Gold Woman

I think that for those who take tasting vintage perfumes as their goal, they should set Guerlain Shalimar as the starting point and Amouage Gold as the end point. Because Gold is everything. Has the answer I was looking for. what does it feel like? Before dawn, I went out wearing a down jacket and climbed to the top of Alishan. I leaned against the railing and took a nap out of tiredness, waiting for a red sun to rise. There was a long silence, and then someone shouted. When I woke up, I could see a little white on the back of the mountain. Through the mist, my eyes moved from the rose-purple sky, the orange halo, and the blue mountain to rolling on the edge, It was so bright that it was almost Burning golden cloud. The wind blows, the clouds surge... The light shines from a distance, and the range quickly expands to the forest below. The night fades back, and the sun covers the sky and the earth. This is the pinnacle of Guy Robert's career, an existence he calls "glory". N°5 and Arpege are both respectable opponents of Gold, others have to pay homage to the huge Gold. Except for N°5, I can’t think of any aldehydic flower that is more dazzling than Gold. atmosphere. Aldehyde flower to Gold cap. In 2020, I smell the current EDP. Let me talk about the conclusion first: not too bad, with a dignified beauty, aldehydes, flowers and resins are all available. The premise is not to compare with the original EDT (in the 80s). According to my observations, the differences in the past 40 years include thinning of raw materials, a slight drop in the level of raw materials, roughly the same structure and basics, adjustments to the inner composition and proportion, and the capacity is not as large as before. The concept is like a cup, which can hold 180ml in the original, but can only hold 60ml at most after modification. Adjust the scale to lose than triple the size. Compared with the current version, the original version is probably the difference from the magnificent mosque (building body) to the table model. I have collected an unopened limited edition Extrait de Parfum collectors and the EDT mentioned above, with the words Amouage Cristal on the bottom. Extrait de Parfum is richer and deeper, with enhanced aldehyde and floral aromas, weakened woody aromas, less powdery feeling, prominent frankincense and rose, and moist amber, integrated into one, silky and dense like satin. I think Extrait de Parfum focuses on "pure ", the quality of raw materials has been improved to a higher level. EDT is light, penetrating, and clear, with a crystal-like texture. Simple and complex. EDT benefits from a solid foundation. On a stable base, Guy Robert uses ingenuity to arrange all elements to transform various patterns. I think it is more gorgeous, and it is worth studying how Guy Robert coordinates elements, masters the strong and weak relationship between them, and makes it clean and tidy. EDT focuses on two words: balance There is a wonderful feeling of breaking away from gravity and being able to levitate and fly straight to heaven. There should be six versions in total. Aside from what I have are the Extrait spray bottle, the EDT in the 90s, the EDP before the revision and the current magnetic cap EDP, Parfum (suspected to be equal to Extrait de Parfum). Unlimited creative freedom is every perfumer's dream. Gold is the embodiment of ingenuity, no matter which version, the details can stand the attention. Appreciating Gold, like listening to classical music that is recognized as a model, requires cultural literacy, but also requires sufficient olfactory experience, vision and patience. Gold is a gift from kings, I agree. EDT is used to pay tribute to the king, and EDP is used as a hymn to the eternal and invincible god. The Gold in my hand is simple and powerful. It is not an overweight perfume full of spices in my imagination. It is broad and bright. The rose here is not only rose, and jasmine is not only jasmine. Natural ambergris and sandalwood... Floral, incense, frankincense, resins form a beautiful silhouette. The saltiness of the civet enriches the floral fragrance, and the powder of the orris root dissolves in the floral fragrance...it really is a symphony! Gold is all-encompassing and can form a boundless three-dimensional space by itself, in which there are thousands of worlds. It's like a mosque that appeared somewhere out of nowhere and rose from the ground. The inside and outside are all cast in gold. I can step into the sanctuary the moment I open the bottle cap. Unprecedented luxury that cannot be easily appraised in value. Gold is born extravagant. After smelling it, most perfumes will look ordinary, vulgar, rough, and overshadowed.

Ah, so we are getting into the Gold versus Caleche thing are we ? Well, Guy Robert composed both , Caleche way back in '61 and gold in '84 and I love and wear both , sometimes at the same time. Gold is what Caleche may have been with the benefit of an unlimited budget and another 23 years on Guy's clock - you can see that he spent his life working up to creating Gold . Both dry down in a soapy way which , I actually love , its like really refined Dove soap . (Luca Turin has always stated that if Dove made an EDP - it would sell very well !) Caleche pure perfume is perhaps nearer to Gold than the eau Soir but Gold doesn't have the same aldehydic burst at the beginning . Gold is unctuous , it is mellifluous , its is honeyed and rosy and warm and I don't actually think its "powerful" personally , to me, Caleche is , at the front end at least, 20 times more obvious .I don't think Gold has the projection of Caleche - it plays a close hand . The ingredients are all the purist possible but reformulation in 1998 will have taken out some of the natural ingredients - because thats what happened - better to have synthetic cheap molecules that have been allergy tested than expensive natural ingredients that one person in a million may develop a rash if exposed to eh ? ( Its not my ideal , thats for sure ) . Gold is now £220 for 100ml , Caleche is £110 for the same - good perfume is not cheap these days . (15ml of pure Caleche is £140 - and its nothing like the EDP - thats for another review though.) I couldn't afford to buy either of these scents until I was in my late 40's - maybe thats why younger people don't "get" Gold, because they know that its expensive and they will probably be older before they can afford it at which point, you, like me perhaps , will grow into it by virtue of age and pocket .I never allowed myself to fall in love with anything that I could not afford - Gold fell into this category . In my 20's, I had the choice of all the "old" scents like original Chanel 5, Shalimar, Caleche but I didn't want them - I wanted , initially , the things my friends wore - Rive Gauche then onto Opium, Obsession ,Poison, Ysatis etc. my concession to "classic" being L'Interdit III and Jardins de Bagatelle which I didn't stick with - also, the last thing I would have been able to afford was a months wages on one scent so our paths didn't cross until I could actually afford it . In my late 30's , I strayed into the realms of Samsara, Ghost , Gucci Rush , Tresor , Angel , Safari, Boucheron, Diorella , Diorama , Mitsouko and some of the Serge Lutens . It was a scent fest - I was a scent tart ! In my 40's I delved into L'Heure Bleue , Chamade, and Shalimar and a lot of the darker Carons like En Avion, Tabac Blond and Poivre - I loved them , they felt more modern than new scents and I thought I was spending a lot of money. I tried and loved Chanel 5 and other Chanels , they all hated me - for my pains . In my 50's I am going for quality and finally, luxury with a wardrobe of Amouage scents , my favourites being Gold, Lyric and Jubilation XXV. I have also discovered Habanita, Calypso ( for pure 1920's fun) and finally, Madame Rochas to see what it was like for my Mum who could never afford it . And now with knowledge available, I find time and time again that I go back to Guy Robert because I feel perfumers signatures . Gold was the pinnacle of his career - like being able to build an Rolls Royce after working at Ferrari - both were good jobs , both built excellent cars but one gave you unlimited funds to do the job. Guy said " above all , a scent must smell good". Well, both Caleche and Gold smell wonderful - I'm not going to choose because at my age, I can have more than one car in the garage - its the only side benefit of being older IMO. BTW - I am not getting civet on any level .

I am a man that wears Amouage Gold Man. I am a man that wears Amouage Gold Woman. You can smell me from a block away when I do. Who is that man grinning like an idiot? He smells great, though. He’s got some cajones. Not really. All it takes to wear Gold Woman - or Gold Man, for that matter - is a constitution able to handle massive powdery aldehydes and florals. Many an expert on Amouage will tell you that the focus of both in newer formulations has shifted to those aldehydes and florals by dialing back the incenses, woods, and funky ambergris and musks, and that is correct. Both have undergone a lot of changes to be more appealing to 21st century Western noses. Gold Woman in particular now reads more like a strict powdery floral amalgam with a demur base, but amplified to volumes unacceptable to proper and restrained French chic style. In that sense, Gold Woman reads more like an old Dior in its personality, flirting with the other side of the archetypal French personality that has a private love for things rude and lascivious - or at least it did in the old formulations, the newer ones opting for that side of behavior purely with volume and tenacity. Sticking to the newer formulations of Gold Woman, which are nearly the only ones that I wear because, one, I do love them still, and, two, due to the rarity of old formulations and their values that approach down-payment-levels for a new car. The aldehydes present in enormous quantities throughout the life of the perfume aside, the perfume is a shifting kaleidoscope of white florals. Muguet opens Gold Woman with huge notes of unctuous and sweet cream, a sunny and citrusy white floral note, a green edge, and moist soapiness. The incense string that runs through the entirety of Gold Woman is immediately noticed to be muted, overlapping in a rather nondescript way with the resinous green edge and absolutely zero smokey facets. The opening presents an invigorating and soapy cleanliness that makes the electrical synapses of your brain fire with rapid speed when paired with the enormous aldehydes. The heart section is a swirl of honeyed jasmine and a luscious white rose that undulate between bright white and beige shades of white while a powdery and makeup-presenting iris locks together with the aldehydes in an indefatigable militaristic march. A loamy patchouli, sandalwood, and musks come through at the end, almost imperceptibly accented by ambroxan and civetone, the resinous incense note still a thread running through, whilst the powdery cleanliness still shows no sign of letting up. Glory, glory, hallelujah. Sins, cares, stresses, darkness and bleakness have been washed away; a bright white and hazy cool sunlight shines on me, leading this man to walk with an idiot’s grin on his face. The new Gold Woman might have some mostly-unforgivable overlap with old and modern feminine powdery and soapy florals that makes the true connoisseur raise points about lack of character and redundancy, and that is not invalid. Where I find the difference is confidence. Gold Woman doesn’t want to be shy or quiet about what it is, nor safe; it wants to announce itself, its person, and its feelings with an alto’s full-throated belt for the world to hear.

Gold is a symphonic aldehydic floral, opulent, rich, and utterly beautiful - as befits the perfume that launched the house of Amouage. While it is not an unusual perfume, it is possibly the best example of an aldehydic floral this side of Chanel No. 5. Composed by the legendary Guy Robert (he of Gucci 1 and Madame Rochas fame), he considered Gold to be the pinnacle of his career. Indeed, when a talented perfumer is given a large enough budget, great things ensue. Gold opens with bright, soapy aldehydes alongside a rich floral accord from the initial spray. Powdery rose is most evident initially, but it is shortly joined by a beautiful green lily-of-the-valley note. Jasmine adds creamy sweetness, and soft spices add a warm edge. As it develops, myrrh adds a warm, balsamic quality to the background, setting off the rich florals beautifully. The incense note that joins it is subtle, adding an aromatic smokiness to the background. I always enjoy the "Nativity accord" of frankincense and myrrh, given my Catholic upbringing - particularly apt in a frangrance named "Gold"! Here, it is an inspired addition to the bold, rich floral accord, as well as serving as a nod to the Middle Eastern heritage of the house. It becomes woody as it dries down, with a resinous, animalic amber accord that grounds the airy florals nicely at the latter stages of this scent. It adds a little dirtiness and depth, balancing the opulent beauty of the aldehydic florals nicely. It fades to a musky, powdery amber-floral skin scent, addictive until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. An extravagant, elegant masterpiece, Gold is classically feminine and feels mature, even regal. Transseasonal and versatile, it can be worn day-to-night, but perhaps is best saved for special occasions, as it smells expensive. Luxury in a bottle. 5/5.

Gold vs. Caleche... Caleche has a distinct underpinning of something very green, verdant. The aldehydes are extremely loud. It is an inherently bright scent, florals highlighted by citrus. I'm sensitive to oakmoss, I like it very much, and it's all over this scent. No smoke. Gold is softly aldehydic, and the flowers are mellowed out by the strong animalic vibe and smoke. It shines and glints under certain light, but it's inherently resinous and powdery - not illuminating from the core. No oakmoss. I absolutely love 'Gold'. It reminds me a lot of Chanel 5, Caleche, yes, and even La Myrrhe, but it's much, much lovelier than these. It has a classic feel and a vintage vibe, but it's very fresh, not outdated at all. Whereas Caleche and Chanel 5 can feel outdated sometimes to me. I've worn it twice and the beauty astounds me. In behaviour, Gold warms beautifully on the skin after 30 minutes, gently molding itself into a unified scent becoming a part of me, wafting around afterward for hours.... while Caleche only fades, fades, fades.... I feel very lucky to be able to try Gold; makes me feel like I dance through life on pink satin pointe shoes, dripping in Pamela Love. Gold for Women may very well be my 'Felix Felicis'. (Harry Potter fans will know what this is!) It would be hard for me to choose between Gold and Epic if I were ever to purchase a full bottle of Amouage. Someone below said that although this is considered to be Guy Robert's masterpiece (and I think it is, too), it wouldn't win any points for originality. I don't know. My thinking is that if you're going to do something better than everyone else - and outdo yourself in the process - setting the bar so high that all experimentation within a whole genre comes to a grinding halt because there's nothing more to do - then you get all the points. :)

to be truthful, Gold started at a disadvantage with me. Any very costly scent, i am immediately thinking..."is this worth it?" honestly, after my experience with Ubar, which blew my head off, and then the quiet beauty (but not worth the money) of Reflection woman. Where is this big revelation everyone is having over the house of Amouage? Let's say unfortunately for my finances, i found it! It is honestly hard to pick out notes here, they are so well blended, Gold is as precious as its namesake, and delivers! Here we start with rose, and perfect jasmine, other flowers hidden, warm amber, frankincense, myrh & cedar form the platform on which the flowers are crowned in their glory by a clear aldehyde, (which i normally do not care for in such large doses), and perfect incense threading through that reminds you that you are in the realm of the exotic. Rather than trying to pick apart a tapestry, i will describe my feeling while wearing. first bottle sniff, Nag champa incense, aldehydes, jasmine yuk! Then husband asked me to test this one specifically. Glory, color, light sparkling off jewels, warming skin & blossoms. balmy breezes, commanding attention. Enrapturing trail that will leave a heartache.. this perfume wears like silk on skin feels. truly one of a kind. I will have to buy this beauty, and appreciate its majesty over many years, for surely, this is a strong scent, built on quality.

I swapped for an Amouage sample set ( thanks goldenfire5!) and fell for this one hard! I kept trying it and could find nothing I didn't like and everything I loved and was so close to pulling the trigger and buying a discount bottle of this golden Elixer....BUT! I knew it was familiar to me and the more I sniffed I began to recognize this fragrance....to my nose, it is none other than my beloved Rive Gauche edp hiding in a gold bottle rather than it's well-known blue & silver 'can'! Now, I won't argue with the fact that this is a bit smoother, more luxourious (probably the civet) ... more like Rive Gauche in it's original formulation but seeing as I have 6 back-ups of my signature Rive Gauche waiting for me...I must bid adieu to my first Amouage love...it was fun while it lasted! EDIT: I couldn't get this off my mind...I went ahead and purchased a bottle, will update after wearing it from a full bottle rather than tiny sample sprays. EDIT II: My initial opinion stands: At this point in its reformulation, this is very much like Rive Gauche which can be bought much cheaper; this has very little difference for at least double, if not triple, the price.

- vintage original sample, just “Amouage", in perfect condition: Amazing. You can immediately tell that everything in it is of the finest quality. Lily of the valley and rose come off the top, then as it warms the civet and ambergris come in - woods, musks, a touch of powder, the resins. The rose oil, for instance, is of the most exquisite fineness, there is no harsh note in the scent or anywhere in the drydown, the whole thing is as smooth as silk. It’s sweet but not aldehydic or cloying: no headaches, no sour notes or spice, but a symphony, with rose and lily of the valley at its heart. Reading Luca Turin’s review I have to agree with every word, my nose is telling me some serious money must have gone into this. It's exceptionally good. Cost is a factor in buying a full bottle of - as it’s now marketed - “Amouage Gold” - but I’ve really enjoyed playing in the sandpit of the Gods by wearing it. I've tested various quality Middle Eastern scents and also quality rose scents, but this is glorious. If you like rose scents or Middle Eastern musky/woody florals, this is for you... 10/10 :)

What a pleasant surprise! I bought this perfume as I found a fabulous deal - and it’s particularly hard to catch this one at discounters or even at retail within department stores. From all the reviews I was expecting a very retro, vintage, dare I say “grandma” perfume - I didn’t get this at all! This smells like a deeper, sexier Dia 40. It smells clean and soapy (yet it’s not powdery), it reminds me of freshly washed skin which has been moisturised in expensive lotion. The civet notes gives it depth and combined with the sandalwood in the dry down, I find it very sexy. I get why people have mentioned retro, it does have Chanel no.5 vibes. However, this has a cleaner, fresher and timeless quality to it. It is also no where near as heady and thick as typical perfumes of the 80s. I’m in my twenties, I usually love gourmand sweet fragrances - however I LOVE this. It’s sophisticated and timeless. Don’t be put off by the comments, if you appreciate perfumery and have a experienced good nose - you will love this. Also bottle is stunning!

Gold is nothing like Chanel no 5. It’s from the same family of fragrances but it’s a totally different scent. Making such comparisons can be very misleading and discouraging for those who were thinking of trying Gold but don’t like Chanel no 5. I only discovered Gold in Autumn 2011 and fell in love with it. But it wasn't love from the first sight let me assure you about that. Upon initial spay in Selfridges my reaction was pretty much like: no way Jose, this one is not for me. I was glad actually as it meant money saved not spent. Unfortunately for myself I received a sample of Gold when I bought Dia. And one evening I spayed it on my wrists again. After the champagne-fuzzy state, and the soapy state it turns into soft, cosy warmness. It 's a perfume that's hard to ignore, it will wrap you in its veil and slowly turn you into its true admirer. So remember: If you spray Gold and immediately sniff it will most likely overwhelm you. Be patient with Gold remembering the old saying: the best things come to those who wait.

Oh yeah. It’s a very heavy aldehyde opening. Unmistakable, old-school, “classic glamour.” You’ll probably associate it with your mother’s perfume (except, god, if you’re sufficiently young your mother probably wore Poison or something.) There’s also – sometimes but not always – a different note in the opening that smells like bug spray to me. (Not a bad thing in my book.) That’s the first half hour or so. Then, I get a lot of zingy, golden, sharp scent, so blended I can’t place it, maybe the sandalwood or frankincense. Like a ray of light. I love it. I may have a less sensitive nose this week, but I only get about three hours of longevity here, at least as a full “perfume”. The rest of the day, it’s detectable, but only barely, an incense-and-woods sort of hum at the skin. I’m a fan. I regret that I didn’t have enough in my sample for me to really figure out more of the complexity, but something is clearly working for me here. Gold is queenly. No sweetness, just radiance and authority.

A wonderful creation, and one of the handful of "luxury" perfumes I've tried that feels worthy of the price of admission. Gold opens with a powerful blast of smooth aldehydes and lush white floral notes, but the overall impression is extremely elegant. Think creamy milled French soap and waxy, fresh-cut lilies. The drydown is truly exquisite, however – a warm, velvety mix of civet, powdered musk, and myrrh. While the projection is excellent, the effect is never overpowering. Gold definitely has a glamorous, old school perfume-y vibe, but doesn't smell dated in my opinion. There's a well-blended quality and balance to the overall composition that appeals to more contemporary sensibilities – for instance, it's noticeably less shrill or "cat pissy" than Chanel No.5, and smoother and more resinous than Patou's Joy. While grand, Gold also doesn't feel cold or impersonal. The plush base melds into skin, proving that at its core, this particular Amouage really does possess a heart of gold.

My first Amouage, bought blind and it’s a beauty ❤️ This does lean very femme to my nose on my skin. But it’s all about tastes. So beautiful. One spray on my arm (I’m contrasting it against a few other scents today) and it just lifts off my skin. Clearly discernible. Perhaps the most beautiful LOTV accord I’ve ever encountered (so many left to meet) gentle, yet resolute. No shrieky, nose stinging here. Wrapped up in spices and resins ever so softly. I expect soap from the LOTV and it sinks into Amber. Switches back to powder and teases me with rose and spice. All swirling around. Enchanting. Classic. Kaleidoscopic. Definite and yet mysterious. Feels like an adult scent. Ageless but all grown up. More femme than masc (but skin chemistry will work it’s magic). Perfect for work or an event imho. Save nothing for best - everyday should be a celebration. Even cold winter days, sipping tea, cooking soup and wearing slippers with your hair in a ponytail, like my today.

This is just sublime - I am not surprised the Guy Robert thought it was his opus rex tremedae because it is everything a scent should be . Opulent, rich, velvety with excellent sillage . I don't get the 120 "natural ingredients " thing - all modern scents are made of manufactured molecules of some description because the perfume police have put the brakes on many natural ingredients which can be carcinogenic - anyone who reads a good book on perfumery will be aware that "natural" ingredients are a rarity and probably with good cause. Anyway, Gold has been my signature scent for some time and I never get tired of telling people what it is as it is much admired and their gasps when I tell them where to find it and how much it costs - if you can't afford , then don't ask ! I think some of the people who don't like it , can't afford it and therefore convince themselves that they hate it - what's to hate apart from the cost ?

First Amouage I really tried, not just sniffed in a hurry. "Well, hello mother! Dear aunties, always a pleasure!" Good old fashioned aldehyde floral with a dirty drydown. Or as some people would say; hairspray, powder and old lady's funk. Well, my mother smelt like this when I was little and she was definitely not an old lady back then! Or funky. We live in over senitized society and most of the historical perfumes have long lost their inner animals. Not this one! This is sooooo dirty! I always liked the proper and the dirty play, all civilized and well mannered and animal in the sac. Public and private, disclosed and hiden. And this one is a hidden gem. I suppose it was old fashioned even when it came out. Amouage were never an exemple of the originality, but they are of the quality. Gold is a safe choice if you want vintage aldehyde but without a bad surprise when you open it.

A glorious floral explosion, propelled by an aldehydic constellation of star-bright molecules. The florals are impossible to untangle, and why bother? I love the effect, the dewy deliciousness supported by a cloud of powdery orris root shot through with shimmering Frankincense and Myrhh. Really, this is a celestial event. It does remind me of other fragrances (Joy, Chanel No 5) but its classical DNA only adds to its charms. After an hour with Amouage Gold the powdery-floral-incense experience deepens with woody cedar and sandalwood grounding and providing a balanced, rounded, fully realised operatic scent. Its superb. It wants for nothing. I've just bought Jubilation 25, so my two 5 ml samples of Gold will have to satisfy. I feel as sleek as a well-fed cat with this radiating from my wrists. Definitely a luxurious perfume! Amouage Gold has a sumptuousness that had me compulsively sniffing for hours. You can tell that there are many, many ingredients incorporated into this creation because each adds a layer of complexity. There is an underlying accord that is exotic - probably the frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood. It is so opulent, I think it is more of a special occasion scent. Due to the aldehydes, I can understand the comparisons with Chanel No.5. But where I respect and have studied the latter, I want to wear this. There is a sheer aristocratic feel to this scent. The sillage was a little over arms length, and it lasted all night on my skin. Even the late stages of the dry down were satiny smooth and gorgeous. Extraordinary fragrance . . . a perfume I would wear out on a winter night as the "piece de resistance" for an elegant ensemble.

Wow-this makes me feel like a grown-up. OK, I'm 47, I should be grown up by now but this is a beautiful mature womanly fragrance. This is sensual and exotic, Marlene Dietrich in her prime. I agree there is a very striking initial resemblance to Chanel no. 5, but it doesn't last long and changes to a slightly spicy, slightly smoky, slightly sweet smooth honey. This refined note doesn't quite hide the sensuality of the animal underneath though, its like passion waiting to be expressed, all the intrigue of a secret romance culminating in a night to remember. There is a hint of Mitsouko in there towards the end, a sort of darker melancholy as the powder fades. Its warm and beautiful. Longevity is not great on me, but I admit to spending several hours with my nose stuck to my wrist and probably hoovered up all the molecules very quickly....

Classic beauty, unadulterated. I am testing Amouage Gold Cristal, a decant of the original vintage from the Perfumed Court. According to their site it has notes of "rose, jasmine and lily of the valley combined with apricot, lime and peach, silver frankincense, myrrh, orris and rock rose of the desert. On a base of ambergris, civet and musk. Amouage Gold Cristal is an Eau de Toilette but wears like a parfum." This has a striking similarity to Faberge Flambeau, a discontinued classic launched in 1955. Sparkling rose supported by crisp flowers and greenery, silkened with peaches and orris on a luminous amber-wood base. I don't typically wear rose/peach fragrances, but this definitely has a place in a classic wardrobe. Clean, sophisticated, golden, smooth and luxurious. Amouage Gold in all its finery is easy to love.

Amouage Gold - what an amazing fragrance!I I purchased a very, very expensive tester bottle after receiving a free sample in the mail. Did I mention how expensive that tester was? But the scent was incredible! Opulent and over the top intense, I imagine beautiful women in a harem applying this lovely fragrance in the hope of becoming the sultan's cherished favorite. Amouage Gold is 1001 nights on steroids! I can't recall any specific notes of the scent, only that it was powerfully strong and lasting. No fading flower, this fragrance stayed put. My bottle is empty, and I can't justify the expense of getting a new one. And there's also the fear that the fragrance may have been changed. Although, how Amouage could possibly be improved is a mystery. Amazing back story at the top of this page, btw.

regarding Tara c review, Incorrect the frankincense is 1000percent authentic. Amouage standards are higher then most. These perfumes and attars are gifted and bought the the most elite. For this reason and pride in the elite family owned company it will not ever bow down to delutions. True quality. Regarding frankincense; The frankincense in Amouage; Oman has the best in the world. farms are owned by the exclusive family who owns Amouage. The Frankincense in Amouage is 100% authentic and also of the most superior quality as is any other ingredients. Never has there been delution or reformulation. By no way is the post about reformulation possible. Only thing that comes to mind is the person who wrote such a claim, bought a knock off and to avoid buying from that source in the future.

Gold Extrait 1.7oz 2014 bottle. All that glitters is GOLD. Amouage Gold Extrait sits close to the body than the EDP. It opens with a large, rich lilly of the valley note. Its contents are rich, well blended with the rose as support to the LOV. Silver Frankincense and Myrrh envelop the florals and stay dominant letting you know this is an oriental from a far off land. It incense reminds me of the same note in Opium. Jasmine hug the incense, but in the Extrait the oriental nature takes over Vs the EDPs Aldehydes and Florals. Its a rich cloud of an exemplary oriental floral. Both worn together is magic... Guy Robert has a signature accord that is found in his first composition Lasso, Madame Rochas and here in Amouage Gold. I like to layer it with Lyric.

Floral aldehydic musk. Majestic beauty. Haven’t tried the vintage versions but the current one is not bad shape. It’s such a perfect fragrance while Gold Man is a tad pissy, overbearing and animalic this is delicately balanced with such poise to be honest as a man I’d rather where this because it’s just much more versatile and easily a signature while Gold Man does require quite the occasion and a slightly pompous yet dignified stance to pull off. I’ve tested quite a few in the genre need to try Acne Studios and FdB’s Heritage but so far this is the best easily beating Pikovaya Dama and Chanel No 5, No 22 and La Pausa. To put it simply this is quite high on my wish list for now. Four months later: Got this beauty... A personal favorite from Amouage.

First sniff is very soapy scent...and a little bit sour...IMO there are many better classic and formal scent above agres 40. (For example Clive Christian No 1. ).This house was never my favorite one, the one that I love is Lyric woman. But I'm trying... Edit: after one hour will be good, a real beautifule classi and elegant, high quality scent! Edit II: Today I went to an art exhibition and I sprayed my Amouage Gold sample-thinking it’s not so important ocassion but I have nice and elegant clothes so I need some elegant and good sillage parfum. Woow....it was wery-wery compliment glitter!!! I never thought that parfume can get so many compliment in one hour... well my opinion has changed. I needed time for this fragrance but now I love it!😘

This parfum is to die for. It is the best in the world. So rich smelling and so feminine. I have the small sample bottles, and I must say they all work with my chemistry. Dia is very nice also, but Gold, oh how lovely. Gold, the whole world longs for it. I see why they named it Gold now. There is nothing else that compares to it. You must get yourself a sample to try. As always, I say try before you buy. Being this is made in the womb of the world where they know how to conjure up the best of concoctions, this elixir would turn the head of any king to see whom was smelling so heavenly as she walked on by. Dare I say that king would be at attention to this fragrance :)

Sample n. 5 from my sample set. The first Amouage I fell in love with (I sincerely hope there won't be too many since I tend to buy everything I love). When I tried Dia and liked it, I already suspected Gold would be more my cup of tea. Gold has the same elegance as Dia, but the civet makes it much warmer and sexier. I personally don't have any problem wearing it to work, but I see why people think of it as an evening fragrance. It's a perfume that smells better when the skin is warm, bare and just a little sweaty (as when dancing in a crowded room). Gold to me is a must have, a weapon of seduction like the perfect dress and the perfect heels.

Rich, opulent floral with lots of class. Not to be worn by the faint of heart. Should be worn with head held high, with self-assurance, royalty-like. There's a little princess in every woman being the special creatures that they are. This fragrance seems to salute the special place women of all races hold in the hearts of all who love them. Reminds me of Chanel No 5, L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci and Arpege by Lanvin. Would normally wear in the evening or special occasions but I'm feeling kinda special today. Thank heaven I can't detect the civet.

This is absolutely perfect! I did not want to try it cause some said its for older women, so i thought it may smell oldie, but no no this absoultely magnificent scent! My top one, thank god for arabs cause their parfums are liberTed from moss scents and they make it so nice that i dont get headache. This is the best parfume by far! No vanila no sweet stuff that gives headache , just perfect fresh flowers so nicely balanced but with silage and strength, its noticable but i cant imagine a person who would not like it:-)

Gold Woman 🌞 Bright aldehydes - rosy resins This opens up with a dose of beautifully blended aldehydes and roses. And smooths down to a slightly powdered rose resinous delight. It is mature smelling. But masterfully blended. The aldehydes calm down after the initial spray and you can detect a the beautiful rose 🌹 emerging. In the background, there is a bit of the myrrh coming through and a bit of white florals and amber. Very regal and sophisticated. Lasts forever. And very projecting.

7/10. At first did not really like. Nothing bad, but did not live up to my ‘gold’ expectation. High pitched, intricate floral narcissus. Natural scent, a younger denser version of the Dior Maison line. A fine sculpture or art work. Not super creative, but timeless like the Mona Lisa. I still like Blossom Love more because even though it is less balanced/refined it is more cheerful. Downgraded from 7.5 to 7/10 because after 10 hours too powdery with primary note of annoying aldehyde.

Beautiful homage to the OG powerhouses like Caleche, Climat, No5, etc. Sparkly and soapy lily-of-the-valley tampered with powdery rose, smoky incense, and animalic facets that give the impression of warm and slightly musky skin powdered within an inch of its life. I'd wear this all seasons except summer, this requires temperate or cold weather to be appreciated. Projects immensely like most of the Amouage scents I own, lasts all day on skin and days on clothes.

I finally own this, and I never dreamed it would be in the gorgeous vintage mosque bottle! There is quite a difference, between the current & vintage version. When I'm done with my swooning through a cloud, I will write a proper comparison! Lets just say its richer, fuller, & has had it's poor heart ripped out. Shame. It feels like there's buttery ylang ylang in here, but it could just be vintage aldehydes playing tricks on my nose.

This feels vintage, classic and timeless. Rich and opulent, pure gold indeed. Gold woman develops great on my (male) skin, and it feels unisex (I got this from the 45 sample Amouage discovery set). Long lasting and amazing sillage. This really feels at times like its Gold Man counterpart. The Civet, Musk, Sandalwood combo in the deep dry down is amazing and lasts forever. Great for the cooler times fo the year, especially at night.

It reminds me of Amouage Dia, but a bit stronger. Sounds rather rich, classical and maybe a bit too serious, even retro, but I like it very much. Update: after years of owning this perfume I have never been bored with it. The lesson has been learnt: you have to be in a proper mood, place and weather to wear niche perfumery. This one feels like gold and you better wear it accordingly

Amouage Gold, another "classic" that s not for me.. it reminds me, sorry gals, of TOSCA by Muelhens from the 70ies..bah..so many chemical flowers I was getting unwell, it even gave me sneezes through it s aggressive sharpness in the beginning. Later on the aggressiveness vanishes and leaves some undefinable chemical flower scent. I can not give it one star out of five.

Gold sparkles. It evokes champagne and long chiffon dresses and opera house foyers. It is warm and rich, with myrrh and incense sitting right at the top. This Amouage doesn't change much on my skin over time, with only the incense growing more prominent as in a lot of other Amouage scents. It's the scent I imagine lingering in costumes used in performances of Nabucco.

To define this scent i would say it is a glorious floral explosion, propelled by an aldehydic constellation of star-bright molecules. The dewy deliciousness supported by a cloud of powdery orris root shot through with shimmering Frankincense and Myrhh. It also reminds me of L' air du temps, Chanel No 5 or Chanel no 19. This one is gem which I'm glad I own it!

Amouage Gold (1983) - diamonds, champagne and royalty - #guyrobert ‘s perfume is so luxurious fit for royalty. Indeed he spared no expense and you can smell it. It starts off with beautiful white florals and rose with a backbone of omanese incense, myrrh and musk. It’s like visiting a palace with all this grandeur surrounding your senses. Masterpiece.

Gold Woman is real clean and crisp. Its beauty wide awake. If we are going to look for perfection in absolute form of Gold Woman, I strongly recommend Extract. Yes its 50ML. But the amount used is a lot less. and the scent is just that much more perfected. A little more smoke and just a dream. Very very much the scent of a pretty woman.

Frankincense Chanel No. 5 (Gold extrait to Chanel No. 5 extrait). An attempt at a description. The Chanel is more powdery to me, brigher, more white and / or yellow floral, while in Gold I feel more rose. Gold is to me "colder" and almost icy, and the Chanel "warmer" and sweeter. I love them both.

If anyone in the US wants to try this one out, I’m in NJ, if you’re in the NE, I’ll send u a sample as a gift. But I’m selling my bottle so ask now or it will be too late. It’s a beautiful perfume but I have almost 500 perfumes, it doesn’t get any love.

This is very nice....Fast forward to Amouage Gold Extrait WOW smokey flowers of a superior dimension. I was ok with gold...Gold Etrait is unbelievably a beautiful. A very dreamy floral. A must try even for non floral perfume friends.

Long lasting, intense and mysterious. I have to be in the mood for this, but when I am, it feels very good and sexy. Very deep and warm smell. Recommended for: Fall/Winter. Lasts on my skin: 6 hours. 8/10

So beautiful, despite the over the ostentatious bottle. On me it's all about the warmth and softness. Just so lovely, and so long lasting, clinging to me on a hot, hot day. Just gorgeous.

This is a voluptuous, unrestrained Chanel no. 5. The florals are more plush. The amber base growls. I wish I could have smelled the original formulation as it is till gorgeous now.

Actually, after I own Samsara, I realized these 2 are so similar. Great white floral + rose + sandalwood structure.

A stunner. Leans feminine but I still think a man could wear it. Performance is wonderful. Worth every penny.
