I’m clearly in the minority with this one. I think it’s a truly fantastic fragrance, assuming you like green/woody scents and especially palo santo/davana. I think Bertie did a fabulous job combining a bunch of unusual notes to create something pretty special. Have I smelled fragrances with a similar “vibe?” Oh, most definitely... Is this one of the better piney/green/woody scents I’ve tried in a while? You bet your cute butt it is. It opens with a beautiful piney/hazelnut/peppery/sandalwood/davana with a beautiful undercurrent of cinnamon and cardamom. I don’t find the hazelnut as prominent I expected. I also think the cinnamon/cardamom with the hazelnut and pine is quite unique and maybe throwing some off. The spice takes a lot of the bitter bite out of the heavy use of davana here. Davana can be a lot when used heavily and is very green and bitter. There’s a lot of davana here kind of like in Ambre Chromatique but backed by laconic hazelnut/sandalwood and palo santo rather than amber and a ton of osmanthus. I don’t find them similar except in the heavy davana note. (Much prefer Reasons to Ambre Chromatique, if anyone is asking)... As it opens more on skin, I get a ton of the similar sandalwood you find in Lustre and Outlands. I personally am finding this sandalwood note from the wood chips is exceptionally creamy and smooth in all 3. Unlike in the other two, it’s not backed by sweetness/amber/vanilla etc. instead, you get a minty Palo Santo/lactonic sandalwood/davana/musk combo that I cannot get enough of. I’m with redolessence on this one, I find this simply stunning. It needs time to macerate but I’m so happy I have this in my collection. I think you really need to be into green scents, Bertie, niche, and Amouage. I don’t find this a crowd pleaser at all. I’m a sucker for green woody scents and this is one of the best I’ve come across lately. Scent 9.5/10 - I think people might change their minds on this one like other Amouage’s after initial release. I could see this becoming super popular once d/c. My eyes rolled in a good way smelling this (same with outlands and lustre tbh) Longevity 8/10 - not bad but expected a bit more from Amouage and worst of the 3 Sillage 8.5/10 - nuclear at first but once it dries down it sits closer to skin on me. Bottle 6/10 - hate the refillable part for reselling market. Not gonna matter for me but makes fakes easy bc they can replace the juice in an authentic bottle.... Overall 9/10 - despite its issues, I adored this from first sniff. Gender - I think anyone can wear anything they want. That said, this would fit a traditionally masculine scent profile Age range - 35+ pretty mature Much to my surprise from, on hella deal, I was able to obtain the perfumers batch of this, which I find pretty cool it’s the first batch Bertie made for them. I have the perfumers batch for all but Outlands, which is sad, as it’s by far the easiest wear of the 3 and the most crowd pleasing. My wife absolutely loves Outlands. Everyone that smells it does so it feels more designer bc of that. I personally find all 3 essences to be very well made perfumes that I truly appreciate and am lucky to own. That said, I think most will prefer Outlands then Lustre then Reasons... I prefer Reasons then Lustre then Outlands. This one is getting way more hate than is deserved imo. Absolutely gorgeous woody concuction, my favorite of the 3 essence line. Starts off green and slightly sour(maybe its the the designer cinnamon or spice note). The green notes remind me of crushed leaves, jungle, I get a photo realistic image of healthy pine tree that's growing its pine cones and it smells like green nature. As it dries down I get buttery, musky, ceamy woody and sandalwood notes that remind me of the sweetness and creaminess of oud but without the stank and the darkness (probably the combo of nutty notes, palo santo, cashmeran, musk, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood notes) also the green notes of the opening is still present faintly. it stays linear for the whole day on the skin .A wonderful creamy, woody and green scent that ia a must try imo. شروع فوق العاده زیبا از نوت های سبز و چوبی و رایحه کمی ترش(یاد آور نوت دارچین مانند دیزاینری)، نوت های سبز برای من یاد آور برگ درخت له شده یا درخت کاجی هست که تو فصل بهار در حال میوه دادنه و رایحه سبزش کل فضا رو پر کرده. هر چقدر این عطر روی پوست بمونه حس کره ای و چوبی عطر زیاد تر میشه که این نوت چوبی و کره ای و کمی شیرین و مشکی-مخملی مانند رو میسازه که من شخصا تو هیچ عطری ندیدم که با توجه به نوت ها حاصل ترکیب نوت های نرم و آجیلی، مولکول کشمیران، مشک،چوب سدار، چوب پالو سانتو و چوب صندله که فقط و فقط برای درک زیبایی و جادوی رایحش باید استشمامش کنید، شاید بگم نرمی و حس ضخیم و مخملی مانند عود رو داره بدون ذره ای رایحه انیمالیک یا حس چرمی، فوق العاده نیش در عین حال همه پسند. اگه از ترکیبات سبز و چوبی خوشتون میاد بدون شک باید این عطرو تست کنید.

I had three official decants of each of the original release of this new collection from Amouage. Reasons is by far the best, the most nuanced, elegant, and alluring. I have come to the conclusion that people (mostly immature ticktock kids) hype fragrances based on their name, I don't think they can even tell fragrances apart. Hear me out. 'God of Fire', 'Outlands', 'Blue Talisman', etc. They are not influenced by the scents, as the first and last are designer level meh quality, they're influenced by cartoons and anime and names, that's their age, how they grew up and their mentality. If you're one of them, sorry, not sorry. While Lustre is easier to understand, and Outlands is the kid's choice to the club (the well off kid that is), this one is the special one. Reasons talks to me, brings me back in time to local middle eastern bazars and traditional neighborhoods, the souq, the beautiful lady with stunning dark brown eyes that you always want to sneak a look at her when no one is watching. This has a story, it's poetry in bottle, and it's poetry you can listen to for a while, its for you and those close to you, those who matter. It's that warm cup of tea on a cold morning in the cafe that you crave and as a routine of joy. Spices, warmth, and elegance combined, well done Bertrand Duchaufour...well done indeed. Reasons is where my money will go.

This is a beautiful fragrance- probably the best in terms of smell and complexity from the Essences line (although I’m partial to Outlands because of the performance). Scent quality and profile: In this era of mass appealing scents that flood the markets and social media today, Amouage Reasons stands out as a welcome digression. It evokes a beautiful past; something in this scent brings back happy memories keeping you in a pleasant limbo - that you don’t wish to leave. That’s where the problem also lies. Performance: The beautiful limbo is short lived - you’re ruthlessly tugged out of it. Projection is average, sillage too. The scent stays on the skin a good 15+ hours but you literally need to stab the elbow crease with your nose to detect any. Overall, this scent is akin to a firefly which radiates maximum light during its short lifespan... which is also why Amouage Reasons is worth every spray and re-spray. A massively underrated fragrance and only appreciable when one has matured enough, either in life or in their fragrance journey. Grateful to have this masterpiece in my collection.

Nose Note #895 I don't like the sour opening of it, but after 5-10 minutes it becomes much better. Immediately reminded me of Ebene Fume and even after weeks this mental image hasn't faded. I just feel like this has some kind of red berry note just like Ebene Fume (even though neither mention it). But Reasons is much better, it has this absolutely beautiful milky wood accords - I can't think of anything remotely similar. For me it's all about this milky wood accord, I can't describe it better. I smell no pine, no myrrh. The spiciness is mild and feels rounded. Actually, another comparison I'd make is with spicy milk tea, yes!! Performance is heading towards "long-lasting", projection is mediocre. Overall performance is nothing particularly outstanding. Incomparable to Outlands. Lets call this one of the least offensive Amouage fragrance ever (this and Reflection), so in a way it's a big pro for people that want office safe Amouage. To my nose this is 100% unisex, no gender qualities attached. 8/10, oh, this spicy tea with milk...

I fell in love immediately. Something with this fragrance reminds me of the smells when I sat at the chair in my grandfather's desk at the newspaper office. A bunch of middle aged men all trying to upstage each other with watches, cars, rings, shoes and fragrance. This plants be squarely back in 1984 but maintains a fresh new take on something that harkens back to a different age. Putting this on pulse points is extremely effective, when my heart rate jumped from stress the sillage of this fragrance exploded outward and I got a wonderful blast of it. This generally is very restrained and subtle but I would caution, test it well because if you hit the right points and your bpm goes up you could cause a catastrophe of people trying to find who's wearing this scent and demanding to know what it is. That being said, due to its typically restrained nature it's going to be a sleeper more than a crowd pleaser and definitely not going to grab attention unless you're active or stressed.

I received a sample of Reasons with another purchase. Although this is a masculine-leaning scent and the fragrance profile is light years away from what I buy for myself (feminine florals and floral orientals), it turned out to be unexpectedly addictive. It has a pine-dominant opening, evoking forest woodlands, but as it dries down it reveals a subtly warm and resinous depth. The interplay of woods and spice creates an almost hypnotic quality that keeps drawing you back. It’s so smooth and the high quality of the ingredients is undeniable. I am enjoying the Reasons experience and can’t understand the hate directed at this fragrance.

Reasons est exceptionnel, c'est un parfum boisé et crémeux , doux , lisse presque beurré. Et dans cette catégorie la de parfum c'est le plus beau et le meilleur que j'ai eu à sentir. Reasons contient tellement de notes qu'il est difficile de les déceler, elles sont toutes excellemment travaillé et le rendu est splendide. Le coté crémeux du santal , du cedre et du paolo santo est à couper le souffle La qualité des matières premières est une fois de plus avec Amouage... Époustouflante ! Il projette tres bien et la tenue est tout aussi correct , il est plus performant que Outlands. Un chef d'oeuvre de la parfumerie ✨

I went into a department store just to smell this and see what all the shit bagging was about, and absolutely fell in love with this fragrance! Lustre and Outlands weren’t overly special, but this smelt like money! This smells like a sophisticated man in a suit, who is confident and makes informed decisions. This is absolutely beautiful and signature scent worthy. I found a deal with 30% off so I jumped on it and I’m extremely happy. Would I pay the retail asking price? No way! But very few times I’ve paid full retail for anything.

After a couple of wearings, I want to revisit my review. Reasons is a pretty blend of clean woods and sweet resins. Besides those two accords, there is lots of warm spices such as cinnamon. There is also a warm and almost roasted nuttiness (probably coming from hazelnut) that makes reasons addictive. This is what I have always wanted from the stronger with you line... A warm, sweet, spicy, and woody nuttiness. The only complaint I can really give this perfume is it’s performance. Relatively weak juice especially for the brand.

This is an introspective perfume, a study in contrasts and quiet complexities. It feels like wrapping yourself in a cashmere shawl on a cold winter night, with a steaming cup of hot chocolate in your hand—a cocoon of comfort and luxury. I’ve sampled all three fragrances from the Essences collection, and this is the only one I chose to purchase. In fact, it came down to this or Chanel’s Coromandel. Ultimately, I returned Coromandel and opted for this instead—and I have absolutely no regrets.

My favorite of the Essences Collection, followed by Lustre, then Outlands. Performance, unfortunately, is in the opposite order of my preference between the three fragrances, with Reasons being the worst performing and Outlands being a beast (although I've received compliments for it long after application, so anosmia might play a role.) This one is much more versatile than the other two and the most distinct from the others. It's gorgeous, highly recommend.

Underrated as hell, but still lacks so much character that I’ve come to know and love from amouage. It has a similar creamy almost sun tan lotion-like creaminess like guidance, but it’s much more dry, woody, and the sweetness is very moderate. It’s just so smooth and creamy and woody. Nothing wild, but super nice. I wouldn’t purchase this because it’s so “boring” for an Amouage, but it’s an objectively pleasant smell

Reasons is very versatile, surprisingly. Nice woody amber that smells luxurious, and it stays long on skin and clothes, with a whole work day longevity. It projects softly that I can sniff every now and then. The ceramics flacon stands out beautifully. Reasons is not a groundbreaking scent, but it's absolutely a beautiful fragrance that meant to be worn anytime if you like, with pride and confidence.

Reasons doesn’t shout, it smoulders. Spicy, a little mysterious, and impossibly smooth, it smells like the kind of man who knows exactly what he’s doing but doesn’t need to prove it. Honestly, if you’re wearing this, you are the reason. Ridiculously good. I’m going against the herd and ranking this as my favourite of the collection.

Update on my previous review, I feel it smells close to Le Labo Eucalyptus 20...not side by side, but the wearing experience is very similar. Reasons performs better and feels better quality. I have both full bottles and this impression is from multiple wearing experiences.

This is an absolute stunner, very nostalgic of how perfume use to small in the 80's and early 90's. It's Blended beautifully and very smooth. Might not be what people are used to with armorages style but nonetheless it's beautiful. Leans feminine in my opinion.

Reason is a decent dry earthy scent, you'll get the davana pine and patchouli here, at least for me. To me this is similar to Patchouli Mania Essential Parfum and a light weight Moncler Pour Homme. Nice and musculine but the price isn't worth it.

I receive so many positive compliments literally every time I wear this. It's probably my most complimented fragrance. Definitely my favorite from the Essences collection, I hate it that doesn't get more love. So, so beautiful.

I particularly like this perfume more than outlands and the rating is very low for me. I was execting something sweet or nutty but is not. It is woody with palo santo, myrrh and pine niddles...these play the game.

It's amazing. Don't listen to fragrantica's negative reviews, most people will like this scent but of course try it if you can before buying. This & Outlands are full bottle worthy for me !

The more I wear it the more I love it. The performance is very good without shouting out loud, makes it an easy to wear luxury. This is class and charm in a bottle.

A beautiful reinterpretation of Amouage Memoir Man.

After the sharpened incense and commanding structure of Purpose 50 yesterday, continuing with Amouage shifts the focus rather than the house. Where Purpose 50 leaned into precision and vertical clarity, Reasons appears to trade that austerity for warmth and density. On paper, the structure suggests darker sweetness, balsamic resins, and textured spice woven through woods, less crystalline, more enveloping. It still speaks the language Amouage has refined in recent years: layered, structured, and assertive. But the tone here feels heavier, more grounded, and perhaps more indulgent. Let’s see what Reasons ultimately gives us to believe in once it meets the skin. Opening: The opening is warm, balsamic, and woody. The primary notes I get are davana, cardamom, myrrh, and palo santo, with davana and cardamom clearly leading the structure. Davana arrives first with a sweet, dark, almost liqueur-like richness that carries a noticeable anise nuance reminiscent of licorice. It feels dense and slightly herbal rather than fruity, introducing a shadowed sweetness that immediately sets a deeper tone. Cardamom follows with an aromatic spice that is both warm and gently sharp, its camphorous edge cutting through the darker sweetness of the davana and adding clarity. It keeps the opening from feeling overly rich, lending structure and lift without cooling the warmth. Myrrh builds beneath them with a balsamic, resinous presence, contributing a soft, ambered sweetness that reinforces the richness while adding depth and cohesion. Lastly, palo santo anchors the composition with a creamy woodiness touched by subtle smoke, rounding the sharper spices and resins with a smooth, sacred warmth. I also get some aromatic, evergreen-like woodiness in the background from the pine, but it's distant. Together, these elements create a layered introduction that feels grounded, textured, and quietly opulent. Dry Down: The dry down is warm, balsamic, and woody. The primary notes I get are myrrh, benzoin, palo santo, and pine, with myrrh and benzoin clearly shaping the structure. The myrrh maintains its resinous, balsamic depth, carrying forward the same warm, slightly sweet undertone introduced earlier while feeling fuller and more settled. It gives the composition a sense of gravity, anchoring the sweetness without allowing it to become indulgent. Benzoin rises alongside it, reinforcing the resinous accord but introducing a smoother, more vanillic tone. Where myrrh feels darker and more textured, benzoin adds a softer glow, subtly sweet and rounded, doubling down on warmth without turning overtly gourmand. Palo santo continues its role from the opening, offering a creamy, faintly smoky woodiness that now feels quieter and more integrated, smoothing the sharper edges of spice and resin. Finally, pine becomes more noticeable in this stage, providing an evergreen backdrop that adds freshness and structure beneath the balsamic core. The davana lingers as well, still carrying its sweet, licorice-like nuance, though now clearly secondary, adding a trace of dark sweetness rather than steering the composition. There is also a subtle familiarity in this stage that vaguely calls to mind Initio Parfums Prives’ Oud for Happiness, not in composition, but in the way the creamy woods and resinous sweetness blend into a smooth, almost meditative warmth. Performance: Projection is strong from the outset, extending roughly six feet within the first hour and establishing a confident presence. The scent trail is equally substantial early on, leaving a dense and noticeable impression without feeling chaotic. After a few hours, performance remains steady, with projection still hovering around the same distance and sillage only slightly lighter yet clearly perceptible. Around the seven hour mark, there is little meaningful change from the three hour point, indicating consistent endurance rather than a sharp drop off. The fragrance transitions into a skin scent at approximately the ten hour mark. It is worth noting that around the third hour, the scent became difficult for me to detect without close proximity, while others could still perceive it clearly. This suggests that the composition may be particularly easy to go nose-blind to, and that some complaints regarding performance may stem more from anosmia than from actual weakness. When to Wear: Reasons is best suited for fall and winter, where its warmth and resinous depth feel most natural. The lighter woods and subtle evergreen facets give it enough lift to function well during the daytime, particularly in cooler weather when that dry woodiness feels crisp rather than heavy. As the day transitions into evening, the balsamic resins and darker sweetness become more pronounced, making it especially compelling for dinners, formal gatherings, and special occasions. It carries a composed, refined presence that pairs well with tailored clothing and intentional settings. However, despite its versatility across day and night, it does not feel appropriate for casual errands or office environments, where its depth and character could feel overly assertive. Blind Buy: Like most of Amouage’s catalog, Reasons is not a safe blind buy. While the composition is well constructed and cohesive, its core elements are distinctive enough to require personal compatibility. The dark sweetness from davana, the balsamic weight of myrrh and benzoin, and the textured woods create a profile that leans warm and resinous rather than universally approachable. None of the materials feel poorly handled, but taken together they form a fragrance with character and presence rather than neutrality. For those unfamiliar with resin-forward compositions or unsure about licorice-tinged sweetness woven into woods, sampling is strongly recommended before committing, especially at this price point. Final Verdict: Reasons is undeniably well crafted. The balsamic resins are smooth and cohesive, the woods are polished rather than abrasive, and the licorice-tinged sweetness from the davana adds a distinctive signature that sets it apart within the house’s broader catalog. The construction feels intentional and balanced, with a dry yet enveloping character that reflects Amouage’s modern direction. That said, while I appreciated the quality and enjoyed the wear, the scent profile did not resonate with me as strongly as some of my personal favorites from the brand. There is also a degree of overlap in feeling with my bottle of Initio’s Oud for Happiness, particularly in the warm, resinous woodiness of the dry down, which reduces its necessity in my collection. Ultimately, I view Reasons as a finely executed fragrance that showcases craftsmanship and depth, but not one that justifies its price point for me personally. Amouage's whole mojo has been lost for me. The output of their fragrances hasn't completely 'gone to shit' under Salmon, as some would argue but despite liking a couple of recent releases there's definitely less excitement and anticipation about them for me personally now. There's an insipid, homogenization which feels commercially driven rather than passionate. The whole colour palate and concepts the pastel (and in this case beige) bottles a telling indication of exactly what I'm grasping at. I personally like Bertrand's work, could and would easily wear this perfume, it's fine, (SPOILER ALERT:) it just doesn't excite me. It's milky lactone body is pebble smooth and actually has much more going on than you'd think, I bet Berty used a million materials to make this but the average person (or even avid enthusiast) would dismiss it as boring, woody dross. So I get a tickle of spice in the top, potentially that marriage of pink pepper and cinnamon, very Amouage you'd think but that is fleeting and it soon retreats to a comforting cashmere wood, cardamom, nutty hazelnut/pistachio, sandalwood cream. The mention of cypriol here might be haunting it slightly and the strangeness of palo santo (thankfully without that awful off rubber note) could be playing a part in augmenting that sandalwood accord too? It's all to vague though. I am a sucker for nutty, broadly musky driven, low lying perfumes but this isn't quite doing it for me. Perfectly nice, somewhat creative but lacking the flare of Amouage in the Chong era. For the money, you're not getting the experience you used to get with Amouage, and for that REASON, I'm out. Update: 17/12/24 Yeah I'm wearing it today and I can confirm that Reasons is definitely not for me. I like the muskiness in the base and I think it's a creative perfume, I've smelled stuff like this before and it's not my scene, I don't hate it but I'm not a fan either. Update again 17/12/25 Oh my god it's a year to to the day that I'm wearing this.... what a mad coincidence!!! Genuinely didn't know I'd done this. Mindblowing!!! Anyway I'm much more of a fan, the creamy lactonic woods of palo santo is perfect in here. I've tried a Duchafour for a natural brand where he uses the Palo Santo and it has all the minty, used condom awfulness I know that material to possess. Here he does a masterful job of getting all it's creamy, woodiness and none of the bad stuff, it's still hauntingly wierd though. The news flash from 12 months previous is that I'm enjoying this today, still probably wouldn't buy it because of the price but it's a unique proposition and a very, very creative fragrance. Way up in my estimations.

Definitely doesn't smell like a traditional Amouage fragrance I'm used to (due to the perfumer I.e. Bertrand Duchaufour being told to do something "new" I'd imagine), but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad per say, just 'different' from what I myself, and others who are familiar with Amouage; are used to. It opens up on my skin with a blast of hazelnut and spices with some pine in the backz that quickly gets replaced by what I'd say the core of the scent is after the opening, which is a soft amber with Resinous woods that smell like they're smouldering to an extent, the spicyness and the piney accord from the opening both stay into the drydown aswell, but they're very much in the background in this case, and finally there is also a very subtle muskyness I can detect but it's very very far in the and only appears later into the dry down. This is perfectly unisex, good for the colder months and days, I'd say it leans more to a casual wear leaning fragrance but I can see a use case for formal occasions, speaking of that, on my skin I personally get medium-strong projection for around 4 hours then it becomes a soft medium projecting fragrance for the rest of its duration, of which I get around 11 hours. Overall despite this being my least favourite in the "Essence Line", I still think its a beautiful Fragrance that I can appreciate from am artistic perspective that I closely associate Amouage Perfumery with in general, I still like it, but I'm sure someone else would enjoy it better than me, solid release. Final Verdict is a 7.8/10 for me

Got a good sample of this with another purchase and I have to say, I`m a bit surprised at how differently people seem to perceive this fragrance. Starts of with a clear pine needle accord, along with warm spices and a warm nutty overtone. Woody notes appearing more center stage throughout the drydown, but there is a soft nutty sweetness that remains. Someone said they feel it smells like a grandpa fragrance. I can`t agree. There is nothing sharp or very loud about it. At least the stuff my grandpa was wearing was of a way more pungent calibre. I find this very harmoniously blended, gentle, and perfectly unisex. I`m a woman and very much enjoy this on myself. Sillage is decent in the first 3hrs after that it becomes a lot more intimate. But longevity is decent. I can easily still smell it on my skin the next day. I find it very easy to like. But here comes the big BUT... yeah... not for that price tag. If this came at the general Amouage price tag it would already still be slightly overpriced, but this one has an even higher ticket and... no... I do think you will find something very similar for a much better price. I`ll enjoy my sample, but I`ll never purchase this

Kendisine göre idealleri var olan bir parfüm. Kişilik sahibi bir parfüm. Ben bunu imza kokusunu yapacağım diyen kişi kendi benliğini seven bir insandır. Nedense biraz din ile uğraşmayı seven bir kişi nüansı var. Derinlere inmekten hiç korkmayan, psikolojik zorluklar yaşanmadan derine inmeyi seven bir kişi. Ama asosyellik var bence. Opening, minty cinnamon, hazelnuts, its somehow a little bit sour, reminds me of sour candy's. But after the opening, the magic happens. You get wiffs of the pine, its not overwelming, or a to much of a pine dna. No its perfectly blended combined with the comforting aspects from the amber & cashmeran. Then it dries down to this creamy sandalwood, with a calming meditative pine in the background Its just an scent that doesnt scream i need attention, it sits close to the skin and it is just a calming, comforting, scent, a small bubble surrounding you. For me its the best out of the essence's collection, this one really matches the concept of the Essence line. Yes, what do we do, almost every piece out the collection smells like something that is already out there. But reasons, is the most unique one for me Underrated

I was brought up in the middle east, and Reasons, is a photorealistic trip to the spice and nut roasteries we would go to in simpler times. The cardamon, pepper and cinnamon smell like spices on balsam wood counters with hazelnuts resting in hessian sacks or burlap bags exposed to the resinous tinged air, welcoming in passers by. There is a lightness of sundrenched woods that is warming and uplifting in equal measure. It is such a well made niche perfume, and I am taken back by the low rating, but I don't think it is one that will necessarily get a lot of compliments. It reminds me of Killian's Apple Brandy on the Rocks or Intoxicated with more nostalgia.

It opens pretty synthetic and spicy...not so nice however it gets better by the second. You can feel Anis spice and cinnamon, but there’s this play dough scent that bother me 🤔💭 as it dries down more warm and wonderful spices starts to show up in a beautiful way. I forgot to mention this one is pretty milky or la tonic, not a fan of that either. Well..my first impression is a very good fragrance however the price tag is bananas 🍌 is definitely not worth that price. As for a first impression I give it a 8 out of 10 very good stuff.

I would say that least favorite from the collection. It’s a very deep and dark woody scent with lots of spices and beautiful amber-y and balsamic undertones. But it’s a bit too heavy for my personal taste or maybe something put me off a bit (might be cypriol or davana). Feels quite dry and sharp, but still nicely done though. My ig: scent.guide

This smells very clean, safe and expensive. There is a plenty of nuances and it changes over time to have the "Amouage finish". I would buy Reasons as it is a really pretty smell showing you have a taste, however price is just ridiculous. Saying "overpriced" is like not saying anything.

I don't know but for some reason it smells like a stripped down Lustre to me. So you get less mineral saltiness and also a softer amber. It's also got that green zing to it which makes it fresher. It's more wearable in my opinion but where's the fun in that right?

Spices and lactic acidity at the top make it smell like pickles on the opening. Mid performance, high price, dies in the crowd in terms of character

Subtle spice, pine, nutty, woody, dry, ambery. Very old school and grandpa smelling. It's not for me but I respect the blend and the idea.

It starts with strong dose of Amouage Olibanum, they one I always fall for. The Piney incense that so substantial, My nose go so delightful expecting the next development. As olibanum settle down, it becomes classic amber oud patchouli that round out gradually builded up. However the rim was very refine and page of development is so smooth you don’t know where it start. It also have nutmeg / cardamom tone that I really enjoy presented nicely. This amber is full body you can sniff along the way, and it wear really pleasant. Kind of Incense / oud / patchouli with spice that go gentle. Easy to wear. The release from the essence, from 3. I think they are very gender specify. Lustre is woman while Outlands is man. Even note break down is not close. But the core is kind of there share among each other. I believe these are Akagila wood. Scent, wear strong - doesn’t sharp, pleasant along wear with a nice zing to make you feel. Amuse. Dry down to well of mixture of Davana, Nagamotha, Cashmran and Akigala wood .... If I could point out, I feel like these The Essences by Amouage feel pointless. It gives a vibe of Opus, the Libery Collection but It’s kind of recycling and more dull. It does highlight element of Amouage material so well and wear steady and easy to wear. I can only assume, as Amouage release this in newer bottle. I believe the main point is for Amouage veteran or collector. it is really enjoyable blend and compare to current market release this more than good enough... For that.. that's more than enough... I might.. if I hit discounter in future.

Subtle woody aromatic chypre that feels a bit light and unidimensional in spite of so many ingredients noted in it. The perfume opens with aromatic nutty notes of hazelnut, cardamom and cinnamon. The heart is brief and is headlined by some patchouli, davana and cypriol. The perfume settles on a mossy woody base of oakmoss, woody notes, myrrh and benzoin. The slight masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity, The scent is suited for the older, distinguished gentleman types. Overall pleasant and well composed but does not truly capture the essence of the brand and does ca not match the heft of its early releases. Enjoy!

The worst out of the Amouage Essences collection in my opinion. It's green, resinous & creamy. Not as mass appealing as Lustre or Outlands. I mainly smell the pine, palo santo (reminiscent of the palo santo in Initio Paragon) and myrrh - then, creamy sandalwood - I couldn't pick out the other notes. It's interesting, but I wouldn't wear this. Also, it didn't perform too well on my skin - dried down quickly into a skin scent after just over an hour.

Very well blended. I can definitely pick up the majority of the notes listed, and the result is a pretty darn good scent profile! I think I would like this if it had any projection and longevity. But it is weak weak weak. One of those fragrances you spray and can immediately tell it's not going to perform well. Unless you just have money to burn this fragrance is a terrible investment when considering price to performance.

Starts as a fresh, piney frankincense and cold cardamom, then quickly morphs into traditional medicinal woods, creamy hazelnut and cinnamon for 20 minutes. The mid-phase is a bit of a letdown: a cashmeran, Ode to Dullness vibe playing hide-and-seek with minty toothpaste for about two hours. It has zero projection after that, but leaves a nice, smooth, beige woodiness and clean musk on the skin for a solid 6 hours.

The myrrh is extremely prominent, to my nose it's drowning out almost the entirety of the formulation. There's definitely a green aspect to this as well, very much like English Oak & Hazelnut from Jo Malone but much more subdued. This is also surprisingly muted for an Amouage, even smelling it up close it's not that strong of a scent. Not bad but definitely not my favorite from the house off first impressions.

Definitely worse than I had hoped. It’s not a bad scent profile by any way; it’s just kind of redundant. It’s definitely a scent that I feel like has been done hundreds of times except they added some fresh hazelnut to the top. It’s definitely masculine leaning and a classic scent; however, it’s nothing special

Outlands is the best of the series. This fragrance is nice but smells cheap. I had higher expectations. and its performance is disgraceful for its price.

Mark this the third of three fragrances in the Essences collection that I have tried and failed to be moved by. This is almost exactly like Lustre, and very similar to Outlands as well, it just leans a bit more gourmand than the other two. Subtract some fruity or citrusy top notes, and you find roughly the exact same perfume. Here are the notes from the brand, marked "repeat" if they are notes stated for the other Essences perfumes. Top notes of cardamom (a repeat accord of the Essences line), hazelnut, cinnamon, and schinus molle. Heart and base notes of patchouli (repeat), pine, amber (repeat), cypriol (repeat), davana (repeat), benzoin (repeat), cistus, sandalwood (repeat), cedar (repeat), vetiver, myrrh (repeat), oakmoss, musks (repeat), and palo santo. Additionally, what I've marked as "repeat" is what you smell the most in the perfume. Are you with me now? - Are you seeing what I'm seeing? You get the immediate impression Amouage is doing less stretching of its creative abilities as it is its overhead. In Reasons the pine and vetiver add a nice if yet modest touch to the repeated formula, but the stars of the show are still the baking spices, patchouli, and overdoses of the repeated (ad nauseum) woods and musks. The evolution of the fragrance is unremarkable, save for the vetiver, spicy cedar, and oakmoss slightly picking up their vocal volume. The performance does not disappoint - at least we can still count on Amouage for that. As a whole though, I have to say I'm bored. If you want a high-end semi-sweet spicy woods perfume and don't mind spending a lot money for a perfume of a genre that already crowds our retail shelves, then buy this. I wish I could write more about this perfume but my boredom has ceded to depression and disappointment, and it is clouding my articulative faculties. If my reviews of the full Essences line should act like a timer, then stick a fork in Amouage, it's done.

Wow! Never been a fan of Bertrand Duchaufour and I didn't have any high expectations from Reasons, but this latest release of Amouage sets an all time low bar. I don't think you can go any lower than this - even the gentlemen from the Turkish Bazaars who create a fragrance in front of your eyes for $5 can do a better job. What a non-sense of a fragrance! It smells cheap, plasticky, powdery, woody. Super nondescript, utterly forgettable. A total mess! For $450 you would expect something groundbreaking, to stop people in their tracks when they feel the godly cloud of fragrance you're engulfed in. Is the managerial team at Amouage for real!? Like they are in a meeting room, presented with dozens of potential releases and they smell this non-sense and think 'yeah, this one is really, really, really good, it will sell well, let's price it at a whooping $450!!!!'. What the actual fcuk!? The snobs and die-hard fans of this brand will tell you otherwise, but test for yourself, do not blind buy, do not believe the hype (if there will be any to begin with)!. Personally, I wouldn't pay $50 for it as you can find designer fragrances that smell better, are more intriguing and can make you stand out for that money. I think I can find $2 spray deodorants that are more complex than Reasons. The hell is happening to this house!?

This is a strange fragrance, not so musty dusty as others from the brand in this same vein, but there is an herbal sap aspect that I find strongly repulsive

This is a total disappointment. Synthetic mess that does not have anything to do with Amouage brand.

Maybe it's the paper, but this just comes off as cheap hair spray shampoo musks too me.....
