Bois D'Orient

I blind-bought Bois d’orient because of Peru Balsam in the base (which I love with a slightly different facet in OJ Tolu) and because I finally wanted to challenge my Tuberose phobia. Happy endings: no nausea, no recoil from cloying attacca but a wonderfully balanced summer scent that reminds me of late beach afternoons, azure water and sand and skin tired from the sun. Very different, because of the woody base, to the more obvious beachy/coconutty TF Soleil Blanc (which I tried and enjoyed, almost healed from the phobia, soon after), but there’s a shared link, perhaps that lovely facet of Tuberose ...

Don't understand the bad ratings on this. Far from a bad fragrance... in fact i really enjoy this fragrance. Projection and sillage is above average & its definitely high quality juice. I get compliments and that's always a plus! Cinnamon isn't overbearing but present. A very well blended frag...

It's discreet, yes, but it's a very pleasant fragrance and extremely long-lasting.

Bois d"Orient feels like a flanker of Tom Ford Black Orchid with different notes but with similar smell. The dominant combo of Peru Balsam, amber, black currant with some dark woody notes (there's no oud here) and the slightly dusty patchouli with the intensive ylang mimics the vibe from TFBO. So if you like the TF and want something similar with different notes give it a try. Projection and sillage are moderate. Longevity is high-moderate.

I cannot deny how good this perfume is. It 1st sprayed on a pleasant, cinnabun-like, woody semi-sweet oriental and then a nice berry note starts appearing from the background. It's balanced and pretty safe, that was the most unusual thing compared to the Niche Nasomatto etc I had all around me in Harrod's parfum section. It dared to betray the almost autonomous pungent / greeny / plain weird openings of those other scents and committed the heinous crime of actually being likeable, pleasant and wearable! (yea, I had a pretty bad day of testing you can tell) Not too strong, nor weak either as it has a distinct elegance in it's projction; sweet waves of woody cinnamon and a vanillic-ambery rounded note now Impressive on 1st testing. Not too crazy or amazingly exciting , but a very solid effort Creed would struggle to put out My rating: 8/10

Something interesting happened few days back. I went to visit a cousin in the evening. Weather was a bit chilly after a downpour that lasted for 2hrs plus. His crib was warm. My uncle came out from his room, we exchanged pleasantries and settled in the living room. Few minutes later, he (uncle) exclaimed "What's that nice smell? It smells really nice!" He turned around looking at my direction as I was wearing a wan smile. "I know it's an expensive perfume." He concluded. Apparently, my AmourOud frag (Bois D'Orient) was at work! The body heat I had rejuvenated the base notes such that my uncle sensed the fragrance 3 metres away! Wore the frag to work in morning of the said day! This happened August 11, 2017!

100% black orchid. Second testing: Nice and fruity I have it on with other orientals and today it feels more fruit and even a touch creamy like a soft coconut. Gorgeous!

Honey, fruits, yellow flowers, dates, patchouli and something minty fresh in the back.It is like patchouli leaves from montale diluted in some sirupy honey water.

Not talked about much, but a very pleasant Amber fragrance, with woods and a hint of sweetness. Smells of high quality. Signature scent Worthy
