Love Delight

This is very interesting and growing quickly on me. For me not as simple as it initially appeared but also a departure for the house. Feels more like a Memo Paris fragrance. Initially on opening I got a buzzy orange wave of scent which was unsettling but quickly flowed into a gingery orange blossom type scent. At this point I felt it reminded me of Classique Essence for a few minutes. After trying them out side by side I can see similarities but they are ultimately quite different. The scent settled and gets more fluffy/creamy and weighty giving a certain amount of heft that is surprisingly long lasting - with a blurred floralcy (I can’t pull the notes apart) on a creamy woody structure. Deeper in the dry down I’m getting some interesting green notes floating on the sweeter vanilla and floral heart. Like crushed Ivy after you had a walk in the rain. It’s really adding interest and stopping it from feeling bland. I am definitely surprised to be enjoying it so much. It’s not as obviously sweet as the rest of the secret garden line, and not the bland, boring fragrance many are slating it as either. It’s a new middle ground for Amouage. Less gourmand but definitely gourmand leaning. I miss the more complex releases of the house but have still enjoyed the recent releases. I’ve snapped up many of the complex discontinued frags and have a few more to go. I can’t help but think the house may need to watch it doesn’t regress to the mean and lose its edge (differentiating points) to gain more market share. The price point already keeps it out of reach of many. If they keep heading towards the mass there may be a shrink instead. Few will pay such eye watering prices for designer worthy scents - given the constant price hikes we are seeing in the space (Rant over). I’m very pleased to have been given a 5ml decant as a birthday present and will enjoy this as we enter winter. But please Amouage, give us something truly unique and a hair challenging, in your upcoming releases.

Real review from someone who has had the fragrance and worn it non stop for a few days now. I am going to highlight the good and the bad so you can decide if it is worth having. So, let's go... The good: The notes described here on fragrantica are spot on. In the opening, you get ginger, rose water sprinkled with a tad bit of cinnamon. In that order. This fades out about 15 to 20 minutes in and it turns to the orange which remains prominent for about 30 minutes. Slowly, the sweeter notes enter the room and dance beautifully with the orange and the top notes take a subtle back seat. As all the notes mix, the scent remains unique, feminine and gorgeous. I would dare to say it is easily crowd pleasing! The bad: Do I think this one is over hyped a bit?? For the scent, no. It is gorgeous. For the performance, yes. It starts off strong, but just as the notes exchange places in the center of the stage, the performance also takes a step back. While it lingers just fine and I would not describe it as a skin scent, it is definitely more on the intimate side. That said, I can still smell it on my clothes the next day but only if I put it up to my nose. In summary: If you are looking for a gorgeous Flormond, look no further. If you are looking for something work appropriate and a day wear, this is your scent as it will not disappoint. However, if you are in the market for a beast mode scent that will introduce itself when you enter the room, this is not for you. All in all I am glad to have this in my collection. I love Amouage. I will compensate the intimacy of this fragrance with extra sprays because it is def what I was looking to add to my collection. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 6.5/10 Sillage: 5/10

Love Delight was love at first sight! This is the perfect warm spicy floral I have been seeking for autumn! Upon first spritz, I immediately detect bergamot (which is actually mandarin according to the notes) along with a warm and cozy ginger... This isn't like the sharp piercing ginger found in Hermes Twilly or JPG Classique, no. This is like a delicious ginger cookie, fresh out of the oven. Heliotrope with a sprinkle of cacao adds a powdery touch, along with a splash of vanilla and rum for delicious effect. A hint of rose and jasmine along with the heliotrope in the background provide a beautiful floral base which combine to create the most intoxicating, floral gourmand for the fall season. Love Delight is unique, unlike anything else I have tried. The closest two scents I know for comparison are Twilly and Classique, as mentioned above. But neither are creamy and as smoothly blended as Love Delight. It's the warmth of the ginger that makes all the difference. Performance with Love Delight is excellent. It lasts all day on my skin, and the silage is strong and enveloping, a testament to the legendary Amouage reputation. Love Delight has become an immediate favorite in my collection!

I understand why Guidance 46 is considered the best Amouage scent, and I 100% agree. It's literally the sexiest creation I've ever sniffed. But now every woman who can afford, smells (or want to smell) like Guidance 46, so I looked for something different, but an easily loveable scent. Love Delight is that type of fragrance. Don't expect a dense, deep scent like even the simple Guidance, this is an airier, a bit crowd-pleaser type, but still high quality. For the first whiff it catched my nose, and my mind. I truly love cinnamon, and upon spraying it, this is the first that hits you with mandarin. Cacao and rum deepens the flowery notes, but throughout the whole drydown it will be a lighter, less dense composition. And despite having heliotrope in it (which I have serious conflicts with), it's so well blended, that it didn't ruin the overall picture, just sweetened it with an almondy note. Longevity is not as close as 46, this is appx. 6 hours max., same with projection, but this perfume is not as syrupy as well, you have to accept that. My pocket is already scared as I'm looking at stores where I should purchase a full bottle from this :D

This is one of my favorite perfumes! Yes, it’s not as deep or complex or in your face as other Amouage scents. But, here’s what it is: wearable, pleasant, chic, effortless, versatile. This is as appropriate for the office as it is for a first or second date. It’s a scent that embodies ‘not trying too hard.’ This is easily signature scent worthy. Is it worth retail? Questionable. Is it worth getting at a deep discount? Absolutely. The actual scent opens with spiced mandarin, more ginger than cinnamon to my nose. I don’t get much jasmine or rose, but the heliotrope gives a soft floral powderiness. I notice the earthy cypriol more in the mid than the base. The cacao adds to the powdered aspect, but this scent never smells like chocolate. The rum and vanilla dry down gives this a sweetness that sometimes feels a little tropical. This is wearable in all 4 seasons. But, to me, it feels flat in cold weather. I prefer this is in spring, summer (evenings) and early fall. I get about 5 hours of good wear time with strong projection for the first hour.
