Fleur Cachée

Love this. Just blind bought it and love it. Fleur Cachee translates to Hidden Flower. I do not get any florals nor any vanilla whatsoever. This smells like extremely dry spices and wood. Verrrrrrry reminiscent of Serge Lutens’ masterpiece Jeux de Peau which I also love. Totally unisex. This isn’t something I’d wear out. It’s an at home and/or personal-hygge-comfort-time kind of scent. It eventually sweetens up a bit after 1-2 hours but the sweetness is the immortelle (maple syrup) type. Overall this not especially sweet but done in a naturally spiced-sweet way. I’m repeating, just in case you’re expecting to find vanilla here, that this does not smell of vanilla to me, nearly at all. I imagine being inside a colonial home in Salem, Massachusetts in the 1870s walking around the enormous kitchen with walk-in fireplaces and an oak lined pantry with wooden barrels filled with dry spices. Did you ever notice that certain notes almost give off a chocolate smell. It’s maybe the mixture of the notes and hw it comes out on your skin. sometimes sandalwood and vanilla comes off this way on my skin. This is a well blended fragrance which leans very unisex but smells great on me. It does have a green spicy note in the mid turning so herbaceous and excellent for this time of year. I really love this fragrance and love the woody spice here. this isn’t a beast mode fragrance but definitely projects. As one of the reviewers below said this is not floral by any means, but can be worn by anyone!!! Highly recommended 10/10. Want to try others from this line!!!

Yes! Whoever voted this as similar to Jeux de Peau, I completely agree. There’s a creamy quality to Fleur Cachée, it’s foodie and natural. Before I saw that it was voted similar to the Luten’s masterpiece, I was thinking this is a “vegetal gourmand”, and the vanilla used in this composition feels daring, but it’s the note that holds it all together. My review may seem laconic, but this one is cool and weird...and caught me by surprise.

I smell immortelle here, very nice.

This is totally a hindsight bias sniff for me. I could not parse out turmeric but then I saw it as an ingredient and was like oh yes that's exactly what I am smelling. The vanilla is strongest to me -- this is a very sweet scent (bc of that), but it's spiced as well- and not in a spicy way I was able to place on my own. It's a spicy, woody, anisic vanilla. A little reminisicent of the smell of a sauna but sweeter and spicier, the smell of an aged alcohol barrel totally makes sense. Like what the inside of an empty bourbon barrel might smell like, but with a caramel or praline feel.
