Crown Of Violets

This ones really interesting! It's quite refreshing to wear in the summer and spring but I can see it maybe being a bit too fresh or cool for the cooler months. It starts off quite strong with a powdery musk before lifting into this sweet and fresh melon scent. It feels very aquatic with an almost cucumber note but that might be the green tea. I feel like the violet is present but it's not taking the centre stage as I'd anticipated , it's more breezy and floats lightly in the scent. On a wild card note this makes me think of mochi or that gummy rice flour taste/scent! Unfortunately it doesn't stick around for as long as I'd like and I find myself topping up a few times in the day. For comparison with other LUSH violet frags ,IMO its a little like the violet in 'Confetti' but without what I consider that 'burnt rubber tyre' note, added cool notes and less sweetness. Overall unique in itself.

I think if you like the idea of a leafy and earthy scent with a dominant and sweet green tea dry-down then you may enjoy this one. Looking at the notes listed is odd because the florals here smell like classic Roses to me! Obviously this is just my nose so it's my personal experience. If it's any help, I'm super fussy about jasmine and I don't really sense it in this, but I normally like violets and I love tea perfumes, which is why I blind bought this perfume. I've got tons of Simon's perfumes from LUSH and a few from And too but this one just doesn't work for me. So all that said, this is how Crown Of Violets smells to me.... I get a beautiful light waft of violet on first spray, but it's so fleeting. I don't smell violets on paper or my skin after about 20 seconds, which I was gutted about tbh! There is a natural rocky garden scent - as you would expect due to this particular collaboration - but very little violet. I love green tea notes but it seems like I prefer them a bit fresher, rather than sweet. In fact the tea here reminds me of a Brocard I have called Sweet Home. That one is sweet black tea and it's the closet comparison I have to this. Sweet black tea with fruits works for me as the sweetness is a fructose, honey berry sort of sweetness and smells gourmand, but sweet earthy tea with stones, leaves and rose petals just made me uncomfortable. I'm sad to say that I find it rather sickly. Don't ask me why I get rose, but that's how this one smells to me! I looooong for more violet with a name like Crown Of Violets! I think overall I just find this one slightly unbalanced.... you know with food when something is too sweet and needs something acidic to counteract the sugar? That's the impression I get from Crown of Violets. It feels like it needs some citrus or a sharp berry. And much more Violet!
