Fate Man

"MAKING FRIENDS WITH FATE" I entirely disagree with some of the views expressed below, that Fate for Men is somehow a more "mainstream" Amouage, a glorified designer fragrance made with better materials. I submit this is the most challenging Amouage that exists, at least for the Western nose. I contend that it would be offensive to most mainstream Western fragrance sensibilities. I imagine the reaction of most westerners sampling this fragrance would be like my first response: "you have GOT to be kidding me?!" I believe this is a more challenging fragrance than Interlude Man, by far. Whereas Interlude has several challenging aspects, it also possesses an equal number of pleasing elements that draw you in. It's a combination of attraction and repulsion that is quite addictive. Fate for Men, however, at least for the first hour or two, is not interested in attracting or pleasing the wearer at all. It is utterly intimidating, challenging, and uncompromising. The unconditional nature of the fragrance is like Fate itself: something that you do not choose, that overwhelms you and forces you to submit to it, contrary to your own will. My analysis of this fragrance picks up three distinct phases: The first I call "Torture by Spices": a vicious assault of sharp, biting, Indian spices that is disorientating and distressing to the wearer. Until these settle down, this is not an easy experience at all. But it IS interesting. For me this phase lasts about an hour. The second phase I call "Desert Journey": where the fragrance turns so parched, arid, and dusty it almost boggles belief - like walking through a spiced sandstorm in the desert. On my skin this lasts 2-3 hours. The third, "Sunset" phase, conjures up images of a long, beautiful, desert sunset turning into dusk. It is the most beautiful drydown imaginable. And incredibly sexy in a very unique and intriguing way ... like love-making in the dunes of the desert as the sun goes down and the purple-black sky fills with stars, far from civilisation...ahhhh So if you can survive the endurance test of the Torture by Spices, and the long harsh Desert Journey, there is a reward that lies ahead for you - you just have to have faith and belief and trust ... in Fate. :)

Do you believe in fate? I purchased a 12x2ml men’s sampler set directly from Amouage. It contained some of their top sellers such as Reflection Man and Interlude Man as well as their latest release at the time Portrayal Man and the discontinued Ciel Man. After trying all twelve fragrances on paper strips and then on skin, the one scent to stand out was not the famous “Blue Beast” Interlude Man or the metrosexual flamboyancy of Reflection Man but indeed by an unexpected underdog - Fate Man. The clearly controversial men’s fragrance captured my attention with its unique, dry and unusual “gourmand” qualities. Fate Man makes it immediately clear what it is about, exploding with the sorts of aromatics you would expect to find in a kitchen of the orient. The exceptionally dry (prepare yourself a glass of water) and undeniably spicy scent teems with cumin (and lots of it), saffron and incense. Building itself a big pot full of culinary spices, whilst burning a stick of incense. As it dries down, liquorice and ginger are thrown in and take their place in the play. The ginger here is not the freshly grated kind dripping with juice but of course desiccated. The liquorice providing a woody, slightly mentholated aroma in cooperation. Fate Man is only missing the garlic and onion to make a curry for your nasal palate. Many people do get a resemblance to curry after all! The oddity about this fragrance is “why do I like it so much?” It is certainly unusual, unique and would rarely garner you compliments, but something about this concoction of aromatics is captivating, intriguing and otherworldly. Perhaps it’s my fate? ;) Performance is very good. Longevity is excellent with 12+ hours and the projection will surely be noticed. Don’t expect Interlude levels of sillage but still nonetheless a strong fragrance. On a side note, the presentation is gorgeous and for me, suits the nature of this remarkable release from Amouage. The box is covered in esoteric and mystical imagery with shooting stars and flying horses and the bottle itself shimmers all colours of the rainbow topped with a gold cap and a clear gemstone. Scent: 10/10 (Outstanding) Performance: 8/10 (Very good)

The comments here on a Fate are so varied that it's easy to discern that, except for the undeniable and persistent cumin note, like most complex fragrances, this beautifully crafted exotic blend speaks quite privately to the wearer. Definitely sample before you buy, as most people you meet will have never encountered anything remotely like Fate, and may be polarized. Clearly complex, bracing gourmand on the open, but develops a woodsy musky backdrop, with intermittent but fascinating and surprising flowery nuances. To be sure, apply it 30 minutes before leaving the house. Two sprays ought to do it for the day. Initially, I liked my sample, then hated it after my FB purchase, only to have it totally grow on me, and my FB is now firmly entrenched in my 30-scent rotation. Definitely get the likeness to Black Afgano in the middle, but since the only common listed note for both is incense, this implies that other notes are interacting to create this effect. Curry is a leaf, not a spice per se, and is not listed as present in this scent. This is because "curry" (more accurately, a masala) is a generic term for mixtures of a number of spices that are typically toasted, then ground into a powder to be used along with garlic, ginger, ghee, and other ingredients in preparing Asian sub-continent dishes that most people dub generically as "curries". There are hundreds of combos of ingredients for these masalas, with some utilizing 40 or more ingredients, but they often include cumin, black and/or green coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, coconut, pepper blends, saffron, star anise (hence the licorice note here), mace, cloves, fenugreek, pomegranate seeds, et al. I suspect what we are smelling in Fate and what some are mistaking for "curry" is simply toasted cumin (thus making it somewhat smoky and overpowering at first), licorice and saffron. I really love Fate Man, and there are perfect times and places to wear it, but these are going to be unique to each wearer. Again, sampling is a must unless you are a cumin freak, in which case this is a blind buy candidate.

Fate Man opens with an assault of Spices. Cumin, Saffron, & Ginger, softly sweetened with an almost "Maple" accord created by the note of Immortelle, & backed by a beautiful note of Mandarin Orange that oddly freshens this heavily Spiced opening.. The Wormwood adds an Herbal Green almost dry woody accord to the composition. Theres so many other notes at work here. Notes of Rose, Olibanum, Lavender, Incense, Copahu balm, Tonka Bean, Labdanum, Cedar, Sandalwood, Musk, & Licorice. While Fate Man comes off Middle Eastern due to its use of Resins & Incense, its South Asian influences cant be ignored. Its prominent notes of Cumin, Saffron, Ginger, & Mandarin blend & create the most beautiful images of Bangladesh & India. ... while also conjuring images of having my "Fortune Told" on a desert road while taking in all of the different Market scents along the Spice Route at night. Thus, solidifying its name "Fate". Concerning the "Cumin" note.... I dont think the Cumin is the issue with Fate Man. I believe the issue is with the Immortelle, & how its Sweet Maple accord clashes with the Cumin. But had Amber been used instead of Immortelle, Fate Man would smell like your average Middle Eastern themed fragrance. I liken Fate Man to Tom Fords Amber Absolute as its Fresh/Spicy cousin. They dont smell anything alike, but they're definitely family. Fate Man is a very complex fragrance. Its a mood. For me, It smells Spiced, & Orange, like an Autumn Sunset through tree branches & pigmented leaves, offering a last bit of warmth before setting into the Cool Evening. Its a beautiful fragrance. But its not a fragrance for someone who isnt into the art of fragrance. Its very strong in projection & sillage. So be careful with your sprays.

It started with Bitter Sweet Absinth, Citrusy Mandarin, a little bite Dusty Spicy and Smoky aroma from blend of Cumin, Ginger and Saffron. I did not get much of cumin which is great. The color I got from the opening is Sandy Orange with dark Green Ripple. After 6 hours I believe this is the middle notes. The silage has lessen to the point of almost skin scent.but I still get a whiff once in a while. By the way, I have not smell copahu balm before so I do not know how strong this note is. I get smoky yet creamy & slightly sweeter, I guess this is from the mix of Immortelle & Frankincense. I also get the feeling of getting an exotic oil massage with something peppery, could this comes from copahu balm ? The rose in here blend beautifully with Ladender to form soapy aroma. Saffron is still around with dry tobacco like smell. The color I got from this phase is Dark Yellow almost golden with smoky grey mist on it. After 12 hours, I get the base notes. It is sweeter and woodier. The creamy Sandalwood is the lead player in this stage. The Immortelle is still hang around, it is not maple syrupy, but dried fruit like. I also get something quit boozy & bitter sweet, it must be Liquorice. The other notes also blend beautifully to form Brown Caramelly Skin. Love it. The best Amouage, if not the best perfume I ever smelt. Extremely Rich & Complex, but still readily wearable. Package : A (Look like a million bucks) Originality : A (Have not smelt anything like it) Scent : A (Pleasant, Well-blended & Complex) Longevity : A (More than 12 hours) Versatility : B (Too sweet for hot summer) Projection : B (Become less projects after 6 hours)

Cumin can be detected in more than 95% of the total olfactory life of the perfume. at the beginning of the perfume spray; Up to an hour the dominant smell is spicy. It's like a spice that Iranians use in rice and stew. After that, Zereh Anan takes over the work and makes a single hound until the end. This perfume has been placed in the spice group; But in my opinion, to some extent, this perfume can be included in the edible group Fit perfume is a perfume with a simple scent structure and there are no changes in the scent notes in this perfume The diffusion of the fragrance is medium to high, and the life of the perfume, which does not leave any room for any words like most of the products of the Amovaj brand, and has a shelf life of more than 12 hours.

I obtained a 2 mL sample from the Perfume Shoppe in Vancouver and tested the fragrance this week. As with most Amouage fragrances, the performance is top shelf. Projection and longevity are first rate. Sillage is just right for my purposes. When I first smelled it, I was immediately reminded of my trip to London this summer. I tried Songe d'un Bois d'ete at Selfridges. There is definitely a similar vibe between the two fragrances. At first with Songe I was taken aback by the cumin top note which was reminiscent of sweaty laborer. It was off-putting initially. Then the dry down developed. By that time I had left the store sans Songe and boy, did I regret that!! Drydown was super sexy, classy and moving. Could not stop smelling my wrist. The same goes for Fate. But this one will not get away! I shall be ordering a bottle by week's end. It is the sexiest fragrance I have smelled and while admittedly, I would hesitate to wear it in an office setting, I will be reaching for it as my #1 "between the sheets" scent. This fragrance is so sensual - it stirs me in a visceral way. Off the top I get cumin, which is beautifully done. Then immortelle and saffron and finally cedar and sandlewood at the base but the cumin still lingers. I guess that would explain the curry references but really it is so much more than that. This one won't have universal appeal but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. 10/10

I'm getting to try this one out. It wasn't love at first sniff because this stuff punches you in the face for a minute or two before you can start to distinguish what it might be doing. Not that that is a bad thing. Then I can smell that beautiful cumin saffron spicy incense. The cumin is salty and peppery and with saffron has a essence of leather. It's elegant and not shy. Just when you think it might be too spicy and peppery the wormwood, lavender, licorice mix starts to come around and settles the spices. I'm just getting past the opening. It was so impressive I came to write before I think too much. More coming next paragraph. That mix that develops in the heart also brings out the rose. I have trouble getting the whole spectrum in rose scents but I would say this is like a black rose with some blue tinted gray petals. With the herbs and spices the rose has a tea like smell to me. It's not very bright or floral. Maybe even hints of like a clean blue rose. Very nice and complex as it develops. Kind of took me by surprise and is going on a journey. Incense is there like a compass giving direction. There is an Indian tea this smells like. It's a traditional tea from the coast and islands. I forget the name. Amouage DNA spicy Indian tea. It's fantastic. It works surprisingly well in the heat with moderation. In the cold it takes much more sprays to keep up.

When I was first reading reviews of this I was totally confused. Some claimed that it was totally bizarre, disgusting, with a heavy dirty armpit note and weird saltiness. Others claimed that it was the most generic or easy Amouage masculine released in years. Now, when I finally got my nose on it, I kind of understood both viewpoints. It is undeniably cuminy in the opening, but there is so much more going on. The licorice comes out during the dry down and it creates an interesting medicinal sweetness that really works well with the softened immortelle. There are also brief flashes of the wormwood accord recognizable from (my favorite) Memoir. It becomes more and more likable as it dries down. Like a villain slowly showing their soft side. The first time I wore this the opening gave me an instant headache, but as the scent dried down I became captivated and my nose was glued to my wrist. Since that wearing I have been weirdly craving this and have actually worn it way more than I expected to. It provides an air of seriousness and control. It makes me feel powerful and confident and not too many scents do that successfully. Longevity is above average but not on par with some of the other Amouages, I get about 12 hours. Sillage was average on me for the better. Not my favorite Amouage but definitely a good one! 7.5/10

Fate Man defused into the wind smells amazing and ultra sexy. The person with the rocks to pull this off is the same that would be awesome without any fragrance at all. The scent just gives others a peek into the mind of the wearer and Fate is a carnival on a starry night. Fresh and heavy spice to open up the celebration as if a ball of it was shot out of a cannon and slowly returns to the ground like confetti on new years day. The cumin/spice can be fast forwarded if applied with a very atomized spray at a distance. For me that is the only way to apply complex multifaceted fragrances like Fate Man. Toward the mid the incense takes over and to my nose is not accompanied by floral but instead has them as an element of the incense itself. The incense melts into resins seamlessly with the help of the best lubricant in perfumery, labdanum. As with most Amouage fragrances the base is the best part and the part that becomes very wearable as it calms to a level that stimulates and does not obliterate people's attention and senses. A slightly sweet woody musk is what is left that has the spices and incense lightly smoldering on top before burning out. 9/10 in every category accept versatility where it can get no higher than a 4. My wife and I LOVE this scent and both agree it would be a Rock Star at a Music Festival.

Went to the London Boutique today for very first time...I think they have downsized the store as I remember walking by a year or 2 on a Sunday when it was closed but covering a larger part of the building....but I digress. LOVED sampling this amongst so many others... Has a popcorn, licorice, sweet bake heart to it but is otherwise typical of Amouage (frankincense, resins, rich and dense ingredients). And then I can also make out a note similar to Brandy or Cognac. Not the one of the gentle and KILIAN (Moet-Hennesey) kind, but more of a thick mollasses, oak barrell-matured nature. Very distinct and compelling. Makes you think of an old gentleman's club in a discreet and secret location. I loved how they bring the notes of the scent alive in the window dressing, recreating artefacts and foodstuffs synonymous with a fairground! As a matter of fact you could summarize this fragrance with a visit to the most gorgeous "old skool" fairground, romantic, something from yesteryear (toffee apple, candy floss, baked tarts, pop corn, ...) Heavenly sweet yet divine! Along the lines of "Angel" Tierry Mugler (Amouage's most gourmand offering thus far), but much more dense, interesting, rich and typical AMOUAGE Arabic style. 9/10 for scent. 10/10 for storytelling. EPIC!

Fate Man opens with a triple front of absinthe, ginger and cumin accords, these are all present and may be perceived in the singular but come also come together in a gourmand manner to give an impression of chewy cinnamon pastries or gingerbread. The heart of the fragrance gets drier and a little more focused on the dark and spicy copahu balm and cumin (the cumin is not at all sweaty, and more gourmand in its application) After around 6 hours when Fate comes back as a skin scent, singular notes seem to waft up in isolation, whether they be copahu, liquorice, or tobacco and taif rose, this goes on for an hour or two, and is a very nice experience. The immortelle is more prominent during drydown and is not too syrupy, but is applied with a little stewed/dried fruit balance and a beautiful creamy sandalwood backbone, similar to that of Opus VI. The liquorice also is more evident during drydown, but still faint. Silage is moderate and after about 6 hours Fate pulls back to be a skin scent, although longevity is very good and the Fate is still sniffable after 12+ hours. It is complex, and engaging, yet very well behaved and wearable in most situations. I love Fate Man, it’s a really satisfying wear, and one that seems to get better with time. Great stuff...

In all of the reviews below, you will clearly see two types of person. 1) You will see people who have bothered to wait a decent amount of time before judging this fragrance and who have discovered that it is beautiful, but heavy in cumin at the start. 2) You will also see reviews by people who reveal their ignorance of perfumery by judging this in the first five minutes after application. This group of people probably also like microwave meals and MacShakes. They should be ignored because they like a quick fix, a linear note, gratification without celebration and a journey without an experience. You can't help but noticing the high-impact notes of Immortel, Caraway and Liquorice in this scent. Many people think it smells like curry or savoury rice! I love the way these notes interact with beautiful florals, aromatic and leather-like notes which sit behind them: rose, ginger, saffron, labdanum - plus the sweetness of mandarin and sandalwood. It feels like walking through a market in Delhi and being aware of different smells swirling around you in the air. It's a sunny day fragrance and for me, evokes a feeling of happiness and jollity. I wouldn't wear it to work. It's for a day in the garden drinking wine with friends.

I tried this 2 years ago in duty free in a rush. And I thought it is cumin version of Interlude and passed it. And 4 days ago I found this in duty free with very good price so that I didn’t want to miss the opportunity and bought it. Since I am huge Amouage fan and I want to collect all of the line I didn’t hesitate. During 4 days I had opportunity to experience this and what can I say. It is what a oriental niche fragrance should smell like. I can’t differentiate the notes they are blended so magnificently and the aroma is indeed intoxicating. If you like Interlude and find it too loud (I don’t say this is silent fragrance) and base of Interlude to be sweet then go for this. You won’t get disappointed. This is not a sweet frangrance but smooth, spicy, incency and woody. I don’t smell curry or cumin bomb. Yes this is spicy fragrance but not gourmand at all. Not crowd pleaser but indeed top 3 Amouage and I think this is extremely understated fragrance. And the bottle just best of any Amouage. Performance extremely good 12 hours sillage not invasive but noticeable. According to me 10/10. EDIT: This is the most beautiful Amouage in my opinion. And longevity is beyond 12 hours and sillage is much better then I thought.

It starts with a blast of orange and saffron and then the ginger and cumin quickly come through. The absinthe (wormwood) gives it a little bitter medicinal quality with a little smokiness. It immediately reminds me of Amouage scents. Then the immortelle starts coming through with hints of maple syrupy sweetness but, not a lot. About half an hour in there is something a little skanky but, that fades rather quickly on my skin. I get absolutely no rose. Lots of gorgeous smokiness from the frankincense. The cumin has disappeared. After about an hour it starts to soften up (it is quite strong, spicy and smokey at first) and the cedar and sandalwood become mixed with the with the frankincense. They are dark woods though, nothing light and creamy. After a couple of hours there is a lot of amber with a little musk (not skanky) something similar to the DD of Opus VII and VI. The surprise to me was that after about 5 hours the immortelle came back. 12 hours later I still smell immortelle although I find that happens a lot on my skin with this note. Longevity is excellent (12+ hours ) and sillage is above average for the fist few hours. Definitely FBW!

You guys talk about how unlikable this is but it’s only with certain demographics. Not even trying to pick on people but only people without brown skin have disliked it on me bc it’s too spicy for them. And I get it this isn’t something that’s anywhere close to familiar for them I ain’t mad at it. But for people who’ve seen more than 3 continents and have a love for culture and flavor this is a home run scent. I get girls asking me what I’m wearing every time bc they want it for themselves! So I don’t think it’s actually all that masculine. Kinda paid a lot for it but it was worth it. Gorgeous in every way. I like it better than journey man actually which I adored but has gotten a bit harsh to me actually. This feels way smoother Edit: the more I wear it the more obviously masculine it gets but I need some of these for when I’m around family of the old head traditional type and don’t wanna explain why I smell like Aphrodite lol. Wore it for a birthday dinner and a group of men were talking about their own perfumes after smelling mine bc it made inspired them and made them want to find something as beautiful

Im surprised how no one said the base notes are similar to black afghano. Fate has broken my heart, because i was truly a lover of amouage house, my favourite amouage interlude was my signature for quite some time still adore it and find it perfect to character and personality, and then i hear amouage fate, i go out of my way to buy this, with all the amazing colours and reviews, hell my brother smelt it at dubai airport, he hated it only his review was odd saying it smelt like a smokers dirty clothes. hes not a good smeller. anyway i expected this to be like amoiage interlude, i mean in the oomph factor and its mysteriousness. only when i just applied it 20 minutes ago it does actually smell like curry soup and abit like my own sweat. i mean hell yeah i would like to blend it in with me a day i dont take shower :D but NO!!!! i expected so much from you fate, 20 minutes in spices have faded down, getting lots of similarities to black afghano definately, not sure about the sillage, definately no where near interlude still quite rich. 7/10...

I love this.! Exactly what I expect from Amouage; high quality and slightly avant garde. I've read a lot of reviews before buying this and I can't understand some of the reviews that this smells like Curry. I am from a country where curry is a staple and I assure you it doesn't have any resemblance. I understand that they share a note of cumin but the similarities end there. The cumin note is strong for the first 5 mins. If you're accustomed to mainstream perfumery you'll have difficulty with this but more experienced noses should find this easily digestible and perhaps even interesting. Like most amaouages the incense and olibanum blends beautifully with the cumin to make a sophisticated elegant scent. I really can't stop wearing it and hope more people give this a fair try.... this might not ever be a Reflection or an Interlude or even Epic ( my personal fav), but it doesn't need to be... Strangely though I've put a larger dent in my bottle in 1 month than I have with all my other amouages which I've owned for years.... awesome stuff 👏

What to say... I truly think Fate Man is underrated compared all the other Amouage fragrances. It was a love a t first sniff, more than Reflection man, Lyric man or Epic Man. Maybe less crowd pleaser yes, but this one has more personality/character and is a unique smell (never smelt that anywhere else). The fragrance brings you to different directions along the day. Yes spices (Cumin/Safran) are dominants in the first 1-2hrs, but to my nose not as much as you were cooking an Indian dish. It shines in a very nice way especially with the incense combo. Then the flowers come front for the next 3-6hrs and it’s just another world. More subtle, sophisticated... lovely. At the end (6-10hrs) you smell the warmness of the base notes and again the fragrance awakens different emotions while smelling it. You can smell the quality of the raw materials in this juice and in addition to that, the bottle is the most beautiful one of the entire Amouage collection. To me this one is very addictive. Thanks a lot for this unique creation.

This is my second review of Fate Man. Fate is a very misunderstood fragrance; and I am guilty of some misunderstanding. I wouldn't say that my first review was wrong or inaccurate, but it was based on tests of concentrated perfume to wrist/arm, which is not the best way to experience this fragrance. And it IS an experience. When applied lightly, but liberally, Fate is a miasma of scents, not unlike the swirling rainbow pattern of the glass bottle - exotic, sparkling and multi-dimensional; and at the same time refined, sophisticated and alluring. What this scent becomes over time, when the perfume oils mix with masculine skin, is downright dirty, and primally sexual. Don't let the astrological symbols on the packaging fool you: there is nothing esoteric and mystical here. This stuff is pure raunch and sex in a bottle. Guys, try this and find out for yourselves.

This is a one in a million masterpiece. There was a reformulation between the non-magnetic and magnetic cap versions, but it didn't destroy it (if anything it's slightly less culinary now, and the performance is better on the more recent version). No house has the gall to do this type of thing now, including Amouage in its current guise. A note for those who haven't smelled it - if you do, you may initially be appalled, as I was, but wear it a couple of times. You may still not like it, or the switch might flip in your brain, and you'll enter the Fate matrix, and appreciate what genius it is. Also, I don't disagree with the comment below about the smell on clothes after cooking with cumin... but somehow it works. If I had to wear perfumes by only one pefurmer for the rest of my life, it would be Karine Vinchon-Spehner, she's got the most magic touch ❤️

I don't understand how people can smell sweat, curry, Indian house from this. Either my nose is broken or when they see cumin in note breakdown, they get this idea immediately. I guess many times people (reviewers) say what someone else said... Definitely it's not a cumin bomb. Cumin is there but not dominated to the fragrance. Skin chemistry is very important, but cumin settle down after the first 5-10 minutes and it's turn fresher side. I slightly feel the classy Habit Rouge kinda vibe. It smells quite classy, slightly smoky and fresh spices in the air. Immortele shows itself and slightly sweet and I think it's because of the licorice. Overall a very good Amouage. Sillage and longevity are quite good. Also quite versatile. Instead of hot summer days, it also suits summer evenings below 25-26C and can be worn all year round. It's a shame discontinued.

I can't say I mind the cumin. I wish I could test this out of a vaporizer...I only have a dabber vial unfortunately. It all comes together into a very nice balance, even the cumin. Like Memoir, it settles into something that is very well blended, a harmonious whole where no one note or accord dominates. I have worn this four times now and each time projection was intense for about 3-4 hours and then it seems to take a quick nose dive becoming a harder to detect skin scent. It is however a delicious skin scent with a mature, subdued sweetness that smells like a scrumptious cumin/caramel/ginger bread with a flicker of incense . Interlude lovers might appreciate this although the projection is nowhere near as strong. It's like Interlude's less bombastic, spicy gourmandish cousin. They make a nice pair.

Not sure why I waited so long to try this. I'm sure the low rating and bad reviews had something to do with it. This is so much better than I expected. Yes, I smell cumin, but it's not outlandish or body odor at all. It's much more ambery and sweeter than I expected as well. It is definitely spicy, but also very creamy and incensy. The musky drydown is heavenly. I really like this and can't understand why the rating is so low. It's nowhere near as scary as the reviews might suggest. I find it WAY more wearable than Figment, Myths or Bracken. Very masculine. Moderate projection, but excellent longevity. As with nearly all Amouages, Fate Man does not smell the least bit synthetic, with a very natural smell. Wouldn't mind searching out a full bottle of this.

If Interlude uses oregano to give the character to the burning agarwood, Fate uses cumin to evoke something as profound as the strength and power of the inevitable, coincidence that both are of the same chronology and based on an important note. of spices. I had never smelled a sweet cumin fragrance as beautiful as this one, the other times, the fragrances based on this note did not convince me much, or they were heavy or sweaty or lewd, but never with this spirituality that the incense with the balm has given it from copaiba, it makes everything as oriental and unique as this masterpiece by Mr. Chong. Is it any wonder, the most erotic fragrance I know resides within a fantasy-like bottle, iridescent like an opal? A genie in a bottle. Fate chooses us whether we like it or not. Well...I’m overjoyed to accept this particular fate. Where Salvatore Ferragamo's Black Musk and Byredo's Black Saffron are sexy, Amouage's Fate is raunchy. Fresh spicy opening which literally dries down to beautiful, sexy, raunchy, hairy, man musk, during and after hot sweaty fucking. Enough said. Edit 13/12/2020 - Ok, after much experience, while I will always treasure my brief love affair with this unique Middle Eastern gem, my love for this has ended. It just wasn't as raunchy and dirty as my other lovers since - Dior Leather Oud and Africa Olifant.

This is a very interesting fragrance. First spray I was not feeling it that much. It’s a heavy dose of cumin however as it began to dry down the majic started. The cumin is not skank, but it’s definitely there on the top. Like most have said it becomes an Amber spicy beautiful scent. I have several Amouage fragrances and this Is one I am really enjoying. Typical Amouage quality with good performance. Fate Man is not one you can walk into Neiman’s spray on a test strip and be love at first sniff. You HAVE to put this on your skin and allow it to develop. An hour after spraying it you will be in love with it. Not sure I would recommend blind buying this, as I did but fortunately I am happy it’s in my collection.

Fate is one of the finest fragrances from the luxury house of Amouage, and it is up there with Interlude in terms of complexity and potency. Brave men with a lot of confidence would love this fragrance, so it is not for immature noses or fainted hearts. Cumin is the dominant note. I can see why people are hesitant to try it because the combination of cumin and and sweat can result in terribly body odor. However, this statement doesn't apply here because cumin has been blended so well in a way only Amouage can do. Fate is a super spicy fragrance that reminds me of going to a grand bazaar in the Middle East. A 10/10 of masterpiece from Amouage, and a must have in my collection.

So I changed my preference from like to Love for this. Reviewing it after my 3rd full wearing. What I profoundly getting out of this includes a prominent note of Cumin and Incense followed by Saffron (Strong), Immortelle(In background), Labdanum(Supporting) and Dry Woody(present throughout). It also mimics the dry tobacco accord slightly, in fact when I first tested it, I thought it would be a Tobacco based scent. Complex yet linear, only top notes of Cumin eventually turns down in later stage What a lovely representation of some of the most challenging oriental notes in most modernistic way possible. This is an artistic and unusual creation, certainly not for the masses

13 years later and I have still never experienced something quite like this. The opening to me is one of the greatest smells. I always picture this molten amber inside of an extremely old tree. I've always been told it's too spicy or I smell like sawdust. The dry down is so spectacular though. The cumin starts to mix with the woods and create this almost sweet, creamy sandalwood, spicy amber dry down. 10/10 smell for me. I can "understand" why they discontinued it as it won't be for everyone. I still don't agree with it though. At least make small batches. Please bring all of the discontinued Amouage back. More people need to have easier access to this art.

A smoky brooding masterclass in modern masculine Oriental perfumery, this gem is definitely not a crowd pleaser given its spice heavy attributes. The perfume opens with a dark aromatic burst of cumin, ginger, wormwood, saffron and orange peel. The heart is mostly incensy olibanum with a bit of rose, labdanum and copahu. The perfume settles on a musky sandalwood bed with notes of licorice, tonka bean and cedar. The perfume evokes a strong confident musky masculinity and will really appeal to bold unafraid men and women. Unisex masculine leaning with moderate to strong projection and good longevity. Enjoy!

The Cumin and Incense notes make it similiar to "Atelier Tobacco Nuit" but thicker and not too sweet, very masculine. The few minutes after sprays is bozy, but 15-20' after that, the bozy come down let the woody and cumin notes in. The scent makes me feel like in a luxury India restaurant and be served with Rice Curry or when i walk through the Oriental altar in the woods. Longevity is good (8/10) but the Sillage and Projection (5/10) isn't good enough for me. Rating 8/10 (If Amouge Fate Man has Interlude Man's sillage, at least Epic Man's sillage, i will rate it to 10/10. That's a pity :( )

This reminds of Serge Lutens Arabie due to the dry fruity accord, although it's not part of the note pyramid. To compare it to SL Arabie, this is less sweet, less resinous, more woody version. Trying to describe the notes is a bit difficult as it changes alot, like most of Amouage perfumes. The cumin is evident at the beginning only then it dies off, dry fruit accord is present throughout although it's stronger at the start and calms down. There are woods and Oud, plus balsamic notes that come and go. These are the top and middle notes, will update when I get to the base notes.

I can't give Fate Man a proper description yet. I'm still so blown away by it. I can only label it in comparison to the rest of my Amouage collection. Ciel Man is the Pretty Boy. Reflection Man is the Nice Guy, the Flirtatious Gentleman. Jubilation XXV is the Golden Boy, the Socialite. Lyric Man is the Romantic. Epic Man is the Dark, Dominating Seducer. Epic Woman is the Irresistable. Fate Man is the Pinnacle of Power. Everything about this composition yells "POWER!" to me. I experience killer longevity and head-turning sillage. Another winner from Amouage.

Blind bought this one because I got a good deal. Sure, cumin is very prominent here but I was surprised to find this fragrance so smoky! Still looking for the best occasion and season to wear it. _____ Update So multilayered! Been trying to tame it for a month and every single time I spray this beauty it's so surprising! I mean, cumin is still there but different surrounding notes just keep appearing. So provoking, energizing and, most of all, hypnotizing. The first try might (and I'm sure it will) be misleading. Don't give up on this after one spray.

Freshly baked bread Genuinely adore this fragrance. As people have said, you have to be an authentic spice fragrance lover to enjoy this. I don't say that to discriminate, but instead to warn. It does come off as curry... warm, creamy curry. Can be a bit much. The licorice in there is lovely with the immortelle. Idk what the hell people are thinking saying this, but it's NOTHING like Tresor. Tresor is fruity, powdery and floral... this is pure spice & woods with a little incense. Such an odd and unimaginable comparison.

Wow!! Fate it's the quintessence of Amouage's fragrance. Balsamic and spicy are the ''keywords'' here. Sincerely, It reminds me to curry due to cumin. For me it's doesn't result so smoky like other fragrances of this house. Fate it's rather sweet but not cloying. IMO one of the most unique fragrances of Amouage. Complex and exotic. I think that everything is different, it takes time to be understood. With Fate happens exactly. The cumin and copal (copahu balm) scare our expectation. But disengage from what you know and give another chance to Fate. I love this fragrance and could spend a lifetime with this. Now I can say: I love this fragrance!Has plenty of character, it is unique and I am very happy to have this with me.

I really love immortelle, but here the main player is cumin, and it doesn't blend with the other notes, it is just too much. Imagine you are under the sun in a Moroccan market with a lot of sweating people. Not my definition of smelling good. I prefer Jubilation XXV, Memoir and Interlude, even if this last one is a little too sweet, like a Lutens. Update: tried it again today, no cumin, no immortelle, only a lovely blend of sandalwood, incense and cedar. I know, I'm not helping.

This is a fragrance that I would rather not dissect. Simply because I think is better to enjoy instead of going deep separating the notes. The first minute or so the cumin is quite obvious but the immortelle surrounds it making it less harsh. Then I get lost because it's a symphony of aromas, all blended beautifully, it exudes an air of masculine confidence, luxurious. Fate man is a fragrance that, if possible, it's worth to buy, one that feels timeless and personal.

About 15-20 into this on my skin it started to remind me of the lower region of a woman's anatomy. The musk for sure and the floral notes tie it all together. It makes me think of a woman who woke up and showered, went to work and came home and changed and the soap from the this morning's shower lingered and mixed with her natural scent. So basically this reminds me of a working woman's crouch, which is not a bad thing by any means.

My experience with this one when I sprayed it on my wrist; if you stick your nose to your wrist you will find cumin overpowers all the notes. But if you leave it radiates naturally, you will get balanced whiffs of incense and some spicy notes resembles the experience you get from jubilation 25. Not loud and sweet like interlude nor discreet and inviting like Dia. I love it. And it leaves a spicy santal smell for days on my jacket.

The cumin in this is more inline with cooking than with body odor and it stands alone only at the top. It is quickly joined by several other spices and licorice as it turns into a sweet spice blend with the immortelle holding it all together. As this drys down, it changes to a sweet amber with the spices still playing together. Overall, it is a great scent with the sillage not as strong as I expected. Really enjoy this one.

I wish i had enough money to not feel bad about getting back-up bottles of this and figment. Two of the most underrated and misunderstood fragrances ever created. So opulent and beautiful. I love this stuff. It took me even longer to understand and like than figment man but it was so worth it. I will cherish my 100ml and my 100ml of figment till one day, i run out and will try to get another one of each.

Yes, there is a definite "food" vibe upon first spraying. It transforms pretty quickly on me to a warm, spicy, very slightly sweet creation. I'm a fan. Any weather, any time of year (but I also feel like that with most fragrances). With the direction of amouage currently, I'm trying to pick up as many of the older creations as I can before they go tits up. Not a fan of the newer offerings from amouage.

Best Amouage, hands down. Also, a fantastic study on spices. Cumin is big here, it smells like the orient, like far away lands where sun never stops. It smells decadent, you will bow to this, sooner or later. The amber..the incense.. how did Amouage remove this?I dont know, but It commands respect, and time to understand. Maybe people just didnt understand this, which i can see.

- Batch 2020 - This goes perfect on my skin. Cumin?! Yeah noticeable for 1~2 hours, not nasty or sweaty, then it turns to the most beautiful spicy santal I’ve ever smelled. Complements & performance?, my wife told me once; what the hell are you wearing, your shirt did smell amazing and still after washing it. I’m feeling sorry for anyone who got irritated by this spicy devil.
