Sunshine Woman

Wow! I just tested this in the shop and it’s not the scent I’d expect based on the notes, and since I didn’t look at the notes until I got home, I’ll describe my first hand blind test: It opens with a sweet candylike lemon note and something creamy. Absolutely savory and I could not stop smelling it. On my skin it’s fresh and citrusy, a little floral and I do get something slightly powdery. Most of all it smells clean and fresh, a summervibe that would suit any age. And my first thought was “I don’t like citrus fragrances as they all smell like dish soap but this one I need! It smells like lemon sorbet!” But as I got home and checked the notes here om fragrantica I realised that Sunshine Woman isn’t a citrus fragrance at all, and it even contains a lot of notes that I’m usually not too fond of: tobacco flower, osmanthus, magnolia, juniper, papyrus, patchouli. I’m so confused as to why I smell lemon sorbet in the opening. The midlle is beautiful, I can sense some type of green almond mixed with powdery tobacco flower. It smells clean but not soapy. Most of all the drydown is powdery, dusty florals on a well blended green base that is in no way annoying or masculine. In the late drydown it falls apart. The artemisia is strong and spicy, the tobacco flower begins to smell a bit like a newly opened pack of cigarettes, and the black currant smells like fruity apricot. The notes don’t go well together and it kinda smells like you’ve layered a dusty vintage fragrance with a modern fruity fragrances that just doesn’t match at all. After 6-8 hours I only smell the artemisia, it almost smells like herbal licorice. The artemisia lasts 24h as a skinscent. On my skin I don’t get much of the fruity notes in the late drydown (it actually smells pretty good, dusty and mature on me), but I’m hesitant about buying a FB as the fragrance falls apart on the paper strip and I’m quite repulsed by how it developed on paper.

If you were to take Turkish dried apricots, place them on waxed parchment paper, drizzle them with honey, and leave them on a stone windowsill on a scorching summer day, letting the sun slowly warm those golden discs, the resulting delicacy would smell exactly like Amouage Sunshine. Yes, it's the scent of sun-drenched apricots mingling with the refined tobacco haze drifting from a nearby hookah lounge. This is the aroma of a languid Istanbul summer: a fountain murmuring nearby, a minaret rising above the rooftops, and a drowsy ginger cat stretching lazily in the heat. It evokes a sleepy midday nap, a string of carefree days where there is no room for anxiety or the pressure of hustle culture. This sense of happiness feels so multifaceted and all-encompassing that it transcends age and gender. Sunshine is equally beautiful on a young girl, a woman seeking a luminous mood, a spirited young man in a flirtatious state of mind, or anyone else. In fact, on my husband's skin the tobacco note takes center stage, making the fragrance lean surprisingly masculine. Like all Amouage creations, the longevity is incredible, with an expansive, breathtaking sillage. On my skin, it truly shines in early spring. When worn outdoors, the apricot sweetness and warmness is beautifully tempered by the cool, crisp air and the scent of awakening earth and early blossoms. While it is undoubtedly expensive, the juice is highly concentrated, and a little goes a long way. After three years of steady use, the level in my bottle has barely dropped by a centimeter. One final note: the scent can vary slightly depending on the batch and place of production. In my experience, the Oman-made version tends to be a bit sweeter than the one produced in the UK.

Sunshine must be the fruitiest scent from the entire Amouage collection. I have a couple of full bottles and tested an entire Sampler set and from all I know at least, this is the fruitiest. I find it super easy and delightful to wear. Judging by the name I was thinking about something with white flowers, ylang ylang and solar notes. More ethereal and tropical leaning, Sunshine in a bottle - bright and positive. But Sunshine smells like the juiciest, overripe apricots with some sweet, tangy blackcurrants, creamy almonds and thick vanilla. Tobacco flower, juniper berries, artemisia and papyrus gives Sunshine complexity and a cool edge, I have never seen this notes combination in any fragrance, adding to the fruits and flowers a more aromatic, herbal, woody, intense base. I would call Sunshine an elevated fruity floral. The more it dries down, the powderier it gets and becomes warmer and cozy. I would consider this a fairly versatile fragrance. I think it’s a perfect scent to be worn for the final summer days and beginning of fall. Like majority of Amouage fragrances, it is long lasting and protects well. It’s not obnoxiously loud but it’s strong and gets you noticed. Sunshine it’s an exotic, unique smelling scent and easy to like if you’re looking for an intense, sweet, fruity scent with a twist. The kind of scent that makes you close your eyes and smile.

I actually got my sample of Sunshine two years ago in a discovery set. At the time it was just "ok". I didn't like it that much. I decided to pull it out for another try and it's really starting to grow on me. Sunshine is a bit of a weird scent honestly. It doesn't read to me as very "fruity" like the main accords say. I can see why people say it smells like apricot, but if I smelled it without knowing the notes I wouldn't know what it smelled like. It's not super floral like how you think about floral fragrances. It's not sweet play-doh like a lot of vanilla and almond scents. This is really hard to describe. In the opening it has a bit of a sharper note. I think it may be the black currant, which I usually hate. That does settle down after a while though and Sunshine gets very rich and warm, and quite smooth. I don't know what osmanthus or white tobacco are supposed to smell like in real life, which makes it even more confusing. It doesn't smell like pipe tobacco or an ashtray. It's more of a floral tobacco. But again, these are rich, warm florals. There's nothing green about it to me. I don't really get patchouli. It's quite sweet, almost in a honey like kind of way. A very unique and thought provoking scent that I am growing to love. If it weren't so expensive I would absolutely buy a bottle. Edit: Bought a bottle!

A boho-chic masterpiece wrapped in marzipan. I believe I bought a sample in the summer of 2022. At the time, it felt far too gourmand for the heat, so I tucked it away for winter. When the cold came, it moved from the shelf to my nightstand with full bottle. I wore it all winter long, receiving endless compliments. People described it as the scent of a powerful woman. To me, though, it smelled more like orange color; vibrant, creative, and utterly delicious. As winter ended, I thought it was time to bid farewell to Sunshine. But then a YouTuber mentioned, "Wear this in summer—you’ll feel the tobacco note better." Than the game changed. What smelled like marzipan on my skin in winter turned into the scent of an afternoon cigarette in a sun-drenched garden come summer—thanks to the white tobacco note. When I wear it in the heat, I feel like I’ve stepped onto the set of Breaking Bad - desert heat, a hint of danger, and completely addictive. This fragrance has shown me lots of characters of itself, taken me from vibe to vibe, from season to season. It became my signature scent <3

This is absolute perfection. For me this scent doesn’t really match the notes that well but yet I know if it was truly as simple as the parts I pick up it would smell completely different probably. To me it’s very warm & rich, sweet but not juvenile. I think of it like a winter scent that can be worn in summer. I get mostly vanilla but creamy, fuzzy vanilla not sugary thick vanilla (maybe that’s the almond playing in); tobacco but sweet tobacco like a black & mild not tobacco flower or grandpa’s tobacco; and the nectarine-like quality of osmanthus. The whole thing comes off like the most decadent flavored cigarette, then toned down I guess by all the other notes that I don’t consciously pick up. I use the DUA brand Mrs. Sunshine and it’s potent and accurate. Sometimes these higher quality scents don’t translate accurately in dupe versions - especially when there’s vanilla - but I’m very happy with this one. I love it by itself but more often, I layer it with Bottega Venetta Illusione.

Osmanthus leaning slightly to the apricot side of things. White tobacco, blackcurrant, almond, vanilla, jasmine, artemisia, and papyrus you can also pick out individually, however the total blend is so smooth and seamless it’s best experienced together. It begins with sweetness balanced by a tart sourness and develops into a soft creaminess. Recommended quite a bit online, but not a safe blind buy in my opinion. I know many people tend to describe this as more of a summer scent, but I can find it slightly overwhelming in high heat as it turns into very sweet spiced apricot preserve. I tend to prefer it any other time of the year. That being said, it absolutely does smell like sunshine. Sunshine glinting off the snow on a crisp, cold day. Sunshine beaming down on colourful fall leaves, as the beginning of autumn hits the air. A dopamine hit for the darkness of winter. Simultaneously cheerful, invigorating, and comforting. Just gorgeous. The one that started my Amouage obsession.

I absolutely adore this scent! 😍 I’m so happy I managed to buy a bottle after it was discontinued. Of course, it’s really disappointing and surprising at the same time, I thought this was one of the brand’s bestsellers. I’m really hoping they re-release it 🤞🏻 As for the fragrance itself, it’s simply magnificent! I got a bottle where the apricot osmanthus note stands out the most. It’s very ripe and truly sunny! There’s also a pleasant tartness with a slight bitterness, which I think comes from the almond and white tobacco. At the same time, the scent remains very airy and joyful ☀️ There’s a lovely sweetness in the fragrance that sounds incredibly delicate. It beautifully highlights the apricot nuance, rounds out the composition, and makes it unbelievably soft and cozy. For me, this is an absolutely all-season fragrance. The only thing I’ve noticed is that in warmer weather it becomes a bit sweeter. The longevity is phenomenal, one spray on my wrist lasts the whole day.

This perfume is quite beautiful. I get osmanthus and sweet warmth, softly woody (like a sauna), hazy with no sharp edges yet softly spicy. A somewhat fuzzy vibe. Like dandelion flower puffs drifting in the sunshine on a humid summer day. Every note blends together so smoothly and no particular notes stand out more than others to me. The papyrus and cade makes this unique and special, giving it a velvety depth, somewhat hay like scent and just ever so slightly smoky. Hard for me to describe, I get like a powdery labdanum scent in here. Sunshine Woman is feminine, special, beautiful. Nice performance as well, medium sillage and lasting power. Smooth, quality fragrance. Please note this is not a mainstream designer perfume with predictable notes, meaning some will have a hard time with the davana, cade, or papyrus. But these are what makes this perfume unique ❤️.

This scent evokes a very specific memory for me and brings happy tears to my eyes. I expected something completely different looking at the notes. The fruity almond and davana top smells reminiscent of lightly spiced cooked apples or peaches to me. I pick up the osmanthus and tobacco; the leathery texture of the osmanthus makes it feel like fresh tobacco that isn’t fully dry yet. The patchouli, papyrus and cade oil are the gentle, fresh, earthy scent of country mountain air. This smells like playing in my great grandmother’s barn in Kentucky with recently picked tobacco hanging to dry on the rafters while she’s stewing dried apples for hand pies. I don’t really notice any white florals, and patchouli is usually a big no for me but it’s soft and sweet here. Projection and Longevity are on the lower end for Amouage.

There’s a lot of bad reviews of this so I felt the need to say, this is an amazing fragrance and one I’m hoping to have a full bottle of soon—it’s at the very top of my list. Warm, overripe apricots in a shortbread crumble with a slightly masculine, smooth tobacco, and something floral added in to really feminize it. I don’t know if it’s particularly sexy, just GOOD and classy... but I had a man sniff this amongst other perfumes and he said “YES, I would love smelling this on a woman” and he’s not the type that’s into perfumes. This scent just makes me feel good and smells expensive for sure, unlike anything I’ve smelled. I’m glad I don’t necessarily blind buy based on reviews anymore because opinions can be so varied that I might pass up a fragrance that is perfectly suited for me.

An incredibly unique scent, I found that my scent bubble and my skin weren't quite the same, so I ended up spraying a bit on a sweatshirt to get a better feel for this one. It's sweet vanilla-tinged almonds, a bit powdery and papery, but with singing, complex florals. The variety of florals gives this one a lot of nuance, and I have the sneaking suspicion I'd need to wear this often to really get to know her. In general, my primary experience is one of vanilla, then almond and floral sweetness. Everything else is just a bonus, influenced by skin chemistry--a bit of fruit, some herbal and aromatic greenness, some creamy florals. The overall effect is elegant and femme. It's not as crowd pleasing as Guidance, but I think a lot of wearers will like the complexity and overall effect.

I am late to Amouage Sunshine Woman but something kept nagging at me since I knew it was being discontinued so I ordered a sample and when I got it I just fell in love with it. I don’t like gourmands and vanillas or almond notes, but i love a sweet warm fragrance. This is so beautiful and so well blended on my skin and I’m wearing it on a 90 degree day today and it makes me happy! Not too much or cloying. I get wafts of sweetness mixed with a subtle subtle papery smokiness after a few hours, in the base. Perhaps the tobacco? It’s barely detectable but enough to anchor the fragrance and give it some depth. I ordered a full bottle and can’t wait to spray it liberally from a nice atomizer. I’m a fan of Imitation Woman, figment woman and Epic Woman but this is an easy reach. Love it!

I’ve already reviewed this from a sample, but I ended up buying a fb. I was a smoker all throughout my 20s and I rolled my own cigarettes, so I had a little pouch of dried tobacco on me for a decade. Since I quit, that smell is something I’ve really missed - not even because it’s a particularly nice smell, but just because it was such a part of my personal scent world. The tobacco in Sunshine Woman ended up growing on me! I kept reaching for my sample in the fall and winter, and finally caved and got a fb. If you have a sample and don’t like it in the current season, pull it out and try it a few months later. I’ve switched to other scents for the summer as I find this a little strong and sweet in the heat, but all fall, winter, and spring, I couldn’t get enough.

Whyyyyyyyy!? They discontinued my signature! Nothing compares to this little beautiful gem. I will never love another fragrance as much as I love Sunshine! I wrote Amouage in a panic and they said it is indeed out of production and to look out for "re-releases". I'm not sure what that means? I spent the last few weeks searching every fragrance website and calling perfume discounters across the country trying to nab a few more bottles. just panic bought back-ups and they were hard to find! It's now sold out on the Amouage website. This really ticks me off! If it comes back in a new bottle, I will be pissed at myself for hording. If it doesn't come back, at least I'm prepared. WTF!? I guess this isn't a real review..more of a primal scream.

Last summer my family visited a beautiful winery in Sicily, Donnafugata. The most memorable of the wines for us was a stunning dessert wine called Ben Ryé, which had really rich apricot notes from the process of semi drying the grapes in the sun. For me, Sunshine was this wine as a perfume. Sweet but in a way that is rich and mature. The opening was pretty intense, and I wasn't a massive fan of the tobacco, but the scent grew on me as it dried down to a warm and spicy vanilla. Not sure yet if I would buy the full bottle as I have just binged on discovery sets in search of a new perfect fragrance, but it's a definite maybe, not least because of the happy memories it invoked

Just tried a sample today. The top notes are pretty basic on me - like any other sweet fruity fragrance - and there’s something that comes out right as the top notes fade that I don’t love. But once the tobacco kicks in, I really loved this. It might be suggestion from the name and bottle look, but it reminds me of a sunny afternoon August meadow. Hints of flowers, hints of hay, dry sunny leaves. Cicadas buzzing. That little burst of fruit is like tasting a blackberry from the side of the road that is honestly not ripe yet, so it’s a little too tart. You look down and there’s a spider on your sneaker. I really love it which is a shame because it’s so expensive 😭

I am sooo angry! All these bad reviews here, and you basically never see any sunshines on fb groups for sell, this perfume is a gem and a masterpiece yet NO ONE was talking about it, no hype around it AT ALL! If I wouldn't use it myself I would think is just another irrelevant frag on the market. And now, when it is discontinued I can't find a bottle anywhere on the internet... for some of us this is the most beautiful perfume in the world and I do have a backup bottle but still... I hope Amouage will continue to produce this beauty without a reformulation :( Its a cruel way to find out that actually everyone loved it and stocked up secretly

Without looking at the notes , smells like a fresh ripe apricot that been cut open with light creamy florals . There’s a very subtly light clean tobacco leaf in the back, I don’t get actual smokiness . Overall it’s very pretty, light and creamy but not heavy and perfect for summer and spring Edit : looking at notes I notice there is no orange . I finally got a fb and the opening reminds me of a glass of natural squeezed orange juice blended with apricot. It’s so delicious! The white tobacco I think is what gives this creaminess . I don’t get anything ashy at all. I fall more and more in love w this - it’s a happy scent for sure

This one smells so cozy to me! A truly comforting scent that brings a smile to my face. I get a lot of apricots and vanilla with osmanthus, while almonds and white tobacco give it a nice edge. It's literally sunshine in a bottle. Normally I don't like overly sweet scents but Sunshine is perfect, I could literally butter myself with it like a toast and feel like the hottest toast ever. No drama here, only pure joy. Sweet fruity apricot joy. Longevity is extraordinary in winter, average in summer. Stays on clothes until I wash them. Projection is average, I'd say.

So I have now been testing this one for approximately 1 month off and on from a 10 ml decant spray.Initially I did not like it. I felt like all I smelled was Cinnamon. I am assuming this was the Osmanthus mixed with Davana & patchouli. Now fast forward to today. After allowing this to macerate for some time, I am noticing the beauty of this. I am able to smell the almond, along with the osmanthus. All on a cloud of Vanilla with a wafting of White tobacco. I am shocked. Today I felt the story that it told and now I think i want a full bottle.

WOW! This, to me is signature scent material. From the first spray I was taken back to my grandmothers house eating ice cream and jelly. I will tell you now I love sweet foodie smells - anything that smells like lollies or musk sticks (in a slightly more sophisticated way) is right up my alley. Sunshine gets more complex and mature as it settles but it never quite loses that jelly smell - and I love it! That said, it's like I've met the man of my dreams then found out he's gay - $499 a bottle! I just can't quite do it...

Since there's many reviews on this already, I will just add my experience with a sample I got that is of the newer formula and my actual bottle from the older packaging. The newer formula has that strong cigarette smoke in the mid on my skin. The older formula has more of that floral tobacco scent which I prefer. I wished that the formula wouldn't have changed with the newer box designs, but I think it has. That's a shame. Looks like I'm going to have to look for another back up bottle of the old bottle.

@Wekabeka artificial? Amouage..? come on now. They use only the best ingredient’s, and nothing in their perfumes is artificial or synthetic. All their fragrances are strong and the house has its signature dna for sure, but let’s not accuse them like this just because it’s not something you love. The majority of niche lovers will have at least one amouage perfume among their top 5, or people who's all time fav perfume house is immediately Amouage, including me.

It’s a love. Perfect for a summer evening out. The quality of the ingredients is apparent and they are so beautifully blended. Totally addictive dry down. It sings ‘summer’ without giving tanning oil and is just slightly sweet. Extremely alluring and gorgeous scent bubble.its quite thick and bombastic so go easy, but if you miss your luscious amber dry downs in the warm weather, this might be your solution. Amouage does it again.

The name of the fragrance describes perfectly what it smells like, sunshine. For me, this is my all time favourite perfume. If I want to describe it shortly, this fantastic fragrance smells like pure happiness in a sunny day, when you know you’re going to have a wonderful day! Its cozy, warm but not in the sense like angels share, rather like the warmth of the sun while laying under a peach tree in a sunny day. Magic in a bottle.

I am so upset I did my bought this when it was available at fragrancenet and Jomashop. I kept buying different perfumes and waiting for this and now is not available anymore and some other places has ridiculous price that I Dot’n want to pay. I have to keep a look everywhere and see when is available to get it. I was able to get love mimosa and figment which were both not available for a long time l.

I don’t pick up on the specific note breakdown very well but I like that! This is at least in my top 5 for its floral dominance but again not obviously specific flowers, boosted with creamy almond. I would call the black currant just a very subtle touch, which is perfect. It’s hard to describe this scent but if you’re considering sampling it, do it! This is just perfect.

This smell like my 1998 Toyota Camry on a hot summer day in Texas. the cigarette smoke wafting from the cloth interior. The mixture of every perfume I wore in my 20s, most of them living full time in my glove box. It smells like my older sister spraying herself down with body mist after smoking a cigarette out her bedroom window. It's extremely nostalgic and I love it.

Delightful composition that evokes images of apricots in almond milk - sort of creamy almonds, and a light, sweet hay drydown. The tobacco note in Sunshine is far from overpowering. Well-suited for the summer season - 2 sprays are maximum for this fragrance. Do not overspray - otherwise you will regret in hot summer. The packaging is a true reflection of its name.

This is my all time favourite niche fragrance. It is juicy, non offensive, you can smell the quality of the ingredients upon first spray. Unfortunately Amouage have confirmed they are discontinued the fragrance. You can still get this at the moment from fragrance retailers, but no longer on Amouage’s website. So sad 😢

I'm very sad and surprised by some of the reviews.It works very well on me. Sweet, but not sickly, a bit jammy peach with almond, vanille and interesting ingredient (I don't know if it's the tobacco or the papyrus, but I don't find it smelly or bad.) One of my favorite spring and summer perfumes, it's my happy scent.

I have absolutely no idea how to describe this scent, other than I LOVE IT ❤️ It's a little floral, a little sweet, and the white tobacco gives it a really nice touch. Despite the name I think that this will work all year around, especially during Spring and Fall but I'll give it a go in Winter, too.

Similar nausea-inducing clash of notes to Ani, which makes me feel sick. There's also something which catches in my lungs, plus something else which makes me feel like I'm going to get a headache. After a few hours it smells similar to Angélique Noir and doesn't make me feel sick any more.

Feels like fireworks on a skin. Imagine a woman in a summer dress whose strap has fallen to reveal her bare shoulder. Desire is in her eyes, and her smooth skin smells of this perfume exactly. It smells like the intoxicating feeling you get when you really want someone. Explosively sexy.

A warm, woody/nutty, slightly gourmand unisex vanilla scent. Personally I find enough overlap with the woody/gourmand side of Zoologist that I wouldn’t need a bottle. In particular I find this close to Harvest Mouse with a touch of Chipmunk, with any use case well-covered by those.

Fruity, warm, super creamy and it has a sweetness that’s beautiful in the summer. Just amazing and the name says it all, like a warm ray of sunshine. The tobacco brings a little bit of a nice twist to it but doesn’t scream at you when wearing. Will buy fb when I get rich haha.

This is a masterpiece and my all time favorite. All the notes are present, the floral and fruity notes are dominant though. For the people who say this smells like cat p or sour tabac, its just your pH, Im sorry if this beauty doesn't smells on you like it should.

Absolutely agree with what the comment under me said. Warm peach juice, warm apricots. Apricot jam. I really expected the tobacco to possibly make me not like this. Unfortunately for my wallet I am in love.

I’m rating this as “love,” not because it’s exceptionally pleasing to me, but because it’s so complex I can’t figure it out, and I keep returning to my wrists to analyze. What a stunningly unique scent.

Beautifull perfume.. i love the fruitness and i think it’s powdery also .. it has moderate projection and last for 8 hours on my cloth..it’s nice but not wow me for the price !

On my skin I find this a very unique tobacco, osmanthus forward scent...on the dry down- creamy, warm, smooth and comfy... think sunset calm after a long day in the summer sun

It is a lovely summer in the bottle scent to me, it's candied almonds with vanilla and sweet yellow flowers. Beautiful. Reminds me of Xerjoff Casamorati Dolce Amalfi.

Beautiful fragrance! Warm and fruit at same time butttt on my skin white tabaco is so strong which ends up not being an option for the summer. Perfect for spring

To me this brings me thoughts of warm apple cider with spices, to my husby - tobacco and rum. Lovely and cheerful scent! White tobacco is very pretty here.

Well done Amouage for bringing it back. I hope you consider your clients' loyalty and preference for Sunshine Woman and never discontinue it ever again

@laurenruth I think they're confusing it with the men's version. If I'm not mistaken, Sunshine Man is being discontinued, but not this one.

If you're missing Amouage Sunshine, try Borntostandout Sugar Addict. On paper they shouldn't be similar, but to me, they absolutely vibe 🙌🏼

My all time fav. Amouage!!! Please bring it back and make an extrait version, it would be a very big financial success for Amouage!
