Ancient Scent

This opens with a minty, herbal freshness that initially feels quite pleasant and promising. Unfortunately, on me, skin a musky, earthy note comes through that becomes increasingly dominant. As it develops, that earthiness reads distinctly mushroom-like, and apparently I really can't take that in fragrance. As much as I can appreciate the concept and the originality, it isn't one for me. Worth sampling if you enjoy earthy, mushroom-forward compositions — but not a safe blind buy.

Stone the crows this is bad. Boy was I suckered in for this one. "Streams", "valleys", "the voice of the owl", "bats", "roots", "living stones." Notes of hay and gorse?? How can I resist that blurb. Sign me up. Big fat blind buy FAIL. Absolutely none of that AT ALL, in feeling, sentiment or actual smell, is in this pointless offering. It's a really, VERY, synthetic chemical smelling coconut soap. Not the subtle herby coconut within the gorse plant, but basically a Body Shop coconut body wash, of the kind that must make Roddick spin in her grave. There are no little woodland creatures here, smelling of the shrubs n fields, no nature, just a lab bunny having soap rubbed in its face. Apparently only 100 bottles of this stuff have been made, which is a good thing too. Perish any more. Bring on the pink donkey balloon I do not care, this thing has orienteered far far away from Stonehenge, or any other ancient site and ended up in the Cross Keys Shopping centre toilets as the municipal soap in the dispensers.
