AMOUAGE LYRIC MAN Daniel Visentin 2008 And some words about Lyric Woman. This pair is a great example how you shouldn’t stare at the genders on the bottle. I would say that the both of them are totally unisex but at least Lyric Man is not more masculine than the women’s counterpart. I have written earlier a review of Woman like the comparison as well of an old formula vs the new one. Those are under Lyric Woman . Some words more of it (new): the more time goes by the more deep, dark, round and polished the juice is. The dark petals of the roses are easier to detect and the base is perfectly blended, the spices are still wrapping everything inside them. I love it more and more very time when I wear it. Lyric Man is a chameleon. When the weather is cold, it’s quite simple scent with citruses and roses and it feels very soapy. You may start to think that it’s feminine or “what a perfect scent for summertime”. But when the summer arrives and the weather gets warmer its personality changes. The whole scent is darker, more mysterious and more unisex. The base of Man smells familiar from Lyric Woman since they share all those 4 base notes which Man has (Musk, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Vanilla). The base creates complexity together with the spices but the overall aroma remains fresh - not exactly like in the cold weather but fresh anyway. Pine continues the freshly green aroma together with Galbanum and together they make a big difference between these two scents. Although the base does not achieve the equivalent complexity with Woman it’s enough to build a beautiful oriental Rose scent. It is simpler mainly because of there is missing the half of the base notes when Musk takes over and a refreshing citrus opening found in Man is enriched in W straight away with Cardamom and Cinnamon. The idea of Lyric Man is the same though: roses in a woody base with Amouage’s signature Francincense, everything covered in a spicy veil. If I describe the scent simply: In cold it's Roses with citruses in a clean musky base. In warm it's fresh spicy roses in distinctly oriental base. If you have been overlooking Lyric Man I recommend you to try it and make sure you experience it’s both amazing facets. Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. Call this Gold Man Lite, or Gold Man Evening. It's a masculine floral, much like Gold Man, although far more restrained I would say. Lyric Man focuses on rose, with an ample dose of musks to give a clean, soapy feel. Whereas Gold Man used white florals and aldehydes, and enough animalics for a zoo, among other things, to give the massively loud impression of a king parading through the streets with layers of flowers at his feet and petals thrown into the air in jubilation, Lyric Man is what that king would smell like at night, alone in his bedroom, reflecting upon and ending his day. It is far more relaxed and intimate than Gold Man, without being a wallflower (no pun intended), managing to be quite emotionally vulnerable yet confident. The hesperidic top notes are instantly detectable upon application and last for a good hour or slightly less, giving a green citrusy freshness, with the heart notes only just peeking through. The king is at the tail end of the day, energetic but winding down. Then the heart and base notes take full effect where the spices are not readily apparent, but the florals certainly are with them sitting on the very noticeable bed of white musks - the feeling of having just washed-up for the evening with a very classy rose soap, and relaxing. As it continues to dry down the woods, vanilla, and frankincense make their presence more known as if it's signaling the end of the evening and it wishes to soothe you to sleep, but yet those earlier energetic emotions have worn off and instead the perfume is creating this feeling of a sort-of psychological weight, contemplative and a bit sad or wistful. This is one of the most emotional and evocative, and complex, masculine rose perfumes I have ever smelled. It is much better than Crimson Rocks in this regard. Crimson Rocks is dark and brooding, but even dark and brooding can still emanate some sort of life, thought, and emotion - which it doesn't. That very important yet missing aspect is the lifeforce of Lyric Man. The regal elegance and profundity that Amouage is so very capable of is executed beautifully in this perfume, but that majestic nobility never distracts from very human vulnerability. I love it.

This is a comparative review between my bottle (2010) and a current sample. How did things change from when a Sultan was honouring his guests with the gift of kings to masstige? I will give you a very short answer comparing my bottle of Lyric man (2010) and the current iteration (sample). The bottle: The illusion of a single, sweet rose in the midst a dry hay-field, bracketed by piercingly dark, strong, green notes, but planted in sweet, dark earth and festooned with creeping tendrils of smoke. And, yet, also, the illusion of a green tunnel of light leading to a glowing, hidden rose in a peppery, woody world that is lightly tinged with vanilla and musk. Here the Sultan gifts us with rock rose (the other two gifts being frankincense and ambregris): The Omani Rockrose (Jabal Rose) is a unique, fragrant mountain rose (Rosa damascena trigintipetala) grown in Oman's Jabal Akhdar mountains, known for its distinct mineral, lemony, and floral scent, hand-harvested for perfumes and rosewater, contrasting with typical roses by thriving in high, cool altitudes and rocky terrain. This rose is Mineral, earthy, floral, with crisp, lemony, and cool notes. The key to understand the scent profile is to take into account the high dosage of angelica that works perfectly with galbanum and pine to give the greeness I was talking about above form where the rock rose emerges. The list of current notes lacks the mistle of the opening that in tandem with the bergamot so to contrast the summery zestines of the latter with the slightly camphoraceous greeness of the latter. At the edges of the rose, I perceive those special spices - ginger, nutmeg, and saffron - that makes the rose very oriental. A gorgeous soft musky base and an esemble of vanilla and a good sandalwood completes the scent. For the record: NO soapyness and no bubble-bath effect from my bottle. Fast forward 2023 and the luxury it is no more the gift of a king. We have a very woody scent full of ISO-E, abrasive and peppery, and just an abstact soft rose. Angelica almost disappear. Amouage's Lyric Man first came into my possession as a sample card that a kind Ebayer gifted me with the purchase of a decant from a completely different house. Two years since then, and with my sample well-finished long ago, I can only thank this kind person who first introduced me to the house of Amouage. During my continual search for the perfect rose–after Dior's Oud Ispahan, Montale's Highness Rose, Amouage's Homage and Tribute, Xerjoff's Zafar, and Malle's Portrait of a Lady–I remain haunted by this fragrance whose meaning has slowly revealed itself to me like the most cryptic and sacred poem, tinged with rose, pine, and musk. The debate over whether Lyric Man is feminine or not doesn't matter to me much. I will wear anything I like. With that said, the following association ends up reverting back to gender anyways: Lyric Man reminds me of smelling a young woman, fresh out of the shower, who is dressed in a light, flowing camisole and white cotton pajama shorts that do little more than cover a small part of her. She's on your bed, brushing her still wet hair. At some point, you sneak in to give her a kiss on the neck before she falls over, laughing. As you start to travel down her body, from the back of her neck, where you kiss her again, and down her back, your face eventually reaches the softest part of her. You inhale through the thin, white cotton. That's Lyric Man. How this association still permits me to spray myself with glee every time I visit the perfume counter is due to the fact that I don't mind smelling like I've laid in bed with anyone this sweet. One has to love the scent of fresh skin and intimacy. Bereft of the sultriness of romance, of wine and cigarettes and the night, or of mystery and libertarian indulgence, Lyric Man is for the poet who's now alone and ready to compose a few verses for his lover who he and the world can only smell as a memory.

Testing this for the first time today thanks to a generous decant from a friend. Without looking at the notes, here’s my first impression: I can see why it’s been compared with Rose de Jamal, although what stands out now are the differences. Lyric Man is less of a green-minty-fresh rose in the opening, and a bit spicy, almost like it has the tiniest and most pleasant dose of cumin. It then morphs into a somewhat powdery, almost yellow floral tinged beauty of a fresh rose in the mid. Not sweet, not jammy, very realistic. I feel like I can detect some mimosa and perhaps a tiny bit of orange blossom or neroli propping up that incredibly naturally smelling rose. I get some beautiful orris in the base, too. All in all, this is lovely and I’m enjoying wearing it so much. Speaking of Rose de Jamal, I had a chance to wear test it for a second time a couple of weeks ago when it was in the high 80s and 75% humidity. I sat outside for a few hours with it on and enjoyed it immensely. Rose de Jamal absolutely blew me away with how different it smelled than when I tried it in the winter and how much more I loved it. That bitter thing that happened on my skin in the drydown when I wore it in the winter...it didn’t happen at all when I wore it in high heat. And it bloomed (no pun intended) off of my warm skin, totally enveloping me in the most natural, green, rosy, intoxicating bubble. I have trouble with rose dominant perfumes— I’m very picky and I usually don’t like rose-patchoulis or rose-ouds or jammy roses— but I think the fresh, natural smelling, clearly very inspired Rose de Jamal will have to be my first bottle of a rose focused perfume yet. ♥️🌹

Lyric Man presents a philosophical meditation on masculine rose perfumery. What one might worry upon initial spray is that it smells dated or "old-lady" adjacent, but this scent quickly opens up to reveal the character embedded underneath—a dewy freshness supported by lime, vanilla-infused incense, and white musk. This is a scent for someone who appears fair and tractable with a shy, sweet smile—yet possesses an underlying shrewdness and wisdom that enables effortless charismatic banter. Like a cunning rose garden that charms with beauty while concealing thorns, Lyric Man balances tenderness with complexity. This is Amouage at its finest: challenging yet comforting, innovative while respecting tradition—proof that a rose-centered masculine fragrance can be both timeless and thoroughly contemporary.

An understandably somewhat divisive outing from Amouage. Rose is a touchy note when it comes to masculine fragrances. Some rose fragrances like Moschino's Toy Boy are much easier to pull off thanks to a spicier take but Lyric Man is a much different beast. While Lyric Man is not an all-out jammy, super sweet rose, it's got a very soapy opening which could remind many of a shampoo vibe and they wouldn't be wrong, that was my initial reaction back then as well. That said, as it dries down, you get a citrusy, much dryer rose which is more masculine but still reminiscent of a shower gel vibe, so yes, very clean and classy. This to me is probably be at its best dressed up and use sparingly. Indeed, while it may come across as delicate and clean, this is a surprisingly potent juice: more than 3-4 sprays will have you choking people out. It pushes out quite a bit for the first 2-3 hours then gets closer to skin but lasts for a good 10 hours on me. If I make it sound negative, it's really not. You just have to be ready to wear this with confidence because to the occidental nose, this will likely come off as feminine but rose is a very kingly and opulent note in Middle-Eastern perfumery (hence all the rose+oud fragrances). I've gotten many compliments from it but it has to be used sparingly and carefully. Probably not in my favorites from the house but in the right setting, this is a fantastic fragrance, worthy of the Amouage name. The price is quite high and comes with the name, but the blend is smooth and very well done if you compare it to say, Le Labo's Rose 31 which I find much harsher.

I am puzzled for I thought I had written a review for this already a few years ago when I first bought myself the travel set of all male Amouage creations, but it seems I haven't done so yet, or someone's deleting my stuff? Anyway, this is a very interesting rose for it is in my view a COLD ROSE. It is as if you cut a rose that just about had its bud opening and is therefore still a little bit green in smell. An unripe rose so to speak. The green element(s) of pine in the base, that instant burst of bergamot and lime with that leafy, herbaceous angelica is just like a cold summer rain, when you get home and realise that you've forgotten to close the windows prior leaving in the morning. The ginger, saffron and musk give it spice and a juicy, almost wet character, again emphasizing the cold, wet rose in the rain, that struggles to release its full throttle warm, deep, vanilla-rich aroma (as so beautifully captured in "Une Rose" by Frederic Malle). What I find most amazing about this "cold rainy rose" is that is seems incredible spacious. As if you enter a humongous room in an art gallery, an 'artelier' that gives you agoraphobia for it is so vast. It is almost like time stands still and you fall forward into a vast olfactory space. An incredible accomplishment of "abstract perfumery". This is no ordinary rose. This is a Picasso Rose or at least a Joan Miro!! 10/10 for achieving the unachievable: a COLD GREEN ROSE. Perfect for those warm, humid summer nights for this will cool you, like a cooling satin sheet of bed linen when you cannot sleep.

Lyric man was the best selling Amouage here in Thailand (we used to have a boutique here and it sells better than reflection) so I always excited to try this one as I love rose personally. This is actually easier scent to wear compare to other niche house. It starts with lemony blast the follows with fresh rose petal. It’s has the green edge on it. The lime aspect linger a while before incense (not smoke) kicking in. It presents but not very strong. Mix with middle note it’s become soapy clean scent. As we walk to the base, the vanilla is more prominent, musky clean with rose nuance stay with you all day. Longevity is not really good. But projection is quite dominant in first 2 phase. Over all, good and I think it’s buy blind safe for rose lover. It’s ok for the whole experience. But compare to other niche frags. This composition is a little bit basic. But it’s truly ok. 8/10 FB worthy as signature scent. (consider score from scent in niche realm) ===== Edit 1 : May 6, 2023 I am bidding farewell to Lyric Man. By no means it is a bad scent. I actually like this al lot. The finest Arabian prince material. I would be crazy if someone wear this at night. But.. this scents is just not for me. I prefers the rose interpretation in other manner either Latonic rose in JML, Clean rose in Prada, Dark rose from Noir de Noir or True Rose from Serge Lutens for myself. Musky Incense Rose.. just not something I will wear that often and it will eventually collect dust. But I hope I will encounter this on other guy someday. 😊

Genuinely such a beautiful rose fragrance that’s squarely unisex. I’ve worn it a couple of times and recently, I decided it was time to give my review on this fragrance. It’s clean and soapy, having a slight laundry quality to the profile that doesn’t detract from the rose itself. What you get is a green-leaning rose complimented by soft but bright citrus and grounded by an almost salty Angelica. I think the saline quality of it is what really harkens back to soap, transforming an otherwise plain and clean musk to something more aseptic in approach. I believe that it’s that exact quality that helps keep it fresh to the nose, steering the ship as it were along the fine line between soap and rose. It’s cool how the ‘Man’ counterpart of this duo leans cleaner than the ‘Woman.’ In terms of projection and longevity, I sprayed it on me at around seven in the morning. It was definitely strongest for the first 3-4 hours but then it remained a very present and persistent scent bubble past 12 hours since application. I kid you not, I had walked around with it to and from the office in the middle of the day and at night and that soapy, salty, rosy scent followed me until I called it a day and took a shower. I would get compliments but I get the most compliments and the best performance when I apply it dry and cool. Once it settles on your skin, it’s gonna respond well to heat! This will always deserve a spare and a refill so long as I wear fragrances!

Nose Note #893 I love the note of rose and I love when they manage to make a mens perfume with rose. Besides oud+rose combos I can practically only think of Toy Boy which I love a lot despite the consensus. Come Lyric Man and I immediately think "I've smelled this before". I'm getting reminded of Flower by Kenzo a lot! Idôle Lancôme, a little. Gris Dior, a little. Brompton Immortals, very very distantly. Oud Ispahan, it has been a while but I have a hunch that this was pretty similar. Coco Mademoiselle - similar citrus+rose+a lot of cream. All these mentions are intended to intensify the point that this smells very unisex to me with bits that are pretty feminine. This seriously smells a lot like Flower by Kenzo but with 30% less of the grandma powder. This postfix of "Man" is just marketing. In a blind test I'd never call this manly, but thanks to the marketing I'm more than happy to wear this with full confidence and feel romantic and lyrical. Toy Boy is more manly. One of the best things about it is performance. It lasts just as well as Toy Boy. Stays on clothes for days and so on. No crazy projection. One of my favourites from Amouage, actually. It's one of the most down to earth and average consumer-friendly of their offerings. 8.8/10, you got to love the rose note to enjoy this

Wow! Yes, wow... this might be the best thing I've ever smelled among aromatic roses. Why didn't I discover this sooner... It has both a wrapping warmth and a disturbingly otherworldly-cold feel at the same time. I'm also picking up something quite carnation-like in the scent, a slightly gummy and resinous floral quality. So it's not the kind I'd call a pure rose scent. This is a sophisticated spicy, dark floral. A little sweet too, but very slightly. Anyway, I haven't looked at the notes yet, I only know there's rose. There's also a spice weight similar to coriander. The fresh feel is still there. Even though the scent has a retro quality, in terms of the rose it's still close to modern. The best part is that it feels soapy. A lot of people don't like that but I'm very happy with this soapy feel. Now, looking at the notes I realized the citrus elements didn't really work on me, meaning I pick up the freshness more as green and stemmy. The spicy side is drier. I have no idea where or how I'm getting the soap, but it's something I'm absolutely sure of... This is a true unisex scent. Also ultra versatile, I could wear this in a dressy setting or daily, and it works for every season too. Longevity and sillage S-tier! Love. Tag(s): fresh, soapy, rose, spicy, baroque, stemmy

Lyric Man. This is a very calming scent — something that brings real inner peace. Someone wrote a great bedroom metaphor for it in a review: a fragrance with no rush, nothing to prove. It’s as pure and gentle as it gets. To enjoy this perfume, you really need to appreciate a true rose note. Even though rose is a familiar scent, most people only know the smell of roses from flower shops, where the blooms are grown for appearance and their scent is often boosted with synthetic sprays — so people think that is what rose smells like. Lyric, on the other hand, smells very close to the classic rosebud variety that’s famous in my country. It’s what a rose is supposed to be. I usually wear it after a shower, both in summer and winter, and it definitely adds something extra to my relaxation time. For wearing it outside, I agree with the idea that it’s best suited for confident men. Unfortunately, the belief that rose is “for women only” has damaged its image. But if you believe that a man can absolutely wear a floral fragrance, then you should definitely give this one a chance. By the way, if you’re looking for another relaxing perfume, I’d recommend Wūlóng Chá by Nishane.

If I were in a very bizarre alternate universe in which I was forced to choose the scent for my enema, I would choose this scent. I would release potpourri emanations around the girlfriend, and she would only think I've just bought a new, nice rose diffuser. On a serious note, I love this fragrance for several reasons. I love the opening and the rose is almost immediate, but there is also something fizzy going on. I pick up a nice jasmine/fruity note on the top (benzyl acetate) and it does have heliotropin. But it doesn't go too sweet, even with its vanilla. It's smooth, smooth, and this stuff, while not a projection monster, leaves a nice little bubble around you for a long time. It really sticks to clothing and the skin. What I appreciate about this frag is that I don't go nose blind to it. That, and it does not feel masculine to me despite the floral notes. In the mid, the cedramber comes out more prominently, but I never quite get the "scotch tape" feeling here that I get with other fragrances heavy on the olibanum oil. I think it's just so well blended that some notes are difficult to detect. Love this one, I think it will always be in my collection.

Lyric Man is definitely a safe rose for a man, in my opinion. Definitely safer than Toy Boy or Oud Satin Mood, for instance. I say it's safe because the rose isn't the least bit sweet or jammy and nothing else in this fragrance strikes me as feminine. There are a lot of clean musk in this juice--I'd be willing to bet 40% of this formula is musk, some of which are (detergent-like but in a good, high-quality way). You could scratch off nearly every note listed up above. Basically you're getting a clean-detergent, fresh fragrance with lime up top and a mellow rose heart that presents as a tinge powdery. Stays mostly linear and even the citrus top note is still there after an hour. However, as others have mentioned, the juice is kind of thin, especially for the price tag. Lyric Man feels like it could easily be a new Gucci fragrance in the Guilty line, with about the same uniqueness and performance. I'd still say it's an average performer if you're comparing it to a designer fragrance, which it definitely feels like. All in all 4/5, good, but just not $200+ good :)

A mesmerizing masculine rose. There are contrasting notes fighting to assist the rose and they balance each other out so perfectly creating such a unique mysterious smell that i can't pinpoint. That mysterious smell starts right away last nearly the whole time. It hard to put words to all that is going on. The citrus, rose, vanilla, pine, contrasting into that sort of erotic latex vinyl resin smell. It's been some time since I experimented with ingredients but I know these ingredients are hard to mix. This has to come from major experience. The perfumer coming from an ingredient house without a big resume of publications. Must be in the trenches behind the scenes for many years working with ingredients. This is a 10/10 masterpiece for sure. And it has lots of presence. It draws attention. Smells intelligent, sophisticated, well composed... what I'm saying is this will help draw attention if you want like in a presention or speaking engagement. A similar vibe to gold man but more wearable with less absured royal power.

Stunning choice for a date night, it just oozes sexiness. I was talked into buying this by a friend that's also into scents, and picked up I was wearing a rose orientated fragrance that night (Lattafa Rehlat) - to be fair, Rehlat is likely inspired by this as the bottle is a deep red and has a very Amouage looking icon on the bottle, but it doesn't seem so much a clone as just a bit similar note wise. Lyric Man is on a whole other level though, as to be expected at ten times the price. The 'Man' part seems a bit superfluous though, I can easily imagine a lady rocking this. On a man, the musk will make it appear masculine and on a woman, the rose and other florals will make it seem feminine. In the age of so many unisex fragrances, this is definitely not one I'd have expected to be aimed at one gender. This is far more masculine than the unisex Baccarat Rouge 540 for example, and more feminine than Godolphin by PdM. It's funny how houses are marketing their stuff nowadays.

This fragrance is powerful stuff. I have never smelled anything quite like it before or since. I mostly get a spicy, aldehydic rose, which might smell soapy to some and maybe even cause headaches (I got one pretty quickly after I applied some right under my lower jaw, so now I'll mostly only spray on my wrists or the back of my neck). I think Lyric Man is both classic and rebelliously romantic. The emphasis on rose makes it classic; I know rose is considered masculine in the Middle East and feminine through much of Europe and the Americas, and I can smell it both ways. But the interplay of what I perceive to be feminine aldehyde notes with what I perceive to be more masculine spices and citrus burst make me see the way in which this fragrance, though marketed towards men, can be worn by anyone willing to embrace the beauty and complexity of this scent.

A masculine, subtle rose - really, very masculine. There's a dab of citrus in there that never comes through unless nose to wrist, but makes the rose really engaging and multifaceted. I've never seen comments on fragantica like the one I'm about to make, so maybe there's an injunction on them in some puritan "the internet is 70% degrading hardcore pornography but we forbid you from saying nipple here" kind of vibe. So, here goes... The musk evolves beautifully and subtly to leave a "clean sex" trace which I find exquisite. By that, I mean the smell when you've showered, made love, then gone out, but you can still detect it on your skin. Not at all dirty or slutty - NOT the morning after the night before! I hope that doesn't put you off - it is not meant to. Also, there are EXCELLENT dupes out there for 10% of the price but still with all the layers...

Can we please stop pretending that reflection man is the best every-day perfume from amouage? It’s clearly lyric man. Lyric man has the perfect balance between muskiness, faint sweetness, and a dewey and wet rose. The musk in lyric man is so clean, so elegant, so perfectly blended that it feels almost dreamlike. The rose here is soft, floral, and adds a lot of texture. Deep in the base there’s something lightly sweet, sugary, jammy, and vanillic, and whatever it is that is making this perfume sweet, is doing a beautiful job at preventing this perfume from being too feminine and too musky. The lime adds a tart counterbalance to the clean and floral musk. This is one of the most regal and beautiful blends to wear any day during any time of the year. This runs laps around reflection man and reflection man will never come even close to lyric man.

Have to agree with the previous reviewers, it has sadly been reformulated and does not live up to its name or the name of the brand. I tried this a few years ago from an official sample and absolutely loved it. Rich, fresh, spicy rose with citrus, a musky vibe, and incense. Being a huge fan of rose, I almost immediately sprung for a bottle. However, when I got my bottle, I was sorely disappointed. Although the smell is still beautiful, it feels a lot lighter and airier. The scent does not last long AT ALL, really maybe around an hour if you're lucky, whereas my sample had fantastic performance. Comparing this to my other Amouage, Beach Hut Man, they simply aren't in the same ballpark. If you can find a vintage bottle pre-magnetic cap, I would say go for it. But my 2019 Made In Oman bottle is simply not up to par, and I will be selling it.

I first tried Lyric Man from a vial, and after a few tests I knew I had found my signature scent. It opens with a mysterious crimson rose touched by a hint of citrus, and soon a veil of incense slowly rises around it. The image that comes to mind is a man walking through a maze of roses, surrounded by a light mist — not so thick that he loses his way, but enough to soften the world around him. I find it suitable for year-round wear, although it truly shines in cooler weather. On very hot days it can feel a bit heavy and may even give you a slight headache. The projection is quite interesting: sometimes you think it has disappeared, yet a moment later your mind suddenly notices it again, quietly floating in the air around you.

I absolutely love this fragrance from the initial blast of lime/bergamot to the final dry down notes of musky sweet rose. I am so glad I decided to try Lyric man because I am a woman. It hits all the right spots for me. I get the vibrant opening I crave sometimes and the low key rose sweetness in the middle to dry down. Lyric Man is now one of my top 10 daytime, early evening scent. For a blind buy scent, I give it a 10/10. On me, it evokes a joyful feeling that spreads to the people around me so I will be repurchasing this perfume for sure. The labeling of man/woman can make people miss out on a potential signature scent so I will suggest you try ANY PERFUME you sense you might like regardless of the gender it was designed for. I wear Lyric Man confidently and happily 💛💛💛💛💛

The punch line: its devastatingly addictive. My first memory of this was in Harrods on a cold November day many moons ago. I hadn’t experienced a scent like it. It was unlike anything else. Three days later I could still smell it on my coat. The bottle is a deep red/black (those colours talk to me), but the juice inside it talks even louder - a woody rose that evolves with time and warms up your mood. It transitions from being disruptive to calm and comforting. Very few scents had the impact on me like this did. I loved it each and every time. I’ve come to the depths of my bottle, which has aged well for almost 10 years. It’s so good, and pairs really well with pure oud oils. This is the kinda scent to use with your significant other.

Amouage Lyric Man is, to me, one of the most elegant and refined rose fragrances ever created for men. It’s smooth, classy, and effortlessly chic without feeling old-fashioned. This scent actually brought me back to appreciating rose accords again — it shows how masculine, fresh, and sophisticated rose can be when done right. From what many positive reviewers say, Lyric Man is beautifully balanced: fresh citrus and spice up top, a rich but airy rose heart, and a smooth woody-musky base that feels polished and luxurious. It never feels loud or heavy — just confident and composed. In my opinion, it sits comfortably in the top 3 best Amouage men’s fragrances. Elegant, pleasant, timeless, and very signature-worthy.

I have tried a 2025 batch and I own a 2010 batch of this fragrance and they are wildly different. The newer batches are very synthetic and screechy, Modern Lyric man smells like a clean toilet that was just doused in frebreeze with a hint of incense in the back. My 2010 batch is incredible, a very natural citrus and rose that’s masculine leaning. It’s not synthetic in the slightest and smells very clean without smelling like bathroom air freshener. The incense is a touch more prominent along with the sandalwood and its overall and incredible wear for the spring and summer. Don’t get a new batch of this stuff, it’s awful compared to the old ones.

To all them guys that complain about this being too feminine and for grandmas, I feel sorry for you. A man with confidence can pull this off without any problem, it all comes down to the way one perceives things. This my friends, is an amazing fragrance, one that will gather compliments left and right. I am in my early 30s and my girlfriend won't let me go out when I m wearing this, so I have to spray myself when I m on my way to work. That being said, what you get in here is a soft and delicate rose, perfectly blended with the many notes that compose this gem. It is clean, fresh and absolutely addictive. A must have for rose lovers IMO.

I thought that lyric was not for me, I found it suffocating, lacking in breath...until today. June 13, 6 pm, 23 degrees Celsius, the fiery rays of the sun penetrate the lake water but the rain from the past night raises a cool evening breeze, the perfect climate for lyric. A warm, velvety rose under the sun is suddenly refreshed by a splash of citrus. The soil beneath it, moist and fertile, allows green buds to bloom. Elegant, sweet but energetic..as a true man should be. I truly understand the reason for identifying it as a male fragrance. There are no failed creations by Chong, they simply reveal themselves with time ❤️🌞

Just when I told myself no more Amouage fragrance after jubilation for men, I was so wrong. Never did I expect myself to fall so deeply in love in lyric for men, especially since I am not a rose lover to begin with. The rose is prominent in lyric men! It is fresh, zesty and bright yet mysterious and captivating at the same time. I know it was love when I wore it for 2 weeks straight without realising it. It's so natural for me to reach out for it without any second thought. If rose is your thing, go for it. If rose isn't your thing, try it and who knows you might fall in love with it just like me.

This fragrance was gifted to me by a friend, and man what a GIFT. This smells so professional, personally I'm not the biggest fan of rose fragrances. But this one flips the script on me. This is a clean, soapy rose. It evokes a sense of cleanliness that's different from other "clean" fragrances. It puts YSL Y, Bleu De Channel, and MYSLF to shame with it's scent profile, and rivals Byredo Blance Absolu. Performance is really good for this kind of scent. So yeah it is expensive, but if you're looking for something unique - Amouage's got your back.

I heard a perfumer on youtube describe this as a rose bathbomb. That is exactly what it smells like. That being said, it's a very gentle and comforting fragrance. Rose with a hint of lime in a dense, warm powderiness that doesn't suffocate you. If I had smelled this without knowing what it was, I would have assumed it was a woman's body spray. An anytime kind of fragrance. I don't get great performance on my skin. About 6 hours or so. I don't mind, as this is a great daytime wear for me. This is a 5/5 for me. I don't have anything else like it.

This was love at first sniff! The most beautiful rose fragrance I’ve smelled so far, and my 2nd favorite Amouage right now. I can see where people may get the “soapy, feminine” quality as it’s a rose heavy fragrance, rose not typically being used in “masculine” perfumes. However it has an earthy quality that balances it out and makes it smell so clean and sophisticated. There’s also the signature Amouage frankincense note that isn’t listed here on fragrantica. I feel men can wear this with confidence. I do and feel amazing when I wear it.

I see many reviews throwing rocks at this fragrance - but I don’t think it deserves the hate. There are many ways you can judge this fragrance and the only way to truly judge this fragrance is by waiting until the dry down on your skin. Do not dig your nose into it, but instead allow the scent to come to you. Most people say this is a great warm temperature fragrance for them but for me it’s the opposite... This shines best on me in the cool weather. People around me are able to enjoy it better than I can. I get a lot of compliments

Based on the listed notes, I thought this would smell very different. To me, this is a clean, soapy, white musk fragrance with a hint of smooth rose, and a touch of clean, white florals. I don’t detect any citrus, I think it’s used to add complexity to the main players listed above. Inoffensive, signature scent worthy, best suited for professional occasions IMO. May lean feminine for some, but a man can absolutely wear this. To my nose, this has a similar scent profile to Nishane Nanshe, except this is less powdery.

Now that is a rose for a man! The rose in here is complimented with aromatics, green sharpness, clean woods, florals and freshness. While it undoubtedly smells of roses, it is also undoubtedly masculine. Smells of rose, pine, green sharpness, clean woods and musks in a bit of a luxurious shower gel kind of clean and fresh. Will last you a day, very strong projector, even tough it's red rosey floral it's sharp and clean instead of warm and sweet enough it's definitely masculine. Not office safe - strong.

So I just bought this recently. I don't tbh if mine is legit or not. The QR code on the box is not working and there's no batch code on the bottom of the bottle. The one thing that calms me it's the aroma. It's soapy, fresh, bubbly. It opens with fresh notes from lime and bergamot. Then comes the rose and Angelica and musk, a lil bit of incense. It's lovely. But, the longevity is mediocre compared to the price. Then again, I don't know whether my Lyric Man is legit or not.

It reminds me of some of the Pierre Montale roses, just much higher quality. I would absolutely love a bottle in the future, but it’s not on my immediate list of perfumes to buy. It’s very similar to mancera’s roses greedy, with that soapy rosiness, but lyric man adds a gorgeous musk that makes it a lot better. It’s such a pleasant and uplifting scent, but I still like rose incense a lot more. I’ll still probably pick up lyric man sometime this year though

This fragrance was reformulated twice since it was released - please do confuse reformulated with “watered down” , at least not with this fragrance. The newer version is amazing but the rose is not as prominent -They changed the vibe of this fragrance with more of that citrus-soapy quality ( that Lyric Man is known for ) in the top where the older bottles had the citrus-soapy quality more in the background. Still a great fragrance - So there’s that...

Lyric Man exudes an image of a masculine man that experienced enough pain to be gentle with all things happening in his life. The man spent enough time to understand what ladies think. A clever one know the way to do everything smart and elegant. I don’t know how I could express my huge love to this scent. But I think others who hear “the melody” and feel “the lyric” of Amouage Lyric Man may have the same love as I do.

Lyric is one of my favorites from Amouage because it's a "fantasy freshie" rather than an "errands run" freshie. The only other perfume I've tried that I'd put in this category is xerjoff renaissance. They combine old world regal woods and florals with a grounded modern refinement and shower freshness. It's a freshie not for going to the dmv or dentist but for going to a lush garden at midnight during a full moon

This is a spicey, soapy scent which is first aldehydic/citric, then green and spicey, then finally rosey and incensey at the end. I didn't like it at first, but I love it now, as with most Amouages it's a complex and unique experience, and fully wearing it will unlock its true beauty. For me the enduring, prominent note is ginger, albeit a delicate, shimmering ginger, like ginger ale.

I have a batch from 2022 and it performs very well, so I'm surprised by some reviews to be honest. The opening is rose-floral and fresh/green, then it dries down to heavy white musk and rose. Don't underestimate the musky part if you're going to blind-buy. It also smells high-quality like you would expect from the brand :) Scent 7,5/10 Performance 8/10 Versatlity 7,5/10

Apparently musk and orange blossom with incense here give a clean laundry effect as if they washed the clothes and smoked it with incense. There are clearly these herbal notes of angelica, galbanum, and pine too. But the star of the show here is the rose-lime accord, since it's so unique and nicely blended it hardly will offend even the most prominent rose haters.

Way too feminine for me. I have a 5ml sample, 8 years old batch. Its a grandmas pefume in the opening. Later it becomes less feminine but still not masculine enough to call it a mans fragrance. If you want a good rose fragrance, i wouldnt buy this. The natural rose smell (the flower) is far from this. This smells like a womans rose fragrance. Careful buying this.

This is clearly the best rose-based fragrance i have smelled and IMO nothing smells the same. This is a rare mix of fresh and dark smell at the same time. It smells very expensive and sensual . Fresh rose with soap base in a magical combination! This is also a female magnet ! Definitely a must-have perfume! A total Masterpiece by Christopher Chong ! 12/10

This is the perfect male rose-based fragrance. Incredibly classy and yet modern at the same time. Soapy clean but interesting at the same time. Lots of depth but also mass appealing. Potentially the most underrated Amouage fragrance of all time. Absolutely beast-mode performance, well over 12 hours on skin and weeks on clothes. 10/10 Masterpiece

Some people find it good for summer--I'm so puzzled. I sampled it in spring and summer. I think it's a bit heavy and would be cloying in high heat. Besides, it smells a bit rubbery to me in the mid. I guess it's the saffron, which I usually dislike. That said, this fragrance is very alluring. Perhaps I'll get a bottle after the nagging anyway.

Clean soapy rose, really reminds you of a luxurious laundry detergent that dries down to an almost clean amber rose, really well blended. Probably the safest out of amouage, and one of the most loved for good reason. It's soapy but still somehow thick and dark, very unisex, and versatile. Any rose lovers should add this to their collection!

I don’t really feel like writing a full review so here are my quick thoughts; I bought 2ml of lyric man and the first two times I wore it I though it was good, but nothing special. I wore it two more times including right now, and realized that the opening is good to me, but the dry down is incredible. I think I’ll get a bottle soon

This scent is WONDERFUL. Top tier rose forward fragrance.. A female can pull this off as well.... To me, the notes are blended very very very well indeed. The lime and rose go great together imo. The musk and pine needles are delicate here, but flow so good with the rose and citrus..... Amouage, please do not discontinue this.
