Oud Zuhal from the Arab House of Perfumery Niche Haute Luxury Amouage from the Sultanate Of Oman is a Oriental Woody Spicy Amber Smoky Unisex perfume with a masculine inclination. It comes in the concentration that Amouage has named 'Essence De Parfum' with 30% essential oils. It was released in mid-February 2026/Ramadhan 1447 in celebration of this Muslim Holy Month and as part of The Essences Collection in Limited Edition Exclusive to the Gulf Region (Khalij). A Rare Piece Worthy Of An Amouage Collector! Oud Zuhal opens with a powerful warm opening by a trio of spices formed by the spicy duet of dark black pepper with the brightness of pink pepper and dominated by a hearty dose of a creamy and fresh cardamom at the same time, and that reminded me of the gourmet sweetness of a pistachio, providing an immediate burst of spicy heat bringing a vibrant energy to the perfume right at the start. The heart of the fragrance features an intense and luxurious fusion of an excellent patchouli and the exceptional precious 'oud of 'Assam, here is where the earthy dark richness meets the smoky, stable, resinous, animalic character of one of perfumery's most prized ingredients, while the golden sweetness of amber flows as a lingering sensation of refinement and serenity. As the fragrance settles, an opulent base of amber accords of beans coumarin and vanilla and woody with the full-bodied softness of Indonesian oud blending with the greenish of cedar and the creaminess of sandalwood unfolding gently with a balsamic, woody and extremely elegant character. In its final stages, the iconic 'oud of 'Assam meets slivers of the 'oud Merauke in a calculated balance: the former is smoky, animalic, and slightly corral, and the latter is of a sweet, woody, coniferous, moist earthy smokiness. And together they give the fragrance a complex texture, personality and striking presence that reflect the opulence and luxury of 'oud in its highest characteristics. The quality of the ingredients is excellent and the performance is also above average, but without being too invasive. Oud Zuhal was born as an experimental project by Amouage where its main focus of component and raw material is 'Oud: and the observation of the effect of its chips [which are more porous than sandalwood chips] centered on the aging process of the perfume and its evolution. The characteristics of 'oud are revealed in its raw intensity and in its purest form, with a dark boldness, and dry herbaceous touches and permeated by a barnyard profile reinforced by a deep smoky woody cipriol, which give it refinement and sophistication. But at its core lies a profound exploration of the 'oud in its multiple dimensions. From the smoky, dark, animalistic facets of crude oud oil to the polished, soft, luminous texture developed through aging, each step reveals a new layer of sophistication. Oud Zuhal belongs unmistakably to the Essences family, yet it does not feel content merely to echo it. The same polished, slow-aged Amouage signature is here, but this time it turns toward oud with an idea so unusual, and so beautifully realized, that it feels less like a variation and more like a quiet breakthrough. Where its siblings explore light, cream, smoke, and shadow through other materials, Oud Zuhal takes one of perfumery’s heaviest substances and teaches it an impossible grace. In a way, Oud Zuhal is to Lustre what Frederic Malle’s Hope is to Promise. Same bloodline, same intelligence behind the construction, but where Lustre is warm and earthbound in the most beautiful sense, Oud Zuhal performs the same improbable act that Hope performs on Promise: it takes what is rich and grounded and makes it ascend. Not a correction. Not a replacement. A parallel vision, oriented toward a different kind of beauty. It opens on black pepper, pink pepper, and cardamom, and those spices do more than brighten the composition. They seem to unfasten gravity from it. From the first moments, the oud does not advance with the usual mass, density, or animalic insistence. It rises. The best way I can describe it is this: Oud Zuhal smells like oud after gravity has been persuaded to loosen its hold. That is what makes it so arresting. The oud is not stripped of character, nor polished into something sterile. Its darkness remains, but its rougher edges are rounded and suspended inside amber, as though the material had been lifted into a finer atmosphere where everything coarse is still present, only transfigured. The effect is airy, luminous, and strangely sovereign. It does not smell thin. It smells elevated. What seals this impression is the construction itself: the concentrate is infused for 42 days with Indonesian Merauke oud chips, while the alcohol is aged separately for six months in handmade French oak barrels. You can feel that process in the fragrance’s surface, in the patina it wears, in the way it seems seasoned from within. Not embellished. Not decorated. Ripened into itself. I feel fortunate to own it. Oud Zuhal is not simply another beautiful oud fragrance. It is an argument for what oud can become when treated with patience, imagination, and absolute control. Come to it knowing it shares blood with the Essences line and you will recognize the family immediately, but do not mistake that kinship for predictability. Something genuinely new was risked here, and it succeeded, fully, on its own terms. That someone thought to age a perfume with oud chips and arrived at this feels like a minor miracle of perfumery: not oud made louder, darker, or more feral, but oud made to hover.

Got a rare sample of this yesterday and I wore it today in summer in 34°C. It starts off quite sharp and green so it opens up your nasal passages quite quickly. I believe that this is around a cardamom accord, the mid is woody and resinous and the drydown is quite smoky. It has a beautiful sweet note running through it that I completely missed when I first wore it but once you catch it you will smell it throughout the rest of the wear. Sits closer to skin unlike the typical Amouage beasts and lasted around 8 hours for me. It's not your usual 'barnyard' or 'fecal' oud, this one is almost medicinal and very much reminds me of an expensive spa smell. It's very Zen, very meditative and I would wear it in every season, and in all weathers. I wouldn't say that it's a date night fragrance unless your date is Buddhist or very Earth witchy. I'm impressed but I would suggest that you get a good foundation in real ouds before you buy because this is an oud lovers dream. It's not a mass pleasing fragrance either, this is for when you are having a 'me' day. I'm hitting the drydown now as I'm typing this and the sweet notes are really shining now. It feels lighter than vanilla and it smells like stardust in a fantasy planet. It's almost a sugar note, very pleasant indeed!

Oud Zuhal feels like Amouage decided to stop “translating” oud and just present it as it is. The opening is unapologetically dry and spicy—pepper and cardamom hit immediately, giving it a slightly sharp, almost medicinal edge. Then the oud comes in, and this is where it separates itself: it’s not the clean, polished oud you find in designer releases. It’s earthy, a bit dirty, slightly animalic—very much in the direction of real oud rather than an interpretation. What I appreciate is the evolution. It doesn’t stay harsh. As it develops, the composition becomes smoother and more rounded, with amber quietly softening the edges without turning it sweet. You still get the character, just in a more controlled way. Performance is exactly what you’d expect from an extrait—long-lasting with a noticeable presence, but it doesn’t scream unnecessarily. This is not a crowd-pleaser and definitely not a blind buy. But if you’re into oud that actually smells like oud—with texture, depth, and a bit of attitude—this is one of the more honest releases from Amouage in a while.

this is amazing AMAZING, not a disappointment like others mentioned lol this is great, the few disappointing things are: This is a limited edition perfume, and my bank account. This starts off EXTREELY STRONG CARDAMOM AND PEPPERY, then literally the next second, it’s a caramel oud w heavy cardamom and black pepper. This is a very hard perfume to wear, I think it’s mainly perfect for the GCC due to very big meetings, weddings, and events in general. This is perfect for that, I don’t think getting two of them really matters either, this is THE event scent, dates, whatever you consider a huge event. 9.5/10, the only issue is the insane fucking price point like holy shit 😭 but imo this is such an amazing perfume, I really thought it’d be like Indonesian Oud by Zegna (discontinued) but it only has the Oud w/o the rose.

It opens with a burst of spice, mostly cardamom and pink pepper. The pink pepper gives it a sparkling brightness. Then it dives into a medicinal slightly cheesy oud with a backbone of chocolatey dark patchouli. The assam oud here definitely has a good bit of funk without being overbearing. Then it dries down to a beautiful smoky oud with an amber backbone. The amber reminds me of lustre but not as creamy, it's dry with a wonderful smokiness from the Indonesian oud. I love the opening and drydown, but must admit that the mid is a bit challenging, which I welcome as it's to be expected with assam oud. Overall I'm very happy to have it in my collection.

Beautiful release from amouage, if you like oud oils then this perfum is for you for sure. I can describe as oudy spicy category The cardamom and black pepper notes are the first you going to sniff followed by the Assam oud oil smell with a hint of patchouli earthiness This is my third day of trying it, reacts very differently on skin vs cloth, So once it settles its an Oud oil perfume with a hint of spices Luxurious smell and definitely an Eid day perfume

Oud, Oud, more Oud, and did I mention Oud? That’s basically all you get for the first hour. After that it’s a spicy, woody and almost leathery Oud fragrance. I love layering with it, but not great to wear on its own in my opinion. Smells beautiful, it’s insanely strong and long lasting, but is way too overpriced.

It’s smoooooth not barnyardy to my nose. The cardamom gives it a slight sweetness and the pepper gives it spice. The sweet/spice combo lingers in the background. This is mainly Oud driven and I love that. A lot of ppl say it’s not worth the price point but I enjoy it.

Shame what's become of this once-awesome site with real, transparent reviews. Social media blew up the perfume world, and now it's just petty immaturity burying actual honest opinions. Time for moderators to delete these toxic profiles and clean things up.

Took a couple of wearings to appreciate it, and now easily in my top 3, best Amouage that I have in my collection. That cardamom and Oud combo was hard to appreciate, but I’m glad I have it some time

Smoooooth oud.... Deep, spicy, and resinous.

Bought it from Bloomindale’s at Dubai Mall. For me, this is rather tamed with no strong animalic over or undertones in the Oud. Smoky, mildly aromatic and mildly spicy. It behaves better on skin and is a cross between traditional Oud oil and spray perfume. I put 3 sprays: 2 on skin and one on the cloth. Stayed as an intimate scent with proper profile on the skin but on the cloth settled quickly like the profile of an oud oil with the mildly smoky oudy base. This is a Friday prayer / special occasion in GCC kind of profile and not loud at all. The blending is great (no surprises) but I didn’t notice the trademark Amouage frankincense as the lead anywhere. Try before you buy and don’t fret if you cannot get a bottle of this limited version. At this point, I personally would enjoy the Purpose 50 and Jubilation profiles more. Masculine and all weather safe for special occasions. Shukran Habibi!

This isn’t a review of the fragrance, as I do not reside in a GCC country and thus do not have access to it, but yet another middle eastern exclusive for the line that’s supposedly the brand’s “mass-appealing” hitter (the social media men have made sure of that, I’ve been compelled to pick up a bottle of Outlands myself) feels like an odd business decision. Many influencers aren’t going to get their hands on these to review and promote (most are still struggling to acquire Sindbad) and even then reviewing exclusives always comes with the air of “you were paid to talk about this weren’t you?”. People aren’t interested in what they can’t get, unlike what old economists would argue constitutes luxury. All in all, seems like a self-defeating and expensive strategy, unless the middle eastern market for Amouage specifically is so huge that the wider world doesn’t contribute nearly enough to make up the costs. Notes look interesting enough, but then again a middle eastern company making an oud fragrance isn’t exactly breaking new ground is it?

Imagine being soo outraged that a perfume isn't being sold in your country. Almost all designer-niche perfumes are late to the GCC market and we wait patiently for them to arrive. Sometimes some perfumes just never come to the GCC and it sucks. You know what we do about it? We shut up. If we want it real bad, we try to get it through a friend who is travelling or wait years for third party sellers to bring it to our market. We don't leave bad reviews of perfumes we've never smelled out of spite just because it isn't being sold to us. Grow up. P.S. I got to smell it and it's spectacular.

I had purchased 4 bottles of this and tried it twice one on skin and once on tester strip and I don't dare to speak or give a rating ....to me this is a complex one from amouage ...a true curve ball. I need time with the juice to put my nose and head around it .... interesting and expensive. Assam oil and Indonesian oud oil are expensive and and I have many 5/10 tola oud oil from different places. If perfumes is not your thing stay away or enter with respect and humility Same goes for oud if you don't like the smell believe the problem is YOU

Redundant DNA. It’s ambery and I can see why some compare it to Lustre. The oud is smooth and not in full deep/complex nature. Honestly the more it dries down the more I think of leather/sandalwood fragrance. So not a true oud fragrance if that’s what you are looking for. Lastly the quality of this line is good. It gives me “smoothness” except for that Line618...
