The Library Collection Opus VIII

Managed to get a sniff, skin sample and a 'dunked & doused' green ribbon from the exclusive launch in a famous London department store that just launched this 8th addition to the Library range. My first reaction was: WOW! What a milky floral monster! Absolutely magnificent! The bottle is opaque, pearlesque and "milky" with some golden glitter particles; so the exterior is already giving away some clues to the interior juice. And WHAT A JUICE IT IS! AN OPPULENT EXPLOSION! Those of you who love jasmine and neroli will love this fragrance for this is one heck of a floral potent blast. The obvious first impression from the opening is the "Sambac" jasmine of extremely dense and milky quality, together with he heaviest and richest neroli possible and I believe it is the oilbanum that gives it such a milky, ambery, vanillic quality. As an analogy, I would call it the "Milky Cousin" of REFLECTION (Reflection is a very wet, spicy and waxy composition of the same house). Saffron and Ylan-Ylang support the already strong and 'floral-peppery' nature of the potent neroli (orange blossom) and the ginger, gaiac wood, vetiver amplify this spiciness even further. The final dry-down is a close milky skin scent of benzoin and those recent memories of those floral explosions now slowly fading (very slowly and linear that is!). If there was anything negative to mention: the base notes only comprises of 2 notes (the lowest level of any Library range for they all have at least 3) and the West Indian Bay is hardly there. Having said that, the first two stages are so incredibly intense that they continue to linger on and on. It feels like you were cooking all ingredients in a big pot of fatty milk that starts to turn into a thick condensed milk, completely consuming all the ingredients and turning it into a beautiful tamer skin scent that almost feels like a body butter (in fact they should do one as well with this scent!) Final Verdict: 9.5 out of 10 only because there is not more base note development. A TRUE FLORAL MONSTER FOR A TRUE NEROLI/ JASMINE LOVER. THICK MILKY PEPPERY VIBRANCY. NOTHING SHORT OF SENSATIONAL.

Opus VIII is a beautifully balanced floriental made with high-quality ingredients as befits Amouage. Surprisingly more yellow floral than white, this is lush and heady, quite sweet up top and slightly indolic. Some soft spice and a prominent incense note add depth, and it is grounded by a woody-amber base. It is one of the more wearable Library scents, and feels like an elevated Alien flanker (while I dislike Alien, it shares a main woody-jasmine accord with OVIII). OVIII opens with slightly indolic jasmine, rounded out by sweet orange blossom. Ylang ylang follows, adding tropical creamy sweetness. A hint of spice adds a nice edge. It is deeply pleasant - sophisticated yet unchallenging. As it develops, churchy incense adds a lovely balsamic, smoky undertone, enhancing the florals beautifully and paving the way to the amber drydown. A rich, balsamic amber accord develops as it dries down, with soft woody notes emerging, complementing the aromatic spices that remain to perfection. It becomes slightly musky as it fades, with spices and incense remaining until it disappears. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. A simple composition by Amouage standards, OVIII is a beautiful amber-floral scent, classic yet modern in equal measure. Feminine-leaning in my opinion, it is boldly elegant, and is a rare year-round scent. One of my favourites from The Library Collection. 4.5/5.

I can smell here _maybe_ orange blossom and ylang-ylang but no other of those mentioned notes. If only there was jasmine! Or saffron, ginger, vetiver, benzoin! Well, maybe they all constitute to the outcome but are not distinguishable anymore. Benzoin possibly saves the whole thing for me for it not being too much floral-only (and giving it the Amouage signature), I really like this component everywhere, it can turn every scent perfect for me, similar with oud. Maybe olibanum also served the same purpose but I don't really know how that thing smells specifically. Still, I can smell orchid here, similar to one in Black and Velvet Orchid by TF, unless I mix this up with ylang-ylang, I'm not sure. Anyway, this is a nice and enjoyable slightly bitterish floral bouquet by Amouage and it is good! Better and more smell on hand than on shirt but it's good on both places. I have smelt ylang-ylang on some other perfumes and if it is too strong, I can't stand it but here it is in the background rather, nicely done.

Wow, I like this!! I bought myself a few niche samples, and this is probably the most expensive perfume I will ever wear! ;) I dabbed this on today (literally blind--it was dark so I didn't know what I grabbed) from a sample. My first thought was "oooooooh, it's like a lux version of" Whispers in the Library " [the only fragrance in the "reminds me of" that I have smelled]! I definitely had spice and benzoin coming up, right from the start. Fascinatingly, by the time I reached work, jasmine and orange blossom had come to say hello. Then the frankincense, guiac wood and ginger came for a visit. I have genuinely never experienced a perfume that took on so many different expressions throughout its life. IMHO, this is definitely worthy of the title "niche", and (unfortunately?!) is now something I will have to start saving for! I adore it! If you enjoy benzoin (because it's there throughout the life of the fragrance), I definitely recommend you purchase a sample of this, and try it for yourself! :)

Holy mother of all florals...THIS is a heavy duty floral fragrance. It's strong on the ylang ylang most on my skin. The initial spray isn't my favorite. But after about 15 minutes this fragrance blooms into the most gorgeous mix of heady slightly indolic spicy white and yellow florals. 2 sprays on the arm and it was still radiating after an hour. This shit is STRONG. Definitely don't overspray this one. If you're a fan of florals and want BOLD, this is worth a try! Edit: I just took a shower and sprayed this again on my arm and now I'm getting an aquatic vibe! This fragrance is so transformative and takes you on a journey. Amouage fragrances never cease to amaze me! Edit 2: Woke up and it was still on my skin! Mostly just benzoin, which isn't my favorite on it's own, but still. Great longevity!

Opus VIII has a lovely white floral opening. The top notes lead with jasmine but the ylang ylang is in there. The floral notes do not totally blend together. Instead, they are detectable in a way that has them dancing around playing nicely together versus becoming one. Sometimes this one opens with the woody notes in the opening. No idea why it changes each time I wear it, but that is just fine by me. The middle notes are softer, add vetiver and smell a bit minty in a good way. This is the part of the perfume that I enjoy the most. The sillage is medium to heavy, and the longevity is more than 10 hours. I have worn this four times now. I like it even more each wearing.

This is my ultimate happiness scent. It literally gives me good mood almost instantly. From moment I tried it first time over 2 years ago it evokes image of sunflower field and bright blue sky on sunny early Autumn day. Have no idea why. It is not my favorite Amouage perfume to wear it on myself, although I do like it a lot for this purpose too, but I'm carrying 2 ml decant of it in my bag all the time just to open cup and smell it. I cannot even (nor want!) to analyze it, just enjoying it. I will only say that longevity and projection is above Amouage average, and their average is enormous!

An enchanting Floriental centered around a lovely jasmine note, this is a beautiful tropical offering from Amouage. The perfume opens with the powerful indolic jasmine surrounded by hints of ylang ylang and orange flower. It starts transitioning to an incensy olibanum surrounded by hints of saffron, ginger, guaiac and vetiver. It finally settles into powdery benzoin with a slight bay leaf. The perfume radiates a bright tropical happy radiance. Unisex slight feminine leaning with moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Best suited for warmer sunny weather. Enjoy!

so far with amouage, they never fail on floral notes with a touch of wood...like a flower tree of course with trees that is wood...in all the history be it soap, perfume, incense etc will all has flowers smell in all the ranges of the product, thus it is a good smell, so far i have not come across a soap that smell exactly like amouage perfume( except for amouage soap ), i would love to try it though if there is one. so far amouage has been producing great products, with great products comes great price...

اپس هشت عطر راحت الهضم و بی دردسری هست خط و نشان و شلوغی که در سایر عطرهای صمغی امواج هست اینجا خبری نیست ترکیب گل یاس و سایر گلها با صمغها که خصلت وحشی صمغا را گرفته است و به یه کار ارام و بی دردسر تبدیل کرده که استفاده اش برای تمامی مناسبها و لحظات مناسب است ترکیبات ادویه و گرمی هم وجود دارند که درحد بالانس عطر هستند اپس هشت شاید کمی یاداور عطرای قدیمی باشد ولی با این حال بدیع و بی شباهت هست همیشه فکر میکنید شبیه یه عطری بوده است ولی چیزی به ذهنتان نمی اید نافذ ، اندکی صابونی و خوشبو 5/5

I have 6 x 2ml samples which I've dusted off and started to wear. Firstly, the colour of this juice is insane, like as bad as Des Clous Pour Une Pelure or The Lover's Tale. It stains skin for more than 24h. Secondly, it smells divine. Thirdly, I don't have nuclear performance, but maybe it's the age of the samples I'm using. I'm not complaining though, as it's the perfect strength for out and about, work or play. I wore it around Paris today in 29 degree heat and it was perfect.

It wouldn't be possible to wear this and not feel elegant. It is working great with my jeans but it would be fabulous for a special occasion. Major league gorgeous, compelling - as in I can't stop huffing my wrist, and very unique. The combination of florals with some edible spices - ginger, saffron, orange, has been done but none I've sampled were of this quality and done with such talent. FB on wishlist.

Jasmined floral compostion with splash of Saphron. Strange that the notes have many flowers yet all in all, the composition is not leaning toward masculine. I love this mixed wth other parfumes ..and alone. Can be worn by woman but would seem strongly suited mainly for men. This is a new scent. Composition 9/10

She has arrived. My little bit of luxury. Deep, sensual. Reminds a little bit of Alien. I can't comment on sillage etc as I've only just sprayed. Just I can tell she's going to be long-lasting with good sillage. I love her already. Worth the price as I'm worth it.

White floral and resin. This is some powerful stuff that can fill a room. The floral is very feminine and the spice really makes it unisex. My friends told me I smelled like the middle east. I guess that is the general consensus from other people.

Another analogy: OPUS VII is the dark haunted soul of the moon, whereas OPUS VIII is the dancing, rejoicing, gleaming soul of the sun. These 2 behave like day and night.

This stuff is just gorgeous drop dead gorgeous I’m not even going to elaborate nothing but excellence went into this bottle . Bravo

I'm really on the fence with Opus VIII. It's quite a bit different from what most - not all - of the Library Collection try to do in terms of style and creative direction. This is not a bad thing, and if it's a well-executed concept a change of direction can be a very welcome thing, but it's this last part that I'm not so sure about. For one, it seems a bit disjointed, like it might be a mash-up of separate perfumes or ideas that never really find cohesion. For two, speaking of perfume mash-ups, for quite a bit of my time with Opus VIII I was very much smelling Opus V's rooty iris (orris) and musk combination; I've never been a fan of Opus V, so there's a problem for me, and for an expensive exclusive line like the Library Collection recycling old ideas and/or getting heavy-handed with the same materials more than once feels like I, the wearer and consumer, am being cheated a bit. In more detail, the way the perfume opens is fantastic, what helps me place one foot over the line into 'love' territory. The indolic jasmine and orange blossom top release themselves like a cloud into the air to quickly give way to an incense, saffron, ginger, and woody heart that shape-shifts between a vaguely-oud-type accord and a vaguely-leather-type accord. It's breathtaking and stunning. I was head-over-heels bowled-over in love with what was going on. Then after about an hour, reality and the letdown: the woods string their way down to mingle with a very big benzoin note that comes across rooty/woody iris (orris) and musk that is almost exactly the same as Opus V. But here's the ruse: it's all jasmine. Opus VIII is all jasmine. Every material and note/accord are meant to display some facet of jasmine; it's the theme connecting all parts of this mélange of questionably juxtaposed notes. Jasmine is a shape-shifter, a chameleon full of different colors that can easily trick you into disguising itself as something else and hiding about the foreground or the background. Sometimes it's citrusy and fruity, sometimes dry and bitter, sometimes extraordinarily indolic and musky, sometimes very white floral and pretty, sometimes wet and sweet, sometimes green and sometimes rich and bronzed. This flower is an incredible marvel of nature, and Christopher Chong wanted Pierre Negrin and Richard Herpin to capture it. I think that's the problem: jasmine has too many characteristics to squeeze them all into one perfume in a cohesive and legible manner. Maybe the team at Amouage came to the same conclusion after they felt Opus VIII was done (or as close to it as they could get it), because they made another attempt at exploding jasmine with Opus IX - though the inspiration for IX was the scentless camelia flower - and they succeeded a lot more with IX, in my opinion. Each moment when you think you know what Opus VIII is doing - in one moment floral, in another moment woody, in another moment indolic and musky, in another dry and in another sweet - like a chameleon it changes colors on you so fast your get momentarily confused while your senses and brain recalibrate to the shape and reset the foreground and background contrasts. One note remains throughout most of the life of the perfume though, and that is a very pleasant olibanum. Are we surprised? I'm not. Amouage is a house you study when needing a master class in incense and they have some of the best incense materials in the world, so, of course, they are going to want to use it whenever they can. Once the olibanum finally makes itself known, and keeps its voice sustained through the rest of the perfume's life, does it all seem to come together. Olibanum is the glue, the tether keeping the shapeshifting and color-changing jasmine in check. It's a difficult perfume to read, but one thing that most certainly needs to be said about it is that it is gorgeous. At no point is any note or material less than beautiful and of superb quality. The final skin scent is basically an amber, full of balsams and benzoin, but you occasionally get a whiff of bay leaf to keep things springy, fresh, and to add a touch of green color. It doesn't really keep with the theme, but technically it works well. So, yeah, I'm on the fence with VIII. I do honestly like it, but I have no idea if I want to wear it again, or how and when I would wear it. Its refusal to maintain any semblance of consistent character by constantly changing shape and color makes it feel disjointed, not to mention confusing and challenging. However, I think that is what will, to the last point of consideration, push it from neutral to thumbs-up territory: Opus VIII does what the Library Collection Opuses are supposed to do, which is to give you something of superb quality that is different, makes you think, and keeps you on your toes.

The fragrance is very floral smell yet Extremely soft and tender not special but it is high definition and just suitable for kind women In the end This perfume has a very good distribution of fragrance and longevity Thanks رویال عطر رو در گوگل سرچ کنید شروع کار یه نوع رایحه آروماتیک صابونی مانند به همراه یه شیرینی بسیار ضعیف خواهد بود مطمئنا وقتی عطر رو تست کنید شما رو یاد عطرهای فلورال قدیمی میندازه ولی زمانی نمیگذره که کلی رایحه فلورال به ترتیب با عطر ترکیب میشند و عطر رو کمی گرم و لطیف میکنند یه جور بوی ضعیف که تند و تیز و همچنین یکم نت اسپایسی ضعیف در پشت زمینه عطر قابل حس کردنه ولی خیلی ضعیفه و تغییر آنچنانی در روند لطیف و گلی و زنانه عطر نمیگذاره یه شیرینی مثل پودر وانیل جزو محتویات عطره درسته دزش بسیار پایینه ولی اگر این مقدار کم هم نبود به نظرم واقعا یه شاهکار میشد کار باکیفیتی هست و شخصا برای خانوما خیلی میپسندم این عطرو . چون در ترکیب روایح اصلا زیاده روی نشده و همه چیز به اندازه میکس شده معمولا عطرای فلورال زنانه یا زیادی شیرین هستند یا زیادی گلی و پودری ولی این عطر فوق العاده لطیف و ملایم هست ولی با این حال بسیار مقاوم و پخش بوی بسیار خوبی هم داره و میشه به جز تابستان در باقی فصول ازش استفاده کرد با این که خودم یکی از طرفدارهای عطرهای فلورال هستم ولی در این عطر کفه ترازو کاملا به نفع خانوم ها سنگینی میکنه بازم عرض میکنم که این عطر اصلا به درد آقایون محترم نمیخوره چون هیچ گونه حس مردانه ای در این عطر به نظرم وجود نداره ولی یه عطر بسیار باکیفیت و بی نهایت خوش بو برای خانوم هایی که روح لطیف و مهربانی دارند بسیار برازنده می باشد

This discontinued beauty from the ,,Library Collection" was, like many others from this line, sadly not crowd-pleasing enough. I suppose because it starts with a very strong,nearly overpowering carnal jasmine, which after a short time becomes more ,,settled" and sweet with the added ylang-ylang. The dry-down is mostly sweet too my nose and is also dominated by jasmine. Like so many Amouages, it is not for the faint of heart, has a great longevity and strong sillage, maybe that`s why the ,,wise men" decided for us that our ,,delicate sensibilities" should not be so overwhelmed...

Trying these Library scents after they’ve apparently been discontinued is a little bittersweet. Ah well, while the discounters still have remaining stock... A beautiful, sexy and sweet yellow floral. I wouldn’t have been surprised if told this was one of Mugler’s flankers. It has spicy depths, staying power and sillage for days. Really gorgeous. Is it worth the price? As a guy with this one I’m a bit out of my depths. I’ll pass the rest of this 2ml sprayer to my partner. If she thinks it’s worth picking up, I’ll be wearing it from her bottle 😁.

8.5/10. This reminds me of Honour with that white lily, fresh green aspect. This is a deeper more grounded scent which is rounded by sweet fruity amber. In contrast, Honour has a honey sweetness and is more flowery and girly. Occasionally in Opus VIII, there is a little spice and a faint violet note which appears intermittently. I prefer Honour because it is a lighter floral and has more feminine qualities.

Opus VIII is a hidden gem within the Amouage line-up. From the first moments, it's absolutely stunning. The white floral tones evoke images of the sea—the waves, the breeze—it’s like a fresh, earthy whisper on your skin. My initial reaction was sheer delight, and while I calmed down slightly, I regard it as one of Amouage's best creations.

First Lady of the Tropical. I find this works best in winter as it is LOUD and you can smell the various notes interchanging, versus when it's just a cloud of vague but intense floral and incense. None of the fruitiness of ylang ylang or jasmin come out of hiding in the heat. Songes at a catholic mass.

Beautiful opening, all honey and salt, almost a mirror to Flora Nymphea by Guerlain. It remains sweet, with a strong marshmallow note and marine note emerging in the drydown. The saffron note lingers. Very well blended though, and elegant. Here it reminds me of L'Erbolario's Diode Dell'Onda.

I am not keen on white florals personally, so this alone doesn’t really do it for me but this one is a great when paired with frankincense incense.

Yasemin kokusu aşırı kadınsı bir koku, neroli unisex bir akor. ve ikisi birleştikten sonra kadın vari bir koku ortaya çıkıyor.Bunu biraz daha unisex hale getirelim ve farklı olsun demişler ve batı ipucu körfezi lakaplı bitki var. ilginç bir birleştirme. parfümden öte bir sanat eseri. ama asla kullanacağımı düşünüyorum. Safran burada arka planda duruyor ve kendisini yasemin ile birlikte taşıyor. ve neroli yasemin mide bulandırıcı hale geliyor. bende bu koku, yaşlı kadın borcunu andırıyor. çalışma ve işçilik 10/10 kesinlikle mükemmel. ama bu koku hiç benlik değil. hiç beğenmedim 10/4.1

اپوس 8 ؛ عطری با کیفیتی خارق العاده و بسیار طبیعی عطر اپوس 8 با نتهای گلی کارش رو آغاز میکنه. درست در زمان اسپری عطر؛ بویی که استشمام میشه؛ عطر شکوفه ی پرتقال هست که به نحو شگفت انگیزی طبیعی است. این رایحه تا 5 دقیقه کاملا بصورت تنها وجود داره و بعد از 5 دقیقه گل یاس به این نت افزوده میشه. کیفیت رایحه در این مرحله بصورت اعجاب آوری طبیعیه. اینجانب در دوران بچگی در حیاط منزل گل یاس به مقدار زیادی داشتیم. هر موقع که من از کنار گیاه مربوطه رد میشدم؛ عطر یاس رو تجربه میکردم. حالا هم پس از بوییدن نت ابتدایی عطر دقیقا اون فضا برایم تداعی میشه. رایحه ی یاس اونقدر در این مرحله با کیفیته که کوچکترین تفاوتی با رایحه ی اصلی گل یاس نداره و شما به هیچ عنوان و بدون هیچ شکی؛ یه رایحه ی سنتتیک برایتون تداعی نمیشه اپوس 8 بعد از یک ساعت وارد نت میانی خودش میشه. در اینجا فضایی که بیشتر چوبی است و به مقدار خیلی کمتری دودی است رو تجربه خواهید کرد. رایحه ی دودی مربوطه اصلا سنگین نیست. بلکه به پخته شدن عطر در این مرحله کمک میکنه و باعث میشه که یک بالانس خیلی خوبی بین نتهای گلی و چوبی برقرار کنه. البته در این مرحله؛ روایحی که از نتهای اولیه وجود داشتند؛ کامل از بین نمیره و تعادل خوبی بین رایحه ی گلی و رایحه ی چوبی؛ دودی برقرار میشه شرکت عطر سازی آمواژ در اکثر کارهایش بسیار هوشمندانه عمل کرده. از تولید عطر مهندسی ساخته شده ی اپوس 5 گرفته؛ تا همین اپوس 8 که مورد بررسی است. اپوس 8 عطری یونیسکس در نظر گرفته شده؛ در حالیکه شما در صورت بوییدن نتهای اولیه عطرممکنه بگید که این عطر کاملا زنانه هست. البته تقریبا هم همینطوره. تا یک ساعت اول انگار شما در باغی پر از گلهای یاسمن قرار دارید و حسی که تا یک ساعت اول القا میکنه؛ کاملا حس زنانگی هست. ولی بعد از یک ساعت قضیه کاملا فرق میکنه. اضافه شدن نتهایی که بیشتر در عطرهای مردانه افزوده میشوند (مثل نتهای چوبی و دودی) عطر رو به سمت مردانه شدن حرکت میده و این باعث میشه که تحلیل کننده ی عطر دیگه دهانش برای اعتراض که این عطر یونیسکس در نظر گرفته شده؛ در حالیکه کاملا زنانه هست ( چیزی که شاید در مورد اپوس یک در نظر گرفته میشه) ؛ بسته میشه!! ا وقتی که حدود 2 ساعت که از عمر عطر میگذره؛ اون شدت و قوتی که نتهای گلی داشتند؛ کاهش پیدا میکنه (ولی تا انتهای کار از بین نمیره) و اون حالت چوبی و مختصر دودی همچنان وجود داره و عطر کمی در این مرحله ادویه ای هم میشه. علت اون هم وجود زنجبیل در نتهای عطر هست که کمی حس ادویه ای هم علاوه بر حس چوبی دودی در فرد استشمام کننده؛ القا میکنه در مرحله ی نتهای پایانی؛ تغییر در روند نتهای بویایی اپوش 8 مشهود نیست عطر اپوس 8 در مجموع بیشتر برای بهار مناسبه و به علت حس دودی ضعیفی که در نتهای میانی اش داره (شاید به علت وجود گیاه خس خس باشه) به عقیده ی من عطری است که در بهار و حداکثر تا دهه ی اول خرداد قابل استفاده هست و از اون به بعد این نتهای میانی عطر؛ میتونند آزار دهنده باشند Opus 8 perfume starts with floral notes. The verdict is in, and it's a dislike for me. Opus 8 starts out as a screechy jasmine and orange flower perfume, and it contains hints of woods and saffron. It mellows out to become a bit less screechy over time, but on the whole it smells not only too chemical but too simple for my taste. I have been so enthusiastic over Amouage's standard collection (I will stick with Ubar for my jasmine fix), and I wanted more of the same. More oomph, more complexity...more, more, more! I can see how this could be just the right white flower perfume for somebody out there, but I don't believe it will please the majority of the Amouage groupies.

to me this is pretty feminine with a blast of florals and a woody core..nothing really enthralling.. along the line of all Opuses basically a rip off, and I am an hardcore Amouage fan, these outings are going to alienate the loyal fan base!

There is some contradiction in Opus VIII - nice white flower tones but also something quite pestering. My conclusion is that it is not worth to try much less to buy.

More feminine than masculine. I dislike the fragrance intensely - very reminiscent of a poorly maintained nursing home. I threw my samples away after just two uses.

Opus VIII is a spicy animalic oriental fragrance. At first, it seems to have great potential, smelling it from the bottle. But once you spray it on, it turns into some other essence entirely, almost like that of an animal's cage. Can't imagine what kind of horror story they're trying to tell here, but I get something like out of scene of the Amazon. Stale botanicals, with this resinous, hay-like, straw-like essence doesn't distinctly strike you as anything as much as it does uncomfortably animalic. I would say that formula is all west Indian bay and vetiver, which comes off to me like some kind of basket sword reference. And with that said, I'd just like to add, "Well, I'm gonna break! I'm gonna break my! I'm gonna break my rusty caaaaagggeee‒and ruuuuuuunnnnn." Exactly the interpretation I get here. The Sultan of Oman is suggesting that his reign is like imprisonment in ways, and that his plan is to get the people to denounce him from the throne by releasing a bunch of bad perfumes. I'd swear that there's also a monkey reference here as well, as by his aesthetics (in true Arab spirit), he seems like the type of guy that others would liken to a monkey in their jokes. A sad story, but my best interpretation for a fragrance that at first seems to have so much potential, only to turn out to be utterly unenjoyable by all means. The stuff is super potent too, and just sticks to the skin like flies on s***. You can try to scrub it off all you want but you just can't get rid of it. Try to spray over it, but it just permeates right through. Definitely recommended to try before you buy, and be extremely cautious with your sampling as well.

As soon as I sprayed it on my hand I told myself a very tiny decant saved me from an unsuccessful blindbuy,it's nothing I can love and in such a price point I need to love a perfume in order to buy it It opens with a floral blast,not very heavy or heady florals but there's something veryyy spicy/herbal covering flowers that I prevents me from thinking of it as a light and tender scent.actually I don't know which note causes that toothpaste-like minty herbal sharpness.ginger is among my favorite spicy notes so I don't think it's responsible,I suspect it's olibanum blended with ginger and saffron,since I don't know how does olibanum smell I can't say for sure I wanted to simply mark dislike and pass it but after half on hour that unpleasant sharpness calms down.now the most dominant note is jasmine,actually a soft and lovely one wrapped in creamy sweet benzoin and woods.this stage is pleasant to my nose unlike first minutes but now after couple of hours all I can pick up is jasmine+mint bubble gum!not bad but not something I'd like to smell like,I hate green,fresh,minty and herbal scents and this is the most dominant accord on my skin.I wish there was instead more sweet,balmy benzoin and woods.however it's just me.lots of my friends love it and find it one of the most beautiful and wearable white florals Opus VIII is a mild to hot weather scent IMO,it's wearable year round except in cold winters.longevity is amazing and sillage is very good.I find it in the feminine side of the track but if a guy is interested in white florals it would be a good choice

Honestly I'm in two minds about this new Opus. On the one hand I'm not the biggest fan of white florals and the Opus range in general are hit n miss with me. Opus VIII for me has enough spicing, woodiness and incense to give it Amouageness and a completely different feel from your average white floral. It has an undeniably upscale and complex feel to it. Jasmine is sweet and orange blossom and ylang ylang can be great when sparingly used and thankfully that's the case here. The opening is nice it dries down to a nice scent and thankfully there's enough going on with the balancing act of elements to make this a decent fragrance. I really would like a sample of this as I have samples of all the other Opus scents (which I could do with revisiting)Given a proper wear I think I could grow to like Opus VIII one more, it is quite floral and could be perceived as a little feminine perhaps? The main thing that detracted from it was the fact I tried Journey Man on the same day and that dwarfed this scent. Considering Journey is pretty unstated too that doesn't say a lot for VIII but as I've mentioned I think it might be a grower, it's certainly safer than VII which was Amouage spice madness!!! Needs revisiting for sure but nothing repulsed me.

Opus VIII is a floriental fragrance. It can be divided into two seperate stages. From the opening, I immediately notice a sugary sweet orange blossom that stays for a few minutes and a prominent indolic jasmine that has similarities to the jasmine in Portrayal Woman but not as rich or full-bodied as it is in Portrayal. After a few minutes, the jasmine is joined by a very sweet floral ylang-ylang note that’s not banana-ish but sweet and rich with nuances of jasmine. I noticed that the three floral notes can easily be identified separately rather than forming a unified floral accord. The floral notes are paired with a warm spicy ginger note. The drydown reveals the oriental side of the fragrance by the appearance of a frankincense note along with a woody balsamic accord that has hints of Guaiac wood without the smoky meaty notes. The frankincense here is bright, balsamic and incense-y without being lemony or smoky. The late drydown was sweet ambery to my nose.

Opus VIII is probably not as woodyamber-centered as others of the latest deliveries by Amouage (Opus VII and Opus V above all) but, to my nose, it still reads as a dry-woody / benzoin driven composition. This time, what seems to have now become the Amouage's *leitmotiv*, is joined by a great floral presence while spices provide slightly dirty juxtapositions. There's a watery element up top that might sound scary but works just great with the overall white / indolic aspect of the florals. Unfortunately, it all lasts too little to then leave space to a been-there-done-that sweet'n'dry woody / resiny base that's pretty decent but far from being outstanding if you're already familiar with most of the latest fragrances by this firm. I can't say Opus VIII is a bad fragrance (especially given the great opening) but it's nowhere close being worthy of the hefty price tag it goes for. Sorry. Rating 6.5/10

The Library collection is an amazingly complex collection of fragrances. what I love especially about OpusVIII is that it is such an unique scent with how it acts on skin. The beauty of Amouage Fragrances is how they take you on a long lasting journey. It offers the wearer a chance to escape. The star of this scent is the jasmine and the quality that comes through. I enjoy especially how this scent there are clashes between the spiciness and the floral notes. The opening is especially warm and ginger comes trough gradually warming. What appeals to me is that at time there is conflict in this scent while other times there is harmony. It is a scent that forever morphs into something else. For some they will love and for others they will have concerns. Wearing this masterpiece is always a joy and with every wearing something new can be learnt.

I experience this as a tale of two halves. The first is an oily assault of jasmine grandiflorum in all its glory, albeit bereft of any off-putting, indolic aspects. It mellows down but doesn't change character in any grand manner, until around the 4 hour mark. That's when the fragrance takes an intriguing turn. Abruptly, jasmine goes underground and a crisp, balsamic, resinous accord emerges. Sweet, dry benzoin is the major component at this juncture, with some bay and olibanum facets. There might be a hint of guaiac too, but, if so, it's in perfect conjunction with benzoin. This second half is how it fades out. Longevity is exceptional - 12 hours on me. Projection isn't beastly but beyond an arm's length surely.

A lonely man in Chernobyl. After the 1986 catastrophe, he clings to restoring life to his home. He plants jasmine and waits a lifetime for its bloom. Years later, decaying, he greets the carnal scent, entwined with the fading traces of his forgotten body and soul. Now in simpler terms: this is a combination of radioactive jasmine and some other funky flowers - or the type of flower bomb that women blend in shakers and give to their unlawful husbands so they can get a heart attack while driving to work. This is evil and innocent but nevertheless - pretty. I rarely get this excited over a fragrance but this was simply beautiful. I have my sources for a bottle and I cant fucking wait.

Nothing exotic or middle eastern about this fragrance. Just another number in the Opus Series. I hate series just as much as a hate movies with a number after them ! In some ways it reminds me of Opus V1 but not nearly as opulent. This wears more like a generic niche fragrance. Somewhere between an Acqua De Parma Colonia and a watered down ONDA. It's not bad and more than likely I would choose this if I was on a budget and saw it at Sephora but I'd never spend top dollar on it. This has excellent longevity and good projection. If you like this but want to turn it up a notch go for Opus V1.

Ok,got my sample and sprayed about 1 hour ago...Massive explosion of flowers..mostly jasmine and neroli....Without looking at the notes,I can smell some light spices under the flowers...about the 1 hour mark it starts to get warmer and creamier but still strong on the jasmine..I need to do a few full wearing before I know if I like or not....so far,I have no interest in any of the opus series....opus vi I kinda liked and this one,so far,might just be too strong on the flowers....we'll see....

verdaderamente es una maravilla olfativa de primer nivel de la alta perfumería esa bella explosión de jazmín y azahar en las notas de salida ...al paso de las horas el jazmín permanece ahí apoyado por Ylang-Ylang y azahar ....pasan las horas y están ahí... la longevidad y fijación 10/10 en conclusión es una fragancia adictiva y 1000% recomendable totalmente para ambos sexos me gusta mis pulgares arriba.

I have this perfume.a very good perfume with light floral scent and is so long standing with good sillage.it stands on my skin mor than24hours with a perfect scent until last moment.i think it is the best perfume i have ever bougt.

I just don't understand why they discontinued this beauty! This is one of my favorites! Amouage needs to rethink this one. Fortunately I have a backup!
