Epic 56 Woman

The perfume certainly lives up to its name. Wow. This is a spicy rose perfume of epic proportions. The original EdP was already gorgeous, but this retooling and increased concentration to a ridiculous 56% have taken Epic Woman to whole other plane of excellence. The opening signals intent and difference to the EdP with a stronger swell of pink peppercorns. Nose tingling and spicy, incredibly bright, and waxy fruity. As with the EdP the cumin is very muted, if there actually is any – no body odor or sweaty funk is present, but there is a bit of musty woodiness lying underneath the peppercorn onslaught. The same can be said for the cinnamon in that the baking spice aromatics are very muted but the woody side of cinnamon is present. You’ll forget about the opening quite quickly though once the heart layer of Epic 56 hits you. The rose accord is stunning. Pink and luscious, gently fruity, vividly saturated and fleshy, properly floral and a touch earthy – it’s actually hard to imagine that a real centifolia rose could smell this good. It seems impossible... because it is. A hefty dose of smooth geranium is thrown in to give the rose some green and bitter lemon edges. Abyssal depth is added with Amouage’s incomparable frankincense that is as smooth as silk, and some dark and slightly dank guaiac wood playing upwards from the base. The effects of this expansive breadth of the rose and the limitless depth from the incense and woods are such that Epic 56 smells enormous, like it is pushing the limits of what our simple little human noses can detect in both note and texture. Every time I raise my arms to my nose for another big hit of this illicit substance, which I seem to be doing every couple minutes or so for hours on end, I fully lose track of anything else that I had in my mind because I helplessly go searching for something I’m missing – not believing that it is possible that I am smelling everything Epic 56 has on offer. This means that by the end of the day I am exhausted because the perfume has not let up at any point – and, at 56% concentration, be prepared to still smell it quite clearly going into the next day. At some point, many, many hours into wearing Epic 56 will you arrive at the dry down of a beautiful floral amber. Orris carries on the duties from the rose, adding a somewhat oily yet powdery floral aroma, while creamy sandalwood, a gentle vanilla, thick gray musks, resinous incense, and an earthy and peppery patchouli deliver a modern and very luxurious interpretation of the classic floral Oriental amber base that we’ve had for generations. Though standard and typical in structure, the top-tier materials and expert handling by Zarokian makes sure that it will not smell derivative to your nose. It is almost intimidatingly elegant and energetic. I had a hard time imagining that Epic Woman could get much better when Amouage announced they were going to release 56, but lo and behold they did it, and gave us one of my favorite Amouage perfumes to date. But to a point I made earlier, I am writing this review more than fourteen hours into my fifth time wearing it, and it’s still going strong; I’m exhausted by this epic of Homeric proportions, but I am thrilled by it and hold no regrets. That might be Epic 56’s only drawback, that its power is a bit too epic. But, even if that is the case for you when you wear it, it will simply amount to Epic 56 being more unforgettable than it already is.

Very strong opening but shortly develops into a smooth classy fragrance that stays with you all day. I don't know what the original smells like but I can tell you that Epic 56 is not like anything I've experienced before. Longevity is 10+ hours but if I am looking at MFK oud satin mood EDP, I can smell that the next morning on my skin. When the fragrance is fully developed you can smell a spicy, amber, floral mix that is unique and elegant. Towards the end life of the fragrance on my skin, I was able to smell more of the florals and ambers but less of the spice and this could differ from person to person. I also wouldn't spray this directly on clothing, because of the high oil concentration. On application, I could see the oil sheen on my skin for a few hours and that would transfer to clothing if sprayed there. Definitely a unisex fragrance but also a daring fragrance in the sense that its unique and challenges your senses. It doesn't have a generic profile that you've smelled before so it will take you for a unique ride. Its inspiring and in a true Amouage fashion, well made and elegantly packaged. The package is velvet lined and a pleasure to open. You can tell this is a unique fragrance from the moment you hold the bottle. I also know this goes for the rest of the exceptional extraits line. The only draw back is the price, oh my lord, the price! However if you love fragrances the way I do and appreciate good craftsmanship, I can maybe tolerate the price a bit more. But again, not everyone can afford a luxury like this. Lets not forget to mention that Amouage is the only perfume house who is daring to release perfumes of concentrations never seen before in the perfume world. That in itself demands attention and respect. I hope other niche houses like Dior Prive or MFK take notes and learn from Amouage, instead of giving us reformulations or discontinuations of much loved perfumes.

Epic 56 is my first female-marketed Amouage, though I think it's entirely unisex. To my nose, this is principally a wonderful rose / frankincense scent, though there's a lot going on here, as the note breakdown suggests. The jasmine tea and cumin play especially interesting roles (the latter in a fairly unobtrusive way, for those wary of cumin). As one expects from Amouage and Zarokian, Epic 56 is very well blended...and as is typical of the house it is opulent and expensive-smelling. That being said, compared to a number of other Amouages I have (e.g. Interlude Black Iris, Opus VI, Overture Man, and Royal Tobacco, all of which I love), it's more versatile and wearable, though its definitely a cold-weather fragrance. I haven't tried the original Epic Woman, so I can't compare this to it. But like most high-concentration fragrances, this is very long-lasting, but moderate in projection. Finally, I have to note the gorgeous packaging. I normally don't care much about this, but Epic 56 stands out even among Amouage's generally attractive bottles. I probably wouldn't pay retail for this, but if you can find it for a good price on a trustworthy discount site, as I did, it's definitely worth having in your collection.

I was expecting this to be a full on rose oud, but this is actually a woody-dusty-vanilla... The opening is a bitter punch of pepper and cumin, but fortunately it settles in nicely once the rose and jasmine tea emerge after an hour or so. The dry down smells like the inside pages of a sweet old book which sounds unpleasant but it actually works surprisingly well. There's an undeniable sensuality to the blend that makes you crave to wear this. If I had to reduce it down to words, I would describe it as paper touching bare skin. I sprayed to test on my hand, and I could still smell it through several hand washes throughout the afternoon. I am surprised none of the reviews mention Diptyque Eau Duelle or Arquiste Achitect's club. They are all on the same vein of the dusty-woody-aged vanilla, and share 70% similarity note wise... just add a touch of florals and you'll have Amouage Epic 56 Woman. I honestly find Epic 56 to be more wearable than Amouge's othering offerings with the woody/vanillic dry down- particularly on a cool fall day. Though titled as a women's fragrance, this would be just as alluring on a gentleman.

Oh oui, très gorgeous! I ordered a 3 ml along with a bunch of other Guerlain L'art et la Matière, this rose by far at the top of this trial. I fell hard for the opening, a shiny pink pepper and a deep green fresh spiciness that feels so elevated. Cumin stays very shy, at least on me. You can feel oiliness on the skin, almost like a rare ointment, and it radiates in a gentle yet very present way. After a little while the rose announces itself along with a powdery texture and a sheer patchouli. It is rich yet luminous, and not heavy even though the notes could evoke something a bit much, it is not. All of this pleasant drama leading to a resinous slightly sirupy base, feeling the woods and musks that are dancing in the background, a bit hoter and never screechy. The next day I still catch it in my hair and I dont want it to go. This is in its own league. I totally see a man or a woman's wearing this, totally unisex. If you are into darker rose, patchouli and spicy woods, please do check it out, stunning.

100% unisex this isn't feminine not 1 bit! I can see how the opening might deter people because there's a sharp Geranium/cumin/cinnamon almost vinegary smell. Give it 10 minutes and it starts to dry down beautifully and completely transitions. After 10-15 minutes I can smell the Rose/iris and Olibanum and that geranium mentholated vibe really calms down. I smell cedar but it's not listed I guess it's the Guaiac wood but not sure. In an hour when totally settled the sandalwood and Patchouli are gorgeous for sure. The whole fragrance just smells incredibly well blended and I think more people mainly men should give this a chance even though it's marketed for women. That is a joke in my opinion there's absolutely nothing feminine here. My only gripe is price and I can't support $500 for this. I think $300 would be way more appealing and more people would want to give it a shot. This definitely deserves a better rating. This smells expensive, no doubt about it.

After reading/watching a handful of reviews I decided to get my hands on Epic 56 because I believed it was a unisex fragrance. I'm so glad I did, because this is a true masterpiece without any exaggeration. I starts well spicey with striking peppery vibrations and beautiful rose essence. The peppery facet will slowly fade out and the high class woods step in, amber, patchouli, other floral elements begins to step forward and surrounds you with surprising bliss. Longevity is on the absolute top. On my skin it lasted for more than 18 hours including a shower. My description in five words: - Exceptional - Impressing - Velvet-Soft - Powerful - Lovely Epic 56 is a gem for any man and woman !!! Scent: 9.5/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10 Price: 4/10 Overall: 9.5/10

I like the og Epic Woman but the cumin was way too persistent for my liking. This one is much, much better. It still has that pepper and cumin blast at the opening but at a level i can get behind, then it fades away into an incredibly luscious, dense red rose. Grown and opulent, rich but never too heavy. The rose here is very natural, there's a tinge of green and its velvety sweetness resembles the heart of the real flower itself. Unwavering projection and longevity, the oil concentration is insane, my wrist is still shiny and it's been hours. I can see myself wearing this daily but i need to spray it on at least 30 minutes before heading out. As much as i enjoy it, the cumin is not exactly crowd-pleasing.

2004, French Polynesia. A beautiful woman, adorned in a gown of green velvet and with splendid black silk hair, leans out on the balcony and gazes at the sea. A warm breeze enters the room, carrying the scent of burnt woods from the beach. The bed is untidy, and her jewelry rests upon an exquisite mahogany cabinet. I look at her, she looks at me, her dark eyes convey intensity, and her blood-red lips exude carnal desire. The fire on the beach has now extinguished, and wafts of white ash drift in... I kiss her on the neck and look at the sea behind her. Elegance, refinement, opulence to the highest degree. I cannot cease to inhale it. A spectacular fragrance, undoubtedly Cecile's finest creation.

STUN. NING. I had a sample of this and fell in love and ordered a bottle of the EDP by mistake. Now I'm trying to decide which I like better. They're both beautiful. The EDP reminds me a bit of L'Air du Desert Marocain in its dry spiciness. The extrait, as the reviewer below says, smells like it's been aged...it's deeper and more resinous. Alas, I can't afford both so I suppose I'll stick with the EDP and perhaps get a decant of the extrait. UPDATE: I did a side by side test and am surprised to find that I EVER-so-slightly prefer the EDP (which is great given the price differential) but they are both gorgeous.

Forget the "woman" attached to this fragrance's name, this is unisex just like the OG Epic Woman. Epic 56 isn't just one of the best in the "women's" line, or the Exceptional Extrait line. It's one of the best Amouage fragrances full stop. This is a stunning spicy floral oriental that is dense, rich, and complex. The tea note that shows it's face after about an hour is one of the best tea notes I've come across. The general feeling this fragrance gives is smoooooooooth. Just so smooth and well blended. Spicy opening, smooth floral / tea, dense and robust base.

Not what I was expecting at all, but this thing is a beauty. Opens with lots of pink pepper and cumin. It’s Christmasy and dry, spicy and woody. The gaiac wood is pretty prominent here. After about 30 minutes, the perfume begins to unfold (takes a while because of the crazyyyy high oil concentration) and a slightly sweet and jammy rose emerges. After another 30 minutes, a very pickle-like sandalwood emerges, and the Oud begins to shine. Super interesting and much darker than I thought it would be. I need it

have an official decant of this. Amouage makes some of the best decant cases in my opinion. Only reason I'm lowkey keeping this fragrance. Have mixed reviews about this from many different people i know hence the rating in the end. top notes: spicy, minty, tea tree oil? middle notes: white floral, powder, green, tea tree oil top notes: oud very well blended, dry down is very nice incredible performance!!!! great fragrance overall and is very unique. Not the most wearable but overall id say its 8.5-9/10.

Epic starts off with a bunch of pepper, caraway, and sharp frankincense. Very Amouage. Then, a beautiful green rose blooms with some geranium, cinnamon, clear woodiness, and sweet aldehydic freshness nearby. Quite spicy, modern, and translucent at this point. After a while, a buttery combination of iris, vanillin, white florals, and musk smooth out all the rough edges before we are left with a dusty, woody, powdery, dry, soapy rose. Very beautiful, soft, and elegant. Superb!

This scent, at first, smells strongly of woods, spice and oud. Dry down reveals the floral component and that’s the wow factor for me. This is absolutely my favorite in my collection at the moment. Beware, this is very strong and will last a very long time; oftentimes 24 hours. I can smell it a day later even after I’ve showered. Love, love. If you like resinous, oudy, woody rose, with peppery spice and incense, this is for you. Nothing else like this perfume out there.

Definitely in my top 3 rose/oud scents. I also like the original Epic but this version is extra special and a little more smooth and balanced to my nose. The jasmine tea, spices, and incense creates the most intoxicating and alluring blend. I can't get enough, highly recommend for rose/oud lovers. I think it leans a touch feminine but I believe men can wear this as well.

A very serious rose contrasted with a woody, dusty vanilla. It’s absolutely stunning and mysterious. The sillage turns heads. However, I much prefer the EDP version as the notes open up a little more on your skin. This version is more dense and intense making it sit closer to your skin, so it doesn’t really leave as pretty of a scent trail as the EDP.

Sublime. The opening hits hard with that cumin, but the drydown is really where it's at. The blend of rose and olibanum is magically sweet and intoxicating. Lasts forever, into the next day. It smells like the original Epic Woman, but I think the drydown feels sweeter and headier to me, less of that spicy cumin. I enjoy both. Heavenly scent.

I love this fragrance. A lot. I’m debating a full bottle, but it certainly reminds me of Tom Ford Cafe Rose, which I love as well. I’ll have to compare the two, but the transition of notes is amazing. The cumin adds character here, and it’s not overwhelming or BO smelling. This is perfectly unisex as a man, as well.

An amazing fragrance, though certainly not for everyone. I also struggle to imagine a younger person pulling this one off convincingly. It's a must-have for your timeless collection, but if you're considering a purchase - I'd recommend trying the regular Amouage Epic Woman first. 9/10

I love it so oily and long-lasting totally worth it. On eBay, you can get it for 260 as opposed to 500 in Newmn Marcus same thing, exquisite and authentic. I have oil from Dubai -same thing I can tell. Very unique with prominent spices and AMBER. no amber-no talk lol

This is THE ONE for me. Love from the first sniff, although with every sniff more in love. Sharp opening, cumin, pepper and paint but after 30 minutes I get roses in a coniferous forest. Very emotional, fine fragrance, like the finest silk.

I recently got a sample of Rose Aqor and have realized that the dry down of Epic 56 is almost identical to Rose Aqor, it just takes til the dry down to get there. 56 takes you on a wonderful journey, amazing evolution of the scent.

This is insane. Le Labo rose 31 + POAL at the opening and my rose oud attar underneath, and much much stronger. One spray is enough to fill the room and it keeps going. The oud is nicely done no feces smell noticeable.

This perfume is seriously captivating! The rose is definitely the star, but it's not a sugary rose, it's rich and complex with a hint of spice from the cumin and cinnamon. It lasts forever too, which I love.

This one is smell like the OG, but the performance is much much better, spicy rose, green and a little bit sweetness, gentleman also can pull this off, amazing and expensive scent trail Epic 56 is 9.5/10

Very well crafted, smooth fragrance. Rose & Cumin reminds vaguely of African Rose but this is heavier. Unisex fragrance. Drydown is excellent and its where this fragrance truly shines. .

Beautiful sweet warm fragrance. I get the rose predominantly. Slight herbalish or green tinge, slight smoke and spice. Classy quality fragrance.

This is 10/10. My friends call this the "CEO" fragrance since it smells so serious and expensive. Completely unisex as well!

This is one of the best perfumes ever made

A desert as vast as Samsara. This tune from the East is desolate and sad. A bass sounded, and the excitement and coolness of pepper, amber and tea penetrated into my heart, and the epic was as good as ever, which made me sigh. It is now more magnificent, and the eyes are no longer charming. My sense of smell has also really changed, and I hated it very much at the time. There are high castles in the yellow sand, and roses made of sand bloom in the barren sand, independent from the world and not afraid of the wind. Not sure which rose oil it is, I think it might be Damascus, Geranium and pink pepper support. The epic returns with a new look, awakening a bleak and dark color in my memory. I can't afford this price. But epic is my friend's favorite. Now I'm wondering if I need to increase the epic concentration and put out a whole new version, just on this part, I don't think it's necessary. It's not a bad thing to have other options, but only for those who can afford it without hesitation.

Giving this an 8/10 - I got the original and this one to compare which I preferred. For me, I prefer the original to this one. The original plays with the balance between that darker/heavier notes and the lighter/delicate notes better, there’s more of a balance that is intriguing and it leans more feminine than this one. This one puts the rose and the darker/heavier notes on full blast which I think drowns out the subtleties of the original. This is slightly more masculine/unisex than Epic Woman. This could definitely work for some people who want that but I personally like Epic Woman more than this. Still a beautiful fragrance though.

Lovely woody aromatic showcasing a nice Omani frankincense. The scent opens with spicy notes of pink pepper, cinnamon and cumin. The heart is mostly tea with some rose, orris and geranium. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of frankincense and patchouli, surrounded by woody notes (sandalwood, oud and guaiac), vanilla and synthetic musk. The unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. A must try for incense lovers. Enjoy!

I recently got hold of regular Epic W and loved it so had to try a sample of this. Also superb, it's stronger here but is essentially exactly the same fragrance I don't feel this changes the feel from the original much like some of the other numbered versions do. If you don't already have Epic W and don't mind the much larger cost this is the one to get, but otherwise there is probably no need to upgrade.

Much softer than the original. Much more "daytime" ironically, as it's more expensive. Orris and jasmine heady. I am trying it in summer, I think it will be better in the cold. I love the original in the heat.

Much more indulgent and blissful than the original Epic Woman. It’s like if Epic was very gently layered with Incense Rose. It’s a buttery, musky, woody, geranium-type-of-rose beauty. A 56% oily joy.

Warm, spicy comforting cedary herbal. It's giving spa or apothecary. I think it's unisex but would be much more attractive on a man.

A man could absolutely wear this with ease; in fact, I think it would be too heavy for a woman. I have a weakness for rose-centered fragrances that are suitable for men, so I was eager to try this one. Unfortunately, it didn’t develop the way I had hoped. For the first 3–4 hours after spraying, I got a strong blast of very dry, harsh spices. Later, it started to remind me of a lighter version of Interlude Man. It’s not a bad fragrance. It’s bold and spicy, and once it finally dries down completely and settles close to the skin, it becomes slightly sweeter, with a more wearable and pleasant blend of rose, amber, and spices—but that happens far too late. :( For those who find this one too harsh, I’d recommend checking out Nishane Favonius. It’s in a similar territory and is my favorite in this style.

The original Epic Woman was strong enough for the DNA. I did not like it but I can understand how someone could pull it off. In comparison this one is very overbearing and comes out very cheap smelling. I really love beastly Amouage fragrances but this is just too obnoxious. I couldn’t understand why would anyone buy this over the original Epic Woman. The original Epic Women had that special tea note that is very cozy while this one makes you feel like you are in a spice bazar.

Super dry, pepper is very dominant in the opening. I imagine someone having a herbal black tea in the desert, with a bouquet of roses nearby left to dry

It was released in 2021; and the noses behind this fragrance are Cécile Zarokian, Daniel Maurel and Angéline Leporini. With an exceptional concentration of 56% perfume oil, Epic 56 Woman revisits the legends of the Silk Road. A sublime union of extreme concentration and prolonged aging. This aromatic composition has an explosive spicy opening seasoned by pepper with a tasty cinnamon and especially by the animalic aromatic heat of the cumin highlighted, but in perfect balance, it did not cause me any discomfort. Rather, it goes back to the pungent spice trade of ancient times that departed from China. This warm output is cooled by the delicious freshness of the subtle aroma of a floral tea. The steaming aromatic incense gives the composition an unmistakable arabesque tone. Amouge should have launched only as Epic 56 in its standard men's bottle; It would have been a huge success. At first (and on paper the whole time), it’s a lovely rose, fresh, a little sweet, spicy, has a bit of herbal green note, but on the skin, after a while, that bo scent comes out. It must be cumin. I’m starting to think that Amouage just doesn’t work on my skin. It’s not as overwhelmingly heavy as some other Amouages I’ve tried, it’s actually okay in the air and even reminds me a little of Rose Incense, but when I press my nose to my skin... ugh. :/ Not happy with it. It’s possible that I’m a bit tired of all these heavy scents I wore for the past three months and I’m ready for spring, because I’m leaning more towards lighter and fresher perfumes at the moment. I’ll give it another chance in a few months, but today it’s a NO. Not FBW. Rating 3/5. Tested from official Amouage sample.
