EN Sequence is all about sensations. It opens in a fruity, radiant way, but never in a careless or superficial one. Beneath that brightness, you immediately feel a darker, warmer, more sensual tension. It is as if the initial sweetness were only the introduction to something far deeper. Its olfactory pyramid is already beautiful in itself. What I love most is that Sequence feels luxurious without ever becoming heavy. It has colour, energy, sensuality, and all of it is composed with real elegance. It never smells chaotic or rough. It is expansive, striking, dramatic — and at the same time incredibly polished. That is exactly why I find it magnificent. Sequence lives on beautiful contrasts: fruit and suede, colour and shadow, sweetness and a spicy peppery edge. It is seductive almost in an overt way, yet it still remains stylish. And that is a combination that is impossible not to love. _______ IT Sequence è tutto una questione di sensazioni. I picked this up in October when it first launched as a Dubai Duty Free exclusive, and it is easily the best of the three. Line 618 comes next, but this one clearly stands above the rest. From the opening, you immediately get a beautiful blend of lychee and berries. As it develops, osmanthus becomes very prominent, adding a smooth fruity leathery nuance that gives the scent real depth. The fruity character stays present all the way through the dry down, rich, polished, and very well blended. Longevity is excellent, easily passing 11 hours, with strong sillage that projects well without becoming overpowering. Overall, a gorgeous release and a clear favourite. Edit : Apparently people perceive scents differently, and I am honestly trying to be polite here. I own several Julien Rasquinet creations, including The Moon, Enclave, Lustre, Oud in White, and Sequence. This is absolutely nothing like The Moon, unless someone genuinely does not understand perfumes. It is not a fruity rose oud profile at all. Anyway, people really love being dramatic here.

Been looking out for The Moon by the same perfumer without success. I have never smelled The Moon though, but the notes look like right up my alley: fruity woody. Now my favourite house, Amouage, has released a similar Essence perfume by the same perfumer so today I have ordered Sequence from the Amouage website purely based on the notes and 2 reviews I watched online. This will be my 2nd blind-buy Amouage, after Jubilation 40 Man back in 2024 which I love to this day. So, fingers crossed.... Edit: January 13, 2026. I received my Sequence today via DHL. It opens with red berries, lychee fruit, mild oud and smoky leather. Then the mid tonka comes with the rose. Then mild amber and wood arrive with a touch of saffron into the dry down. I agree with a reviewer on YouTube, from the smell you won't know it's an Amouage. It has no Omani incense or Assam oud. But it is strong and the quality and blend is top notch.

This has overtaken PDM Haltane as my favorite fragrance. Expertly crafted and extremely wearable. The saffron is so beautifully blended with the fruit, and the leather/Oud is very light. Very slight rose/florals that add more depth to the fruitiness without making it too feminine. Very sweet, unisex with a slight masculine edge. It is understandable that many diehard Amouage fans are disappointed with some of these newer releases. They are moving in a direction of more mass-appeal and less risk. Removing that lense, sequence is an objectively high quality scent. Some fragrances instantly strike a chord with you, and it feels like magic. This one does that for me. It has given me a sense of ease, because I feel as though I’ve finally found what I want to smell like.

Amouage Sequence has an aromatic palette that Perfumer Julien Rasquinet knows best. Deep, dark and rich. This is a wonderful fruity leather and oud fragrance that is done to perfection. Highly wearable and pleasing to lovers of this scent family. The red fruits present in Sequence pair seamlessly with the jammy rose and leathery oud base. The top notes seem to be recurrent throughout the entire wear A case of sophisticated beauty. I think it's also worth mentioning that the first time I sprayed this fragrance on skin I found it to be very off putting. It's funny how with some time and growth in your fragrance journey you start to appreciate different things.

Sequence does the impossible and surpasses The Moon, allegorically its what you call a total Lunar eclipse. When a Lunar eclipse occurs, the celestial Moon turns a shade of blood red, and thats exactly what Sequence has done with The Moon. It projects a scattering of fruity red and copper tones over the bombastic dna of its inspiration, making it overall a much more wearable, enjoyable and unisex leaning experience. Sequence is an undeniable success and by far my favourite of the Essence collection.

I don’t agree with the people who are just telling this is Maracuja. Not even close. It has more similarities with The moon rather than maracuja. Leather is not leaning like crivelli and it evolves to something definitely “red and sweet” by far. Awesome work by amouage again. And the best version of the current lineup.

My favorite perfume from the Essences line. It is funny as this is the least Amouage perfume of them all. In a genre that has several leathery raspberry perfume, to me, this is the best one of them all. Perfectly balanced and masterfully done by Rasquinet. To me, this is full bottle worthy.

1 month wearing sequence, I can say that it is not something that I will pick from my small collection often, but once in awhile it scratches the fruity slightly leather scent itch for me. It leans more feminine to me but a guy can definitely wear this scent.

I don't like gourmet and fruity smells, but I love this scent, those delicious red fruits in the opening are of an irresistible kind, a complete unisex perfume, ideal for men under 30, I want to smell it all the time and I'm still not sure to buy full size

This one is a love or hate fragrance. Luckily, I'm on a love side. The scent is new to me. I don't see many perfume in Asia with the same profile. However, it's a bit hard to use in Asean summer. But I'm still love how it attracts me.

People compare it to oud majakuja, they don't smell the same at all. Such an underated frag.

Look, if you’re tired of smelling like every other guy in the lounge wearing those overplayed "blue" scents, this is entirely new, and never smelled before (2026 release) Honestly? It doesn't just sit on your skin; it makes a statement about your tax bracket without you saying a word. Here is the lowdown on the scent that everyone is calling "Industrial-Fruit Luxury." The Vibe Check Imagine a high-end leather jacket that’s been sitting, you smash raspberries and lychee all over it, then someone adds a drop of high-octane racing fuel (similar to Dior Fahrenheit). It sounds crazy, somehow they made it feel like the most sophisticated thing you’ve ever smelled. It’s dark, it’s juicy, and it’s undeniably "rich." Pros The "Gasoline" Edge: It has this addictive, slightly metallic/industrial undertone that keeps the fruit from being "too sweet." It’s rugged but polished. Insane Complexity: This isn't a linear scent. It starts like a fruit explosion and ends like a smoky, leathery oud. It’s a journey, not a destination. The Bottle: The new flacon with those desert-dune ridges? It’s pure desk candy. Nice in my collection High-End Pedigree: Since it's aged in oak barrels and sandalwood chips, it has a "thickness" to the smell that cheaper clones just can't replicate. Cons The Price Tag: Let’s be real—at roughly $600, it’s a "rent or fragrance" type of decision for most people. Polarizing Opening: That first 15 minutes is loud. If you aren't a fan of saffron or that "fuel" vibe, you might find it aggressive before it settles. Not for Summer: Do NOT wear this in 90°F heat. You will choke out everyone in a 3-block radius. This is strictly for cool nights and air-conditioned flexes. Nice dark suit, on a crisp night will compliment sillage nicely. Performance Stats Sillage: "The Ghost Room" The sillage is Heavy to Enormous. This is one of those scents where you leave the room, but your "ghost" stays behind for another ten minutes. It’s best experienced in the air rather than sniffing your wrist directly. People will smell you before they see you, so go easy on the trigger—two sprays is plenty. Duration: "The 24-Hour Club" Because it’s a 30% Extrait concentration, the longevity is frankly ridiculous. You better like what your wearing or it will annoy you! On Skin: 12–14 hours easily. On Clothes: It’s basically permanent until you wash them (and even then, good luck). You can put this on for a Friday night out, and you’ll still be catching whiffs of that creamy sandalwood and leather during Saturday morning coffee. Final Verdict: If you want to smell like the coolest, most interesting version of yourself—and you’ve got the wallet for it—Sequence is the play. It’s not a "crowd-pleaser" in the boring sense; it’s a "crowd-commanding" scent, have some balls my friend. Just don't blame me when people start following you down the street to ask what you're wearing.

Sequence by Amouage opens with a bold blast of smoky incense before evolving into a rich blend of oud, passion fruit, leather, saffron and amber. It's a beautifully crafted fragrance and the quality is evident throughout, just as you'd expect from Amouage. Longevity is excellent and the sillage is powerful, so performance certainly isn't an issue. My only criticism is that once the incense fades, it smells remarkably similar to Oud Maracuja by Maison Crivelli. At this very expensive price point, I expect something that feels completely original, and for me, Sequence falls a little short in that department. A quality fragrance, but the lack of originality leaves it at a 7/10.

Drydown on blotter: red fruits, leather, and smoke. Sweet but not juvenile. I found it more suitable as an environmental fragrance rather than on a person. The reason is it’s both feminine and masculine at the same time, but not in the middle like a typical unisex. It’s very masculine and very feminine at the same time, almost like two separate fragrances layered and became the perfect combination. Very well blended, great quality, no spiky notes or aroma chemicals hurting your nose, very smooth. I like it a lot but not something I can use personally. Not to deprecate or praise, but the core of it reminds me of the famous/infamous base layers of many Mancera fragrances.

Beautiful perfume; however, this is an EXACT copy of Oud Maracuja. Do not waste your money on this if you already have Oud Maracuja.

Out of the Essences collection I've smelt so far, this may be the one I like most, next to Outlands. They're not similar in the least, though. Here we have Sequence, which I find is what would happen if you mix Infrarouge with Flamenco. It has a bright, fruitiness and then some leather, which ends up in what some will call gasoline vibe which is what you often get from this type of fruity-leather accord. I thankfully don't get it. At first, I was hoping it wouldn't turn out to be Tuscan Leather-esque and it's not. This is much more fruit forward. The lychee actually comes out on my skin and the sillage is wonderful. Those expecting the funky opening and sharpness of The Moon will be disappointed. I don't think that was the goal, here. This is much more wearable to me and less nuclear (thankfully!). So yeah, right from the opening, a blast of fruit (lychee mostly in my case) and then leather. It turns rosy for a while and settles into am amberwoody base but unlike some, doesn't give me a headache, which is good. If you don't like fruity leather (i.e. gasoline accord) or rose then stay away from this one. I think honestly the price is nuts when you can get cuir Infrarouge and possibly even The Moon for the same range and maybe even less in the case of Infrarouge. Longevity and performance are great, however but that is true for the alternative of this as well. Definitely one for cold months, you'll choke everyone out (and yourself) in the heat. As much as I'm a fan of Amouage, this collection has yet to really strike a chord with me and at the price mark, this isn't nearly enough to warrant a FB. This is definitely nice (read: ok) but not 600 clams nice.

The fragrance opens beautifully, with a very strong red-fruit presence. In the drydown, it turns into something like sweet raspberry juice blended with rose and oud. The leather is barely noticeable, and when it does appear, it feels somewhat plasticky and artificial. This scent is completely not for me. I expected something more chaotic, with an animalic oud similar to Silver Oud or King Blue. Yes, those also use synthetics, but they are executed far better. Here, the oud is synthetic and presented in a very "designer-style" way, with no real animalic edge. It feels soft which might be a good thing for some people. The performance is surprisingly underwhelming for this kind of profile. Longevity is high, but projection is only average. Overall, it feels closer to Azzaro Forever Wanted Elixir than to Frederic Malle The Moon. It's clear the brand is now focused only on profit, creating perfumes for a broader audience. Renaud Salmon doesn't seem to be delivering here, and that's not a great look for Amouage, or rather for the brand's fans. Edit: It does not smell similar to Oud Maracuja, its much more soft and less on Oud. Well, I dont like oud maracuja either as It's synthetic mess to me.

It feels like a softer version of Oud Maracuja. For the first time with Amouage, I smelled something that resembles an already existing fragrance. For a brand that’s usually appreciated for its originality, this was a disappointing experience.

I see the similarity to Oud Maracuja, however OM turns "plastic" and sickly sweet within 30 seconds and then evaporates from my skin in 30-45 minutes. I see the similar DNA but it's more refined but not love at first sight.

As an Amouage glazer, this is disappointing. Recycled material. Overused DNA. Boring. However, It does have incredible performance.

I want to rant. I feel a need to rant. But I will spare you. You can read my review of Remain if you wish to know what I would like to say. Sequence is yet another woody amber from Amouage. I had a strong feeling this was a Rasquinet composition nearly as soon as smelled it. Frederic Malle's The Moon, another Rasquinet composition, immediately came to mind when I smelled Sequence - as if the brand went to Rasquinet and said "You know what you did for The Moon? - Can you make that for us, just not nearly as good? Dial back the oud a lot, and dial up the fruit a lot? Be very conservative with the interesting materials; less is more. Here are our vanillic amber materials we need all of our perfumers to use too." It's one big and vague fruity onslaught at the beginning of Sequence, supposedly lychee and raspberry but that might be generous. I am extremely familiar with both fruits, and this does not call either of them to my mind. Again, vague: this should be called a sharp and crystalline aldehydic tropical berry accord. The synthetic saffron helps to keep the fruit bomb cool, dense, and slightly woody. The floral heart follows a similar vein of vague osmanthus notes of gentler fruits than in the opening, broad and nondescript pink florals, and rush of earthy vanilla and woody ambers that seem to be Amouage's signature in recent years. The dry down settles on this vanillic amber that's touched with a bit of castoreum for a leathery and animalic note. There are perhaps some inflections of oud, but they're hard to find save for the gentle animalic leatheriness that is far more its own material than an oud material. I can't say I'm impressed, and where it currently sits at its cost of nearly USD$500 for 100mL I am considerably less than impressed. A vague and nondescript, disjointed, and rather cheap smelling exercise in repetition. The brand says that Sequence is "evoking the endless passage of time, where endings are merely beginnings." No, please let it end.

Wow, what is happening with Amouage.. These latest releases are so overpriced, boring, and even lack longevity. Wore this to bed and did not even feel it. I didn't get any fruit notes, just some familiar Amouage base, like someone just started making a fragrance and didn't add any middle or top notes to it. Yikes.

Phew! I don’t know, y’all. Maybe it’s me sniffing it close up but i am not feeling this at all. It feels like a loud, aromachemical, mess. The fruit and oud with the leather is just not jibing with me. Phew! Perhaps i will revisit it at some point.

After seeing the note breakdown I thought I would love it but no it smells like fruity burnt rubber

This scent is not for me at all. It has a powdery element to it that gives me a headache when paired with the leather and smoke base of this fragrance. Got no lychee on skin, and more of a raspberry leaf than juicy fresh raspberry on the opening. Dries down very sweet and smoky, in a way that kind of hurts my eyes to smell.

Amouage: hey Julien can you make your standard raspberry-leather thing for us for the millionth time again please? JR: sure, is there a particular thing to add to keep the DNA of the line? Amouage: deep fried empanadas. RIP Amouage.

Of all the Amouages I've tried, Sequence is one of the most interesting. On the paper strip it gave me the feel of a darker, more sour Oud Maracuja but on the skin it goes darker still and the oud and leather is more pronounced. I'd shied away from buying this because of its apparent similarity to Oud Maracuja (which I own and love) but having tried it on the skin a couple of times now and really got my head around it, it is a lot more different than I initially thought. If anything, Sequence is much closer to Cuir Infrarouge than it is to Oud Maracuja. The leather in this is magnificent. The way it melds with the oud is really, really appealing as oud and leather are my two favourite notes and their effect on Sequence as it dries down is scintillating indeed. The issue - if there is one - with Sequence is that is a more difficult wear than you think at first. It is strong and persistent so is not really a safe office wearer and is a bit too heavy for casual daytime use I would say, although Oud Maracuja is perhaps a shade easier in that respect as it is a touch brighter. Sequence is darker and feels heavier and would be something I'd only reach for for an evening. It is a formal scent for sure, and a very serious one at that. It doesn't give that impression when you get your nose on it at first and the lack of the incense in it makes it feel lighter in comparison to the Decisions, Reflections, Purposes etc when actually I don't think it is. It is not a simple reach at all and I would also say it is likely to be a bit divisive among those around you as it is strong and complex. It wears like Ombre Nomade if that makes sense. Half those around you hate it, the other half love it - but everyone notices it. Like Ombre Nomade, Cuir Infrarouge and Oud Maracuja you should be careful not to overspray this one. The people buying and loving this one are the kind of folks who buy fragrance because they love it, not because they think others will like it. I am one of those people. Sequence is a gorgeous scent and is absolutely something you should pick up if like me you love oud and leather and have a thing for dark and complex scents. Three Word Summary: Fruity, smoky leather. Layering suggestion: Cherry Oud by Guerlain or Rouge Smoking Extrait by BDK if you are careful. Outfit Suggestion: dark blue fitted jeans, shiny black Louboutin sneakers, fitted white shirt. Scent - 9/10 Drydown - 9/10 Sillage - 10/10 Bottle/packaging - 9/10 Performance - 10/10 47/50

Etc # The second stage: 2010 to 2020 During this stage, oud perfumes began to evolve into more unisex, delicate, romantic, or silky scents. That poor king has been forced to change his gender under the pressure of trends and new moda. I pray this stage ends ASAP, and (The fourth stage) to revive the true spirit of oud,,, the deposed King of oriental perfumes. Regards

To my nose, Sequence is a fruity-gasoline smell. I have a first batch of The Moon (which I am not a huge fan of either, but I find it ok on occasions) and this does remind me of it, but only for the first minute of the opening. After that first minute, these scent become different. As Sequence settles it becomes a little bit less gasoline like, but this nuance still remains. To me, Sequence is not as horrible as Line 618, I need to spend some more time with it, but so far it’s not a love. Update: After wearing Sequence, I believe that it is certainly better in the sillage than at the place of application. What comes off as a “gasoline” nuance to my nose, is a combination of leather and oud. Luckily, it smoothed out after the fragranced “rested” for nearly two weeks, but it is still present throughout the entire ware of the fragrance (much more so in the early stages of ware). I also get something modern-synthetic, I think it is possibly some sort of amber-wood material (I am not sure). Sequence is not a blind buy safe at all, please do not fall for the hype of note description. Thoroughly test on your skin and cloths as it transfers a lot on fabric before making your decision as these releases are not cheap and may not be to everyone’s liking.

The lack of originality makes comping this very easy. Instant open is Oud Maracuja, i.e. fruity-woody/oudy. Followed by fruity-spicy-aromatic, slight resemblance to Nishane's Oudous Cerasus (which is also inspired by Oud Maracuja). In the heart & base, you do smell leather & oud with fruitiness over the top of it, but I wouldn't say it smells as oriental as FM's The Moon. Outside of the listed notes, imo it smells nothing like London/Cuir Infrarouge which are VERY sweet saffron-forward Tuscan Leather style scents. Will not be buying it and I recommend you don't buy this either, genuinely. Esp. given the fact that Amouage's grey market availability has significantly decreased and finding this for more than 35% off will likely not be possible in the next year or so. Relative to any of the Crivellis, the performance is a lot lighter (I'd say the sillage here is below a 5/10) and the valuation is significantly worse (retail €420/100ml vs. Crivelli €200-215 for 50ml).

Upon initial pray I am hit by a sweet biscuit smell that reminds me of freshly basked sponge cake. This is likely from the oud and amberwood. There is a bit of juicy sweetness from the lychee but I mostly smell spice and amber. The saffron, oud and rose are a class elegant combination. When sprayed on the skin, the spicy leathery side seems to emerge more. Oud, leather and saffron notes seemed most obvious on my skin, with the tonka bean as well. There are sharp spicy leather notes , although I’m not sure what notes these are coming from. On the paper I cannot smell the leather as much, the fragrance smells much sweeter with no heavy spice. I can smell the lychee on the blotter, whereas on the skin I cannot. Layering/pairing advice: Personally would not pair this fragrance as it is quite heavy.

my deepest apologies to the boring fragrance snobs in the reviews below, but this is THE BEST Amouage out of their entire lineup. I spent some time in their new SoHo boutique, just to be as transparent as possible, most Amouage fragrances have a fecal/barnyard note hiding underneath that turns my stomach but THIS?! Sequence is a diamond in the barnyard hay stack. It is crisp and smooth, punchy but woody, fruity but amber. It's not too much of one note but beautifully blended. Respectfully disagree with comments saying weak projection or sillage because I could smell the trail it left behind me as well as on my skin, my friend said I smelled like the King of Dubai. Enjoying my sample, this may be FB worthy and this might be my first Amouage!

One try on hand. The usual Rasquinet raspberry "oud" (I wish this had the oud from Silver Oud or King Blue), only this time he added that stupid note of lychee, which always, to my nose, gives a kind of watery feminine edge to every fragrance I find that stupid chemical note in. So, in a nutshell, the usual Rasquinet stuff he recycled multiple times, only made slightly worse. Yaaaay. Tooootally worthy of Amouage name. Also, it's very reminiscent of a couple of Maison Crivelli fragrances, the foremost being Oud Maracuja. Saffron seems to be dealt with as it's dealt with in Crivelli's fragrances. Overall, all three new releases are disappointing.

It's okay, but I don't know why anyone is comparing it to The Mood from Frederic Malle. Right off the bat, you're blasted with a heavy oud that is slightly mellowed by tonka and saffron, the raspberry and lychee are barely even there, they are very distant and so subtle that they are getting lost in the oud. I'd say it's a more expensive oud maracuja from Maison Crivelli (with no maracuja and extremely subtle lychee/raspberry). It's a good fragrance, but not for the asking price. It belongs within the standard Amouage pricing range, rather than "The Essences" collection.

It reminds me alot of Oud maracuja but the raspberry lychee blend definitely more appealing to my sensitive sinus than the sharp maracuja accord in maison crivelli ! Also you can clearly detect saffron that adds a pretty tinge and prevent it from being suffocating which unfortunately how OM ends up on me , the notes overall are better blended and more refined .. If those notes were melody keys , Amouage sequence is the piano sympyhony while Oud maracuja is the deafening techno music version .. Pick your jam !

Really awesome, I love it! I think out of the entire collection atm (I don’t like outlands) personally this is my fav, I do think this is extremely similar to Oud Maracuja, so if u have that don’t get this. I do think Oud Maracuja is more fruity and passionfruit Oud than this, like this is a safer softer and I genuinely think a nicer fruity Oud. I wonder why we don’t get enough Lychee + Raspberry perfumes... I love it.

I'm so shocked there's no Incense in this first off; then I definitely get the Oud Maracuja Nuance from that very spicy Fruity Leather accord. Here though it is blended with the spiciest Rose ever- almost like very dry and aromatic Taif Rose. This is a Very Spicy Fruity Leathery Rose Fragrance that turns very incensy at the drydown (to me), also has a very Bold Sillage and lingers a long while.

Its quite simple- opening is a masculine impadia/delina with a magical raspberry and lychee. The mid is cuir infrarouge with the leather toned way down and raspberry comes to the forefront with Middle Eastern leather. The dry down is similar to ombre nomads dry down. It's a great scent and if you can get it at a discount it's full bottle worthy. Longevity and sillage are very good.

This one has individually a nice collection of notes, and the opening has a wonderful blast of fruit. But it quickly dries down to a leathery scent, combined with everything else the whole picture is just a no from me. As always with amouage though, despite me not personally liking it the quality is still very clearly there.

i'm torn on the essentials collection and whether to blind-buy any of them after blind-buying lustre and not liking the scent profile at all. i feel like many people are forcing themselves to like this collection bc they're an amouage and have a lot of value in the fragrance community, not bc they actually smell good.

To wear this is a chore. And honestly, I’ve smelled cheap ME oud forward fragrances which smell too similar to Sequence. I would much rather wear Jubilation 40, similar scent profile. Even Montblanc Star Oud is a more pleasant wear, and a fraction of the price.

Hmm. from my first impression its reminded me of Lattafa ajwad P2P and somewhere mix between Black Guava from BORNTOSTANDOUT , well i was expecting some creativity here but this is probably lack of creativity in my opinion :) 7/10
