Lineage

When I want to get an interesting and unique fragrance with an outstanding performance, Amouage is my go to brand. The way they compose their perfumes is so artistic, the inspiration sources behind their fragrances are intriguing or dreamy and the results are always impressive. Case in point, Lineage. Looking at the notes listed, it doesn’t appear to have any mineral, salty or aquatic notes. It appears to be composed mostly around spices, resins and balsams. But according to the description, Lineage was inspired by the shores of Masirah, an island off the east coast of Oman. I see that geographic reference reflected perfectly into the way Lineage smells. I am instantly reminded of summer, seaside and ocean air. Smells bright, very aromatic and mineral but not the typical fresh scent! It gives me serious luxurious spa vibes. So, quite far from the generic summer freshie that can be bought from any brand nowadays... The opposite side of this, the other significant facet of Lineage is a very warm, balsamic, incensey one. The two types of pepper and the ginger are not necessarily prominent on me, but I can definitely detect a bit of spice in the blend. I am not familiar with any of the fragrances listed in the reminds of section, so I can’t comment on the resemblance to any, but I own a couple of aquatic and/or marine scents. Nothing that I own is similar to Lineage. For me, as a summertime fragrance, this is unique. It performs very nicely as most of Amouage scents do, long lasting but with moderate silllage. I can see Lineage becoming my go to scent for days spent in the South of Europe at pool or seaside. I don’t think it will suit everybody’s taste, it’s not a vanilla scent after all, but it’s a very pleasant perfume that will make you stand out because of its uniqueness. Also, the colour of the bottle, that pastel sea foam green, fits perfectly with the juice inside!

This is probably one of the most atmospheric fragrances I’ve smelled from Amouage. What surprised me most is how misleading the note pyramid feels. Looking at the notes, I expected another dense, resinous, incense-heavy Middle Eastern fragrance — something dark, smoky, and traditionally “Amouage.” But this is something entirely different. Lineage smells ethereal: calm, meditative, slightly nostalgic, almost ephemeral. It opens fresh and airy, and almost immediately you get this strange combination of dry sun-bleached woods, soft incense, salty air, algae, and coastal vegetation. Oddly enough, there are no officially listed aquatic or marine notes, yet the fragrance smells undeniably connected to the sea. Not in a fresh blue-aquatic way, but like nature near the coastline. It reminds me of heat-scorched dunes before reaching the beach. Dry grass bending in the wind. Driftwood washed ashore. Pine trees growing on rocky cliffs. Iodine-rich sea air. Salty algae drying along the coastline. And somewhere through all of this, incense quietly drifts like smoke carried by the wind. That contrast is what makes Lineage so fascinating to me: it feels dry and moist at the same time. Woody, almost powdery, mineral, yet also humid and alive. The olibanum is beautiful. The myrrh stays more in the background and is probably responsible for some of the salty earthiness and subtly otherworldly feeling, without ever disturbing the calm atmosphere of the scent. Despite all these moving parts, it never feels loud or heavy. It feels grounding, introspective, and completely unisex. This smells like solitude. Like walking the dunes along the shoreline in a meditative state on a hot day, alone while waves crash in the distance and wind moves through the grass and trees. I wore Lineage this morning, but didn't get a chance to write a review. I hope I can come back another time, but if I don't, I want to say something now. It's my favorite out of the collection. I don't know if this is true but it seems as though this collection is all about dichotomies. This fragrance in particular. If you are going to remember something from anything I say, please remember this. Give this collection at least 8 to 12 hours per fragrance before you decide if you like it or not. Every time, I went to bed thinking each fragrance was only OK, and then I wake up and it smells completely different. They are beautiful. Each fragrance has their own unique evolution that is extremely hard to explain in words but when you experience it, it's hard not to purchase it. Please just give them time. Try them out and don't expect typical bullshit. Obviously Guidance is borderline. It's my least favorite out of the entire house. And for Guidance to be the worst, that is setting a high bar. Because that fragrance is not terrible. Anyway. I have about 28 more to try and I'm pretty excited. I don't know why I stayed away for so long from Amouage other than the fact middle Eastern concoctions used to be very heavy. As I mentioned earlier my favorite types of fragrances are aromatic which is the complete opposite. Now that I know they have a wide variety of styles, I am going to take a deep dive. The magic does not happen until after it sits.

This is my first time trying out an Amouage fragrance, and I am extremely impressed. It’s quite rare that an incense heavy scent is suited for warm weather, but this seems to be the exception! I’m also not a fan of patchouli usually- my skin really tends to amp it and if I don’t want to smell like a hippie store I have to be careful, but this is so well blended that the patchouli is barely noticeable except as a base for the incenses. Oddly enough, about halfway through the dry down this starts to smell like maple syrup, but not in a weird or unpleasant way. Somehow it just works. I don’t get much of the pepper notes except at the very beginning of the wear time, but I definitely get the incenses, patchouli, and vetiver. At the very end of its life, I get a slight hint of petrichor, but it’s not listed here, so maybe it’s just me. This is quite long lasting- I get about nine hours with it, with reasonable silage. It’s not a close range scent, but you’re not going to scentbomb the room with it if you’re wearing normal person sprays of it. This would probably be too delicate for a cold dry day, but for the other seasons- particularly if you live in a warm climate, this is a great scent. I think this is going to have to be my next major perfume purchase in a full bottle. I do find this scent quite feminine, despite the vetiver, but the right guy could probably pull it off too.

Whenever I start to question the direction Amouage has taken—leaning toward more approachable releases or reinterpreting familiar DNA in the Amouage style—I think about perfumes like Silver Oud, Royal Tobacco, Purpose, and, of course, Lineage. All of them were created under Renaud Salmon's direction, and all of them prove the brand hasn't abandoned its willingness to take risks. Lineage is undoubtedly one of the strangest and most challenging perfumes Amouage has ever released. It feels as if you're a sailor in the medieval ages, caught in the middle of a violent storm. The salt from the sea has soaked into the ship's old, weathered wood after months of relentless waves. As the storm finally breaks with the morning light, the cargo has been scattered across the deck. Burnt spices, warmed by the sun for hours combined with the sharp mineral salt that clings to every surface. The result is haunting, windswept, and unlike almost anything else in perfumery (besides a couple notable ones like zoologist squid and profumum Roma’s acqua di sale, although lineage only has a tiny resemblance to both). Lineage is weird. It's unforgettable. It probably won't get you compliments....it might even earn you a complaint. But it's a true niche perfume, completely uncompromising in its vision. And that's something most fragrances can never claim. (Wearing at time of review)

I am utterly obsessed with this! I’m sure the freshness reads as summery to many, but living in NorCal, where our autumn is a glorious mix of warm sunny days and gloomy rainy ones, this is my new autumn staple. I sniffed this for the first time almost two months ago at the Ala Moana Neiman’s because I loved the bottle. I was overcome immediately with all manner of positive emotions. I requested a sample and after wearing twice I knew I needed to own it. It now holds pride of place in my collection. For any Lovecraft fans out there, this is Innsmouth, or Kingsport - seaside rituals at night, stone platforms, burning incense and resins swirled into the air by fresh, chilled ocean breezes. If you’re repelled by this fragrance you probably don’t have any Deep Ones in your ancestry. 🐟🐸🐙😂 If I had to choose just one perfume to represent Pisces it would be this. So my esoteric ramblings might steer some to give this a try, especially if those descriptions resonate with you. Side note: I haven’t sniffed Ashore yet, but it’s on my list for my next perfume sniffing extravaganza in mid-December in San Francisco.

The omani resins here are beautifuly mixed with the spices but you don’t really fell it like a spicy fragrance. I totally agree that it smells as the description and the pictures use it for the promo and I don’t know who tho explain that. I get the travel size to try it and the next day I took the full bottle, it could be a blind buy without hesitation. I really love the whole collection is more playful than the usual Amouages, but it keeps the brand in a way, I don’t like to give tags to the smells but this one even if is in the feminine collection I find it more in the manly side. The performance is really good but the fragrance doesn’t really evolve, the dry down is very similar to the opening. Is churchy but not really, is leaning on the bakhoor side but not completely. I found this and Purpose as the perfect everyday fragrances that you can totally rock for a night event if is needed, it works for all seasons and even if everyone agree that might be a summer fragrance give it a try in the colder weather and you will love it.

What a unique scent! This smells like straight pepper on first spray then drys down to a marine, salty, incense blend - which whilst sounds awful - but it just works! My favourite thing about this perfume is the smell after 3-4 hours, it develops into a vanillic seaside fragrance. Not sure I agree that this is a summer fragrance, I think the insences are way too heavy and spicy for high heat - it works really well in the winter. Longevity is fabulous lasts on hair and clothes for days. Sillage not as great, but people who have come to hug me have smelt me and despite how weird this fragrance is, it does always get a compliment - typical Amouage. Only issue with this is that I'm not sure where to wear this - its not quite suitable for work, not sexy enough for date nights, not pretty enough for brunch/errands, not tame enough for inside the house - its quite an oddity. Its beautiful but I'm still unsure if its full bottle worthy. I feel like sometimes the most lovely scents just collect dust if they aren't versatile enough...

The only modern Amouage which I adore, probably due to the fact that Karine Vinchon Spehner has been working with the company for a long time and thanks to that succeeded fusing old traditions with the new creative direction (towards winning over the crowds). Lineage is a meditative yoga scent to me, introspective, introverted while also chic and different. I am confused why it's not more popular than it is, and can't help but wonder if it's only the fact that Guidance came out at the same time. It's a highly resionous mineral perfume evoking salty rocks, fresh mineral breeze and cooling incense smoke. Makes me think about doing yoga on top of the rocks next to the ocean. Since doing just that is out of my reach, I prefer to wear it on hot summer days when I tend to feel anxiety induced by the heat. It calms my nerves and makes me feel like an it-girl, no matter how far away I am from being one.

I’m rewatching True Blood these days. It just hit me the other day that Amouage Lineage smells like Eric Northman from the series. 🖤 There’s a scene where the main character, Sookie Stackhouse, says to Eric (in a dream or a fantasy) that he smells like the memory of growing up at the coast of the Northern Atlantic ocean. (He became a vampire during the viking age). 🌊 And, yes, that is exactly what Lineage smells like. It opens with a salty, refreshing sea breeze and slowly warms up to a smoky, earthy resin and unlit incense scent. Raw and ancient. Weirdly distant and intensely close at the same time. 🩵 Yes, Lineage is Mr. Northman in a bottle. ❄️ I love this fragrance. The contrast between fresh/salty and warm/incensy is gorgeous. It's elegant, unique, but still very easy to wear. It has a medium strength, and the longevity is about 8-9 hours (on my skin).

Salty, dry, inky almost, resinous and spicy. My personal favourite out of the four new Amouage’s. For me, it opened stronger with salt and spicy ginger. Then, a note of very dry frankincense followed. At first, this reminded me of Amouage’s Meander, until the salt and spice completely brought it in a different direction. As it kept developing, it was very linear and the salty incense stayed prominent throughout eight hours of wear. This is quite enjoyable Update: I grow to love this more as I wear it! It’s odd that it’s combining resinous and beachy notes. Two things that shouldn’t go together, but do. It creates a unique dry yet fresh mouth feel. The waxy and dry olibanum with a salad-like freshness. The aquatic, mineralic notes with the sand, just amazing. And no, this isn’t like Bleu turquoise. That one is too sweet and almost murky.

I first smelt Lineage from the Scentxplore sample pack back in December of 2022, the scent memory it evoked was quite powerful and took me back to my childhood! I initially thought it smelled like (in a good way) the rotting oranges from my grandma's backyard and perhaps some sunscreen. As the sample macerated, I was a little bummed that Lineage (or at least my perception of it) changed to be more of the clean, spicy, sparkling, frankincense that I continue to get today. Lineage smells like you're burning or melting actual frankincense and myrrh resins, and lasts all day! It's not a heavy church-y incense; it's light, airy, spicy, and almost sparkling with effervescence. That's Quentin Bisch for ya! All of the scents in the Odyssey line are phenomenal, and Lineage is no exception!!!

I'm surprised that this is currently rated sub 4, but fragrance is always subjective. As you can probably tell, I am a fan of this creation as it's a unique aquatic, that's dream like; it's like salty clouds. To my nose this is 100% unisex down the middle. Semi-spicy aquatic with a nice incense note and reminds me a little of lyric man. This is not the type of fragrance that demands attention, it's more of a introverted curiosity that supplements your character. This strength of this fragrance is no slouch, but it's not the type of overwhelming fragrance that you hold everyone captive. Longevity is good, projection is good, and silage is good. This is a great fragrance for spring and summer. As far as sprays, less is more.

Extremely aggressive incense/aldehydic opening. It smells good, but there's the same bothersome note underneath which bums me out in Ashore. Some sort of synthetic ambregris chemical, although it's not listed for this one. My experience with ashore is that this note lasts eternally and never softens, so it just grinds me down over time. I'm still going to give this a chance, I could be wrong and I won't know unless I try. It's definitely firmly in the Salmon style for sure, but I'm glad he's still working with KVS, as she's responsible for the most magnificent perfumes I've ever experienced from the Chong days. Dans le Bleu Qui Pétille is a way more successful version of this idea, and came first.

@_fernmoss @ Ranya this is not by Bisch. His other one is Guidance. As Enar_smells_good describes it, this is a picture for the nose. Its meditative, calming and soothing. Absolute masterpiece. If you love resins get your nose on this one its amazing how the use of spices (especially the pepper and fenugreek) and resins can cunjure up this picture. I can feel the resins in this as individual notes and then it just moprhs and starts to tickle my imagination. Then it hits, sea, minerals and algae, as if your smelling rocks by the sea in a sort of historic or holy place. After first sample I ordered the full bottle. As a man I pull this off effortlessly, totaly unisex.

I think that the listed notes on this one don’t fully paint the picture of how it smells, the description is more accurate. For me Lineage is absolutely beautiful. I actually strongly prefer it over Guidance, which seems to be the more popular one. Lineage gives me the feeling of some sort of ancient temple by the sea. There is a cool breeze, but you also feel this mineral quality from the stones that have been warmed by the sun. There is incense burning in the distance, but it blends with the slightly salty, sea breeze. It’s just beautiful.

Lineage is a beauty. I can see how she may not be for everyone, since she doesn’t seem mass appealing. But if you’re a true fragrance enthusiast I think you’ll come to love to one. This is a salty incense fragrance that’s very soft, the incense vibe isn’t harsh at all. Reminds me of a New England beach in early spring, when you can feel summer is around the corner. Very elegant and well crafted. I feel transcended to a very pleasant place while wearing this. Might not be blind buy safe, but she’s a must try. 🩵

I love Lineage: for me, it’s one of the best creations Amouage has ever released. On my skin, it smells incredibly fresh, aquatic, and clean. I don’t pick up any spiciness at all, which honestly surprised me when I looked at the note breakdown. I would have never guessed those were the notes, especially considering how pure and fresh the fragrance feels to me. The longevity is excellent, and you really don’t need more than two or three sprays for it to perform beautifully.

Lineage makes me think of a summer spent on the shores of the Pacific Northwest. Salt water meeting forests of pine and douglas fir, warm sun and cold rocks. The incense is not heavy like some of their other scents- instead it gives it a clean, almost sterile facet much like Existence. That said, this is one those fragrances that you absolutely need to test before you buy- the spices may not sit well on your skin. I love this one, the quality is unparalleled.

Oh, this is my guilty pleasure. I tried and hated it but with more sprays comes something special!!!! So soft, so lovely, so unique. I’m from Europe and this fragrance moves me to my childhood- to old wood church and all smell in it: myrrh and smell of olibanum. I feel so safe and comfortable with it. Of course it’s my personal experience but after perfume move to base it’s become so beautiful!!! Like a smell of cloud!!

Woah, this stuff is weird. This is a very artistic release from Amouage that nobody talks about, and I love it. It’s super super inky, salty, and spicy, but the spice is super super mild and in the background. It smells like I got pulled out miles into the sea on a darky, rainy, and gloomy day with sea salt and squid ink accumulating on my skin throughout the journey. Very well done. Yes, it is really reminds me of Armani Bleu Turquise but Lineage is more on the feminin side and more wearable for me and less vanilla sweet. I like it better for myself but for my Husband fits better Bleu Turquise. The scent profile has mineral aquatic vibe and so easy to love! Lineage is on my whishlist for sping-summer! One more thought:this beautifule light turquise color fits very well to this scent!

If you do a google search for 'plein air painting with ocean and eucalyptus trees' - this is what Lineage smells like to me Mix of pepper tree and even gum trees waving in a slight ocean breeze on a bright early summer day. As it progresses, more marine notes come through just as you would imagine that the on-shore ocean breeze picks up in the afternoon. Unique scent. For relaxing on a weekend afternoon.

Looking at the notes and the “remind me of” section and I was skeptical. When I actually sprayed it then I have to concede. This is truly a marine scent. Certainly true about the Bleu Turquoise and Oud Minerale comparison but quite a bit way more spicy. Having those two wouldn't make this redundant but having this, there’s really no point in having those any more unless you don’t like spicy marine vibe.

Wildly underrated on this app. One of the few summery amouage fragrances. It wasn't a love on first sniff. Thought it smelled like salty sunscreen. But when I revisited it I began to appreciate how unique it was. It's really interesting how they make the different peppers combine with ginger to create this aquatic sunscreen note. Great performance. Dries down to a classic creamy amouage resinous blend.

This smells like the Mermaids in Pirates of the Carribean, can’t put it any other way. It’s cold, refreshing, probably the myrrh. Ever so slightly sweet. Sunbathing on a rocky shore. There’s something peppery akin to pencil shavings in here, but in the best way possible. Spicy. It’s so addicting it gives me literal butterflies. Give this a few minutes on the skin, it won’t disappoint.

It”s the most natural smelling Amouage Perfume in the last years! I’m addictid to Lineage becouse it is so wearable and likeble yet so unique! It has a mineral vibe that I love so much! In my opinion it is absolutely unisex, everybody can wear it, it’s like a well knowing loving hug! Thanks for this calming miracle!

Love this! It’s salty and aromatic, but there’s also a touch of incense. Unisex, leaning a touch feminine in my opinion. I’m getting vacation vibes from this, but not in that classic “hot sand + sunscreen” way. This smells like the lobby of an upscale seaside resort.

For the review below me. That’s exactly the point. It’s a seaside/oceanic marine mineral scent with incense and a little touch of funk underneath to keep it honest. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on this one. It’s very unisex. Will get a lot of run this summer.

This is so inviting to me. Spicy woods that I could wear all year. Some say for summer and spring. I enjoy this in the cold air with a roaring fire in the background. My favorite from the house is between this and Interlude Black Iris. Love both of them.

My favorite of the new Amouages. It's so fresh and peppery and uplifting but also relaxing, a great spa-type scent to wear when I do yoga. Makes me think of a trickling stream with rounded rocks. Now stop discontinuing my other favorites lol.

This is my favourite Amouage. I blasted through the sample in the discovery pack. Considering most people either dislike it or it’s a bit Meh for them, I’m hoping it gets discounted soon. So much better than guidance IMO

Lineage is absolutely beautiful. It’s not quite as shockingly unusual as the other perfumes I’ve worn by Amouage, but the quality is just the same. This is salty, aquatic, summery. Very pleasant and wearable. Gorgeous!

I quite like this one, and the reviews don't do much justice. It's a light mineral/oceanic perfume that blends well with incense. It does remind me of a lunch out in a cruise.

This is a nice unisex freshy. If you like Aqua Di Giorgio or Versace Versense you'll appreciate this. Its far from a girly sweet scent but very fresh and herbal like.

I TOTALLY GET THE BLEU TURQUOISE comparisson. There is something salty and mineralic about this. Maybe not as sharp as BT. Another great creation Amouage!! Bravo

Only Amouage can make an incense fragrance for summer. It's light, refreshing, and a literal interpretation of burning incense at your beach house.

I love it... it smells feminine to me

#459 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I've no experience with any of the "smells like" fragrances in the list, so I can honestly say this does not smell like anything I've encountered to date. Among the 471 scents I have previously trialed, this is completely unique. But I suspect that is mostly because I am not trialing scents intended for women only. I think this scent is completely feminine, not unisex, and I think the bottle itself is a flashing neon sign telling us that. It's not something I can pull off and I don't think many men will even want to try. But not a total loss for me. I have a delightful young friend attending college who wears really girly stuff like Glossier and Gritti. She's getting this bottle and will totally adore it. This is not a business world fragrance at all. Probably okay as a date scent, though personally, I don't find it attractive, but it's more something I would expect on a very young woman. As with every Amouage scent this has staying power. Projects from the skin for a couple of hours, and it lasts pretty much all day as a skin scent. Others are reporting it lasts beyond 24 hours on clothing and I can well believe it. If you've used any Amouage scent you know high quality is a consistent aspect of their fragrances. You'll have to be conservative in application or even this otherwise inoffensive scent will be too much in a close space. I do think Karine Vinchon Spehner deserves credit for combining elements that evoke an expectation of sweetness without actually being sweet. It's a neat trick that I wish more of her colleagues around the fragrance world would give a go as often my dislike of an otherwise great fragrance is a candy shop level of sweetness that I think detracts from all the other factors in play. Lineage is a spicy-amber scent with herbal nuances and some woodiness to the base. It is made of high-quality ingredients, as expected from Amouage, but it isn't a particularly unusual composition. It is very dry throughout, and improves as it develops on my skin - the balsamic amber base gives it body as it emerges. It is unusually light and airy for a scent of its profile, making it a good amber option for warm weather. Lineage opens with peppery spice alongside what resembles dried herbs. I get saffron initially, one of my favourite spicy notes, paving the way nicely to the balsamic amber base. Ginger follows, an underrated spicy note in my opinion, adding warm sweetness. It is very medicinal initially thanks to the herbal notes, reminiscent of a Chinese medicine shop. The amber accord comes to the fore as it develops, making this a more well-rounded scent, complementing the dry spicy-herbal opening nicely. I get some frankincense, one of my favourite notes, balsamic and slightly smoky. It is rounded out nicely by the myrrh, forming a rich, sweet amber base. The woody notes keep things quite dry, alongside the soft smokiness of the incense. It fades to a sweet, musky amber skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is unisex and transeasonal. A good-quality, lightweight example of its genre, Lineage is a pleasant spicy-amber scent that is ideal for everyday use. It is a very wearable spicy-amber scent - a nice update of a traditional scent profile for a modern audience. 4/5.

How a perfume can be so familiar and so unique at the same time? Anyways, I think one needs to try it in person, as the blend is so exceptional, you can barely pick up individual notes, and this perfume is not a precise depiction of those notes, but rather it stands there on its' own. It is comforting green and fresh, at the same time not very light, but rather resinous and even mineral rich. Like a a very spacious cave in a magical place in the seashore. Mineral you will ask? Yes, to me it sounds of putting, as I'm a gourmand lover, but wait till you try Lineage, it may change your mind. It is something green for those who don't love green perfumes, something aquatic for those who don't love aquatic, something resinous who don't love incense in their perfumes. Yet it is truly captivating. It smells like a person, who is confident and comfortable with who she or he (yes, I believe men could pull it off too), who is in touch with nature, self and the modern age at the same time. Also I do truly pick up some fresh bananas in there, I know it's weird but I love this nuance. It's is not a beast sillage-wise, rather moderate prijection. But it does last forever on your skin, which is amazing!

I get this spice right away — not sharp or fiery, but dusty, almost like a seasoning. It instantly gives me a vision of the desert, specifically red sand. It feels like walking through the desert in blazing heat, where the sun makes the air shimmer with waves. You’re parched, sweat rolling down your face, a little salt slipping into your mouth. It’s green but in a fresh, herbal way. There’s also something mineralic here, touched with salt, like rocks kissed by the sea. The scent paints another picture too: swimming by a beach lined with red rocks, the sunlight sparkling on the water, while salty waves crash and leave the dry stones damp. That dusty spice leads the whole experience, resting on a layer of salt and minerals. it doesn't really change much, but the scent itself is so captivating that I don't really mind it being linear. I feel this is the safest Amouage I currently own but I could find the dusty spices being a little off putting to some. This overall is a great summer fragrance for the salty mineral enjoyers out there

Perhaps the best use of fenugreek I have experienced in a perfume so far. The scent pyramid makes one expect a sharp resinous incense-y fragrance but, almost disappointingly, the olibanum is comparatively subtle, and the myrrh, rather than being dark or earthy, settles with the other ingredients almost powderily upon the skin - herein comes the femininity of the fragrance. A pleasant fragrance for anyone to wear, unisex with a feminine lean, a touch different to what the pyramid would suggest. The fenugreek is definitely interesting and blends very well with the sweet, powdery resins. Doesn't smell savoury to my nose, reminds me of a breakfast dessert from the coastal regions I grew up in. Layering this with an attar of frankincense is delightful, and really the only thing this fragrance is missing, a stronger hit of bright balsamic resins.

Testing blind (between the 4 samples) from the ScentXpore bag last fall, this cute sample set is great. While I waited to see them listed here, I'm glad to finally get around to testing them. Lineage opened up fresh and aromatic, with a top note of orange or more herd-like fresh citrus, but within moments a deeper and oud-like body came through from behind it. This supported rather than changed the opening, making it more deeper, masculine, and luxurious. I get a fresh and subtle spicy incense-like body which lingers throughout the day but lossing its top notes first and hanging around as an empty box of once soft and comforting incense sticks. Looking at the notes I'm surprised not to see more fresh notes that give it it's opening character. Interesting. Classic. Slightly mysterious. Very serious, but fresh.
