Oud du Jour

#1037 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I was prepared for another clone of Tom Ford "Tuscan Leather." Not in the least. This scent is unique. I've experienced nothing quite like it. Not as fruity as I anticipated. More bath powdery than I expected. The rose is subtle enough to avoid the grandma scent tag, but probably the strongest note here is the lily-of-the-valley (why not just call it muguet, it's fewer words). And it hangs on quite a while with strong sillage. No surprise. Muguet was planted on the south side of my parents house and it could be smelled a block away. Performance is top shelf. Most people are calling this unisex. It's more feminine and floral in the opening than I will typically wear, but it's fine for men a half hour later. But I do know just the woman I will buy this for, and I know she will be delighted.

Update 1.5 years in: This is actually wearable at the office, which i had not considered earlier. Still so gorgeous and well balanced and unique. Update after 8 months and a few more wears: changing my Rating from Like to Love This is actually a very nice scent that i didn t fully appreciate at first. It is more masculine than what the notes seem to say about being a floral scent. It is still on the fainter side especially for Amouroud, which tends to have beastly scents. It does make sense though as it is made to be wearable professionally. But it lasts forever.

Opens up with a sharp synthetic sweet smell which can be anything but not oud. The good thing is that it does not smell bad even if the real oud is missing in it. I opened the box in the library with a female classmate and she, for some reason, loved it. It smells better on the clothes after a while. On the skin, it is more irritating and it reminds me of my Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra male which I gave away to my classmate some years ago since she liked it. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 9/10

Excellent,.. but should be called "Saffron du Jour." Saffron and pepper at the front, nice fruit and smoke at the core (but not sweet), and an amber, floral and slightly woody undertone after time. I don't pick up hardly any oud. Very, very good fragrance. 8/10.

Beautiful. A masterpiece. Rich, strong, intense, yet soft and sublimely sensual. The flowers are there, delicate and gentle, and the whole is perfectly blended, to make me swoon with delight!!! And it lasts.......and lasts............Happy me!!!!! I LOVE it.

Absolute bomb. Own a 100ml and I can always rely on it in cooler weather. In the Oud line this is the most beautiful oud niche fragrance 10/10

One of the best oud fragrances on the market. On the sweet side, but not for too long. Really soothing and elegant. An excellent oud.

Great buy for me, have everything a strong perfume and still maintain its frlorals smell, longevity and concensual

Disappointed, scent is very good but no projection, on clothes it stays long but no sillage

TF Ombre Leather meets Initio Oud for Greatness.

A bright sophisticated Oriental gourmand. This is a nicely blended, delicious, and happy perfume which opens with notes of raspberry, pink pepper and saffron before it moves to a brief heart comprising of rose, incense, plum and lily of the valley. The perfume finally settles into a dense powdery base which showcases the Oud surrounded with ambergris, patchouli, amber and guaiac wood. Oud purists, please note, this is not a Oud centered fragrance. The Oud is there but primarily in the drydown and is overwhelmed by the other gourmand accords. Unisex (slight feminine leaning) with moderate sillage/projection and very good longevity. Enjoy!

Smells nice, not particularly Oudy but smells good nonetheless. Frankly it smells like a polite western take on oud, very much like a western style designer fragrance (more saffron and a hint of oud). My issue is performance which is below average on my skin. Shames really buy still a decent fragrance.

To me this is mostly a floral fragrance with a subtle sweet leather accord running through. I get a bit of red fruitiness too like strawberry. The oud is pushed to the back seat. Smooth, easygoing, light, classy. To me it is unisex. 8.0/10

Not my kind of scent, not saying it's a smell-a-like of Tuscan Leather, but it is that kind of scent, harsh, leathery, fruity. Strong on the oud and raspberry, very dry, though. I did get a compliment wearing it, but still not for me.

This scent has some arabic character but it is NOT an oud fragrance. It is strong but not a beast, its projection is above the average but not heavy and.. I've smelt this before. If you want to know how it smells, try the Armaf Shades Wood if you like this Armaf, try its expensive brother. The similarity is amazing, 95% with these differences : 1 it doesn't feel overly synthetic and harsh like the Armaf (but it does feel a common designer scent, cheap smell). 2 it is smoother and better blended (but still is cloying for my nose) 3 it has better longevity than the Armaf. There is no oud here so don't worry about this. Oud du Jour is a much better version of Armaf Shades Wood and more wearable made with better quality ingredients.

Opens with a strange & sharp (synthetic saffron + pink pepper) burnt rubber (synthetic oud + incense) accord mixed with the tangy sweet plum & raspberry, then it stays vastly linear with the lingering tire-shop smell + raspberry & saffron, almost tapping into Tuscan Leather (or more correctly, "Tuscan Incense") category. Least favorite of the 4 I tried.

Not really much oud in this fragrance, safron is clearly dominant here... But it’s a very nice and luxurious smelling fragrance and performs very well. It’s in my top 5 safe and long lasting fragrance list. And yeah, it attracts positive compliments. Lasts for a week or more on clothes

Middle Eastern feel but I don't get much (if any) oud. The saffron and rose sold it to me - one of my favourite combos. Smells nice, not particularly high end but definitely premium-ish,
