Rose

It is ironic that this attar is given the generic name “Rose,” while its much busier and more complicated sibling has been named, more specifically, “Taif Rose,” because plain old “Rose” is in fact a simple, classic iteration of nothing but Ta’if rose, and indeed if I had to pick a Ta’if rose reference scent, “Rose” attar would be my choice. The composition actually contains more than just Ta’if: it has an ambergris base, ambergris of the agarwood-free, off-clear variety, which is my favorite, and also a hesperidic medley that seems like it might be a fragment of the great “Homage.” There is just enough of an ambergris and hesperidic accompaniment to give the Ta’if rose a bit more body, and to extend its longevity: it lasts all day (I put it at the low end of the "long lasting" category.), and the lovely Ta’if is always front and center. Troubled by the lack of other notes in the Fragrantica pyramid, I did a side-by-side with "Rose" and the best of my pure Abdul Samed al Qurashi Ta'if rose oils, to confirm my diagnosis. When you’re tired of overly “busy” attars, and just want to wear a simple, flawless Ta’if rose with excellent longevity, one could not possibly do better than “Rose.” For what it is, it is perfect. My score: 8.5/10

yup; Eeyore III summed it up perfectly. there's more than just 'rose' in this, a healthy dose of ambergris (I tried Amouage's 'Pure Amber', which ironically has more in it than amber, i.e., ambergris! anyway, this has the 'Pure Amber' ambergris base in it), as well as some soft sandalwood to soften it. all in all, a nice blend. worth a sniff if you get the chance...
