Myths Man

People invested in niche perfumery and in Amouage especially probably already know about the apparent return of Myths Man on the market, seemingly set to be rereleased next year after being discontinued around 2024. Ever since its discontinuance, Myths Man sort of conveniently gained a "mythical" status in the game, being highly prized by collectors and highly praised by the vast majority of people who got to try it. Hence, prices were becoming absurd second hand, reaching even €600-€700 for a bottle which only contributed to the "mythical" title as not everyone could afford a bottle. All this fanfare surrounding it certainly threw it to the top of my priorities list, and with a sample now at hand, thoroughly tested, I can definitely say... that the myth is not as legendary as it's made out to be. Now, you might've seen many people describing Myths Man or most other chrysanthemum-based fragrances as "funeral scents". I won't mansplain, but for those unaware, chrysanthemums are vastly used as funeral/memorial flowers in many cultures across the world. As such, many people seeking for fragrances carried that funerary vibe inevitably came across Myths Man, some satisfied with it, others not so much. In my opinion, Myths Man stops just short of letting the chrysanthemum dominate the narrative. Make no mistake, I absolutely love Myths Man, and it's amongst my favorite Amouage fragrances to date. But it's not perfect. Its opening focuses completely on the beautiful and mesmerizing floral bouquet composed of iris and chrysanthemum. The latter unfurls a different character from other convenient florals. It's gently spicy and quite herbal-forward, with even a subtle earthiness for extra depth. It has a sort of leafy attribute which lends it a refreshing greenness, all whilst also being moderately sweet. But most of the sweetness, for now, comes through a powdery accent that the iris adds. It thankfully stays away from the more typical "lipsticky" iris and instead proves to be more rounded, velvety and natural-like. However, it unfortunately overpowers the chrysanthemum, which should technically be the star of the myth. It doesn't completely erase it from the canvas, but it feels like it holds it back from fully unraveling its beauty. Soon, more components come into play. The sweetness, still very much kept nicely at bay, now transitions to a more medicinal and slightly boozy fashion. The rum, hardly overcompensating, supports the elemi resin and its balsamic, sort of zesty/citric aroma, which drips over rose petals that in turn, does mute the rose a tad and its overall involvement in the scent. Labdanum only pushes that resinous/balsamic accord with more ambery warmth and stickier edge. I certainly don't get much vetiver, but it likely aids with the distant earthy aspect that follows. Now, the canvas on which this whole picture is painted consists of a rather fitting ashy leather. The leather is warm, smooth, and plenty comforting on its own. Add in the ash and "introspective" is the first word that comes to mind. It is smoky, but not in the traditional thick, burnt smoke, nor in the soothing and thing veiling incense; ash just feels colder and dustier. It has a quietness that smoke doesn't. Smoke is active; ash is what's left after everything settles, and that fits close to Myths Man's emotional register and its funerary character. And even if you might not find Myths Man to be the fullest expression of that style, you cannot deny that it feels, to some degree, mildly depressive. It's not fast-paced or bright, not uplifting or mood-boosting. It feels like it demands calmness and meditation through softened whispers. Despite that, it's not exactly soft in terms of performance, but neither beast-mode. On my skin, it reached no more than ~8 hours of longevity, which is still a pretty good showing. Projection managed more than I expected. It never becomes intrusive; it creates a persistent bubble around, and pushing power on itself is just enough for people sitting next to you to notice it without having their nose harassed. However, sillage is magnificent, with a prominent trail being left behind even 3 hours in. Projection overall tempers down completely by the 5th hour mark, in result delivering rather fitting performance for a fragrance like Myths Man. I keep seeing plenty of people finding Myths Man "hard to wear". How? It is certainly not daily driver material, even though it would still work for some people. But for more distinct occasions, Myths Man is a beautiful choice. And no, by "distinct" I am not referring at funerals solely, but even weddings, dates, and simply family gatherings, despite the more depressing/funerary connections. I feel like those are heavily forced upon Myths Man, making it seem less versatile than it is. In all honesty, I believe Myths Man is both overhated and overrated. It is a sublime, artistic fragrance that serves its purpose well, yet it doesn't lean fully into it to earn it such high funerary ties. That aside, it certainly doesn't deliver a profile that would justify delusional prices exceeding half a grand, although those prices are mostly fueled due to the discontinued status, which seems to be about to change. Unfortunately, the rerelease of Myths Man could also potentially include changes to the DNA, and historically, these changes are almost never for the better. My advice is this: Myths Man is a fragrance well-worth trying. It is arguably the most artistic fragrance Amouage has ever made, and it is key for understanding the house and understanding it's not all about oriental incense. But be weary of the prices. Art is expensive, but most times, too expensive. Presentation: 9.5/10 Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 7/10 Versatility: 8/10 Value for Money: 5/10 Overall: 7.5/10

This is a masterpiece, "criminally underated", is understated. This is a genuine work of art. I blind bought this, it was an instant love, and it just gets better the longer I've had it. I decided to buy this because I wanted to own a real amouage fragrance. Prior to buying this I had only clones, but by far it was my favorite house, jubilation and interlude being 2 of my favorite scents I had tried. Since then i have now sampled over 25 of their fragrances. I picked this one and Figment man for a few reasons, one being the controversial reviews. And from experience, anything negative is typically not as bad as it's made out to be, infact sometimes there's something surprisingly beautifully appealing behind what someone else finds appalling. I also have come to realize many people wear fragrances because they want other people to think that they smell nice. Well the truth is you don't really know how something is going to smell to someone else, so why care about that? I wear fragrances because I think they smell nice. So when I see a fragrance that has many controversial reviews, it has to be different, and I love to smell new and different and unique scents. On top of all that I knew what I was buying was going to be without a doubt nothing short of quality. Some of the other things that convinced me I needed to try this, and would probably like it if I bought it without out sampling it first, (I'm not saying you shouldn't sample this first), were: Some said it has similarities to interlude, and I love interlude and interlude black iris. Yes it does have a strong likeness to interlude mainly in the dry down, but this is far more than that. In fact I feel like this is better than interlude. If you like the leather in interlude, this has that. The leather here is not Tuscan leather, more like memo Italian or memo Irish leather, it's earthy and blended so nicely with the chrysanthemum, orris, and elemi it creates a subtle sweetness, all over an incense/smokey ashy accord. It's just lovely. The chrysanthemum, I read alot of controversy about this note and the opening so that was concerning, but I did a little research. The chrysanthemum is a "golden flower", it does in some cultures symbolize death and is used in funerals. Although in asian cultures it can mean "cheerful", it's also made into a tea and is comforting. It is also celebrated in the month of November, it is an autumn flower. I was born in November so I felt like even more the reason I had to try this. If you want to know more about this flower, I suggest reading the wiki on it. Some say they smell like urinal cakes. No. I don't know what urinals they go to, but the opening with the chrysanthemum, orris and elemi is just beautiful, slightly tart, a hint of sweetness, floral in a masculine way, and I actually feel like it smells like the color purple. Yes it does stay through the length of the fragrance but it transforms and settles down and the leather ash come in and blend so well with the floral to create one of the most amazing dry downs. I heard someone mention in a review, there is a compound used in urinal cakes is derived from the chrysanthemum flowers, so perhaps that is why some people make that association, although the chrysanthemum in this fragrance is stunning. It is different and it is unique, and if you haven't smelled it, it may take a few wears to warm up to. This is how black orchid was for me at first, I didn't quite understand what I was smelling until wearing it a few times and now I absolutely loved the smell of "orchids". I was so glad I bought this despite some of the negative reviews especially about the chrysanthemum note and the opening being challenging because I love it. The dry down is just beyond amazing. It is not in my opinion too smokey, it's blended so beautifully with the leather and the chrysanthemum creating something special. The longevity and projection is insane. This projects strongly on me for at least 8 hours, I haven't tested it longer, but most fragrances, even strong ones that last long on clothes, on me, begin to fade down around the 7 hour mark. Overall this truly is a masterpiece and definitely worth sampling at least. I'm so glad I got a bottle of it, it's definitely one of the best amouage fragrances.

Imagine you entered in Pasargad area; odor of old sand and soil stones penetrate in your membrane, In this time you are engaged with biscuit eating, This is the first sense of this perfume. Maybe, the goal of creator is mentioning to ancient civilization and its myths. After 15 minutes, the perfume heart starts to pump... The combination of tobacco, leather, smoke, rose and amber aromas, create male and interesting aroma. Also, in this step, vanilla biscuit sweetness shows off a little but not so much, just increasing the attraction of aroma. If you remember the smell of Interlude Man and you escape from date sweetness such as me, you can experience similar of Interlude aroma with attractive sweetness in Myth Man. Myth has a high and popular quality it is a repetition from the best perfumes of Amouage for me. The sillage is good until primary 2 hours but after it, you sense its odor just yourself, of course this is summer now and it has the best sillage and longevity in cool weather easily. Wow. Just WoW. This blend is amazing. This perfume has rised again the interest in perfumes in me. I really don ́t understand how some can describe this as "urinal cake". I understand that the opening is a little bit challenging for some but, c ́monnn. Maybe the chrysanthemum is not often used , that ́s why it can be percevied odd for some. I don ́t find this fragrance as a challanging one. Anyway the pungent aroma (which i find pleasing btw) disappear quickly. The fragrance then spreads in the air like a talented painter paints a canvas. What a fragrance, elegant, sophisticated, with the right amount of florals and smokey notes. I also found it very versatile. I mean, it ́s not an office scent for sure ( or maybe yes lol) but I can see this be used in different environments and occasions even if I use this perfume on special occasion mostly. I also think that it is not a "winter only" fragrance as everybody says. Not at all, even if it is an opulent perfume it also has some airness in it, I have used Myths Man also during summer evenings/nights and it worked perfectly and strangely enough I got also compliments. ( ok maybe during the day, if it ́s a really hot summer day it is probably not the best choice, but if it ́s cloudy or during summer nights it works very well ). I use it on rotation all year round, the only exception, as i wrote, are hot summer days. This is an amazing journey into high end perfumery. This is pure class in a bottle. I can ́t reccomend it enough especially if you find a good deal (I found it several times with HUGE discounts). To me this is one of the best fragrancies , if not the best, from this House. The drydown is magical. Really. It ́s so good that I am considering buying a backup bottle even if, probably, my bottle will last for ages as I have, like most of us, a lot of fragrancies. Anyway this is a masterpiece, really. 11/10.!!

Amouage Myths is a dark smoky mysterious scent that is not for everyone but a treasure in my collection. Undeniably, I was mesmerized by its middle eastern charm. I am a just an amateur hobbyist and collector but I admire this juice not just as a frag but an artistic masterpiece. To my nose, this one is a complex scent and an acquired taste. Somehow it reminds me of Salvatorre Ferragamo Oud, one of my favorite scents in my collection. The performance and projection is out of this world and yes, this scent would take some time for some folks to understand and appreciate. I love this stuff and am excited to wear it on fall and winter time where its magic spell will be at its best. Some fellow reviewers also mentioned that this is great even on warmer weather which I haven't tried, but something to look forward to ;) Let me give this masterpiece a 10/10 Follow up Review : 5/9/22 I revisited my bottle again this morning and I just want to put it out there that this is an olfactory masterpiece. A must for collectors I must say. What I like about this fragrance is it is off putting at first like most reviewers here mentioned. But I decided to be patient about it because I know there's a beautiful message or mystery behind it just like an abstract painting. I was right, dealing with this fragrance is like meeting a scary monster who will gradually transform into a middle eastern Adonis. It's an elusive one because for ordinary noses, it would be hard to figure out its scent profile which is unique in a way. This is such a gorgeous masculine scent. The dry down has that Interlude vibe but this one is more sexier and regal. It gives you that out of this world sex appeal. “Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness” 🙏

One more stupendous Amouage which is discontinued. This underrated, artistic masterpiece is totally unisex imo. Myths Man has an extraordinary melancholic beauty, it’s so lyrical, like an unreal dream. There the resinous leather meets flowers drenched in Rum, then covered with ashes. It’s not a smoke, if you have smelled the fireplace after after the embers have gone out, you know how it smells and how it feels in an abstract way. There is something magical in it. It’s very rare to find Chrysanthemum in perfume, it’s a little bit musty and herbal, so perfect in this composition which is harmonious and beautifully blended. One of my favorite flowers, Iris, together with Chrysanthemum leaves me speechless, it’s a ravishing combo. Iris doesn’t make it make up like nor powdery but it makes me think violet colour while smelling it. Leather is smooth and soft, not challenging at all. It’s subtle, sophisticated, very gentle from Labdanum and it blends seamlessly with Vetiver and Elemi. Something here gives me aromatic vibe and I think it has to be Vetiver together with balsamic Elemis. Rose here is only a supportive note imo. In the language of flowers, the chrysanthemum carries the symbolic meaning of devoted love, loyalty, happiness, longevity, and joy. Especially in the Asian context, Chrysanthemum flowers are commonly used in funeral floral arrangements to say goodbye. Myths Man is unique and precious. This is incredible. I would honestly suggest that its nearly impossible to accurately describe this to someone, although with amouage thats not completely out of the norm. i highly reccomend sampling, unless you can clearly recognize all the notes and piece that together in your head. that said, i blind bought it haha. i will give this advice, the ash thing is legitimately there and very prominent....but the key is it only smells bad and weird when you stick your nose in it. in the air, your sillage is amber and incense with a dash of sweetness (probably the elemi with smaller quantities of the other heart notes) and a distant campfire burnt wood note. it would indeed smell really bad if there was alot more of it here, but instead it lets this fragrance paint an incredible scene for you. amouage fragrances have a reputation for "storytelling" so to speak, and this is the top of that pile or at the least one of the most unique and amazing ones. this is not a "panty dropper" as they say, but its certainly an "oh my god, that smells incredible, what is that!?" fragrance. the florals in it play leading roles but the fragrance doesnt come off as "floral" persay sidenotes: some bottles of this are magnetic cap, name vertically on bottle sides, but no "myths" written across the base of the sprayer. so dont worry, it isnt fake lol. do NOT overspray this, its very strong especially older bottles. a few sprays spread out across you is definetely enough, and when this is worn properly its amazing. if you smell this at the atomizer, it smells like somebody peed on a pile of firewood ash lol, but it does NOT smell like that when wearing.

This perfume is a breath of fresh air, particularly after the mundanity that came with experiencing a couple perfumes over several days that I won't mention here. But by breath of fresh air, I don't mean airy or fresh. This perfume is anything but. Top notes of chrysanthemum and orris are followed by heart and base notes of elemi, rum, vetiver, rose, ash, leather, and labdanum. If that sounds like a mélange that shouldn't work, you postulate correctly. It doesn't work, yet somehow they are pulled together to glorious effect. The opening swells quickly and resolutely, delivering impressions of fuel and florals as if the bowels of the earth are clashing with its lush surface. It's an armageddon between two forces of nature, and you're not sure who will win. But then the fight is over, and you're left with peace as the richer heart and base notes take over (the leather in particular). It is a really beautiful phase of this perfume but the peace seems a bit fragile and tense, like you are standing on still-blood-soaked ground and rubble. It continues to calm into a third and final phase where all is well and safe, as the labdanum nestles. It almost gives an incense impression of serenity. Myths Man is bold, big, loud, and very sure of itself. It approaches its "incorrectness" fearlessly, rather than timidly in hopes it's got just enough safety for plenty of people to buy it. I absolutely love it. It's one of only a few perfumes in my collection that I have backups because I can never imagine being without it.

I bought some cysanthemums for my living room, and in the same week I tasted wild chrysanthemum tea, and it got me wondering about cysanthemum in perfume. So I searched on here. This perfume grabbed my attention, and reading the reviews made me really want to give it a go. Of course it's extortionately expensive, and may or may not be discontinued. Long story short I blind bought a discount bottle from Ebay, and it has just arrived. Possibly the best, most astounding opening I've ever experienced from a perfume. Sharp, vetiver pickle with chocolate flakes and incense, Chinese chrysanthemum tea and rose (it's there if you seek it out). It shouldn't work... The tangy, floral shimmer dissapates and the elemi brings you into its warmth. I don't know where it's going next, but needless to say I don't regret this blind buy.... I think this will become my new all-time favourite scent. Update: I'm a couple of hours in now, and in the third stage. Beautiful! Another update: on further considation, there is a negative side to this. The notes are difficult and astoundingly persistent. After a few hours, there's an almost acrid, putrid aftereffect (the vetiver I suspect, I tends to sour on my skin), which remains after showering and is permanent on clothing. It doesn't stop me loving the perfume, but it's worth knowing about. Perhaps performace can be too good after all.

Fair warning, I'd think hard before sampling this. Ask yourself seriously, "Can I really handle knowing what was lost?" Can you? Difficult to know for sure. Difficult for anyone. You might find it a burden too heavy to bear. Too painful... Can you carry that weight? Or will you miss the serenity of ignorance, that in your arrogance was cast aside? Beware the blade of truth cuts both ways... Ask yourself "How strong am I really?", "Do I have $1000?" Do you? "How many times can I miss my utility payments before they shut my power off?" ... "Do I even need a 401K?" What is compound interest before Art? Once you know you will need to chose. Consider the three friends you'll impress for 5 minutes. 5 minutes of glory... What are you willing to sacrifice to hold greatness? Or can you endure a life knowing what is forever beyond your grasp? I can't answer that for you. Someone I assume was very wise once said "The wise are also prudent". I leave you with the words of another wise man (me) " You're probably going to sample this and like it, then get sad when you see it's $900 on ebay. A very bright, yet smoky scents. the opening is a very bright combination of the chrysanthemum and the orris root. with a touch of vague sweetness. i reckon this what makes the other said and associating it with urinal cake, but for me its a refreshing take on mans perfume bordering to weird. after the opening settles, then the well blended leather + ash + chrysanthemum takes over making this perfume a vague genderless perfume. Never too feminine and yet at the same time never too masculine. gave the impression of clean yet dirty. the ash coincides with the flower makes an impression of powdery smell. at the same time the leather and the flower combined with the rum (?) makes it a sweet disinfectant yet very pleasant. this prominent notes continues to the very drydown of this beautiful perfume. The longevity of this fragrance is great, especially if your skin amplifies amber Scent. and on the clothes it never goes off, its hugging your clothes very tight. While not having the enormous sillage like the other smoky/incense amouage perfume. people still catching stray wafts at this perfume. a unique leather smell if you want to try. I think woman can definitely pull this off despite the name. a very likeable perfume (for me) that lives up to its name and presentation. and at the same time a unique addition to every collection.

Even though I have a rather big collection now, not every scent moves me enough to try and write a review. Sometimes you sniff something and say "Wow, this is fantastic!" and proceed with your day, and sometimes you stumble upon something so unique and touching, that you just have to share. I love me some smoky and leathery fragrances, and I've been intrigued by this fragrance by a girl, who reviewed some scents of an Amouage line on Youtube. She described this fragrance as smoky and masculine, which hooked me, but when i got my bottle - this is not what I have personally experienced. First of all it smells just like how it looks - purple. Prince could rock this when writing or shooting a Purple Rain video. Second, smoky and leathery notes are on the backseat, never really overshadowing other notes even after several hours of wear. It's a flowery concoction, that has a boozy darker base, and it is done so well. I would say it's masculine leaning, but not the UFC-type masculine, but a person, who is confident and but has a softer and more emotional side to him. I can't remember seeing this on youtuber's Top lists, but Myths definitely deserve to have some love and spotlight. For now I am absolutely fine with this fragrance being my secret weapon on dates and rainy autumn days

Burnum geliştikçe bu kokuya var olan merakımda artmaya başlamıştı. Deri ve kül, krizantem çiçeği ve süsen kökü. Her biri birbirlerinden farklı algoritmaları var olan ana notalar var olmasına rağmen, kararsız kaldım. Bu parfümü ya daha çok sevecektim ya da tamamen nefret edecektim. Bugün 15 ml olarak esansiyel olarak parfümümü ürettim.Gelelim asıl mevzuya.. Bakalım burnum size neler ifade edecek? Kokunun başlangıcı oldukça diğer parfümlere göre çok farklı. Dumansı hissiyatı kuvvetli bitkisel bir çiçek ve acı bir kül kokusu geliyor. ( barut azıcık hissiyat olarak nedense alınıyor). Ölümsüz çiçek adındaki var olan kuruntudan nefret ediyorum. Bu parfümde listelenmemiş fakat krazantem çiçeği ile beraber az da olsa akor haline getirilmiş. Her elimi burnuma götürdüğümde aşk yaşıyorum. Olağan üstü bir sanat işlenmiş. Kesinlikle genel beğeni parfümü değildir fakat ben buna aşık oldum 10/11

I smelled this a few years ago and thought "man... Who would like this?" I revisited a few days ago and thought "man... How could I not like this?" It's a wow-worthy scent. Not necessarily complex - pretty uniform in accord, but... It is just ideal for what I'm looking for in an everyday type fragrance. It has character without being obnoxious. It's unique without being overtly challenging. I primarily get elemi, but the elemi is embellished and accented perfectly with the supporting notes. There is a distinct, herbal, aromatic fresh quality with a grounded, earthy aspect. It somewhat resembles Honour Man with the elemi-vetiver combination, where Honour is a little more clean and warm, musky- Myths has a darker, leathery edge. It somewhat resembles Figment Man with the earthen, woody qualities, minus the citric brightness and urinous tonality. I've heard people compare this to Interlude Man - I can't say I smell the similarities. Labdanum, maybe? Interlude is much more sweet in my opinion. Maybe they are tonally similar? But they smell not alike to me. It's an unfortunate love, and I reflect back on all the bottles I've passed on over the years and give myself one kick for each. I will savor what I have and appreciate the Myths.

Amouage Myths. Bold, strong, and confident... What I strive for in myself, I also strive for in a fragrance. Not for everyone, but this fragrance is for me. With only a few presses of an atomizer, this fragrance takes you on a "mythical" journey (pun intended). The opening of our journey begins with an addictive combination of bright, clean florals juxtaposed with a pungent, dirty, Kouros-Esque style facet. Dirty and clean... The yin to the other's yang. Those only familiarized with standard blue/aquatic fragrances may not enjoy the journey's inception. Hold tight. Our journey then evolves into a very pleasant but smokey, ashy ride; which also resembles my bottle of Interlude Black Iris from the same house, just not as prominent. Someone might even ask you, "what's burning?" as they did me. The "Interlude" of our mythical journey if you will. The denouement then concludes with a long-lasting, pleasing dry-down of clean florals and subtle leather; which even the most novice of wearers will find as a satisfactory conclusion to our journey. Very nice. I have fun wearing this one. It's no myth that this offering from Amouage is a must-try for any fragrance enthusiast. Rating 8.5/10

THE MOST UNDERRATED AMOUAGE FRAGRANCE. Extremely underrated for some reason, I think it’s one of the best Amouage scents out there. You get a lot of rum, rose and leather out of this scent with a smoky hint from the ash note. The chrystanemum off the top is magnificent and makes the scent extremely wearable and likable in my opinion. It might be one of the best scents out there. I’m pretty sure Myths man has been discontinued unfortunately. I’m soo glad I picked this up right before it discontinued, cause it’s definitely worth a buy. Not sure why this has been discontinued cause it’s definitely a top 5 amouage in my opinion. Myths man last for an eternity just like most amouage fragrances, it projects quiet good. Myths man is a great scent to wear for the winter and fall seasons and is a fragrance for formal attire. Goes great with a suit, this masculine fragrance commands authority and pulls compliments. Like any amouage fragrance, myths man comes at a high price point. Bht the uniqueness of the top notes mixed in with the ash will make this scent like no other, so it’s definitely worth that hefty price point. Once, I told myself I would never spend more than $100 on a perfume. There are plenty of nice, affordable ones, and besides, scents run out quickly... it just doesn't make sense. My first encounter with Amouage revealed that my backbone and willpower are as thin as a hair, and MYTHS turned it into a perm. I love comments that "it smells like a funeral home" or "like your grandma's worst nightmare" :D However, for me, every time I snap out of the ecstasy after smelling it, one thought appears: "How is it even possible to create something like this? How is it done? Who? How? Why?!" It is soo good that I don't care what's inside, but there's ash. Real, dry, pure ash. Ash, but in water—this is a clue how exceptional it might be. Someone can listen to Chopin non-stop, someone else can look at Picasso's paintings continuously, being surprised by the quality of the creation every time. It's the same here for me. It's not a scent to wear. It's a scent (like Roja Diaghilev) that you should contemplate while sitting at home with a lamp and a glass of good whiskey (or a cup of tea). Stopping its production is a crime.

A mythical flower, unspoiled by the gaze of man, in solitary bloom on the slopes of a dormant volcano. This is conceptually adjacent to Fleicher's Rose Tonnerre (née Une Rose): floral center with a larger-than-life dramatic and earthy backdrop. But whereas Fleicher's creation immediately invokes its namesake – giving the image of the lonely Beauty and the Beast rose growing improbably in rainy, gothic woods beyond the castle – Myths' floralcy is more abstract by avoiding being recognizable. I strongly disagree with the assertion that there is a prominent "smoky" accord here. Note: there is no smoke in the note breakdown; it's "ash." And the ash here is not harsh and dry. This volcano hasn't been active in living memory; the ash is a prominent but well-integrated component of the fertile soil in which this strange flower has taken root. As with Figment Man, this is an Amouage that somehow has a reputation for being artistic but unwearably weird. Nonsense. Do not allow yourself to be degraded by the tastes of the democratic man destined for oblivion when you're fated to be a man of myths.

Blind bought this after seeing all of these incredible reviews. Love meander, reflection man, reflection 45, interlude black iris, journey, and jubilation xxv. Wish me luck! UPDATE: Just received my bottle and it’s incredible. I’ll admit the first spray was a bit tough to get through - I get a strong dose of synthetic, cheap smelling flower probably from the chrysanthemum, as well as some hints of leather and ash but I detect the iris and, as a sucker for iris, i think it’s so smooth and balancing. Im liking it more and more as it dries down and as the florals start to dissipate. The dry down is a nice incense and leather smell with faint hints of the florals. The rum note gives it some sweetness, but not too much. The wafts I get as I move around are delicious. Much nicer smelling in the air as opposed to sticking your nose in your wrist. You certainly have to like powdery, floral, incense-y types of fragrances to appreciate this. This is a hidden gem in the amouage collection AND ITS NOW BACK IN STOCK IN USA. Check their website :)

Amouage Myths Man - first & probably last impression Been having 2ml of Myths Man in my drawer since late 2024 or early 2025. Decided today was the lucky day and I drenched myself with all of it ! 😆 While in my country’s culture Chrysanthemum is a flower associated with death & mourining , I cannot take away from appreciating the beautiful craftsmanship behind the scent. How the whole fragrance ties itself together, coming off a sharp flowery and somewhat boozy top, wrapping itself in an earthy (and oily) leather base! 😮💨🤌🏼 Personally, I do not find it challenging at all. Maybe it could be for the people around, especially if they have smelled Chrysanthemum in a funeral scenario. I also believe this scent portrays human ignorance perfectly - while available on the market it barely got any attention. When discontinued due to low demand & sales, turns out people are willing to pay an awful lot. Beautiful and different scent indeed! Worth the price of £500-£1000+ which I occasionally see? Very questionable.

This fragrance is a prime example of how mass fomo psychosis can dictate the after-market. People are selling Myths Man for crazy prices like 400-500 EUR, and I've seen auctions reaching even 800 EUR. I have to admit that this is truly a beautiful olfactory experience. You probably never smelled anything like Myths Man. It is not a crowd pleaser, but for someone who can appreciate the blend and art hidden in that bottle, it might be considered a masterpiece. Instead of jumping on a hype train just because it is discontinued, try to get yourself a decant and test it. I'd love to have it in my collection, but over-inflated after-market makes it really hard to get it within a reasonable price range., Imho, Amouage truly shot themselves in the foot by discontinuing Myths Man, they are sitting on a gold mine, and instead of taking advantage of it, they are allowing an after-market to oversaturate the price beyond human comprehension.

This is some crazy stuff. Opens with the smell of aldehydes and ammonia; like a janitor who cleaned the urinal but missed a significant portion of the toilet while still replacing the old urinal cake with a new one. Decidedly unpleasant. After the drydown, however, Myths morphs into something magical--peppery leather, labdanum and ash that somehow manages to evolve into the most gentlemanly fougere I've ever smelled. It's a wild journey. Requires a LOT of confidence. More of an art piece than a wearable fragrance, in my opinion. Still, I'm so thankful to have finally gotten my nose on a 5 ml decant of this legend. Update: after several more wears, I detect a freshness in the opening that overrides the urinal cake smell. Cooling, herbal, medicinal, bitter, melancholic. Myths has gradually worked its way into my top five of all time. KVS is a master of the art.

I like Amouage "Myths Man". In the spring/summer of last year, I felt inspired to try a lot more Amouage fragrances than the pretty small amount I had tried by that time. "Myths Man" was one of the many I had sampled. I didn't like it at first, but I ended up liking it by my second or third wearing of it. Unfortunately, I was under a budget constraint last year, so I missed my chance of getting a full bottle of it. I'll have to enjoy the two samples of it I got last year. I know to not wear it in humidity, so that will help me extend the amount of time I have it in my possession. I can see how it slightly resembles "Interlude Man", but I think of it as unique. I would also describe it as rich and even somewhat classic-leaning. I hope they bring it back.

What lies beyond death? Myths takes you on a journey between death and dream. You reopen the eyes of your mind and find yourself in a temple amidst the clouds, its architecture perfectly preserved and of extreme luxury. You exist outside of space and time, yet there is a thick mist in the air that conveys a sense of inevitable decay and ruin. Myths man is a nostalgic memory, both exquisitely beautiful and painful. The note of chrysanthemum in Western culture evokes the preparation of bodies for funerals, just as the note of ash recalls the cremation of the body and surrender to the entropic process. Despite its melancholic allusion, Myths is an extremely pleasant and charismatic fragrance, one of my absolute favorite perfumes. 💜

For those looking for this scent, I managed to get a bottle from Moustapha AL-Labban & Sons in Beirut Sept '24. I had to get a friend to collect in person and bring to me as they won't ship to every country, but you can arrange with the shop directly through their insta. They still have stock. It is an amazing fragrance and i'm glad I managed to snag a bottle. Really ashy smoky with beautiful florals, I don't have anything quite like it and can only recommend that if this sounds like a scent you would love, you probably will and do try and get a bottle. Also an Amouage boutique staffer seemed to think there may be bottles in stock at Madrid airport duty free. Good luck everyone.

Picknenders review below has absolutely nothing to do with Myths and it's really unfortunate when forums are polluted by that sort of drivel. Myths is characterised by a soft ash note from beginning to end, first accompanied by florals and grapefruit that give an impression of purple, then peppery/woody elemi note mixed with a little rose in the mid and finally a soft leather note. This distinct 3-stage development of notes is a fantastic olfactory achievement. The scent itself is unique and pleasing at all 3 stages and my wife always compliments me when the opening notes are floating in the air. Performance is very good , I get 8 hours with excellent projection for the first 3.

Prior to the pandemic I had a job that allowed me to travel internationally. I got the opportunity to visit Harrod's a couple of times and being able to walk around the perfume sections and smelling all the brands I never would have been able to anywhere else near where I live (small town) was such a pleasant experience. This fragrance takes me right there to being at Harrod's walking with tens of strips of different perfumes I've sampled there. This is love at first sniff. The smell is great and unlike anything else in my collection. I'm sad this one has been discontinued as it will always take me back to the few times I got to go to London and my few visits to Harrods.

This is truly incredible... I hate when people say a perfume is sorcery or something a magician would wear but this is really something an eccentric wizard living in a mountain would smell like. The bottle color suits it too. Wish I grabbed this years ago I was obsessed with the womens amouage scents but I’m starting realize why the mens are so popular. This is so inspired. Smells like tea and magical ashes that were used in some spell. The last time something reminded me of magic this much was fate women from amouage too. That man running things now is sick in the head for discontinuing them I genuinely think he’s a psychopath like there’s something wrong with him

Amouage Myths Man smells like nothing I've encountered before. It starts out with an amazing composition of dry iris and powdery florals. It has such a realistic and beautiful ash accord. The Chrysanthemum, a unique floral has a sharper earthy smell that goes perfectly with everything else. I start to get the labdanum and sweetness from the rum, which really brings the fragrance together, making it semi-sweet with all of the ash and dry florals. One of the most unique and best fragrances I've ever smelled in my journey so far. As a fan of Amouage, this is what I consider a real Amouage creation with artistry and quality.

One of the most interesting dry-downs I've ever experienced. It starts off quite cloying (I wouldn't recommend going super close to it to smell it, as it is very potent). However, as time progresses, a sweetness emerges, creating a balance between the smoke, leather, rose, and orris. The best way I could describe it would be as a clean yet true-to-self animatic leather enveloped in ash, rose, and orris. Performance is pretty good too. It's a shame that the fragrance has been discontinued. The price will be high, but if you've sampled it and love it, then definitely try and get your hands on a large bottle.

Imagine a guy wearing a black bold leather jacket that has an old school muscle car. He is a man is very much in touch with his inner truth and knows when to play things in his favor. The guy is wearing black aviator sunglasses and the car is being revved very high and it has smoking coming out of the engine. The guy has a cigarette and he exhales the death into the sky. In that car he has a beautiful blonde girlfriend with a leather bag filled with all kinds of powders and lipstick. I forgot to mention that this guy has been drinking in a bar before reaching the scene. Thats is the myths man.

Yesss. The ash note struck me immediately Deep stone smell.. Very unique. The comparisons to Interlude...ehh...kinda in the sharp balsamic way. But this is a unique combo of Incense, orris, and elemi to make a sharp, sweet smoky collaboration that will make an impression on your olfactory memory. There really is nothing I can think of that comes close to this concoction. Performance is blistering. Apparently discontinued now, if I can find a bottle I'll buy. Update: Found a bottle. 😅 Layer this with Man in Black for the most luxurious shit you ever smelled in your life. 👌

It's not often I'm at a loss for words. Thankfully, others below me have done an incredible job articulating this artwork. I have over 700 reviews on this site, and Myths is seriously one of the best things I've ever put on my skin. This has everything I could ever want in a fragrance. It's artistic, deep, complex, boozy, ashy, tart, animalic, masculine, unapologetic, but also beautiful, worldly and meaningful. This is Marlon Brando in a bottle. Eccentric, artistic, brilliant, and a little crazy. Masterpiece Scent : 10/10 Performance : 9/10

I FINALLY was able to smell this infamous amouage. Here are my initial impressions: (can watch my video on YouTube, @ombrégray) Myths man is funky, as expected from amouage under Christopher Chong’s creative direction. It’s very animalic, but not in a civet or castoreum way. It’s like a sheep or a goats fur. It smells like a petting zoo, almost identical to one. It’s ashy and smoky, a little kick of rum. It’s fantastic. One of the best Amouage’s I’ve ever smelled. I’ll buy a bottle when I have an extra $700 laying around 😂😂

Opening is super challenging and medicinal, I hated it at first, but as soon as you let this bad boy dry down for 10 minutes it becomes this amber/Iris/incense that we all know and love from Interlude BI, just instead with floral top/mid notes. Totally aimed at the interlude crowd. In regards to scenario, I’m not sure I fully agree with everyone that it’s a winter/fall scent, personally reminds me of a hot summers evening/night! But each to their own, always depends on the character and style of the person wearing it!

Honestly this fragrance can only be worn be someone who is confident and able to take criticism. What makes me say that is because of the impact you’ll be making when others smell you. In reality this fragrance here is made to stand out from the rest which it does. But smelling different like this comes with a cost. To me my nose picks up a dark, mysterious, dirty rose smell. And hints of dark animalistic leather. The main theme here is how mysterious and how oddly different you smell that leans to a likeable scent.

Damn, I'm upset I didn't get a full bottle of this. This stiff is addicting. Holy smokes, is this niche. I thought I hated it at first and kept coming back only to realize I love it. The craziest photorealistic bitter flower bomb in it's opening (the chrysanthemum, of course, which I had never smelled before), which dissipates in about 10-15 minutes. What you are left with is this amazingly addicting plasticky ashy vibe. 8/10, extremely niche and unique. DEFINENTLY test before buying this. It will shock you.

One of these so called fragrance reviewers said on his channel that this fragrance has been discontinued. And now I am seeing people commenting the same here on fragrantica, most likely because they saw some of these videos on Youtube. But the information is wrong. This fragrance has not been discontinued. You can e-mail Amouage directly and they will answer you. Take with a grain of salt everything these so called fragrance reviewers say on their channels. Very often they say bull.....it!!

A masterpiece of perfumery that has been sadly discontinued. Myths has a dirty ash and the smoky incense-y tinge of Interlude, but softened and fleshed out with florals.The opening can be a bit challenging for some but after it dries down the scent truly opens up. The longevity and projection are what you would come to expect from Amouage. Easily lasting all day long with a good arms length projection for around 4-5 hours. if anyone has a 100ml bottle in the US please let me know.

Wow, where to even start with this? The opening is a bright, sharp Chrysanthemum that people are referring to as “urinal cake”. Yes, it is pungent but passes quickly. Then you come to this leathery orris and vetiver which almost comes off as a creamy white chocolate. But the dry down is where the real magic happens. You get this eternal floral leather that is gorgeous. I can see this being worn in spring, winter and fall. It is definitely different but so worth the journey.

@M-as-Marin: Figment and Myths have been available on Amouage’s official site the entire time, ever since the rumor went out that these were discontinued. Some of us basenoters have been checking periodically since the rumor first started and they’ve not once been unavailable. There was never any official declaration of discontinuation. We do not know for sure if these are going away, and they are selling off their remaining stock, or not.

This is like a sharp, sweet, smoky masterpiece. It seems weird/niche/unapproachable at first, and people say it can be quite polarizing, but oddly it is my most complimented fragrance by far. Whenever I wear it at work I get random customers blurting out “damn you smell good” as they pass by me on a semi-regular basis. I think these kind of scents suit me, but also this one must work particularly well with my skin chemistry.

This scent is a work of art! Amouage has unfortunately discontinued this fragrance despite its unique smell. The ash and leather notes in this scent are really realistic and it feels like you are on a volcano and smelling the earthy and smoky ground. You can wear this fragrance particularly well in autumn and spring. This scent suits a fuckload of occasions and I would recommend it to anyone who has the money to buy it!!!

Myths for Men is very much underrated. The Iris is there throughout, giving a nice powdery floral base to fragrance. But the wood, leather and smokiness are particularly strong in the opening, giving a very masculine oud and muskiness. I would put Myths on par with Jubilation XXV and right behind Refkection Man as the best of the house. I absolutely love the Amouage fougeres, but this is powdery, Oriental heaven.

Ok let's see about this one. Reminds me of something cold, maybe futuristic with solitude vibes. Can't explain it. Milan said it is the perfect scent for funerals (?? 😂) Anyway.. it is extremely good. I get compliments for some reason although it is kinda hard to wear but I guess brings joy to the nose. Sadly it is discontinued.. if you get your hands on one, just rock it! It is weird and masterfully blended.

Wow. Just received a full bottle and about two hours into a first wearing I declare this beautiful. If I didn't have such a large collection I'd consider this signature worthy. Must enjoy smoky ash and chrysanthemum, which is right up my alley as I burn Japanese chrysanthemum incense regularly. I can't stop smelling my arm, and I really needed this after the disappointing Xerjoff I received yesterday.

My favorite for night. Heartbroken to hear it is discontinued, but I imagine the smoke is difficult to wear depending on your body chemistry. For the first few minutes I question my decision to wear it at all, the first hour I smell like a used car owned by a chain-smoker, but the 8-9 hours after that I feel like a million bucks. I'm not sure I smell the rose under the chrysanthemum-leather-ash-rum.

finally i got the 2018 batch. The scent is really incense and i got some Chrysanthemum .. the one that goes along with this scent in my collection is tauer incense rose.. which is tauer bring incense and rose!! And too bold for daily use but this amouage is softer and still has amazing staying power... previously I had the female version from this myth.. . and both of them are unique

This is a divine journey which brings you all the way down to dust and ash and then will rise you up to the heaven of art. It's the work of magic not just scent, you need to be ready for this. It's not simple love from the first sniff. This is peak to conquer. Longevity - ethernal. Sillage - huge. Occasion - whenever you want. It's your alterego to feed not the crowd to please.
