come off unless you chop your arms out and bottled it up.

Ok so.....I bought this blindly based on a YouTuber that I thought I shared similar taste in fragrances with. Ummm....no. As much as I like the airy fresh soapy old school mature type of vibe, this is a no go. It’s definitely an old school aldehyde. Nothing new like Byredo Blance or Mfk 724. It’s definitely the aldehyde in Chanel 5 but more intense. I don’t like when fragrances are classified as old lady because a scent is a scent but this could definitely be called an old lady scent. Blind buy fail. It’s vey old school heavy floral HEAVY old school aldehyde and honestly that’s all I smell. I prefer Chanel 5 over this and I loveeeeee the house of Amouge usually.

If you like the strong smell of floral soap, this is for you. Carnation, musk and other sour flowers dominate here, it's a fragrance that is old lady like, not mature not classic. It's the type of fragrance to wear when you don't feel like bathing, because it makes you smell like an old school early 80s, maybe late 70s scent. Just a drop and you will stink up the entire room. I started adding it to my bath, just to use it up. It smells better once I spray it into the water.

On this Mimosa brunch/ afternoon I tried to breeze by the counter, Smiling, I get stopped by the sweetest guy..lol! Hmmm, after chatting and spritzing many times, and more Champagne, I bought Dia Woman..right at $400. 💸..so upset for spending that much, when I can get it for less , somewhere, anywhere? In all fairness, Neimans usually have a gwp, or gifts you in deluxe samples. so there’s that. Opening , as I get into the car, upset💸 but mutually overjoyed ..Oooohhh Noooo this wasn’t right, APPARENTLY I’ve been loving Dia 40! That was even the initial spray that started the zinging of my card thru the machine.I kept looking at this the bottle, it was different and lighter juice, no real scent trail, scent faded too. Thinking I told him I couldn’t get the $500 bottle so he rang up the $400 bottle, maybe a smaller size, a 1.7 . After Days of freaking out, I had to return this, but I opened it..even used a few sprays trying to fall in love again. As I was returning her to the Luxurious counter, there he was, the sweet guy..I wanted to be anonymous, But No, he remembered me. My bestie standing by my side..I explained I have the wrong one.,this is different, not the one I had tried for so many months. Oh and Explained my Mimosa Day. And So it happened I paid another $100+ My bestie wholeheartedly agreeing It’s worth it..So I have Her Dia 40.!!! 🎉🎊✨ She’s at the top of my collection wall with sisters, Guidance, Lineage, & Lilac Love. Wearing Dia 40 feels like nothing else I own, she’s been formulated by the best perfumers, will always be in my collection Your lovely whimsical words describing her are so deserving.

I do not really believe that there is a specific gender for perfumes, these for men and those for women 😎...I believe that i should wear what I really love & feel... Will describe Dia 40 as a classy opulent creation, if a woman wears it, she will be very well dressed, classy elegant and extremely attractive....😍 If a man wears it, he will be an elegant star among the others... This is a floral chypre type, which starts as soapy fresh powdery ( which is the effect of violet leaves with the iris ) with very minimal fruity undertones, there is minimal iris at the start which progressively increases over time... the florals here are covered totally by the powdery musky vibe, the soapy vibe disappears after sometime & replaced by powdery woody dry down... So I have some chypre experience, I'm definitely not a hardcore "vintage Guerlain or die" type of guy but I've been around for a year (or 3). Just like the original Dia Woman; Dia 40 is clean, soapy, aldehydic. I struggle to spot any rose in this (didn't notice any in the original either). The accords at the top mislead since this scent has no fruitiness - this is a standard age-old chypre. I get mild orris in the opening, giving it some spicy flair that the original didn't have. I also notice the woody tones, specifically the gaiac, in the base as it dries, so it kind-of smells like a slightly smoky chypre on skin. Outside of that, my nose cannot separate any other discrepancies. Relative to the amount of changes from J25 to J40, DiaW to Dia40 has a lot fewer changes. Performance is quite poor - it latches onto skin and has minimal sillage, likely due to the concentration. The scent lacks complexity - it overall feels very simple and doesn't do much (again, I have these same impressions of Dia Woman). I'm not saying it's bad, but again, I'm not a "vintage Guerlain or die" type of guy and as such, this is not for me.

It's exactly as described, it's a floral aldehyde fragrance and very feminine. Top note is very aldehydic, almost detergent feeling. It's very floral and the rose and orange blossom are more prominent notes. These floral notes are sitting on a musky and powdery base. Orris root and sandalwood give it rounded soft edges, so the floral scent is not sharp but rather rounded. I've tried several new Amouage fragrances and neither caught my attention. It seems that the only creativity of the current creative director of Amouage is to make fragrances stronger, and heavier with higher concentration, as this is a trend in the industry. A fragrance has a common standard of a trend in the market, heavy, long-lasting, high price tag to give you a sense of luxury, but nothing special. More suitable for old ladies 7/10

I vastly prefer the original Dia. This updated version is sharper and sweeter, a nod to contemporary taste, where most female consumers tend to go for super-clean fragrances or sugar bombs. Well, Dia 40 is a combination of both these trends, but it doesn't make it better, because it seems less balanced - as if the enchanting floral-woody elements of the original Dia have been sacrificed to make way for this piercing, almost aggressive cleanliness and soapiness. Obviously, this is my entirely subjective impression; perhaps I would need more time to get used to this updated version, but I don't think it is worth the effort. P.S. Projection and longevity are insane, so be careful with the trigger!

Clean, clean, and clean. Soapy, not fizzy and sparkly like I would expect from aldehydes. It’s more like it sticks to the skin, no sillage due to the high oil concentration. It’s not cloying, it’s pleasant. In the base, when it dries down, I smell flowers, ylang-ylang gives a bit of sweetness. Pleasant, everyday, subtle scent, not too complex in my opinion. It would be interesting to see how Ellena would make an extrait, but then, he's the master of watercolour. A nice perfume, but it doesn’t knock me out. Rating 4/5. Not FBW for me, not at that price, I can smell like soap for much less money. Tested from official Amouage sample.

I’ve tested it on my skin several times. It smells extra-old-fashioned, dusty and musty. The standard Dia from the new releases is much better, even though it’s nowhere near as good as the first batch of Dia. I love vintage fragrances and aldehydes. And I love the first edition of the original Dia - it was luxurious, complex, elegant. But this one just smell like expired oldschool perfume. It's a scent you can only tolerate if it's the scent of your beloved grandmother.

I mean, it’s fine... but I don’t think you really need to spend this kind of money to get a scent that smells like this. To me it’s just the standard mature-ish powdery floral aldehyde that you’ve probably smelled 100 times before. Pleasant as it is, it doesn’t really do anything new or unusual to my nose that would justify the asking price above any number of similar cheaper scents (didn’t personally find the performance to be anything remarkable either). 🤷🏻

I used to wear this in the 90s when I was in high school. Back then it was called Impulse Magic Muskus. Yes. That one. I don’t remember notes, perfumers, or accords. I remember spraying it before school and thinking I was doing something. And apparently... I was, because smelling this now unlocked everything immediately. Is it sophisticated? No. Is it modern? Absolutely not. Is it accurate to my teenage years? Painfully yes. I said what I said.

this is such a good creation for people who wants a reference to the classic perfumery style without the sharpness or assertiveness of it. It’s very rounded, soft, versatile, non-offensive in all environments, i simple love it. Got lucky to get a full bottle of Dia 40 at the price of Dia, but would not mind paying the full price. Absolute signature if you like this style

Floral as it should be judging from the notes. The smell seems to be a lot more enticing in the air. This is like lyric man had a baby with zoologist dragonfly as strange as that sounds. I think this will be appreciated by the ladies. So yeah...floral, freshness and almost bubblebath quality imo
