Santal Sohar

This is unbelievably good. One of the few fragrances I've smelled that has taken me aback by how stunning it is. Starts off very rich to my nose before immediately transforming into a clove-dominant fragrance. After that, it slowly (over the course of hours) loses a lot of the spicy edge of the cloves and settles into a sweet, smooth, and opulent sandalwood. This is delicious and seductive; so glad I found this for half off. Performance seems to be great as well, although I don't think it projects much (not that it would since there is no alcohol in this.) Highly recommend.

0.7ml vial from the official sample set, via the Harrods website. The opening is simultaneously warm and juicy, with pain d’épices / baking spice and a fruitiness that suggests canned mandarin segments in syrup, at least to my nose. It takes on a creamy, vanilla-like character as it dries down into something resembling crème pâtissière. I really like the way this smells, and for me it served as a nice introduction to the scent of real sandalwood. It’s all just too dessert-like and gourmand for me to consider buying and wearing it regularly.

I own all of the amouage attars and this one is my favorite. This fragrance is a darker take on sandalwood, most likely due to the clove. However, when it dries down it has a creaminess that is extremely calming and inviting. When mixed with meander, this fragrance really stands out.

Simple lovely spicy sandalwood interpretation. The central Australian sandalwood note is surrounded by a spicy clove infusion and slight rose and musk. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Somewhat overpriced for what is being offered but worth checking out for sandalwood lovers. Enjoy!

It opens sweet and steamy, with a liquor-like aroma and a nice clove. It continues creamy until it becomes a fabulous panna cotta. Simple but equally beautiful!

This is a clove santal. It opens spicy with considerable clove at front, which makes the wood dry and almost flammable. With time (after 1~2 hours wearing) the spiciness moderates, meanwhile the gourmand aspect surfaces - the combination of clove and the creamy side of santal is reminiscent of "kue lapis" (indonesian layer cake). With the dominant spices, rose is rather muted. To me Santal Sohar is a spicy woody fragrance with a tinge of gourmand vibe.

Sandalwood is the main character; clove is here to give it complexity, and rose is here to polish everything. Sandal isn't super mysterious and dark like Oud; it's quite the opposite. I like sandal more. This perfume doesn't want to be complicated. It's a simple, pleasant, clear woody scent. Lovely.

It has some luban in this but it’s very beautiful when warmed on the skin. Is it worth the price? Absolutely not. But is it beautiful on the skin, yes! The sandalwood is warm dense and creamy, and the saffron enhances the warmth. Lasts for hours on skin
